Silences Eau de Parfum Sublime

What a beautiful scent! As others have mentioned, there's something deeply familiar about this fragrance. Not because it resembles C19, no, what I mean is it smells like a fond memory. For context I grew up in the 90s. It brings back some memory that is just out of my grasp, a familiarity, but it doesn't feel artificial. It's some natural scent I can't quite articulate. I'm not sure if a relative or maybe my mother wore this when I was younger, but it can't be a coincidence that so many reviewers have said the same thing. Perhaps it could simply be that this scent DNA was very prominent in the 90s, in other fragrances or beauty products. But it could also be something abstract and mystical like the grassiness, light florals and moss that conjure up these memories. Either way, what a delightful scent and a sophisticated reformulation. Very happy to own it and I'm so glad it exists in the world.

As far as i remember no one in my family circle has worn this , despite this , this perfume is a strangest reminiscence for me . Don't know who , where or exactly when , but is so oddly familiar , maybe a pre school teacher has worn the 1978 original ? Anyways , i want it so badly now ! It is very green , yet so feminine and despite the Aldehyde note it's not that soapy , not in the usual Aldehydic way . It's mature , really not sweet at all . Really on the late 70's way . Definitely deserves to be more famous . Not hype at all , better try it before buying if you're in the sweetie/girly !

Silences Sublime is like the first days of spring in early March when nature waves goodbye to the stillness of winter and budding leaves pop up everywhere. There's the lovely green bitterness of galbanum that lingers from beginning to end, slightly sweetened by the pear, a perfect backdrop for the flowers, fresh and vibrant, to emerge. The drydown is woody, yet retains an almost watery freshness. Need I say how much I love this?

Welp. Reformulations are the way of the future. So here we are. I'll update once she lands! Update: more rounded than the original but still very green. Box lists 'farnesol' and the mossy note is there, but it's that peppery modern molecule version of moss. Also more unisex than my old bottles. Something about it reminds me of the smell of hotel carpet. Curious. I prefer the vintage, but this is good.

As I was wearing this today, I thought that if I had never smelled the original Silences, I would think this was the best modern perfume I'd ever got my nose on. I can smell the pear and it's really quite nice. Sweet and powdery drydown. Would smell SO good on a man. You should try it!

I'm obsessed with Silences (original version) and have developed a strong affinity for Jacomo in general. That said, I'm scared to try this. The original is just so good.

SILENCES SUBLIME This perfume is the personification of the word “Green.” It smells like moss in a soft, subtle way. The aldehydes do make it seem more vintage, but I love that about it. It’s quite similar to Magie Noire, that I love. It’s more affordable than MN, if you’re interested. The same man who made MN made Silences and both came out in 1978. It’s a hard, sharp hit in the first 30 seconds, I’ll warn you. Let it dry down. The only real problem is, it’s extremely weak. After a few minutes, you can barely smell it anymore. I’m considering layering it with some Magie Noire EDT, and then just touch it up throughout the day with Silences. I put the price value as just “okay” because you have to re-apply so often that you’d go through this very, very quickly. I miss the sulphuric hit of MN. Silences is much more accessible than Magie Noire. You can try Silences before you splurge on MN as green chypres aren’t for everyone. This is a good cold weather scent, especially early Spring.

Galbanum On Ice- Silences Eau de Parfum Sublime by Jacomo Silences Sublime features some of my favorite notes: galbanum, iris, and aldehydes. It has a classic chypre vibe but feels modern. It smell of high-quality;fresh, green, and natural, not at all synthetic. My only gripe is the lasting power, but overall it’s a beautiful scent. SS reminds me of early spring, when nature says goodbye to winter’s quietness and new leaves start to grow. It also has a smell reminiscent of nature after a rainy day. A timeless, soothing fragrance. The drydown is woody but still kind of watery and fresh. Silences Sublime perfectly captures the feel of the color green.

Overall nice scent, somewhat reminiscent of Chanel No 19 EdT with clearly less quality ingredients and kind of synthetic vibe. It would be a good as a to-go scent, but the longevity and sillage are non existent, really immediately after spraying this is a skin scent lasting about 15 minutes. Spraying it on clothes does not help either. The current batches of Chanel fragrances also have dismal performances despite the high price tag, but even they last longer than this one. For me it was a blind buy, luckily I payed 30 euros for 100ml bottle, so it was not a complete disaster.

I don't know why but both Silences and Anthracite begin with some quite unpleasant, plastic/medicine notes. It takes time to develop the truly essence and marvelous scent of the heart and base notes. After couple of hours the scent is more than gorgeous, so my advise is to spray it one or better two hours before you go anywhere. For a second time I believed Jacomo make an extraordinary perfumes.

Nose Note #160 "For women" that's very deceptive. Unisex at best if not straight up male. Smells like the pod of the peas (i.e. the coating). A fragrance of the vegetable garden. Then aldehydes kick in and it smoothes the picture adding a feminine touch, but it still remains undoubtedly male.

Not my usual style, but I like it, all the way from first spray until drydown. The big problem is that it doesn't last much longer than two/three hours. I really have to love a perfume to commit to regular top-ups. 3/5

This Silences is similar to the OG but it lacks the magic. Still, it's inexpensive, chic, dry, aldehydes and galbanum, and a green bomb. A bit of a witch's brew now, versus the forest fairy it once was.

I bought this blindly because of rating, notes and reviews. But I can barely smell it and that little that I can smell reminds me only Grey Flannel / violet which I like a lot. It is the same on my hand and shirt: very weak and the same smell. Thanks to the many comparisons with CN19 (with finding similarity) plus the fact that I've had exactly the same problem with it I'm afraid there's something different with my nose. Is this Galbanum that is supposed to be prominent and that I can't smell? Who knows... I guess I should just get rid of this bottle and I am glad I didn't blind buy CN19 instead once. For the smell itself I'd give 4/5 but because of weakness I can only give it 3/5.

I wish companies would stop messing with masterpieces. There can only be one Mona Lisa no matter how many artists try to copy it. This isn't terrible, but it lacks that certain something that made the original version stand out. It could be because the original had real oakmoss and other natural ingredients. I don't know, but this is like a negative of a photo that needs to be developed. One change I would have welcomed is getting rid of the giant hockey puck bottle with the built-in sprayer. It's still a pain in the ass to use.

Noble and dry at the opening, very photorealistic currant. Anyway, that is only note I remember after time... Yes, there is elegant and powdery iris and smoky vetiver, soapy lilies-of-the-valley. But these notes dissapear quickly. Nice, balanced composition doesn't last on my skin and vanish - in silence. It was nice to try, however I don't have a reason to wear it...

This is like a milder, less crisp version of Chanel No. 19. I enjoy the galbanum bomb at the start but the drydown's a little meh and has pretty poor longevity. An enjoyable wear while it lasted but I would've liked to get to know Silences before the oakmoss ban.

It’s difficult to find the original Silences, which I never had the opportunity to enjoy (I understand it was superb). I received the Sublime version— which is ok— but nothing special.

Sadly, to my nose the Cassia "cat piss" -like odor is persistent through most of its presence. I get the green galbanum but it is being overwhelmed by that note. For me a dislike, after 3 months of trying.

Does anybody can describe the difference in SCENT between Silences EDT and Silences Eau de parfum Sublime? That would be great. Edit. Months later. Okay guys, I found something that may be interesting for Silence lovers who asked themselves the same question like I did. Attention! 'The original Silences was released in 1978. It was a grand green floral with a heart of springtime flowers wrapped in rich rose and jasmine layered over a woody musky base dripping with vetiver and oak moss. Eau de Parfum Sublime (created by Serge Majoullier of Mane) kept the slightly bitter and resinous galbanum and cassia opening and removed the orange blossoms and tart citric notes, while adding a crisp and fruity pear accord. The original (incredulously enough) did not have a lot of aldehydes, but the modern one does...and they are glorious. The green in this creeps around you like a cloud of soft whispers and expands to a sillage that is noticeable, yet classy, and never gets obnoxious. The body of this scent is unabashedly floral. The cool green of iris and the sharp edges of narcissus are relaxed with lily-of-the-valley and a powdery rose. Gone are the creamy jasmine and the fruity hyacinth, but the remaining notes are blended in such a way that you do not miss them. The delightful trail left by this is still very grassy (thanks to vetiver) and mossy, yet not as strange or distinct as the original was. Vague woody notes linger in the background giving this a gentle strength. This is one of (if not THE) best reformulation I have sniffed! Vintage aura, gorgeous green floral notes and a subtle, yet tenacious, drydown: extremely well done. Sublime is a very apropos title for this particular flanker. Sillage: good. Longevity: very good.' Sounds wonderful, doesn't it?

Beautifully green fragrance, and yeah it is very similar to No 19. It's a gorgeous combination of No 19 and No 19 Poudrè and very elegant. It's probably a bit less long lasting than No 19 but considering the price difference i can't complain. If you enjoy a green floral classic scent or enjoy chanel no 19 so this will very likely be great for you. Very good quality of smell as well, it doesn't smell cheap or synthetic at all. My only complaint would be the lasting power otherwise just a beautiful fragrance. Update: The rose here is very powerful and becomes the main player as the fragrance sits on your skin longer and longer.

Green, mossy, beautiful and challenging to understand. I am still trying to figure it out myself. Slightly cold and introverted scent. Forest floor in late spring just before dawn breaks. Not sure it’s for me, and that I can pull it off but it could be seen as a masterpiece as far as green scents go. Has a similar vibe to Chanel No 19 EdP. A woman with a plan and knows what she wants and how to get it! No warm and fuzzy here; cool and independent slightly austere. I see a female CEO pulling this off gracefully.

I own a sample of this. I was curious because I like chanel 19 but would never buy a bottle. It does reimind of chanel 19, but I find the latter to be overall more pleasant, perhaps a bit more frizzy and unisex .The opening here is a very harsh and "dry" green. I can feel the dry sensation in my nose. Once it settles down on the skin I can discern the Iris and the woodsy notes and it becomes more enjoiable. It is austerely elegant, it does not belong to me but I find it quite intriguing.

Beautifully Green! My mother wore Silences when I was a kid and this smells to me very close to how I remember it, despite that it's the sublime version but it retains so much of the original. It does smell a bit dated, probably because of the strong Aldehydes at the opening, but I still like it. After this initial blast, in about an hour, it turns flowery green. Very pleasant but with a moderate lasting power. A very green welcomed change for me!

This reminds me of Choc Cardin, the coriander & marijuana scent; & it's mild, wears as a skin scent & lasts for 4-5 hours. I thought I had online ordered a tester of Silences EDP, but received Sublime instead. Sublime is the replacement reformulation for Silences, in fact. I wish that I had had the opportunity to sample Silences originally. It sounds very nice, indeed.

I was unsure whether to blind buy this or the original, but decided to go for this as it was supposed to be softer, still unsure if this is too soft? Has a lovely green aura to it amazing non sweet rose note also with a lily of the valley note which is not my favourite, I need a bit for time to really decide whether I like it or not

You won't believe how good this is for the price, a complete masterpiece for what they are able to do with the ingredients here. Yes, it will remind you of all the "similar" fragrances listed in the above ala Chanel No 19, and just as good as you can get to the original Silence Parfum de Toilette.

Although Fragrantica doesn't have pyramid of Ellipse J. Fath my nose distinguishes familiar notes. I was looking something to substitute Ellipse, which was discontinued long time ago and this is the ONE! Magic, enchantment, miracle. Try it yourself.

Great scent modern version of silence which I loved, same vibes yet fresher and more discreet and definitely more modern and less chypre... Great identity not generic and different from all sweety gourmand mainstream perfumes out there ...

This smells very dry and green, like Chanel no 19. It could be a good dupe IMO. Funny thing is that I don't get aldehydes at all, it's more iris and galbanum on my skin. Smells like nature after a rainy day. A classic, calming fragrance!
