Furyo

This review is for Vintage formulation: Masterpiece. This is, like "liquid kamasutra" - an olfactory orgasm in a bottle. Almost a surreal opening of rich spices and florals with deep, smoky patchouli along with a very nice dose of civet - that comes together with a warm, glowing base of amber and vetiver in glorious richness! This is a time bomb from 1988...but is entirely 'avant-garde' perfumery. Better than almost any niche offering in both sheer quality and something entirely rare...transcendence! One can literally lose themselves in this fragrance. One is engulfed in the Nag Champa incense accord that these amazing notes form. Some green notes in the top along with coriander and ambrette create a wonderful balance of herbal bitterness and earthiness right before an "incense cone" starts to form and glow on your skin. Rose in the heart along with carnation, jasmine and geranium create a nice bouquet that shows itself in plumes...this is truly amazing! The incredible power, as mesmerizing as it is...this actually calms down and wears (for many hours) as a radiant skin scent (dense and very warm though). It projects well on my skin for the first hour or so and after that, it wears much closer but breathes out a few inches from the skin...creating a true aura effect. It also will leave a scent trail behind you as it is that strong. A wonderful vibe that your skin is glowing with warm embers of incense, amber and spices. The ingredients are of exceptional quality. Also blended into this incredible scent is a nice touch of rich oakmoss, warm vanilla and a slightly dirty musk which blends well with the rich and beautiful civet. Nag Champa incense is a composition itself that traditionally contains Plumeria flower (in a semi-resin form) and sandalwood. Those accords show here, but are mysteriously not listed as notes...which makes this even more fascinating. This is niche-quality fragrance in Vintage formulation - period. I cannot compare this scent to any other as it breaks conventional wisdom and turns its back on anything traditional in fragrance. I am in pure admiration. After having done numerous full wearings and a couple sample wearings, I realize it is a scent that one must be comfortable and confident to wear - this is not for the faint of heart. However, since it does not project too loudly, a scent that you could wear (in light application) to a lot of occasions. This is truly, enchanting "perfume" that will swirl around you. My favorite association is when I wear it while burning high-quality Nag Champa incense in my house and drift very far away in meditation. Hedonistic, at this point. Stunning. I will refrain from giving it a fractional rating but know that one is very lucky to be able to have tried this...for it is pure olfactory art, with no name on the canvas. I am so curious whose brilliant touch & incredible nose was behind this under the Jacques Bogart label. Cheers.

I was told Furyo Bogart might suit me, but it’s discontinued so I had to find a sample from hands. Idk about the batch and so on, but it’s certainly vintage (in any way all Furyos are as it’s discontinued in 2011 as I remember). To be honest - I was bought buy earlier reviews about “occult book store” and torture themes : D What can I say? Those persons didn’t lie! I’ve also read the official description of this perfume and I can’t agree with it in any variant. Sorry not sorry. Well, what can I say by myself? It’s a real vintage beast mode fragrance. THAT clear and true one beast mode. It’s balsamic and extremely oily. Reminds me of occult potions made by type of a dark mage (idk how to call a male witch properly, but it’s for sure that kind of personality) by using poisonous creatures and plants. Not much civetone, but tons of sweet thick castoreum. I consider civetone as mostly feminine note and I’m grim death happy it’s not the main! It’s really hard to find true castoreum fragrances nowadays as they all seem so light and synthetic... But Furyo got it. It’s a dark side of musk, extremely rare masculine powdery accords. I personally hate lavender, but here it feels like a mix of belladonna and henbane spiced with aconitum. Yes, Furyo is spicy. Have you ever tasted Worcester sauce? That kind of spices, but on extremely vicious oily base. Tobacco goes here like wet burned pages of an ancient folio. Yes, it’s indeed the smell of an occult book store with discreditable practices on the backstage. Remember Hjerim from TES:Skyrim? That’s it! I found a word for this fragrance and it’s “GRIEVOUS”. It has cold, I’d even say winter-wolfy vibes. And after nearly two hours of wearing it I can swear - it has kerosene in notes! Heavy spicy stagnant atmosphere of a vintage place. I wished I could compare it with the inquisition, but it’s too tepid for it. Maybe only the hunter’s from Red Riding Hood (2011) vibes ‘cause it’s animalistic in wolf style. I really can’t choose any other suitable animal. Wet wolf fur with blood and ashes on it - yes. It brings us to the witchcrafts again, tho. It also some has leathery tones that remind me of a heavy leather covers on occult books. The whole thing about Furyo - it’s heavy but not overwhelming. It doesn’t cause nausea or headaches. But it also won’t become your second skin. Magical armor? Maybe. Personal weapon? More chances. I won’t even try to mix it with anything else from my collection. Maybe with Zombie from Demeter, but much later. It’s an artpiece for any masculine person. It’s a magic portal to the beast side. I’m going to buy all the samples around, yes!

WOW! This is incredible. Very, very raw, extremely masculine and SEXY. I recently got hold of a vintage bottle of Furyo on recommendation of a friend when I mentioned that I wanted to try something classic but unusual. The reviews below certainly convey the details of this amazing fragrance far better than I could, so this is purely my own reaction. The opening salvo is intense and animalic, with lots of civet, although refined with ... a blend of something resinous, something spicy and something slightly woody, but my unsophisticated nose is unable to determine exactly what elements are in the supporting cast. I remember reading that civet, castoreum and deer musk are meant to have an aphrodisiac quality insofar as they are thought to enhance one's own pheromones, thus making the wearer more desirable. Now I believe it. Wearing Furyo I definitely feel pretty damn sexy. It really is hypnotic in a way and has a kind of intensity that reminds me of another legendary French masculine fragrance, Zizanie by Fragonard, although Zizanie hails from a much earlier era. I'm not saying that the complex and sultry Furyo resembles Zizanie (although the musk in the latter is somewhat reminiscent of Furyo's civet) just that they both have fairly bold ouvertures. Furyo evolves beautifully as it develops, and the civet remains constant, along with patchouli and oakmoss, while the intensity of the opening transitions into a sublime and complex symphony of harmonious woody, spicy, ambery sophistication. The first evening I wore Furyo in public, I had both men and women coming close for a sniff, and it certainly attracted a great deal of attention, curiosity and an avalanche of compliments. This is a remarkable fragrance and I absolutely adore it. Comparisons, like opinions, are always subjective but I must say that Furyo doesn't smell anything like Kouros to me. Admittedly I can't stand Kouros, and still remember my horror after receiving a gift set of it as a teenager. But that's just me. To my mind it recalls the bold and unashamed muskiness of vintage Zizanie. Furyo is a wondrous masterpiece, a tribute to the perfumer's art, boldly masculine yet gentlemanly, with a powerful underlying sexuality and sexiness.

What. A. Beast. Furyo is an animalic powerhouse in the league of vintage Kouros, and to some extent Balenciaga. Extremely powerful, decidedly wild, with an animalic sweetness that is to die for! I'm happy that the top notes haven't faded, as the herbal opening is invigorating in a way I have experienced very few times. Laurel, extremely aromatic leads the way. No fig to my nose, and a slight zing from the juniper. I wasn't sure about the laurel but it brought to mind the slight green feel of vintage Opium, the only other fragrance I've noticed this note. The vetiver feels smoky and the tobacco note compliments the feel. The heat is bringing out a patchouli that is extremely nice! Dark brown, sweet, dirty. It is the whole plant, not fractions or sanitized distillations; this is a die hard absolute that makes me love it even more. It doesn't list floral notes but there must be something in there. Jasmine perhaps, with a smidgen of indole. Carnation? The spiciness says yes! But the star from the second hour onwards is the civet. A powdery dirtiness that high quality civet is known for. And there's heaps of it. Talk about a clean/dirty dichotomy! If castoreum adds the leather feel, there's also quite a bit of it in there, along with a slight urine note (honey?) that I love! Dirty and animalic but in the style of older perfumes; simply irresistible. And to top it off, if the above aren't enough, a good dose of oakmoss to make it a truly animalic chypre. It smells like a million bucks, without the price tag. If you enjoy Kouros, Antaeus, Balenciaga or Lapidus pour homme, even vintage Paloma Picasso, Furyo is a hidden jewel. Just as animalic as the first two, but with a more pronounced raw patchouli, it is far more affordable than the rest, and bottles still show up on eBay. Just get an atomizer first to decant, as most of the bottles of the first release come as splash. Very powerful, long lasting and extremely sexy. A perfect example of 80's chypres!

A potent animalic powerhouse in the style of classic European perfumery, with a beautiful dry down. . When I was a teenager I worked weekends through high school and blind bought myself a bottle of Kouros circa 1984. As a 16 year old I was utterly horrified. Furyo reminds me of the first time I wore Kouros. They must have made truckloads of this stuff for it to be so widely available despite having been discontinued for years - making it an inexpensive way to experience a composition starring the most famous now-forbidden (in commercial perfumery anyway) notes of animal origin: musk, civet and castoreum, once so integral to the “dirty sex” vibe that inspired perfumers like Jacques Guerlain (creator of Shalimar, Jicky and Mitsouko) who famously declared that he wanted his perfumes to evoke the scent of his mistress’ crotch. Given how many legendary perfumes were inspired by body odours and body fluids, sex seems to have been a recurring theme in early C20th mainstream perfumery, inversely proportional to the relative tolerance and permissiveness of society. As someone below pointed out, Furyo is reminiscent of vintage Chanel No 5, since many classics of 20th century perfumery were built around animalic notes. I have a modest collection of traditional Middle Eastern perfumes including several varieties of deer musk - deer musk imparts a kind of "sweaty sex" note that is very present in Furyo. Although Furyo opens with a blitzkrieg of animalic intensity that can be a bit overwhelming - it settles rapidly, softens and changes - the dry down is sublime: musky, slightly sweet, figgy, patchy and funky, showcasing the beauty underlying the legendary appeal and cult status of this style of perfumery. Perhaps not ideal as an office scent, Furyo is fairly unusual by contemporary standards and once settled, its beauty really shines.

I have a newer bottle. I don't know why many are calling this a beast mode scent. It is not. It has moderate projection and longevity. I think many who smell a fragrance that may be a bit animalic, go off the deep end and label it "Beast Mode". This scent smells of a very neutered Kouros with a bit of Aramis and Bogarts own One Man Show Ruby thrown in. I get lavender and musk in the opening, and the musk is more on the dirty side. This is where the animalic nature of the scent is present. I get no civet, no castoreum no tobacco. As it dries down, I get some patchouli, vetiver, labdanum (even though it is not listed as a note) and more musk. I do really like the scent, and I use it on days that I don't want to go true "Beast Mode" with Kouros. I have to change my vote in the "reminds me of" section, because, in the far drydown, I do get a similarity to Antaeus. I again think its because of the labdanum note that I smell. Would I buy it again if I use up this bottle? YES! I would even consider buying a backup bottle at the right price. As with all of these fragrances that have vintage roots, I would love to get my hands on a vintage bottle. Update 2022-06-01: I purchased a backup bottle for about $40 bucks from the well known Canadian discounter that I purchased my initial bottle. I consider that to be a great deal. I doubt that these currently available bottles are from some recently discovered stash of old stock bottles. My guess is that they brought it back into production for the quick cash grab. If anyone has a vintage bottle and the newer one, I would love to hear a description of the differences.

Not sure if I didn't apply enough but what I experienced was a kind of fuzzy/muddled version of Kouros. Perhaps this sample was from a reformulated bottle (though I don't think it was, as it didn't have any characteristics of these kinds of reformulations), but I think Joint for Men and vintage Kouros are superior. If and when I sample this again I'll update. Second wearing: I applied more and this time I got a bit of a camphorous quality, which I don't like. Joint is more dynamic and interesting to me, as is Kouros. Another one to consider here is Balenciaga Pour Homme, which has a sandalwood note rather than the strong woody/patchouli element in Furyo. Considering what I already own, Furyo has no "wow factor" and isn't pleasant enough to wear, unless perhaps my sensitivities change. It also has very little sweetness, unlike BPH (and it gets more powdery than BPH over time). The herbal element is interesting, but doesn't last long enough with strength to do much for me. I certainly can see the appeal, but I'd rather wear Ambre Sultan if I want herbs and amber, because that one is a bit sweet and doesn't have the obvious patchouli. UPDATE: I think the sample I had was from a newer bottle because I was able to obtain an older one and now it smells more defined/delineated to me, and "classier"/smoother too, especially once it dries down. Now I think it's closer to Balenciaga Pour Homme than anything else, at least if one compares the drydowns. I'd rather have a bottle of this than just about any niche scent!

I find the vintage to be very different from the modern. The vintage is much more animalic, and has less of the powdery nag champa smell that the modern version does. I got the modern first and loved it, but picked up a vintage hoping it might just be a bit smoother without the same metallic twang in the opening. Instead I got what smells like a different fragrance. I can see the relation, but if I smelled them each side by side without knowing I would not necessarily even be able to tell that they are supposed to be the same fragrance! Although I was disappointed that the vintage had less emphasis on the musky powdery nag champa accord that I really love in the modern, it is also clear to me that the vintage is more of a refined well-blended work of art, it is clearly of a higher quality as far as perfumery goes. But with the heavier animalics it is also more raunchy, more feral. Modern Furyo I could wear out without thinking much of it, but vintage Furyo would have me thinking twice about what message I am sending by smelling like this! Not that it is gross, it doesn't smell dirty or fecal to my nose, it just subliminally puts one in mind of the nether regions of a body. It smells kind of like Sadonaso without the vanilla, or a more interesting and deeper Afrika Olifant. The vintage is definitely better, but the modern is more versatile and more likable. But this is just after a few hours of wearing the vintage. Perhaps I will update with more thoughts after I have lived with it a bit more.

Disclaimer: The Jacques Bogart house is one of my guilty pleasures & I have over a dozen of them. I know they are cheap, synthetic & mostly border on obnoxious. They prefer to focus on pure, raw power than superior blending & composition. They are unapologetically masculine & don't follow the fragrance trends of today, and these are all the reasons why I love them. Furyo was never on my radar because I knew it was discontinued, so I didn't even bother searching for it. Then one day out of the blue, some websites that I often purchase from had it in stock. I was stunned & purchased a bottle straight away, in case it disappeared forever (again). When I got it I was blown away with how well put together it was for a Bogart. As soon as you sniff it you will be reminded of legends like Kouros & Lapidus Pour Homme. They don't smell exactly like this but when you sniff Furyo you know they are in the same genre & the same powerhouse era. Although, I think Furyo is the best out of all of them. I have and still wear Kouros and LPH and I would reach for Furyo over them 9 times out of 10. Dirty, clean, animalic & floral all at the same time. It really deserves to be held in higher regard like it's legendary peeers Kouros and Lapidus Pour Homme. I have since ordered another bottle so I never run out of this amazing juice, It's that good.

I just received this today and it was a successful blind buy. I understand that this frag was discontinued few years ago upon reading the reviews below and the price went up. I thought it came back so I got my brand new 30ml bottle for $25. A size good enough for my collection. I love its old school scent profile. It has a similar musky animalic vibe with YSL Kouros and Chanel Antaeus, and I have full bottles of both in my collection. If you love those two, you would probably love this one as well. This is a valuable addition to my collection under 80s-90's powerhouse. Younger age group may find this scent mature, dated or challenging but for me as a collector and a Baby boomer, I have to have this. 10/10 for this amazing "old school is cool" beauty “Let's spread the scents of peace and kindness. I’m uncertain if I ever experienced this scent in my younger days, but I can say with confidence that I never owned it. Who could possibly forget such a monumental work of art? What strikes me most after the musk is the presence of juniper berries. Whenever I detect them in any fragrance, they provide an uplifting sensation that most other notes fail to offer. I’m still not entirely sure why that is; perhaps it’s due to all the Christmas shops I was taken to as a child, which evoked a strong juniper berry atmosphere. Regardless of the reason, it brings me back to a more carefree time and thus remains one of my all-time favorite classics. Judging by the listings on eBay, I’m clearly not the only one hooked on it. Bogart might want to consider resurrecting this beastie. I'm currently halfway through one bottle, with 2 sealed away in my closet.

Real time review It's been a long time since I put it on, I just went to bed and decided to retrieve my pre ifra miniature from the bottom of the shelf. I've been up for 10 minutes and I'm in complete ecstasy, I think it’s one of the greatest use of animalics in a commercial perfume. This is how I imagine a castoreum-civet buttery cream, its godly blended, utterly smooth and with an endless depth . Aromatic and amber hints play a wonderful contrast. I have not tried the contemporary version but the sensation given by the natural animal components, given the incredible perceived quality (I am not an expert), I doubt it was possible to replicate it in the versions that followed the ifra restrictions. Still not have it in the collection but absolutely need a vintage furyo full bottle !

I just received the "newer" bottle of Furyo. I was shocked to see it available on fragrancebuy.ca...for like $28.(?!!). Smelled the "original" years ago...and I did not remember how it smelled today. Very 80's scent for sure, which I am happy with !! It gives off many different vibes....like aromatic....fougere...animalic....musky...and floral too. I would say IMO, it has a sweet undertone to it. Does NOT smell like IMHO of ANY of the above mentioned...???......maybe the "older" version did??? Anyways, I really am enjoying the version I got. It is so different than the "mainstream" scents of today. Performance/sillage I am finding average/medium so far.

All the while adding potent streams of musky, incendiary civetone into the mix. It's a beautiful night outside. You're warming youself next to a fire pit. Beside you is a rebellous civet, who arrived on his Harley Sportster 1200. He's doning a Hell's Angels vest. You're both drunk off your tits. You light a cigarette. He whips his cock out and pisses into the fire. He doesn't give a fuck and neither do you. The flame is so beautiful...The whole world can burn for all you care!

This was signature scent in the winter for the 4 years I lived in Boston. THIS STRONG stuff! Classy, masculine, and will put hair on your chest. This is a dying breed of fragrance. The ones from the 80s that lasted all day and projected for yards. This stuff could cut through the bitter Boston cold. I had most of the girls in my graduate school class jocking me while i wore this fragrance. In fact, I pulled my wife wearing this scent. I have 2 back up bottles that i never wear but it takes me back as soon as i smell them

Furyo should be labeled with “ SPRAY WITH CAUTION ⚠️ “ it’s really potent and pungent . But in a good way , Furyo doesn’t need any pretentious things like “EDP “ “Parfum/Profumo “ because it knows what’s up to. It’s already extreme and hard enough to dominate, embracing your nose but once you make it a part of yours. You’ll be ready to intimidate anyone who’s wearing “Cool Bleu de Sauvage d’Aventus Profumo” If you’re into Kouros you’ll sure appreciate this one ☝️ It’s elegant, relentlessly rough, weird and addicting.

A real shame they don't make this anymore. It's a sweet, animalistic scent that does a lot of things right. Opens up with a Nag Champa insence smell and then sweetens up while Rose walks along the background subtly. After a while it becomes more resinous with patchouli and musk mixing with the still sweet civet. There is amber in there too which rounds it out. Of course it still has that 80's powerhouse feel to it and can smell dated but not in the way you would think, instead it retains class and quality.

I have no words to express this masterpiece. more good of my beloved kouros, more complex, more floreale.la note civet is enhanced by cinnamon, clove makes it a little spicy, patchouli makes it modern, most wearable of kouros. is the perfect perfume that I waited. various spices and herbs then make it even more unique. i love him. 10/10 incredible performance. not cloying and is easily wearable. reminds me of the south Italy, smells of Salento. i do not know why. is so sexy but not vulgar. to have.

Not even going to lie .... I love this stuff but I like old school fragrances and this one while defiantly feeling old school it sets itself apart from the others of that era, Don't get me wrong you can defiantly tell this is men's fragrance from the 80's. It has a earthy feel to it, It smells like a witch shop is the best way I can describe it and I mean that in a good way and this stuff lasts and projects like a champ, If you like some of the old time fragrances to me this is a must own

I blind bought this based on reviews here and on BN, and I am very happy with my purchase! Furyo is a "funky" fragrance that's right up my alley; for reference, I also like Yatagan, Chypre-Siam, Quorum, and Kouros which Furyo immediately reminded me of. I see "powdery" in the note tree which would normally make me hesitate, but this is more "dusty" and I like it. Performance is really very impressive as is it's price point on Amazon. Recommend.

Jacques Bogart's Furyo is good, it's great. It's not as melt-your-face-off crazy as the accords and reputation might lead you to believe, which I think is actually a testament to its strength. Cloudy day today and I biked to the office: easy reach. I don't want to smell Kouros or Antaeus right now. Soft, powdery, lavender-amber-bergamot classic fougere-lite, occupying the same territory as King Lagerfeld. Definitely buy Lagerfeld first.

Love it, have a newer bottle and it is strong as hell. It smells truly vintage and super animalic. It has a very appealing, incensey smell throughout the perfume life. A much better buy than Lapidus Pour Homme (too powdery for me) or the modern Kouros (not that animalic). I agree that it is somewhat similar to current Antaeus, however Antaeus is less sweet, a bit less raw power and more refined.

Starts with that very literal soapy/poopy toilet-cleaning vibe reminiscent of Lapidus pour Homme. Then it settles intriguingly on a burning stick of incense ... maybe one made of cow dung but it’s not too skanky at this point. Overall I’m surprisingly reminded of Rien, with that civet, patchouli and aldehyde combo. Addictive, and an easy blind buy for the real freaks.

I thought I was "seeing things" and/or going "crazy"......but I just bought Furyo 3.3oz spray (different bottle than the one shown above, more like the newer bottle Bogart offerings). $28 on fragrance buy.ca...??? I am expecting it has been a re-release...???.....and...reformulated for sure...!!! (?). Anyone know about this...???

"SOUL TO SQUEEZE"

Got to love and respect this ! Musky-animalic , civet-like-powdery creation... Woody-spicy profile, very well blended and put togheter ! Patchouli, ambers, tobacco like , really wonderful and complex ! They don't make them like this anymore :/

My first perfume love story. I was 17 going to university. It was so expensive and smelled so rich to me that i only put one tiny drop behind each of my ears. Felt wealthy,unique! It has been reformulated since and smells a bit diluted.

Typical 80's brutish, musky, soapy, masculine with some generic incense sticks accord.. sounds odd but, that's pretty much it. Love or, hate. I spilt some yesterday while decanting and its still projecting like a mother fucker!!

The bottle I bought is a version produced in the 2000s. but there is no similarity with either kouros or antaeus mentioned here. I will have a vintage bottle soon. I think it's been redesigned.

I wanted to add about it's name,that means litteraly"captive"or"someone in captivation"and for that in moder days Furyo means"bad guy",like the guy they wanted to portray in Dior Jules.

This is one of the greatest mens musk perfumes of all time! I'm so glad to own it and I love it. It also makes me appreciate the synthetic but realistic animalic note in Antaeus

I finished my older bottle so picked up a newer bottle abou a year ago, still strong and masculine. Reminds me of hanging around the bowling alley back in the early 80's.

I love love love this fragance and I am so sad that it is discontinued, if anyone have a bottle in the draws that you don't use or don't like , please let me know. :)

I received my bottle of vintage J.B. Furyo today and it's a sensational punch. First sniff out of the box - YSL Kouros. More later.

I loved this scent as soon as I smelt it. Musky, warm, sharp, unique. If you want to make a strong statement then furyo is perfect.

Ted Lapidus + Kouros. Beast Mode. If you love classical fragrances, especially the two mentioned above, you’ll love this one!

Insane longevity, smells like Dragon's Blood incense or like an occult bookstore. Love love love it.

my god... where do i start??? i got a vintage sample of it after i was curiously eyeing a full unopened bottle but now i don't want it anymore. don't get me wrong. i love vintage scents especially anything that plays with animalic notes. however with this? after one spray of the 2ml sample i got off my chair.. went outside and just stood there to aerate my nostrils with oxygen... this could scrape paint off the wall. however i didn't wash it off. it's not that i don't like it. it's just too damn strong in a way that just isn't pleasant for the wearer and people around you. please miss me with that fake alpha male fantasy talk. however i think for someone into fragrances, this should be comparable as having your first experience with smelling salts. it was a shocking and bizarre fun experience. ''Sexy without being vulgar'', i am for certain that no woman ever, even back then found this attractive smelling lol... lets leave it at that that's all i got to say about it. like i genuinely just find it fun to smell and that's it. but master piece? get out of here LOL... as someone who really loved kouros and even got to smell the old formulation once. it just not in the same class of parfumery. kouros is definitely dirty and animalic and it is not a weak fragrance even with modern formulations. it just always made great use taming difficult animalic notes so masterfully. furyo however?? smells like the adrenalized sweat of a frightened raccoon. i scrolled around and laughed my ass off reading the comparisons to a porta potty or urinal. YES!.. i agree. some even said it smells like being held captive? YES that too.. if fragrances could have their own movie Furyo would be a horror film! like fun corny brutal 80s slasher! matter the fact i think jason voorhees would smell like this. it's just an interesting smell and that's it. and i cannot hate on it but i will whoever wears it around me with a burning passion. gave me a bit of a headache to attentively break it down. quite fatiguing chemical weapon/10

I have finally figured out Furyo! Or at least how to wear it. Others have already stated the basics - it's an 80s powerhouse, indeed it's a turbo charged Porsche 911, It must be one of the strongest scents ever created. And it's very floral which you'd never know from the pyramid. It doesn't so much bathe you in flowers as drown you in them like an over eager no hoper wannabe lover buying blooms for his hopeless love interest on valentine's. Oooff! Roses by the bucket! But, it is indeed something quite special beneath all that. (I have an original formula can't comment on later changes). For me the castoreum is far stronger than the civit, this is far closer to early Anteus than Kouros - very surprised that comparison hasn't been made. (I agree with my fellows, it smells nothing like Kouros). There is animal magnetism deeply embedded in this. It doesn't project, it throbs like a pulsing artery, it engorges the air around it. Some scents are lost to the wearer within minutes, this suffocates you for hours. It hits you like an attack of chlorine gas. Gas, gas, quick boys, an ecstasy of fumbling... And yet, and yet... Finally I have worked it out. The dry down is a long time coming. Several hours. But what is left behind is magical, sexual, intoxicating and seductive. Spray this on your chest at least an hour before going out. Expect it to be noticed for good and ill. But after three hours or so you will start to exude pure dirty sex. It's still floral, it's a very bisexual aura, but the civet and the castoreum merge like a rutting beaver and a horny cat into something so filthy it should have an 18 certificate. If you're going out with the sole intention of having sex with strangers in possible public locations this is the fragrance for you. It's terrifying, it's mesmerising, it should have a health warning, it's one of a kind. They will never make it's like again. And if I could survive the first couple of hours of auto-erotic asphyxiation I'd wear it more often...

An oriental-floral powerhouse that has a deserved cult status in my opinion. On first spray, it smells seriously aggressive and quite dated with masses of musk and civet that make it veer dangerously into chest-wig macho territory and might be off-putting to some timid noses. At this stage, it effortlessly recalls a bygone era like the 1970s & 80s where its natural habitat would presumably have been on an alpha-male dark and brooding charmer (Amitabh Bachchan, Omar Sharif, etc.). Its closest mainstream relative at this point is definitely Kouros because of the strong civet note. This fragrance then reveals multiple notes and layers as it develops, keeping this wearer delightfully intrigued and sniffing at it incessantly. All the while it maintains a very flowery demeanour. It eventually settles into a surprisingly dandy type of scent with loads of character that’s simultaneously sweet, flowery, and musky. Excellent projection & longevity like all the Jacques Bogart fragrances I've smelt so far. Shockingly cheap too at around US$10 for a 100 ml bottle! Recommended for so much more than just its brash name and bright red overtly kitsch bottle - that by the way always brings a nostalgic chuckle to my face. Furyo could potentially replace any number of flowery or amber or civet or patchouli orientated staples in one’s wardrobe (Zino, 1881 Amber, Kouros, Quorum, etc.), such is its complexity. It’s a must try especially for Kouros lovers as this is fresher and better IMHO. I believe I may have the reformulated version apparently. Anyway, this is surely one gem that I’ll certainly buy again and again, and thankfully it’s still widely available in some parts of the world at rock bottom prices.

update after the second try: I tested it on blotter. Initial blast is enormous...That's pot pourri of floral notes, citrus, lavender cinnamon, and animatic notes. Then it calms down a bit for the lavender and cinnamon to take the stage. Sniff close, I can sense castoreum, which is much lighter than that in Yatagan, and probably civet with which I'm not familiar. There is also a strong soapy scent. Then it just subsides gradually with minor development of the notes. The overall impression is dated such that I could imagine a old lady layered various nice but old florida waters and lit a cigar before she strided out of the door. After 24+h, when all the notes fade away and mingle with each other, the fragrance is more like stick incense with vintage floral and cinnamon aroma. Strange but charming. The whole process is characteristic of super projection and astounding longevity. I definitely wouldn't wear it, but I would like to keep a bottle to savor.
