Rosso Epicureo

Well, this is certainly a shape-shifter! I’m quite shocked at the low review number it gets. I’m typically an amber-incense gal who likes heavy hitter “masculine” perfumes. I’m not fond of Jasmine “in perfume”—just nature, and I’m not a white floral lover. Having said that: this hit with a 1-2 punch in the face of Jasmine, blasting along with Orange Blossom and Tuberose, indoles surging toward my nostrils. I love it. I can’t believe it. I have a requisite bottle of Fracas and few other tuberose “gardenia” perfumes that I wear a few times a year—but WOWZA! This is great. When I opened up Fragrantica I saw Plum. Plum? Pepper? Artemisia? Okay. Patchouli? The Cassis and the Plum do appear in the middle notes, and the White Flower misile launch carries a payload of fruitiness, so yes, it’s there, and now a sweet-floral cloud. To me this pays homage to Fracas and Carnal Flower but is its own thing with the sweet-wine fruity quality. It’s also a bit like Andy Tauer’s Fruitchulli—though not as strong as that one. I think one of the excellent reviews below said it was “dated.” While I agree with the reviewer about most aspects, I think the only things that dates it is the white flowers, so retro-80’s. Too, I “see” it as white—not red. It’s some kind of white juicy fruited-flower. I like it. I think it’s fun, comforting, sexy in a flirty-fun way. Not office friendly—silage is huge! It does mellow about an hour in, but I was surprised that my skin which normally eats up perfume just projects this like crazy. I don’t find this unisex. I know perfume doesn’t care where it lands, but I think it skews feminine, and I do think it’s “young”—I abhor comments about “age”—and “perfume,” but I do see a 17–27 year old tripping along in this. That’s not my age bracket and I’m enjoying....

Rosso Epicureo is a lush, sweet floral-fruity that also manages to be high-quality and grown-up. To echo @darcy6249 below, this is utterly mouth-watering. There is a lot going on here, but it manages to be a seamless, cohesive scent with many points of interest. It reminds me of Memo Lalibela, but is distinct. RE is sweet and fruity from initial spray, led by a luscious plum note. The blackcurrant is kir-like, tart and boozy, and some citrus adds freshness. I'm not a lover of fruity scents, but this is how to do a fruity accord. There is a peppery undertone, and this alongside the bitter, herbal artemisia makes for a nice counterpoint to the fruitiness. The floral heart follows after a little while, made up of heady, sweet white florals. Tuberose is very prominent, sweet and bubblegum-like, with tropical ylang ylang rounding it out with its creaminess. Orange blossom amps up the sweetly tropical accord, a seamless progression from the fruity opening. The vanilla in the base keeps things sweet without being syrupy. As it dries down, some powdery rose becomes evident, complemented to perfection by the earthy patchouli in the base. The white floral accord persists, becoming increasingly powdery, and bolstered by the fruitiness that permeates this scent throughout. It becomes sweetly musky as it fades, with powdery vanilla evident until final fade. Sillage is moderate and longevity is long-lasting. It is a feminine transeasonal scent. A floral-fruity masquerading as a beachy white floral with some earthiness tying it all together, RE is a satisfying, surprisingly refined scent despite its sweetness. I'm not typically a lover of sweet scents, but I loved this. 4.5/5.

This is a lush and mouth-watering plum with the kir royale accord. Rosso Epicureo by Jacque Fath is a piece of plum red joy! Based on reviews I was expecting a strong tuberose- and I was curious. However, this is a vacation in a bottle, but the bottle is posh, in the most OCD way. Being American, I am a sucker for crests- this has 2 on it, heavy weight, magnetic cap, cut crystal design on the bottom. I took the bottle to work because I just love spraying it. Happily surprised that doesn't smell citrusy nor floral, nor really fruity yet it smells like all that in varying degrees.

From the sample set I got, Rosso Epicureo is the one I ended up purchasing a full size bottle of (though there are 4 others that I want to get in the 15ml 4-packs, but 2 are not available at the moment). The deep red fruits are tempered by a milky, creamy tuberose - to me is like a match made in heaven. It reminds me of my long lost love from the Bath & Bodyworks Sensual line of Black Currant Vanilla, mixed with Carnal Flower. It lasts maybe half the day on me - at least 5 hours. I love it.

I love Rosso Epicureo by Jacques Fath! The plum and the Kir Royal accord stay with me throughout the day. It's a uplifting fragrance tilts my perspective in a positive light. There's a boozy quality that reminds me- "the work will be over, fight harder to relax soon". I get the tuberose here in a very managed sense- floral and rich. Beautiful blend, such mastery of materials! I want more of Jacques Fath... maybe Christmas!

Best description, a heavy dense bouquet of indolic florals with some dark fruits to give it lift. Extremely rich and powerful scent with great performance. You will love or hate this. If the idea of piles and piles of heavy indolic florals intrigues you then this is the best you’re gonna find for the price.

Tuberose, Plum, blackcurrant, musc & amber. Lovely. Elegant. Chic. Flirty. Creamy Really, really nice I can fall for this one. Head over heels. (Samplekit)

I can understand why this perfume evokes such extrreme reactions - it is indeed a rather extreme fragrance. No matter how deep you are gonna want to delve into it, you"ll most probably stop trying right at the start once you hit the sweet plum and black currant combo brick wall. It's a kind of sweet yummy type of scents which in my opinion is suitable for colder weather nights out only. And although I still don't know if I love it or not, I'm certain I was on the verge of making a big mistake of selling my 100 ml bottle at some point. I am glad I didn't, becuse no matter what people might say, it is unique and special, just not for everybody, a love or hate fragrance for sure. I'm still on the fence, but getting closer towards the 'love' department. 2 sprays will suffice.

In the beginning, this reminds me of a sweet rosé wine on a sunny afternoon. It opens with a gentle blast of pepper but quickly begins to shift and morph into a plum so realistic you can practically track the stages of it ripening. Unfortunately, or fortunately for some, the heady swoon of tuberose absolute and jasmine continues to build until it craters all else like an atom bomb. In the 2+ hour mark some of the more delicate fruits and sweetness emerge again, but it's certainly a wild ride to get there.

Testing my sample; @Darcy6249$ is correct, the plum note is very mouthwatering, and along with the blackcurrant reads 'tongue-smacking'. Its sweetness remains as the florals start to show, and they lean indolic and add a lot of olfactory heft. Wears heavy, my little sample is beaming up from my arm and hasn't let up in the past 2 hours. We'll see how it fares during the day. Warm/cool weather appropriate.

I really like it. It's different in a good way. The longevity and projection are also great. There are so many different notes in this one so it's hard for me to determine what exactly I am smelling but overall it's a lightly sweet and spicy scent that wears well in the cold(er) weather.

Fruity white florals. Plum and blackcurrant, jasmine and a green tuberose are the main players to my nose. A top coat of orange adds freshness, with bits of other floral notes faintly hanging around. Moderate projection for 2-3hr, longevity 8-10hr.

This is so fun and surprising. Whoever said it has an ’80s vibe is totally right. Bright, fruity, and a bit over the top. Not for me at all, but I desperately want people around me to wear it.

Not sure what possessed me to purchase this fragrance. I purchased a new, unopened bottle at a really great price. Something about the notes intrigued me. It was the floral notes however (tuberose, jasmine, rose) that pulled me in. I'm not sure what to say about this unique & unusual perfume. Rosso Epicurio is definitely unlike any other perfume I own, unlike any other perfume I recently tried. With this said, I would NOT categorize this fragrance as a floral perfume, or a floriental. For me, this perfume is a spicy, fruity, red-wine-like perfume with a patchouli, vanilla, amber base. The perfume's opening is aldehydic, FRUITY and very peppery. In the opening, I get a strong plum note, along with a melange of other fruits ( blackberry, orange, bergamot). If floral notes are present, those notes are barely detectable. The dry down is better than the opening with the continuation of fruity notes, VERY DIMINISHED florals, musk, patchouli and amber. But on my skin, Rosso Epicureo pulls fruity, musky and very very sweet. Overall, I find the fragrance rather disappointing and most suitable for a younger demographic.

Fragrance which is really strange for me. It is like rose, but not Damascan which I love, not Bulgarian which I hate. Not orange rose for sure. It is strange, cold - air conditioning like - rose which is flat in fragrance and nothing is interesting there. Similar like synthetic one in mainstream perfumes, but you can smell real true rose in it. And what more? Cheap, dry red wine added a little. Sillage is moderate, rather close to skin, longevity up to 4-6 hours on skin. Nothing to be crazy about, nothing I could remember for a longer time. Nothing I may buy myself. Probably Patchouli makes this fragrance colder but I do not really feel Patchouli itself. Maybe I should try this on a hot, summer day after taking the liquid from the fridge? But maybe no. Not mine. ps. after 4 hours I could smell Tuberose, but it is nothing which makes me "to buy". Sorry.

This perfume is like those scenes where a person without anxiety makes a movie scene about a person with anxiety and it’s so overdone and over-the-top. Rosso epicureo is intriguing, and disgusting. It’s nauseating, sweet, jammy, harsh, smooth, light, heavy, sparkly, stale. It’s everything, and it’s not good.

The hardest type of perfumery to like in my opinion is an overdose of white florals. That’s what this is. Not a fan, 4/10

I have a 3ml decant I will try again later but first experience actually terrified me. I nearly vomited it smelt so repulsive - tonsil stone /rotten milk repulsive. Head-rearing-back-almost-dropping the-sprayer, bad. That’s a rare occurrence. And perhaps something my nose hadn’t smelt before? I’ll try a few more times in the future. But for now it’s in the “approach with caution” pile. Every note sounded great. The experience ? Not so much.

Approaching Rosso Epicureo by Jacques Fath with the anticipation of finding a niche, high-quality alternative to Poison by Dior, I had high expectations. However, my experience fell short of these hopes. Despite the promising blend of tuberose, black fruits, patchouli, and vanilla, the scent ended up resembling plum syrup to me, lacking the complexity and allure I had anticipated.

Inexplicably horrible to my nose. I hated it but also had an organic reaction where I almost puked instantly when I held it close to my nose longer than 1s. Something is odd with the entire Essentials range in my case. I loved Lilac Exquis but the rest is as bad as it gets. That is 11 perfumes that smell so bad I cannot stand them, what are the odds for that??

I like wearing this every now and again, but every time I do, it gives me Las Vegas vibes: it's just a little too much of everything, too heady, too outsized, too stimulating. It opens with a peal of tuberose at once so humid, realistic, and cigarettey (iykyk) that combined with the fruity licquer (raspberry or grenadine), it's almost enough to knock you over. Ylang comes through strongly at this point with its narcotic, tropical floralcy, and a grape-concentrate jasmine with soapy nuances comes and goes. The near-eucalyptic funk of tuberose gives just a hint of cannabis at this stage. Synesthetically it is strongly red and green, the frequency of the colors humming next to each other like neon lights. Then as this dries down, it resembles more and more -- bear with me -- Narciso edt (the black cube). There is a powdery, musky, cinnamony, rosy, creamy-woody patchouli in the base which to me seems very mismatched to the tropical opening. Perfumey, soapy, and natural-smelling by turns, it is still bottom-heavy and opaque at every phase. I only like this sometimes, and yet I can't help but admit that there is something charming about its over-the-top boldness. It's one of the most interesting fragrances I've tried in the past year, and my decant has kept my attention even though I traded the bottle away. Puts me in mind of a jubilant, energetic 1950s showgirl, wearing coral ostrich feathers and holding sparklers in both hands.

They tried to make an outstanding soapy tubereuse, deep greens and sweet, creamy berry scent and it is nice for the first 5-10 minutes but leading to dry down, there is a faint, chemical morning breath scent lingering behind and I just cant stand it im sorry. I have no problems with its quality yet the scent itself is not for me. Edit after an hour: OH OKAY HOLD ON After the initial burst dried down (I think it could have been a bit chaotic due to my decant being fresh out the delivery since it is actually advised to let them rest for a day or two) this is actually quite nice. It reminds me of Figment Woman by Amouage but with a teeny tiny bit more creamier and just a hint of woody touch like wet cinamon bark but not at all as much as tubereuse astrale. Okay, I like the dry down. It went from a 3/10 to 8/10 solid. I like this one

Heady, very sweet plum and tuberose scent. I know, they say this has many other notes but on my skin this is mostly a heady Tuberose scent with fruity, sugared tones. It is loud. I think it's well done, but I won't be buying a full bottle because it reminds me a little bit of Tubereuse Criminelle and I don't like that scent... Sample it first.

This one is very strange... there surely is a civet note that makes it a little harsh at first but it kind of goes away later. Reminded me of Jazabelle niece perfume i have a sample of, however this one is more berry and the other is tropical fruit. It’s great and awful at the same time. I’ll try it in the summer and see if it opens up nice.

This one that makes me feel like I’m going to be sick. I’ve smelled a lot of perfume and have a collection of 150+. This makes me sick to my stomach, not sure what combination of notes does it. Do no blind buy!!
