Coccobello

Absolutely cracking! (Oof, I'm so sorry for the terrible punning, but this is such a light and fresh and happy scent it makes me feel all silly and don't-careish.) Totally photorealistic coconut at first - astonishingly good, with not even a hint of sun cream or fake-ness, just gorgeous, melting, rich, natural, herbal goodness. Beautiful wafts of real palm leaf, an overwhelming sense impression of a secluded little white-sand island all your very own, with young creamy coconuts within arm's reach. Lovely tang of salt and dry wood too. The only bum notes I can detect are a tiny bit of uneasy, slightly musky floral (but it's a safe distance off) and the pretty feeble longevity - that ravishing coconut burst of the open stays around for just under an hour and the smellscape later on is just a little less beautiful. Otherwise this is blissful, the most divine tropical beach you've never had to yourself. Bear in mind: I gravitate to dark moody scents, and fake/cloy/artificial coconut smell makes me heave. This one seduces me completely and makes me want to change into something in a loud tropical print almost immediately. So: in its class, this is a coconut conqueror and yes I *am* completely nutty about it.

Ecstatic to finally receive a sample of this today. This shit smells like the sultriest, handsomest 30-year-old at the Mango Deck. He wants to walk down the moonlit beach with you because the party is too loud. I can't really say anything here that hasn't been said. Upon opening, there's an incredible blend of salt, booze, coconut, and greenery. Very salty (and so good). Definitely an outdoor scent -- I noticed it perk up a lot more when I stepped outside in the breeze. It did start to fade significantly after about half an hour, but I might've just been nose blind from huffing my arm. I ended up showering after that, so I'll check back when I test it for real. This juice is no joke. High hopes for the dry-down. Update (06/11/2021): Disclaimer -- my sample of this is in a vial, which might affect the performance. Either I'm not putting enough on, or this just isn't very strong on my skin. It fades pretty fast on me too. Nevertheless, I'm still in love with the smell. The woody base notes come to life quicker than expected, and they're nice and dry. The saltiness remains and the greenery fades. Hopefully I can afford a full bottle of this soon. I'm whipped. x jon

I'm in love! ♡♡♡ So comely-fresh, realistic and mouth watering green coconut accord!🧉And the salty vanilla accord with the buttery and sweet whiteflower scent of gardenia evoke the feeling of creamy sunscreen lotion and the beach salty breeze which carries the white flower scent from the far. And the palm note with santal makes me see in front of my eyes the coconut-palm trees and makes me feel i'm sunbathing on abadoned, white sandy beautiful wild-nature tropical beach and drinking fresh coconut water. This gives me the perfect, nature close & calm tropical vacation vibe♡ This one layering with the also coconut watery and silky-airy vanillary Mugler Alien godess is Heaven!♡ ( alien godess is more vanillary, but also has the moutwatering coconut water in it, but not so potent. While cocobello is totally a green coconut scent with some salty vanilla in the background. So they are soo perfect together for me! This combo is the scent what i was aiming for to wear at summer. ♡ 🧉🍈🍦🏝

This may be one of the best summer fragrances I have got my nose on to date. Now grant it I am currently undergoing a rough transition from my beloved dark resenious and smoky winter fragrances I so adore. . This fragrance hits all levels of what a summer, tropical getaway scent should reach. Coconut is an obvious note but it's light. It's there but the bergomonte citrus vibe is just as present and there's a lot more going on here than one may think. Now I was shocked to see this on the feminem side, even though I don't roll with the whole gender bias. This can easily be worn on a gentleman as the citrus here is done in a masculine way. The coconut is still there to remind one that it's summer time and it's here to have fun and of cheer. A playful scent that captures the essence of a attractive young man or woman on a weekend getaway to the tropical islands . . . Perfect. Scent 9/10 Longevity 8/10 Projection 8/10 Quality 9/10 Overall 8.5/10

The best ever coconut perfume. I LOVE coconut fragrances but the issue I have that most of times the creations are way too sweet to my liking and the scents become cloying. Eg. BBW coconut focused scents, or Comptoir Sud Pacific. Virgin Islands Water comes close to Coccobello but with some reason that turns into bugspray on my skin. Coccobello is very well balanced green and fresh coconut scent. Even though it's unisex and the name "bello" may suggest a better fit for males I find this is beautiful on females. Especially in the middle of the transformation when the flowers and vanilla dominate. My only problem is that there is no smaller version available then 100ml which is quite pricey. Otherwise a must have for coconut lovers!

I really loved Cococabana by P.de Nicolai, but I never got a chance to buy a full size bottle and now it's discontinued :( So...why am I writing this? Yes, Cocobello reminds me of Cococabana somehow. I just found a nearly empty sampler of Cococabana and compared the two scents. Cococabana is a much heavier scent with this nice bitter orange twist in the beginning. The green notes are more present, therefor Cocobello is a bit more woody with a noticable sandalwood note in the end. On my skin Cococabana has the better longevity and a heavier sillage, but i like Cocobello. It's definitly worth a try and can be an alternative for Cococabana Fans. (english is not my mother tongue. Please be indulgent to me :) )

Opens watery, like coconut water and the husk, or maybe the whole palm tree. Dries down with a strong sea salt note and the coconut and creamy sandalwood. I wouldn't say it's sunscreeny exactly but more like you had sunscreen on and you just got out of the ocean. I feel like I can smell the sand too. Very evocative of being on a tropical beach. I could see wearing this whenever I want that feeling. It's totally unisex. This was a like for me when I first tried my sample in spring but now in the heat of summer, I LOVE it! Coccobello really captures something realistic about the beach, not just an idealized sketch of the beach. If I close my eyes I can feel the sun and sand and hear the waves crashing.

I was looking for a realistic beach scent and this is it. I can't understand why people are reminded of being at the beach when they smell something like VIW. I've never been to one that smells like artificial lime and ultra sweet coconut candy. Coccobello is sea salt, palm trees, sand, and water from a fresh green coconut. This isn't one I would wear to smell good for other people. I wear it for myself to conjure memories and to be transported to my favorite vacation spots when I'm stuck at home. It's not a performance beast but I can smell it without putting my arm to my nose, which is perfect because these smells are subtle when I'm at the beach. This gets a 9/10 from me.

You know when you know you’re going to love it. Edit: she’s arrived! Not quite what I expected but haven’t given it long enough to dry down. Soft and gentle. Less green than what I thought. Slight plastic. Complex. I’m liking it so far.... This is a skin scent as far as I can tell. I’m hoping that changes. I have sprayed about 15 times on clothes and skin and having to push my nose into skin and clothes to be able to smell anything. This has happened the past 3 times I’ve worn it so upped the sprays each time. I don’t want to admit it to myself but I am a bit disappointed about it. I want to be able to smell it more.

Cocobello (now renamed Palm) is a very interesting fragrance for the summer. It's a great take on coconut with some hints of vanilla and sea salt. It reminds me of the smell of warm beach sand, the coconut is interestingly used here, almost with a roasted or caramelized scent. The salt balances the sweetness of the coconut, and the whole provides a very interesting take on a summer fragrance, not too sweet or fresh. It lasts the whole day on the skin and clothes, and has a moderate sillage. This fragrance will definitely set you apart in the summer.

I get the fresh coconut milk, potent gardenia and the green note from the palm leaf. It's a shame these weaken so quickly. I like the addition of the salt that for me adds a cooling aspect. The soft sandalwood, benzoin and wood note base suits this perfectly and these notes last the longest. It never gets too strong or cloying. A lovely summer scent with moderate silage and average longevity. This is actually one of my favourite summer scents because smells tropical yet most importantly fresh. Its not too sweet either.

Alas, coconut for adults! Not the typical teenage: "here's some coconut milk from the store, lets drench you in it and see if you get a headache",- but mature: "please climb the palmtree and get that nice coconut, so that we could mix some lovely coctails with the juice". The whole process of getting through palm leaves and mixing a drink takes about an hour, but then it is perfection. Warm, lactonic, coconut based, with a pinch of smoked salt virgin coctail. Very summery and relaxing.

This is really nice, but I think it would be better on a younger man or woman if worn alone. I also have a sample of Creed VIW and it smells nothing like this - the Creed is like a barely there lime scent on me. This has a definite summer vibe, but not enough coconut for me. I get the palm, very fresh and green, the ozone and salt, and maybe a little woodiness. Longevity was great though, maybe if I mixed it with something a little sweeter... I will have to give it another try.

I am surprised how much I like this scent after trying the sample a few times. When I first sprayed it, I thought the coconut was too intense and suntan lotion smelling but when it dries down, on my skin it becomes the most evocative "day after the beach" scent with a creamy mix of coconut, salt and woods. I think I would wear this any time of year, day or night, but it's certainly a fun summer day scent that brings the beach to wherever you are.

This stuff is a mystery still till this day... it’s most certainly coconut through and through, fresh yet dusty if you were to take the hairs from a coconut and isolate them completely from the meat... you would have this. There is something holding it together it’s neither sweet nor floral yet it is lol. I detect zero “funk” or Body Odor. I’m also very sensitive to vanilla and I can’t smell one drop of it. All in all I’ll give it a 7/10

One of my summer favourites. I live near the beach in The Hague, The Netherlands, and typically our springs and summers are cool (but usually also with some hot days), and this fragrance really suits the weather here. On colder days it gives you a summery feeling and a nice cozy, airy hug of coconut, gardenia and light woods, and on hot days it has a bit of a cooling, refreshing effect that prevents you from feeling sticky.

This is a hot-day-on-the-beach-drinking-cool-coconut-water-straight-from-the-fruit in a bottle. Warm skin that smells like suntan lotion and salt. Coccobello is warm and refreshing at the same time. It‘s not some in your face sugary coconut monster; it is green, creamy, delicate, clean and subtle. Unlike most coconut scents it doesn‘t need a beach and ocean backdrop to feel right. Any summer day anywhere will do.

Gardenia, palm leaf and coconut create a unique, greenish, tropical scent. These three notes are actually all I detect and to me it smells almost like a fig and coconut blend. The dry down is a little less green than the opening and even slightly balmy due to the vanilla and benzoin. Sillage and longevity are both pretty amazing on my skin. ❤❤❤❤

This is one of the best coconut fragrance for me- very vell balanced , absolute unisex and extremely smart. Now is fall but I need another one full bottle- nothing is similar like Cocobello. The Palm leaf and the sea salt is so good with the coconut and the santal_gardenia gives a pleasant creamyness to it. Perfect Parfume. LOVE.

Creamy, coconutty sandalwood yet still fresh and green at the start. Tropical without a hint of sunscreen or fruit. Feels like the beach, not the overcrowded kind with people sunbathing all over, but like the kind that you have to hike to get to with no one else around, undisturbed by humans.

not the usual sweet stuff i go for, but Coccobello is pretty nonetheless. the gardenia/sea salt/coconut/vanilla had me curious, so i got a sample. this is very green, fresh, almost soapy for the first hour or so. after that, the lasting result is a nice salty floral with a touch of coconut.

Beautiful. It could share esscence with sunscreen and lipstick, all being coco based. This one is a fragrance and acts as a love for coco fun beach. Energetic. Surprised with longetivy, solid 6 hrs. 8/10

Here is my review for one of my favourite scents of all time. I have been obsessed with gardenias, green and beachy notes + coconuts since for EVER. I have tested over 2.5K scents left and right and made a lot of mental notes of bests coconuts out there. Learned that I don't like synthetic, sweet coconut compositions and that there aren't many 'green coconuts' out there and let it go. Happy with my Bronze Goddess, I gave up on my search for the perfect coconut scent. Sniffed a candle at Bath and Bodyworks that smelled like palm leaves, loved it, regretted there aren't any scents like that to wear. Then, this launched. I couldn't believe my eyes - all of my favourite notes, all in ONE SCENT? Gardenia? Palm leaves? Coconut? On a warm, woody base with beachy notes? Are you kidding me? Wasn't able to test it anywhere, anxious to do so. Finally, a year after it launched I was able to test it for the very first time and loved it so much, however the hefty price tag kept me from buying it (please, make 50ml bottles!). This year, I finally got it. And let me tell you - If you like unisex, beachy + coconuts you are in for a real treat. It starts off salty and fresh - it's a green coconut with fresh coconut water pouring down your salty, fresh out of the ocean skin. It then transforms to a warm, woody scent, still salty, still green. Green and cozy, isn't that difficult to wrap your head around! It's absolutely unique and special, I haven't experienced anything like it and nothing comes close on the market. Doesn't have a gender, nice enough to be worn all year around. Excellent quality, longevity and sillage both impressive, for a beachy, salty scent. I am happy :)

A tropic scent. What should one get? To me, VIW is the king of this template. Creed excels at this. Fresh and sweet, yet very wearable. Coccobello attempts a similar agenda. Take fresh coconut shavings and mix with palm leaf, and bingo a scent is made. It's certainly not bad. It goes on the skin surprisingly sour. The sea salt note from Sel Marin is evident here. Shortly after, it goes semi-sweet in the drydown, and I get mainly coconut, palm leaf and hints of woods. I respect Coccobello. It's certainly a great scent. But it doesn't tickle my funny bone, and I am not in love with it. For all the things it does well, it lacks that thing that makes VIW, and even Diesel Only The Brave Wild, great: Fun. VIW is fun in a bottle. It brings to mind pina coladas, relaxation and the beach. Coccobello comes across as much more serious. It's the business man who secretly wishes to be on vacation. When you create a tropical scent, it should be fun and relaxed. It should transport the wearer to a place of relaxation. Or do what Un Jardin Sur Le Nil does, come across as evocative and breathtaking. Unfortunately Coccobello accomplishes neither for me. I genuinely respect it. It is worth the money, but don't buy it, expecting a VIW derivative. Coccobello's execution and agenda is different. Longevity is very good - 8-9 hours. Rating: 6.5/10

Coccobello by James Heeley: Starts off very green due to the palm leaf, almost like walking through a fruit and vegetable aisle. The coconut is there but it's more of a coconut water feel than a coconut milk feel if that makes sense? I also get an ever so slight boozy note but it's nothing crazy so it makes sense that it's not listed. The gardenia is there too which is nice. After a while there's a slight saltiness that comes through along with more of a richer coconut but I don't necessarily pick up on any vanilla. The drydown consists of sandalwood and cedar but there is still a vague green/coconut touch that stays with the scent all the way through. It's unisex but if I had to choose I'd say it leans more feminine. Performance is mediocre, you'll probably only really get anything out of this in the summer but when it does project its really nice in the air. Overall a high quality and unique take on the coconut/salty/woody DNA due to that palm leaf note, perfect for a summer niche. Top notes: Palm leaf, gardenia Middle notes: Salt, coconut, palm Base notes: Sandalwood, cedar, palm, coconut 3.5/5

This is not suntan lotion. This isn't a pina colada either. As other reviewers have stated, this is a very green coconut. The palm leaves are in the forefront - backed by a very green scent coconut water. It's a very earthy and natural smell and it reminds me of the way the air smells down in The Florida Keys. It's beachy, without being common and synthetic. I disagree with other reviewers who say that they don't get the floral notes. I think the gardenia is right up there in front with the coconut and palm. Despite the creamy, non sweet, floral mixture that is Coccobello - I don't think this is purely a woman's fragrance. It's so natural that it's definitely unisex. My only complaint is the price. People who spend $180 on perfume usually want a PERFUME. Not something that smells like natural essential oils. I love this stuff - but I just might have to stick with my Cantu hair lotion instead (which has much too much pineapple and smells exactly like a Pina colada).

I too, like another reviewer, bought my sample from Luckyscent. It is DIVINE. I keep catching whifs of it and can't stop sniffing. It is not anything like a 99cent store mens cologne, as another reviewer stated. That's just rudeness for the sake of being nasty on the internet, I feel sorry for people who think it's OK to act like that. It does have a bit of a masculine cologne-vibe, though I'm a woman and I love it, and wouldn't think twice about wearing it. It reminds me of a more unisex version of Hibiscus Palm by Aerin which I LOVE. The sandalwood in it is SPICY which I also LOVE - Sunny Side Up has my favorite spicy sandalwood note in it, and this is a slightly more aquatic unisex beachy version. I get nothing curry/food like here at all, aside from the coconut which somehow both smells fresh and green, not plasticky like many coconuts, and smells like a can of coconut milk at the same time. I immediately ordered a full bottle. So glad to finally sample.

A delightful, fun, green powdery coconut scent. Coccobello does not remind me of the beach boardwalk, and in fact it has nothing to do with gourmands. Instead, this perfume is dry and unsweetened, a kind of antidote to overly processed summer scents Not that it makes a difference to me, but Coccobello is a cross between natural and synthetic. I often think people describe a perfume in the negative when they make that observation, but here it’s done so well. On my skin I don’t smell fig pulp, which is not listed, but I do pick up the leaf. Dry down is woodier, as expected—and saltier, which was unexpected. At the end of the day, I am transported to a Mediterranean Sea port. I’ve always wondered about this perfume, so happy my luckyscent vial is in my possession. I’ve only worn Coccobello once, so I will need to experiment more but I’m right in between like and love. I’m tempted to buy a 15ml spray as I’d like to test Coccobello more liberally.

I really love the scent but I’ve realized the performance isn’t great. 30 min after spraying it’s only a bit stronger than a skin scent. I’m weeding out poor performers from my personal collection so unfortunately I won’t be keeping this one. Such a pity, the coconut here is so much more realistic and enjoyable than many others I’ve tried. I get zero body odor smell from this, lol, it’s straight coconut with a touch of gardenia and cedar. Very feminine leaning unisex, summery tropical. Must not work with certain chemistries, body odor has never been an issue for me and my sweat & chemistry pulls sweet and salty. I unfortunately live in a hot dry windy climate with intense sun, so 30 minutes outdoors and weak performing perfumes vanish without a trace. Still ranking this as a like, better performance would make it a love.

Woody, green, slightly floral and very unisex. Absolutely nothing dirty, body odouresque or reminiscent of onions(!) in this. On me at least, it is very clean. Salt notes can be tricky on my skin, overpowering other notes, but they've thankfully been given a light touch here. There is also nothing sunscreen-like going on despite the coconut and gardenia: the palm leaf tempers that, making it fresh and verdant and the coconut is like an actual coconut with notes of both the dry husk and the milky water. It does have a certain waxy facet (like that of Bronze Goddess) but I like that. The scent itself is just gorgeous, but I really wish it would project more. If it were more than just a light skin scent, it would be a winner and more than worthy of a full bottle.

This scent smells very different on me depending on whether or not I am fresh from the shower. When applied right after a shower, it is a lot more green - I smell salt, lime, something green and spicy like snapped raw celery + coriander + cilantro, and coconut. The scent gets creamier with coconut, sunscreen and salt in the drydown, but the green spicy / lime nuances remain. Similar to ELDO Fils du Riz et Agrumes, but less foody and musky, more clean. If I'm not fresh out of the shower when I apply, it smells like a sweeter mix of coconut and salt and sunscreen only, which is a little boring without the green. I only have a dabber sample. I wonder if a spray on clothing would get the green notes to come out. Like.

It is CRUCIAL to test this in the right weather!!! The first time I tried Coccobello was on a cold spring day and it felt metallic, artificial and the greenery and the coconut refused to come together in any way, both too stubborn to fade into the background. And it felt so dominant, so cloying, and I couldn't get it off. I was not impressed at all. Now, in summer, when days easily reach 30 degrees (Celsius) or more - it transforms into this beautiful island-y coconut scent, but without ever becoming boring, sunscreeny, or juvenile. No, it stays fresh, interesting, the greenery is there but in a supporting way, letting the young coconut shine. And it lasts quite long, too. Ah, I am in love, and life is good again.

I really like it as a lovely spring-summer daily scent for women & men. start with starong vegetabel smell and coconut juice odor which will be remarkable gradually. in the middle there is soft & weak white flower smell. Also sweet-salty confilict that give it marine-tropical sense. Finally I found some cedar wood in the base. I also like Virgin Island by creed but totally prefer coccobello.

Salty sea spray and coconut water. Very simple and natural smelling scent, but hasn't this been done before by dozens of brands trying recreate the tropical surf image? Anyway, I don't like aquatic notes, I mainly tried this for the coconut. It is quite pleasing, once the calone evaporates. It has a dry balmy sweetness, not at all oily or sickening like some lesser quality coconut scents can be. But for the price "Coccobello" is just too plain. If you like Creed "Virgin island Water" this is worth a try.

I'm usually not a fan of tropical/fruity scents, but I really like this. When it comes to coconut fragrance I usually expect coconut or coconut milk type of scent. This is a coconut TREE in a bottle. The cedar makes it special in my opinion, it's not cloying or overly sweet. It last quite well on my skin, it dries down to a woody, slightly coconuty scent. On my clothes the coconut scent last for days, it's subtle but you can catch a whiff of it every now and then.

This is an interesting fragrance. Its not close or smelled like creed virgin island water. The opening is more like green notes coming from the palm leaf. But after few minutes thats where the coconut arrives. Its not a strong coconut smell to it more like 3/4 of it. I also get that saltiness vibe to it too. It feels like smelling a coconut without opening it yet just by smelling the outside of the coconut this what it smells like. Great fragrance for summertime.

It opens with strong salty coconut and it stays for a while. After that it becomes somewhat metalish and green with the coconut withdrawing into the background. There is nothing complicated about this fragrance. It is not even question whether it is winter or summer i think... But i seriously doesn't understand how this could be an unisex scent. All i smell on this is a man! Way overpriced in my opinion, as i would personally not buy it for my boyfriend either.

@Malthus101 something’s wrong with your sample or way of testing because this has zero citrus smell to it (also no citrus notes). Maybe you can try again To my nose this is very pleasant coconut smell that smell nutty, not overly sweet and the whole composition has some kind of zen smell to it. Perfect everyday summer scent while running errands or vacation daylight scent. Effortless, simple but not cheap smell

This is a coconut scent for "grown-ups": fresh and green coconut (not like Yves Rocher). Instead of palm leaf I recognize a vetyver in the background. For me, there is not much salt in it. In total, a very "vacation" friendly. It reminds me of 2787 Hamaca. If you like that one, you will like Coccobello too. I find it unisex. I might get a full bottle some day.

very clean and green. Airy light, like a sea breeze. I get a cucumber note, mostly.. I guess that is the palm leaf. The coconut in this is v clean and alcoholic/synthetic – like suntan lotion or a cool glass of Malibu on the rocks. Its really growing on me.. but doesn't seem to last much longer than 2hrs on my skin but it does last well on clothes.

I know this will sound weird, but this smells exactly like Pho Bo, the Vietnamese soup. That is, a strong, freshly-cut spring onion smell. Along with some green herbs. There is maybe some coconut water in the background. It's fresh and it makes me hungry, and the smell is not unpleasant. But I don't want to smell like onions!

Minimalistic, naturalistic coconut smell. This is what i imagine coconut tree beside the beach and when you slash it, it gives off this smell. Nothing fake sweetness just a little bit, barely there saltiness to bring it alive. It is unisex but for me it is leaning toward the men's side. I could enjoy it on someones skin.

Smells like a fresh coconut and tropical plant leaves. I was really surprised how realistic this is. I'm a fan of coconut smells in general and this is the most realistic one I've smelled so far. The salt just gives it a slight beachy vibe. The vanilla is discrete. Easy to wear. Will eventually buy a bottle.

Got a sample from Heeley's site. I don't get any coconut honestly, it's just mostly green. Not bad, but not impressive either. EDIT: I wore it outside in the heat and its floral aspect became a lot more prominent. Quite nice actually. Might buy a bottle someday...

Decent unisex coconut, a bit denser than I expected, but not strong. I think the palm leaf accord is actually the most noticeable here, and then something woody comes out. At some point it vaguely resembled Ralph Lauren Hot, albeit not as sweet. Not bad!

Do you like coconut? A fresh coconut, not too sweet? It is a scent for you, perfect for summer. Fresh & natural, 100% unisex (again, it is not sweet), the sillage and longevity are moderate. It is not for the office, more for holidays, beach, etc... 7/10

Smells like a musky, husky mature coconut. Quite beautiful but simple. For the price, not for me. I think I can find a cheaper coconut frag to suit me. Smells like a tropical holiday scent. -
