Although Serail by Jan Barba and Chergui by Serge Lutens only share a couple of similar notes, they are so similar to each other it's uncanny. I have owned Chergui for quite a while, and as soon as I sprayed Serail on my arm, the similarities in scent profile became immediately apparent. Chergui is a modern masterpiece of this century, whereas Serail has upped the ante by using predominantly natural & organic ingredients. So, if Chergui is 10/10, therefore by default, Serail must be 11/10!!! Yep, it's that good.

A slightly spicy, vintage-feeling floral over a warm, ambery, woody, tonka base. This actual reminds me quite a bit of a really vintage bottle of Houbigant's Parfum Ideal, not the more recent versions from the 80s and beyond, but the one that smells like a proto-spiced aromatic floral with hints of clove, jasmine, ylang, and rose. The flowers and spice notes in this whisper vs shout. This is absolutely lovely.

Beautiful fragrance, you can tell its great quality. It was almost full bottle worthy for me but it comes off quite green & minty on my skin. My skin tends to bring out some strange notes in fragrances though, so don’t let that deter you. Not similar to Chergui, in my opinion.
