Attaupe

The vintage ingredients in this have an interesting effect on people. The first day I wore this, the cashier at a diner near my house said she liked what I was wearing and asked what it was, so I told her, and her response was, "I know that smell, but I couldn't put my finger on it." Although it's more or less impossible that she'd ever smelled this because it's a limited, indie, exclusive, fancypants special club kind of thing, that's the impression I got as well when I first smelled it-- It's familiar. Maybe it made her remember something from the past or just struck a general chord with her, but that's definitely the impression you get when you smell it. Familiar. And yeah, it smells great all around, and it's well-blended and well-thought-out, and it absolutely blasts off of your skin (the attar quality comment below is accurate). And as far as the scent profile, it smells exactly like the description, so I won't repeat any of that. But more than anything, it really does create the impression of a familiar memory in black and white. And it does that so well that it's pretty extraordinary. A window to the past, and an instant pillar of my collection. A rare 10/10.

When you walk into a room and moments later, someone asks, “Who smells good?”, and everyone in proximity is nodding, you try not to draw attention to yourself but alas, it’s too late. Someone busts you with “It’s you!” Outed by John’s intoxicating tobacco/lavender syrup. The power and persistence of perfume, folks. Don’t sleep on anything this man produces because it will change your mood, your perspective, and your appreciation of beautiful, rare things.

This is indeed an intoxicating scent... Probably too intoxicating for me. I love it, though. It is an amazing combination -- tobacco, lavender and *something* white floral. For me, it kinda comes across as magnolia, and I'm likely wrong. I'm from Melbourne, Australia, and the magnolias we have here are these GIANT white, wine cup magnolias. Seriously, the flowers are an exact replica of wine glasses. When they start 'turning', the leaves turn this mildew-sepia colour, drop, and COMPLETELY fragrance a room. One magnolia is probably too much for a room -- it's INSANE how powerful and how wide the scent spreads. Anyway, Attaupe reminds me a little of those Port Melbourne Council Town Hall magnolias, towards the end of winter. Booming, white floral, with slight traces of decomposition and cloying candy sweetness. I really like this scent, but I can't pull it off. It's beautiful.

Attaupe by January Scent Project A beautiful fragrance which has beast mode and sillage. The juice is thick and sticky, almost attar quality. Sniffing of the atomizer, I was sad that why it's only 30ml but I guess after applying 2 sprays 10 hours ago and still going strong, I guess it's more than enough to last awhile. The smell itself is so evocative that you crave for more. #lavender and #tobacco does wonders and this is pure bliss right here. Black locust and pine is prominent throughout along with baimudan tea, which works as energy provider and this fragrance is all about energy ❤️ Totally in love 😍 PS: only 50 bottles were made ☺️

Black tea, patchouli, deer musk, blackcurrant candy, chamomille, lightly camphoraceous, clove and anise. Very interesting scent with lots of medicinal facets. Feels like something you'd want to meditate in, if that's your thing. This makes me want to sample a lot more from this house!
