L'Eau de Taipi

Just testing this in sample spray format - it's officially the coconut-frangipani holiday scent of my dreams. Lactonic, floral-edible, just barely sweet, very low key. Much airier than (say) EL Bronze Goddess or Guerlain Terracotta, more casual than Carnal Flower. Sillage moderate, staying power reasonable given the concentration and style. Somewhat tragic that it's only available in a 300ml laundry-spray format that definitely won't make it through hand-luggage security checks... Edit: Wearing this regularly over the last few weeks, it really is gorgeous if extremely subtle on my skin, and its natural feel, transparency and hint of green-banana notes make it much more modern than conventional heavy-hitter coconut and/or suntan-lotion fragrances like Soleil Blanc, Beach Walk etc., yet also prettier than straight coconut scents (Heeley's Cocobellio). Sprayed lavishly on forearms it lasts most of the day, albeit with very limited sillage.

Back revisiting favourites - this is still my perfect 'tropical' summer fragrance, quirky banana-leaf-note and all. Lactonic or not, it has a milky texture. A clever yet playful, lighthearted scent.

Exotic Water by Jardins d’Ecrivains is a musky, clean scent that feels effortlessly fresh and refined. In my opinion a good coconut fragrance should be well-layered with other notes in its structure, preferably with noble rounded or just matching ingredients. This is Not it. The generic coconut+tiare combination is not in its best variation here. I also disagree with the lactonic category in the pyramid- you can`t call every tropical coconut note lactonic- they are not synonyms. Starting as a potentially good and realistic coconut solid it then travels into some sort of a hair spray smell and distant aftershave ending up as a clumsy cheap scent (especially after a while). There is tiare and musk on the background, don`t know what bergamot is mentioned here. I`ve definitely seen better (for cheaper) 3/10.
