This is my revised review for Jay Z Gold using my new review style Jay Z Gold is the first celebrity fragrance that I purchased (not in the Michael Jordan wheelhouse) mainly because of the deal I got for it. It was either $10USD for a 1oz/30ml or $18USD for the 1oz/30ml with the shower gel and aftershave as a gift set holdover from Father's Day. So, what did you think I got? I purchased the gift set and it was actually marked down another half on top of the sticker. I smelt it first earlier that day and it smelt pretty good so I felt confident in my purchase. My three thoughts when smelling this scent is blueberry muffin, sweet, and clean. Jay Z Gold opens with a blueberry note which makes it smell like fresh blueberry muffins or even strawberries to some. With the three heavy notes to me being blueberry, violet and amber-vanilla, this is a VERY sweet smelling. Finally, this scent has a fruity clean smell to it similar to Axe Signature’s Night. That said, it is a different fragrance than the typical drug store or celebrity fragrance. It is unique different with moderate to long lasting length of scent but with soft to moderate sillage. As for length as I mentioned it lasts over nine hours. I had several days in the late summer/early fall time of year and I found it lasted over 12 hours, if even it was just the amber-vanilla basenote that would hold on for quite a while. Its sillage is pretty strong as the blueberry heavy open fades into the violet mid, it gives about 4/5 hours as a moderate sillage before becoming a skin scent. I find it is one of those skeleton scents that can work, any-time, any season and any occasion. My rating for this cologne is 9.5/10 as there is no real knock on it. At first I thought that the $30USD price-tag for 1oz/30ml in the brick and mortars is a little steep but the performance and unique smell gives it that edge that make it worth it. I honestly LOVE THIS SCENT.

Jay Z Gold is a very cool, sweet and subtle cologne. This particular fragrance ranks in my top 5 and #5 because it is an aromatic, spicy scent for men composed by perfumer ilias ermenidis. This scent opens with a burst of fresh citrus before giving way to exotic spices of cardamom, ginger and pink pepper. The top notes of grapefruit, orange and lavender. Next, the middle notes of ginger, cardamom, violet leaf, pink pepper, cypress. Lastly, the base notes of this fragrance are vetiver, amber, teakwood, and vanilla. So pros and cons on Jay Z Gold: Pros - I absolutely love the cool and sweet smell this fragrance gives off. On me a lot of people get more of the vanilla vibe from it. Since my body words well with sweeter smelling scents this one has easily hit my top five and a lot people enjoy it. Very unique and different to his earlier release known Rocawear Evolution. Overall a job well done compared to other celebrity colognes. Definitely recommend people to try this one out. Cons - The Longevity and Sillage both rank a moderate. The price going for this cologne is bad if you're going to get it at Macy's. You are going to pay roughly 72.00 USD there compared to what you would online which is roughly 47.00 USD. For that you're better off buying something like 1 Million online which cost 10 USD less online than what Gold cost at Macy's and it lasts two times longer than Gold. To finish off this review if you are looking for a signature scent then I would have to recommend you Jay Z Gold. I have gotten a couple of compliments on it. Not as much, but still occasionally I will get someone who asks me what it is. I don't use this as my signature scent, but for those who were thinking about considering it I have to say go for it.

This is REALLY good!!! I love the note combination in this scent! Blueberry vanilla. I get more blueberry and violet than anything, followed by vanilla and pink pepper/cardamom. The texture starts out very cool and fizzy, but quickly evolves to be similar to a blueberry La Nuit de L'Homme flanker with heavy pink pepper and cardamom, or even a spicy blueberry Bleu De Chanel. The strong pink pepper from the opening fades to give way to the lasting cardamom, and that's what's responsible for the texture change. Basically, imagine a freshly baked blueberry muffin where you accidently poured pepper into the batter. That's what this is, and that's definitely not a bad thing. Projection is perfect, though it sits a little close to skin after 3 hours. Longevity is moderate, 5-6 hours noticeably, but it lasts 8-9 hours total under the neck of my shirt. I've gotten TONS of compliments on this! I wish the top notes lasted a tiny bit longer, but so far, all the hype is correct. This is REALLY nice! For the price, buy it, and carry an atomizer if you have to. Also, the bottle is pretty nice as well. It has a nice heavy cap with a matte white powdercoated bottle. This is probably worth a lot more than it sells for, in terms of value. It's certainly every bit as nice as Bleu De Chanel in terms of scent, protection, and longevity, and yet it sells for 1/4 the price. I've worn more of this (and given away more samples) than anything else in my collection. This is in my Top 10, and often in my Top 5. Highly recommended!

I originally purchased this scent and really liked it but then I got frags for Christmas and kind of forgot about this scent until about a week ago I was on an elevator with a guy that smelled really good so I complimented him and asked him what he was wearing and sure enough it was Jay Z Gold. Jay Z gold opens up with a very fresh blast of blueberry,violet,grapefruit and ginger making this very fresh,slightly powdery and sweet. This stays pretty linear but this retains that smell but then gets a little more spicy and woody but still remains fresh and then in the drydown that vanilla gives it a sensual edge. I’d also describe this scent as a sexy,alluring smell as I have been complimented a few times but this was 1 of the very few that someone else described as sexy. Performance on this is above average as it lasts 5-8 hours and has soft projection but you will have a nice scent bubble and also leave a nice scent trail as you pass by people. Overall rating — 8 out of 10 ! Very unique smell that gets compliments and for a cheapie this performs pretty well. Sidenote— I love the blueberry and vanilla combo in this :D

I must admit, I do like trying celeb fragrances, and with this one fellas, you WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!! I just got GOLD JAY Z, it is a fruity opening but mixed with an herbal, spiciness which the three together balances nicely. GOLD JAY Z is very masculine but not overtly so, noticeable, but refined and classy; perfect to wear into the office. GOLD JAY Z sillage, wears close to the skin to moderate, a good balance of refinement and notice ability but won't scare others away. I feel GOLD JAY Z is a year round scent, and can be worn for ALL OCCASIONS; from office, to date, to dinner or for casual wear on the weekends...it fits in anywhere; and any age group can wear it as well. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ADDING THIS TO YOUR FRAGRANCE WOREDROBE!!!

This is one of the most versatile fragrances in my collection.. I have had this bottle for about a year and a half and I do wear this a lot.. My wife asks me what I’m wearing everytime I wear this.. Do much in fact, that it has become a joke like I’m almost waiting for her to ask.. My favorite time to wear this is on a rainy day.. Which is why I chose to wear and review this one.. The vanilla and blueberry are blended nicely with the violet leaf in the background..longevity and projection are average.. Great bottle to start off with.. Rating 8.7/10

Blind bought this off of what others had said on the review sites...result-> not disappointed at all! It's nice. The blueberry scent appears and disappears very quickly within the first hour. The base notes is what you're left with from the 45 min mark and its a nice, not-too-sweet vanilla/amber/wood combo. It's not a unique scent so I don't think it's worth a heavy price tag, however, I bought a 1 oz'er at a great price and I am very very happy to wear it in my fall/winter/spring/summer night casual rotation.

the sad thing is that this fragrance smells exactly like 1 million by paco rabbanne last longer and projects better... my advice is put your subjective feelings aside and buy this... it makes no sense to pay for 1 million when jay z gold is pretty much the same scent but better for cheaper..

It's a nice fragrance that everyone can wear and enjoy, a mass appealling scent. In my skin it's project well 2-3 hour and stay within 10 hour+. Great release by JayZ, worth to try and of course solid love for me. Thanks Jeremy Frag.. lol

From an overall value standpoint, this may be the best purchase I have made. This smells great, lasts a good amount of time with good projection and is not very expensive at all. I would rate this a great value buy. Check it out.

For anyone looking for a replacement for this scent check out Dumont White !!!! Very similar scent profile and I actually think Dumont white is an improvement in all areas !!!

wow, I'm surprised. I tested it at Macy's this morning at 10:30 am. 2 sprays on my hand and 2 sprays on my wrist. It's 11:48 pm now and I can still smell it.

Alright, fans of this... who knows which of the "impression" scents is a good replacement for this? Are "Gilded" or "Golden Hour" any good?

Throw in the towel from hip hop this line of work seems to fit you in my opinion better good job on this one.

I realized recently that I have never listened consciously to any Jay-Z song; shocking considering his social influence over the years. So during work one day, I decided to listen to his entire discography. I listened, and then listened again.. then listened a few more times. The man is a poet, and from what I’ve heard, a financial genius. It’s no surprise to me that with the reach that he has, he steps into the world of fragrance with an offering that appeals to all, but is not void of nuance. ‘Gold’ opens up with a rather tart, bitter blueberry note. It’s an odd opening I will say, mixing the bitter and the sweet. It doesn’t pull you in, but rather it plainly announces itself. The violet becomes clear rather quickly, giving the fragrance an elegance. The transition of bitter dried fruits to exquisite florals might be a commentary on his own personal trajectory; the classic story of coming from very little, and achieving greatness. All the while, a very plain vanilla lingers, giving the fragrance a pleasant versatility. This really is the every man’s fragrance. It reminds me of the potential we all have within us. If this smell is greatness, then greatness is versatile, welcome to all, and achievable by any who may seek it. The etchings engraved on the bottle cap prove my point. The fragrance settles into an interesting balance of Tart Berries, with some balmy vanilla and soft spices from the pink pepper. Slightly reminiscent of a blueberry pie, with a tiny bit of warm spice. It’s proud, and softly spoken. Performance is average. 5-6 hours on skin, solid 1st hour of projection. In total, it’s a very basic, easily wearable fragrance. Will it blow you away? Probably not. But the simpler things in life have just as much validity as the more complex. There is a time and place for everything. I’m happy to have added this fragrance to my collection, and to have added Jay-Z’s music to my playlist as well. 7/10

Scent - Reminds me of Eros. Smells good. I pick up strong citrus, blueberry & violet in the opening with a warm vanilla backdrop. Dries down to a soft, sparkly “blueberry muffin” type of a smell with an aquatic type of feel. I know blueberry muffin & aquatic don’t sound too appealing together but trust me it’s very good! Performance -When you smell the opening & even off the atomizer you get the feeling this will be a strong performer. However, after the first hour or so it dies down quite a bit and just remains a small scent bubble around you. You’ll get around 5-7 hours performance. Lasts a lot longer on clothes so I’d suggest spraying on clothes rather than skin. It’s a great going out/date fragrance for the younger crowd. Won’t last you all day, but it’ll get you through a night out with friends or with your date. Compliment factor -Hasn’t gotten me any compliments yet but then again people rarely compliment me on anything I wear & I own several compliment monsters. So results depends on the person wearing it as with anything. Imo, this is definitely a crowd pleaser just based off of my opinion. This is my casual/going out on the weekends fragrance. Affordability. -$30 for a 100ml. Can’t go wrong there. This is as a good as it gets at that price. Id have probably still purchased it if it was $50. Good quality juice for a good price. I’ll definitely be repurchasing this one. Conclusion -Like many others, I was hesitant because I don’t like buying fragrance that has a celebrities name attached to it, especially one with the mans name in huge letters! But I heard good things about it so I took the plunge. Glad I did.

It's taken me a while to come around to reviewing this fragrance and it's largely due to the fact I'm not that keen on Jay Z himself. This era and ethos of hiphop largely passed me by and despite respecting the fact he is a global star, and artists I do like, seem to respect him but I simply don't like his music. If I had to list greatest rappers of all time he definitely wouldn't figure, in fact he wouldn't even figure in top rappers from Brooklyn. Anyway...That aside I did try this fragrance not long after it's release and I initially liked it. I wore it properly the otherday and I'm not surprised to say I still really like it. The opening reminds of some kind of sweets from my youth and it changes from a sweetened orange/mandarin vibe, sharp grapefruit and that unmistakable blueberry note which without doubt makes this stuff memorable. It's kinda like when you get six different flavours of skittles in your mouth at the same time. The base is powdery so I can accept there's violet leaf present (although I don't smell it directly) it's more of a white musk, vanilla and maybe a bit of cardamom? It's pretty elegant but has a sports vibe to it and comes off like a summery, antiperspirant. That is in no way belittling Gold because I think it's one of the better sweet, fruity fragrances on the market. The performance however is not good, it doesn't project at all and is gone within a matter of an hour or two, even so I still think it's worthy of merit and would even go as far as to say I'd add it to my wardrobe if I saw it for a dramatically reduced price.

Got this today so i cant go in depth about it to much but i felt compelled to give my initial thoughts right away. This stuff is 10x better than what i was expecting. I left the house today to hunt dhi at the mall but i always go in through Ross to see if they had anything good. There was one 1oz JayZ gold among the usual grey flannel, Nautica Voyage, curve etc. Not to impressed i pushed on to Belk and tested the few i dont own already including the JZG (They didnt have DHI of course) So I then went to sephora and picked up Invictus but i could not stop thinking about that JZG. After my purchase i high tailed it back to Ross and purchased JZG as well after smelling it first.Long story short this was my 6th purchase this week along with Invictus, Scent of peace for him,Declaration , Declaration Dun Soir, Declaration leau and Carven homme all of which smell excellent but i cant stop thinking about this one, and its probably because my expectations werent high at all .Still not anything ground breaking but really good stuff. Scent= 10 so smooth you think its niche Versatility= 10 anytime, season, reason or place. Projection= 5 became a skin scent rather quickly Longevity= 5 drove home ate my cheese steak then took a 3 hr nap and it was totally undetectable when i got up. Every scent was not meant to beast they all have their place. This will be my fall and winter close quarters killa, Will be purchasing a big bottle soon

Where are the basenotes? On me this is prominent violet, noticeable vanilla, and semi noticeable blueberry with a smattering of spicy notes thrown in for good measure. All in all a fairly blah if not unpleasant scent. Vanilla is the only basenote I can discern. Tonight was my first wearing of Jay Z Gold. I have owned this for over a year, but until a few hours ago it was still in its cellophane. I guess I felt it was time to justify its purchase. Projection was good for the first two hours. My date told me I smelled great and I'm thinking I've worn much better fragrances in your presence before without a mention. The hostess who sat us at our late supper also told me I smelled nice. What was going on here? What seems like a throwaway fragrance is charming women left and right. Do I know anything about fragrances whatsoever? Gold's performance certainly had me second guessing myself. I'm still, as I type this, trying to figure out what the hell is so good about it. I will, however, remember for next time that Gold is a definite crowd pleaser. Feeling very glad that I finally broke this out tonight. Gonna have to buy it's Intense flanker, I suppose. What other choice does a perfume lover have?

Fruity, spicy, aromatic. So good but so common. One of the those smells you could swear you have smelled a million time. It smells like a fragrance shop where everybody is testing fragrances & the shop has a distinctive fragrant smell but you can't really tell what it smells like. The spiciness of cardamom/pink pepper dominate the opening along with floral lavender. As it dries down, a fruity accord is revealed; smooth vanilla mixed of a juicy blackberry. Fruity and sweet but far from cloying, thanks to the spices and beautiful utilization of vanilla. Then a shy violet appears, given an ozonic/aquatic vibe to the scent without changing it much. And finally, the lavender gives it that familiar floral freshness. The aromatic spicy-fruity smell at the dry down remains to Gold's end of line. Decent release & an easy wear. A crowd pleaser for sure. A spring/day kind of fragrance but feels that it can be worn any other time. Big "Like"!

This is now available at Macy's so if you're curious to sample it, check online to see if your local department store is caring it. I just asked the sales representative to open up a box to make a tester and she kindly obliged. Now I don't want to sound too critical but this fragrance is just nice. It's very light with a pleasant smell of fruit and really light wood (teak) and vanilla. It's almost like a body spray - I can't see this lasting more than 3-4hrs. While its nice enough, I was hoping for something with a greater identity or character. This isn't a cologne in my opinion. It's more just a pleasant smell. Maybe others will find it more interesting but I'm underwhelmed. The sales go to a good cause so if you find it enjoyable, as I know some will, then know your money will go to a good place. Most detectable notes: grapefruit, blueberry, vanilla, cardamom, teak

This fragrance is one the best fall, winter fragrance that I have. I say this because I live in Miami. Our summers get really hot and humid. So I tend to go with fresh, out the shower during the summer ex. Versace pour homme, L'homme or L'homme libre YSL, or Lacoste Blanc. But when fall or winter comes around better believe JYZG is coming out to play. But I will say that you can pull this off if you're in an office environment. I know, I know what most people think because it is a celebrity cologne it cant be that good. Well my friends, you'd be wrong. This is a great fresh, sweet, vanilla, yet masculine scent. For me, it last a good 4 hours, sillage a good amount. You don't want people drowning in your fragrance in the office. I do get notice when I wear this one. Really recommend this one.

Bought this for a boyfriend the year it was released. I absolutely loved it on him, id spray it on my pillows & sometimes on myself before bed. I always felt the need to snuggle this fragrance. It's very soft & comforting with the notes of vetiver, vanilla & Amber but has a touch of sweetness from the florals b/c of the violet & lovely lavender & then you have the pink pepper, ginger & semi tart blueberry giving this a little edge. It's been blend to perfection. A very simple, versital, non offensive, comforting, lovely Masculine fragrance. I think us ladies enjoy it more on our men, than they enjoy it on themselves possibly lol even though my BF at the time also liked it a lot and wanted another bottle. Was a great buy, and would buy it again if I ever came across it for a great price.

The cologne itself is wonderful without smelling too synthetic or cheap (like a lot of other celebrity colognes do, in my opinion). Longevity: It has great longevity, although I use an extra spray [or two] more of this cologne than I do with others because it is quite subtle. I would say that I can still smell it's remnants on me at the end of a work day, which is pretty good. Packaging: the box itself is simple enough, but the bottle is pretty nice. Looks good amongst other colognes in the cabinet." A lot of users describe the scent as very grapefruity, but I disagree. I think it's a very smooth and cool scent that has some variation throughout the day, but a very solid product.

Blind Buy because of my current BLUEBERRY obsession. First blast felt VERY "T.J. Maxx $24.99'er" . It did mellow- I think I get some "blueberry" and this is nice with the expected synthetic notes. HOWEVER: I believe this is discontinued because the price seems to be shooting up (?). Also, I was getting my "blueberry fix" from Alexandria's wonderful Emerald Street (a close clone of Bond No. 9 Bleeker Street). So this has been mellowing out for a little while now and it is nice -- a good "cheapie" that ain't cheap no more. FANS of this will LOVE Emerald Street !! Happy with my blind buy but a little 1 oz. bottle set me back $29.99 plus so... looks like Emerald Street will continue to be my Blueberry/ freshie go-to.

This smells very yummy. It smells like a more masculine version of the fluffy gourmand vanilla-fruity scents I love. Funny, my husband wore this to the movies after not touching it for awhile. I didn't know he had it on so I kept wondering "who smells so good?" I thought it could have been the man in front of us or the lady behind us. It's a sweet, deep vanilla, with a nip of woods to announce its masculinity. I see blueberry here, but it really did smell of chocolate chip muffins for awhile. I don't see it as a light summer scent at all. Too sweet and gourmand. It has some woody and fresh notes mixed in but don't wear this unless you want to smell delicious;)

Celeb fragrance... But it's good. I don't know why there is such a hang up on whether a fragrance has a celeb name attached to it when a major perfumer created the scent. I love the opening. A blast of blueberry that quickly turns into a ginger, spicey and woody scent. It's the scent is youthful and casual but any age can wear it. It's a nice summer frag somewhat sweet but not over the top. Jeans or shorts, cook out or bar the scent will get you noticed as women really seem to enjoy the scent. A no brainer as its inexpensive. Grab a body wash and layer it. Very pleasing.

Gold was a blind buy for me and it's a pretty good offering from Jay Z's house. Didn't get as much blueberry smell or sweetness as I had hoped. More of a transparent and airy fresh/spicy/woody. Somewhat unique smelling.(especially for a celeb release) But the drydown bores me with just a generic slightly sweet, cardamom and pink pepper smell that has been done to death with a hint of violet thing going on. Truth be told I like Evolution and 9IX a little better personally. Longevity is good on my skin. Nice frag, but only a "meh" for me sadly.

As expected gold is a nice smooth fragrance I haven't bought it yet but I will I smelled a sample of this today at carsons and it's nice as another reviewer said it's a year round casual scent it has a little fruity muskiness vibe to it it's a nice manly scent it's definitely worth checking out trust me if you can't find it in a store near you and thinking about blind buying I say go for it you won't be disappointed my girl and her buddies approve that this is a nice scent for a guy I like womens opinions when it comes to fragrances

This scent seems to take a beating on this website and somehow it was not over hyped upon release seeing as how it is a rapper's name brand. I really like it, the blueberry note gives it a not-too-fruity aroma along with a not too sweet vibe. I can easily see this as being able to cover both casual and more formal events. It doesn't radiate far from the body and the lifespan is okay, of course your body chemistry may have a different outcome. I also believe that this scent is easily wearable every season and both night and day.

I think this is nice. I'm surprised to see the big dislike bar. Could be a "celebrity fragrance" thing. Could be I have crappy taste. Who knows? Anyways, Jay Z Gold is rather fresh/ozonic on me but with some warm cardamom and myrrh. I don't get a strong vanilla presence, though there is a certain sweetness to this fragrance. As with a lot of male fragrances it vaguely reminds me of a bunch of other stuff, but it is likable with discernible notes and not just a general "clean laundry", "shower gel" or "man musk" scent.

Just bought this. First impression: This is very similar to Versace Eros which I already own and have grown to dislike a little due to its relentless sweetness (mainly vanilla), and beastly longevity. This I like more as its more fresh and less gourmand than Eros. So far it's a good, casual, versitale, scent but I wouldn't go as far as claiming it's a "niche" like scent as its pretty designer and mainstream smelling....IMO anyways.

My second post on Jay z gold their is a new one out called gold extreme it smells great and comes in a big gold bottle it's basically the same as this one except it's tweaked with a few added notes and it seems to last longer than the original but don't get me wrong the performance of the original is also good as well

I think this smells good :) definitely a winter smell. This will be my "bed time" cologne when it's colder out. It doesn't last long and isn't great in terms of projection, but it's perfect for sitting at the house all day in, or an hour or two before you sleep.

People hate on this cuz its jayz. A rapper. But calvin Klein puts out horrible fragrances. And ppl flock to it. I dunno y. Cuz hes not a rapper cuz it sure ain because it smells good. 80% of his fragrance are not worth the hype. This is better!!

I was surprised about this one. This fragrance is very good. Plenty of compliments and the lady at the counter was very generous with samples. Full bottle worthy!

It's not bad, but its really generic. Reminds me of Burberry Rhythm. not gonna buy it. longevity is good though

I mean, It's a good cheapie to have in your collection. It has a nice, soft smell, not too pungent. It's a quick grab for running an errand or going to the gym, nothing more. There's something about it that reminds me of the old school Clinique Happy perfume. Anyways, It's lacking in the projection/longevity department and only last about 1 hour max on my skin. Bummer. Scent is a 6.5/10.

I was expecting a rip off of one million as lets face it this is marketed towards kids and 20 year olds who don't know any better so Jigga could totally get away with it. It could be worse like Axe "gold temptation" which is the most generic garbage on the market trying to rip off that cologne everyone had but can't put a finger on it. All this is, is a rip off of David Beckham signature the light purple bottle with the metal label on it. That or somewhat similar to CK Euphoria for men. You can probably get both for the price of this. Jay Z doesn't need any more of your money. don't buy it. Go to flea markets and get the signature or the euphroia at a shop.

I bought this because it was described as sweet and grapefruity and rather feminine. Sadly on my skin it smells like totally masculine aftershave. No sweetness to it at all. All that comes out is Cardamom and Woods with a bit of aqua feel like Davidoff Cool Water! I'm actually quite disappointed. I will have to give it away. Will be for my dad then.

Generic Garbage. However there's a silver lining. If you have essential oils or blends and another bottle, you can make a half decent cologne. I used clementine organic essential oil and a saje blend. It actually smells like something I'd pay for.

Jay Z is whack! Jay Z, PDiddy, Pharrell, the name don't matter. They are all the same. Whack! Can't do music, don't even call it Hip Hop, can't do fragrence. Grape flavored purple cabbage juice!! Y'all are the reason. "Hip Hop is dead." ~ Nas.
