JD Singularity

I ordered this at the same time I ordered Mimosa Mixte. Already have Duality and Vanilla Farfuelle (forgive my spelling). I think this one is my favorite so far. Unabashedly feminine and floral, it almost immediately called Guerlain's Champs Elysee to mind because of the lilac. Shortly after application, the orange blossom comes shining through, not taking the lead, but there and brightening things up a bit. I sometimes struggle with orange blossom as a note on it's own, but here it is tempered by jasmine, which is how I enjoy it best. There are other perfumes, especially older ones, that are familiar to this "mixed bouquet" type of floral, but I am very fond of this one. For one thing, it has such impressive longevity even from a couple of spritzes, which so few fragrances achieve these days due to restrictions. I'm not sure how far Jeffrey strays from IFRA regs given that it's an American brand, in contrast to Manny Cross, who thumbs his nose at any restrictions when it comes to creating his art, but there is definitely something here that makes the performance exceptional in comparison to many a European brand, niche or otherwise. I truly enjoy supporting this man and his company. His care and concern for his customers is obvious, he samples generously, and it's clear that this is more than just a business to him. There is a passion behind it. The fact that he offers niche quality at ridiculously affordable prices is just one more reason. There are several others I am looking to try and will probably blind buy. Experiencing Dame Perfumery, especially the JD line, should be a must for any perfumista. Whether you love them or hate them boils down to personal choice, but I don't think many will find fault with the quality considering the price.

I have an older bottle with all yellow text band around the bottle. I absolutely love it! I do think that the notes above aren't exactly what it was before; this might be a reformulation or redesign. Regardless, my bottle smells of jasmine, lily of the valley, with a sweet watery aspect akin to 90's fragrances. It almost smells like China Rain but of course much better. This reminds me of this hair treatment my family used to use throughout the 90's and 2000's called Sea Plasma. Aquatic floral without any metallic edge or overly synthetic materials. When I smell it, I smell the beach, the blue sky, the sand, and white linen/cotton. I don't know if this smells the same, I'll have to get a sample; by the way, the rollerballs are amazing. If this new version is anything like my old bottle, you will love it. My only gripe is that my mother wore similar fragrances throughout the 90's so it reminds me of her when I wear it. Not a bad thing, an ode to my mom, but she's definitely tried to steal it from me a couple times; that and my Fracas. A full bottle is only $38, $18 for the rollerball, and $8 for a 2ml sample. I think Jeffrey is an excellent perfumer and I'm still trying to unravel the mystery that is Juste Filthy. I keep thinking it's like Kouros but I have both and side by side they're completely different. Thank you Fragrantica for finally adding this to the datebase.

Hi Invaderlark...I'm thrilled you are loving your bottle of my new JD Singularity Woman [I do too]. I originally planned to introduce JD Singularity last year in 2020 but the perfume is such a happy, pretty and smiling perfume that it seemed best to hold off until this year 2021 and allow the world to somewhat head back to normal; and here indeed we are this fine May day. So ready to go last year, but I held off the launch until now and only allowed a handful of private customers to purchase a bottle by request during the waiting period - of which you were one [thank you]. A couple of quick notes....no change at all to the JD Singularity formula, not at all, still the glorious tight nine note formula, the prettiest perfume in the neighborhood. There is a subtle difference between the eau de parfum and perfume oil, but this is due to the form - not the formula. And yes, on first conception I had the bottle with a soft yellow wrap label, but while it sat on my workbench this past year I fell out of love with the yellow and went with the black band instead for the introduction. So you (and your mom) have in your possession a true first round collector's item, but you know my view, spray away, enjoy and love. As to your thoughts on JD Juste Filthy, that is a tale for another day. Best always, J.

Just a side note on my scents, all of my fragrance formulas are 100% IFRA regulation ingredient standard approved. Every single one. Fragrance longevity comes from many factors including the ingredients selected, the construction of the formula (how the ingredients fit together) and of course the final concentration level of oils. Each of these are elements I give a great deal of attention. Your personal experiences with recently launched European fragrances not lasting may possibly be driven by corporate overlord cost factors, but there is just as good of a chance that these latest launches are coming from focus-grouped young 20 year-olds whose tastes lean towards simple trace scents. This is not to say that you won't find young Perfumistas in this crowd, but generally they're going to like what they're raised on, and if they're raised on whispy scents there you have it. Initially I only get a pretty citrus, but I know to wait with Dame Perfumery, or JD as this one is labeled. I think the reason why people say this smells like Summer and happiness is because of the slight Coppertone note, is it called Calone? I don't know much of chemistry or perfumery. But it's not overly done where it would be odd to wear in an office or out to dinner. It's not hibiscus, coconut, or frangipani, yet it transports one to a resort vacation. I ordered a sample of this not knowing what to expect. If this scent was described to me, I wouldn't have sought it out, I'm not one for a happy Summer scent, yet I'm oddly addicted to this one! I have actual Hyacinth that bloom in the Spring, I do get that here, but the floral that I detect when I really try to figure out what they are is the orange blossom. I don't get any rose which is fine by me, I've over saturated my collection with roses. I'm very surprised some say this smells vintage. I don't get hardly any powder. This smells clean and modern.

Outside of Dame where can you get high quality fragrances in full bottles for $38??? Seriously, the price for these is shockingly low. (And my bottle came with a bunch of samples included without having to ask, fragrances and body lotions.) I don't blind buy, but I trust Dame, so much so that I just ordered a full bottle of this as soon as it was available. Duality is one of my favorite fragrances. If you liked that, you'll like this. Though they are distinctly different scents. This starts out with singing realistic hyacinth. Creamy, rich (but not at all overwhelming on the hot summer day I'm first wearing this). This is crystal, bright clear florals that are refreshing and hopeful in the heat (and probably a delight in the cold too). As it settles the flowers stay but some of the warm easy to wear wood/musk base that I've come to respect in Dame's creations appears. Very happy to have this.

This is such a lovely fragrance! When it opens, I get the hyacinth and lilac, which are two of the reasons I chose to sample Singularity. As it dries down, the various floral notes move in and out, so it changes just a little every so often. At about an hour or so, I smell a warm tropicality (like Miss.Tara notes, it's not "overly done"). The musk drifts up, tinged with floral notes, and it smells cozy but also clean. I was testing it while on a Zoom meeting, and it was so hard not to sniff my arm with people watching. It suggests the scene but doesn't give you all the details, so it's both versatile and compelling. The longevity is moderate on me (gone by about 5 hrs) and sillage is intimate to moderate. I ordered this hoping for something pretty as an office wear, for which it will be great. I rated it for spring and summer primarily, but I have a tropical soul so will wear it year-round.

Singularity is a very pretty purple floral. Very heavy w/ lilac and hyacinth up front. It smells like a really expensive French lilac and hyacinth dusting powder in the beginning. As the perfume goes along it becomes more about lily of the valley and jasmine. There is orange blossom here, but I get more lily of the valley and jasmine. Becomes a floral musk in the dry down. Singularity is green and fresh but not overly so. I struggle w/ those accords in perfume, but this is softly done. Has an old-fashioned feel while not being overpowering. Softly musky, purple, pink and white florals w/ a touch of greenery and a slight powder and soapiness. Dainty, and ultra-feminine. Very lovely. Perfect spring floral. Edit: 8/5/22 I purchased a bottle of this and am eagerly awaiting its arrival.

So glad to finally see this added to the Fragrantica database! I also have the yellow-banded labeled bottle that I bought after reading about Singularity from an article by Beth Carsten about the JD Musc Neutre. Singularity is a very happy, bright fragrance. I especially like the hyacinth and lilac notes. This one has moderate sillage for me, and hangs on for about 5-6 hours before it wanes to a skin scent. The florals are clean and fresh, with a nice hint of musk. Reminds me of daffodils, and bright yellow ducklings cavorting through fresh green grass in the sunlight. Very cheerful.

Singularity has a fresh dewy aspect with shimmering clean florals. Its the perfect clean floral scent for a hot summer. Its not opressive in the least as some florals can get heavy. Im really enjoying the sample. Full bottle worthy. Its feminine, and romantic. We need more of that. When I first tried it, my impression was a Caronesque floral but more precise in the delivery. Thats a supreme compliment, as houses struggle with a true floral fragrance.

This was sent as a free sample when my daughter purchased some perfumes. She gave it to me to try and said, "Hey Mom, doesn't this smell just like the beach?" She's right. I smell the sand, the sea, the air, and even the Coppertone. Just like a day at the beach. We both loved it and will be buying fbs.

The free sample I got of this kept it on my radar!! I just ordered it and can't wait to wear it this spring! It is gorgeous!

Spring floral sunscreen! Big fan of beachy scents, and Singularity is a flower-forward standout. I get the lilac / LotV / hyacinth upfront followed by a lot of orange flower before settling into super-soft sandalwood. Bought this in the fall, hadn't really worn it till late spring, and plan to spray away all summer. Pretty and nicely priced!

Being new(ish) to the fragrance world, dont put too much stock into what I say, but I still wanted to review Singularity. I just got my sample in the mail (thanks again JD!!) and was eager to sample it this morning. So this is more of a first impressions review. I dabbed some on my wrists and elbows and was hit with bright clean floral. I could smell the hyacinth and lilac, of which I have in my garden. It was lovely! Then, after about 5 minutes the orange blossom comes in and gave it a really summery, sunscreenish vibe. It was taking me back to 1980's era Coppertone, but not totally, just a strong suggestion. At this point my 20 year old DD comes in and could not stand the smell, as it was giving her a bad headache, so I washed it off. Now, 1.5 hours later, I am definitely smelling it again! But now I am at work and can enjoy it wafting up to my nose. I really think this is a nice summery scent. It really takes me back to the 80's! I don't get any musk or woodsy notes yet, but we will see as it wears through the day. It's pretty strong, so you don't need a lot. I would say, so far, it is a bright, summery floral that evokes beachy feelings in me. I like it, but am not sure I love it yet.

Quintessential summer scent in an affordable bottle. My first time sampling— I was one of the lucky people to score a free sample— and Singularity really reminds me of suntan lotion, specifically Coppertone. I’m not sure what’s in Coppertone, I would imagine coconut and jasmine? Anyway, this also reminds me of 1970s car cleaning supplies. I know that sounds weird, but that’s what comes to mind. This is synthetics done well. That observation shouldn’t scare anyone off, as always I recommend sampling first. My husband loves this scent, and I like it, though it’s not a big love. I do love the reasonable price of everything I’m seeing from this house.

I'd like to thank the perfumer for the free sample, very kind. From the notes, it sounded like I should love this. White florals, a little citrus, a little sandalwood, right up my alley. And after I put it on, I immediately was picking up some of the orange blossom and rose, and had high hopes for this. But after an hour, it settled into something very familiar: Coppertone. I was hoping to be transported to a tropical island, or at least to a lush flower garden, but this sweeps me away to a 1970's suburban swimming pool instead. This isn't in itself bad, but it isn't for me either.

I received a nice oil sample along with my order.. when I smelled it I said shwoo hello madame! Leans quite mature get an old school vibe, that’s what I love about JD’s blends though very raw & organic in essence. I passed it on to my boss who loves “old lady” smells. Lotsa florals definitely pick up the lilac and orange blossom, almost get a plasticy note first applied but as it’s dries that fades and get the beachy vibe; but stills smells like your aunt at the beach..IMO lol sorry; not a bad scent in the slightest just very grown up.

Singularity was kindly put in my order as a free sample. I could imagine Estee Lauder releasing this scent back in the day. Specific flowers aren't standing out to me in the blend but something about it screams American summer. It feels like a mom perfume but not in a bad way at all. Happy but also home-y. Big florals are not my typical style, as they tend to induce headaches and/or remind me of hairspray, so while this isn't maybe to my taste, I will say that it did not bother my senses. Good sillage and longevity.

Perhaps my sample was damaged by the heat during shipping, but the scent is so faint it's practically non-existent to me. I love florals as a rule, but this scent disappointed me.

Coppertone! In the best possible way. Original Coppertone. I think it's the orange blossom. Of course, Singularity has more development than suntan lotion, but that's what I immediately smelled upon first application to my wrists. This is a really pleasant summer scent, and it evokes memories of sun, sand, damp skin, salty air. I greatly prefer Duality, but I really like this.
