Fleurs d'Ombre/Rose

A more budget friendly version of Guerlain Idylle EDT. Powdery freesia rose. Suitable to ladies of all ages, young and old. Like what was written behind the box: casual, everyday wear. Don’t expect it to be like powerhouse like Flowerbomb. We need something to wear everyday and every occasion.

Just a little update to my original review. I haven't had a bottle of this for years (cost vs performance isn't great!) BUT, I just missed the beautiful scent so much! It last longer on clothing so just spray generously and you'll get 5 hours minimum before needing a re-spray. It's a touch shampooey but not enough to bother me, unlike many shampoo-like perfumes Smelling it again I'd say this is like taking the florals from (the current version of) Dior Forever & Ever... gently sweet, blossom like, fresh and watery Rose and Freesia - leaning more rose than Forever & Ever though - mixed with the fruits and musk of Lanvin Jeanne. I'm funny about rose and having looked for a cheaper alternative for many years, I'd say that it's pretty hard to find a combination of notes like this. I've only found fruity Rose scents that are too sharp or too sweet, too powdery, too dated, too woody, too citrusy, too vanillic or have the dreaded patchouli in! This is just so sooooo special. I just wish it lasted longer! It's just a very beautiful light and fruity rose scent that is sweet but not cloying and entirely missing by the typical wood or vanilla base that Rose scents often have, which is just perfection to my nose! If you want a more affordable perfume that has a similar kind of profile then Jennifer Lopez Love At First Glow has the same sort of peach note, a similar fresh pink rose, plus freesia and citrus. It's much more soapy and slightly less fruity, maybe a touch sweeter once settled but it's light and pretty. They're not identical but they're have some cross over in the dry down!

How is this Fleurs d'Ombre Rose and not Fruits d'Ombre Rose? This scent is all about fruit. The floral notes, including the rose, are very much subordinated by the fruit. Most prominently I get the tangerine, orange and blackcurrant. This fruity combination results in a slightly tangy orange note similar to what I get in Tocca's Stella and in the Prada Mandarin infusion. I prefer a crisper, cooler orange. Moreover, I think the blackcurrant is creating a cilantro-ish vibe on my skin. DD didn't smell that on me when I asked her but in my mind it's definitely there. This is not to say that I don't like this scent. I do think it is pretty if not something that I would go out of my way to acquire in the future. It's main flaw is that it is very faint and what scent I do manage to detect fades very quickly - unlike the other mini from this range that I purchased, the Ombre The Poudree which is a powerhouse that lasts all day on me. The manufacturer's site claims this scent was developed for Asian markets. Maybe that is why it is so light. Perhaps in a spray this performs better.

I love this perfume but I find it hard to describe. The closest I can get is spring roses and pink jelly babies! I guess it smells like sweet sugary fruit and fresh roses so it's a very modern rose scent. Far less powdery and old-woman-like than most rose based scents. It's probably an acquired tastes, but it's one of the small amount of perfumes that I can wear all day without getting a headache, and it's truly the only scent I've found to replace Les Belles De Ricci Liberty Fizz in my affections since it was discontinued, and I have honestly tried hundreds!

Initially I found this soft and pretty but on a hot day it was slightly nauseating, maybe it's the rose and peach combo that's a bit too sweet for me.

This smells like an expensive rose and black currant soap, fruity but not sweet. After testing this a few times, I pick up the musk a bit more, a very soft berry floral musk! Love this perfume, it's not screechy like many fresh floral perfumes can be. The only drawback is that it's extremely light, a skin scent almost as soon as you apply it. I do smell it on my shirt for maybe 2-3 hours. At least this can be found for a great price on ebay. Returned it due to non existent longevity unfortunately. Also have to mention, the bottle I had had little dark pink floaties inside, not a big deal with natural perfumes tho

Very watered down, light sweet rosey scent with underlying fruity tones. Generic to describe. Evaporates in minutes. Too light and unimpressionable.
