Fleurs d'Ombre/Thé Poudré

This is somewhere between a like and just OK for me. Jean Charles Brosseau is a house that is new to my corner of the world and I have been eyeing the gorgeous bottles of the Ombre line for months now. They are pretty much available only on line here so I knew I would have to blind buy. Now, I am familiar with the vintage Ombre Rose from my high school years back in the eighties. My sister was gifted it by someone visiting from the US and wore it as a signature scent for some time. I also recall the original Ombre Bleue from a trip to the States during that same period. Both were very unique scents, and the bottles of course are to die for. Some years ago I did smell the reformulation of the Ombre Rose sold now as L'Original and was not so impressed so I decided to try two mini-sized flankers - the Fleurs d'Ombre Rose, because I'm always up for a fruity floral and this one, because of the purported similarity to the Prada Iris which I love. So, yes, this does indeed smell like the Prada Iris, However, there is unfortunately a slightly sickly note here that I'm really trying to come to terms with because this scent wears exceptionally well and is much stronger (and more affordable) than the Prada. I can't say yet what is causing this note (although I suspect the mimosa) but I'm hoping that the coming cool weather will temper it so that I can wear this scent more comfortably.

A very calm, subtle, and balanced powdery scent. I don't notice significant changes while wearing it; it stays intimately close to the skin for several hours. It's very safe, clean, and comforting.

This was a blind buy. I own a mini of the original OR and love it. This one not so much. Poudree was recommended for "Powder Lovers" this smells cheap to me. It's not awful but I wont use the whole bottle anytime soon. Stick with the original way more powdery than this one. The Mimosa note comes through hard.

Mostly orris and mimosa scent - that almost buttery or creamy texture of quality iris and powdery facets of mimosa. I believe I can smell the tea dryness and heliotrope, which gives more nuances to powder, but this is far from dry (cosmetic) powder scent. It dries down to cedar and musk base with more floral facets (I would guess some jasmine or lily of the valley is in there also - something familiar and undeniably floral). For first three hours scent strongly resembles Infusion’d Iris by Prada in its late drydown. Stronger, of course, and leaning slightly less green and more floral. Still, as unisex as the Prada’s creation. Moderate projection and longevity. Restrained and elegant, and classically perfumey at its best.

It hugs me with it's warmness, and set me free with it's coolness in the same time. Almond vibes from heliotrope, little bit sweetness, so comforting.
