Cassandra Dark Blossom

Not sure I would call it dark, but definitely a blossom. When you just apply it, it starts fresh and fruity, but then the sweetness comes along, and it’s a beautiful balance between dewy and sweet – actually creates an impression of a fragrant, fresh flower, not unlike rose, with just a sprinkle of something spicy underneath. It’s a strong impression during the first couple of hours, despite there not being a single flower note in the pyramid. Then, the flower fades away and it’s mostly spicy-sweet. Dark Blossom has a great development for the summer: it’s fresh in the start when you have to go out in the heat and commute/walk to work, and then it’s warmer and spicier for when you stay inside the office with AC. The scent stays with me until the evening, but I always spray on my hair along with my skin, so it might be shorter-lived if you apply on skin only. Lovely, and indeed reminds of Black Opium, but very light and office-friendly.

This has strong Black Opium vibes to me, but with _much_ lighter, fruity fresh notes instead of narcotic white flowers. La Rive's dupe is dense in comparison and makes this seem like a warm weather version, a summer flanker, which I prefer. I'm not familiar with Black Opium's flankers or many similar scents that it might be more alike to, but it is of this type. Sillage and performance are light to moderate without being obtrusive. Questionable but functional bottle, tiny price. I bought without any votes on similarities, and while I did not expect, let alone want, another Black Opium type of scent, this is actually the version I like most and that has enabled me to enjoy this scent at all.

I thought this smelled a lot like Black Opium when I first bought it. But after I’ve had it for six months I think it has changed to smell more similar to Christian Diors Addict.

Close enough to fool others that you are wearing Black Opium. Less intense, less performance, but the price is ridiculously low

Sweet - safe blind buy, fairly weak. A handbag perfume.
