Imperial Poudré

This is such a hidden gem. If you love soft, airy and powdery perfumes then this is definitely for you. It’s not powdery in that sense that it smells like baby wipes or vintage lipstick, just fluffy and romantic! The stars here are the iris, heliotrope and musk followed by a smooth and airy vanilla, much like the vanilla in Dama bianca. It’s not cloying just very ethereal and sensual. If you happen to find it I would definitely give it a go. It’s a safe blind buy if you love this type of perfume, otherwise sample first.

I’ve had an idea that the worst notes I can possibly incounter in a perfume is ”baby wipes ”, ”Johnsons babypowder” and, the worst of them all, ”plastic doll head ”. Just the idea of it gives me the creeps! To me it’s worse than mould or fecal notes..( which I find interesting ) Recently I got a package of real Johnsons babypowder from someone, and surprisingly enough I actually enjoy the smell of it. It’s sweet, silky, soft and cosy. I.P is, I think, as close as you can get to the smell of Johnsons babypowder, in a good way, if you amp it up a bit, it is quite potent! VERY sweet, VERY powdery, but it also has a little Nag champa incensy vibe to it. It’s a vintage, oldschool kind of scent, and I quite like it. I sense vanilla and heliotrope, the purple flower with it’s dusty sweetness, it’s there, maybe a little tiny bit of the dreaded dollhead too, but it’s not ofputting.. A ”fruity gourmand” ??? Not to me. I don’t detect any fruit, or freshness whatsoever. It’s definitely not my favourite perfume, it smells a bit cheap, and lacks the depth of for example fine resins, natural earthiness or some animalic qualities that I value in a really good perfume. A bit syntetic too, but still enjoyable to me never the less.
