Ligno

As someone mentioned earlier, yeah...this is how the color Black is supposed to smell. Brilliant description @alternateu As i have 4 bottles of passion for Antaeus Chanel, Ligno is something almost identical, for me, like Antaeus on some ambroxan steroids, suptile ones though,leather, wood, patchouly, almost the strongest labdanum with musky, almost leathery ambergris and some extra fruit, even might be a clary sage bloom. Blissful blend of castoreum, labdanum and sensitive patchouly, amber, that is all present and calming. The smell of luxury screams time from time, in the meantime the dark swamp of castoreum leather marinated in finest Labdanum flowers and resins. That fruit might easily be the flower yet, but it lightens up the composition. I guess it's orris and ambroxan giving people that pffff or woow effect at a first sniff aside from castoreum, leathery lovers, that percieve this gem as an extreme clean barbershop with luxurious and expensive aftertaste...Tried the whole box, the whole collection, this and Ambra are must haves. projection might be intimate, compared to beasts and glues we are wearing today, but my nose can still catch it tomorrow afternoon. It's not screaming but it's bloody there and still asking. I have about 1300 bottles, decants, samples...and i quitted..year and 2 months without new scent. And then i smelled Ligno. The rest is history :) Amazing smell and quality. 10 of 10 and i rarely go so

I bought it only smelling the opening, thats how much i liked it. The opening is somehow boozy and earthy, all held together by a thick manly patchouli. The drydown gets a bit more woody and dark and is still amazing. All of it is aired out with some sort of citrusy note (im guessing the bergamot), it all goes together amazingly. Last a long time especially on clothes. It projects decently for a couple of hours and it tones down after a while. Definitively manly, signture worthy for the right person. I feel like someone who likes fragrances like Antaeus will love this, although this is lighter on the castoreum note. Not a blind buy though as its very polarizing, some might like it on them some not. But everyone can appriciate how good it is.

As evidenced by the low rating and the praise below, Ligno is a polarizing fragrance. This is the last sample from my Jeroboam discovery set, and I’m in the thumbs up camp. I can’t think of another patchouli dominant fragrance that remotely resembles Ligno. Underneath all the earthy, natural notes is an overall creaminess. Ligno has a thick, gooey texture due to the top shelf, quality ingredients, most notably the orris. Thankfully ambroxan— usually a nemesis—is expertly mixed and does not overpower the composition. A beautiful, delicious take on patchouli with an unusual list of supporting notes. And finally an extrait that behaves like an extrait. Apparently I saved the best for last.

It is such a beast! ANIMALIC SMELL and ambergis are very prominent. Patchouli and pine are very balanced around + a light sweet hint for buttery orris. I have never met this ANIMAL smell before, it seems in line with Miksado Jeroboam but a little more furry. It is not nasty it is mysterious, intriguing, and kinky! I like it. it is like a werewolf that is chasing you in a forest to sexually assault you - it could smell like this, yes LOL

This is now my most complimented Fragrance this Fall and winter. After 10-12 hours still I smell it. Every person I met in the hallway always said. You smell good..what is it?! One more thing..try to layer it with BDK Gris Charnel Extrait just 1 -2 sprays if you don't like the power of Patchouli, BDK will help to give a smooth scent.

Unique Unique pine and patchouli Barely reminescent of a barber-vibe fragrance. Masculine patchouli and pine with unique muskiness 8/10 Not blind buy safe Tryied on my dog On me It fells more Ambergris-ish. Not ambergris like br540. More musky but not animalic.

If you love patchouli I could easily say it’s a safe blind buy I love it my first from jeraboam and surly not the last fragrance The power on this one is insane projection is unbelievable and so is the longevity it’s an excellent scent for patchouli lovers

X-men --------- Wolverine that's the character of this perfume is it a masterpiece? i have no idea if you walk on by someone and they turn around and ask " who the fook is that guy?" yes. yes. then yes.

the only thing i've smelled that is similar is patchouli noisette. Ligno would be the overpowered extrait version of PN. study bitcoin

I really like this perfume, it stood out to me when I was sampling the Jeroboam range, and I gave in and bought it at second sniff a week later. I’m a bit fussy about patchouli, I either like them really clean as in Chanel’s usual perfume range, or very boozy and chocolate-like. This one falls into the latter. It’s very thick, rich, nutty in the top. Essentially a suede-heavy patchouli. The dry down, unfortunately, doesn’t stay nutty on my skin, but is more animalic and musky. But this is essentially sexy, musky, patchouli for patchouli lovers. For reference, how this smells to me in relation to other more well-known patchoulis: Coromandel by Chanel - coromandel is much more herbaceous and mentholated and green to me. Coromandel smells medicinal and a bit like an indie apothecary, while Ligno to me is a lot richer and darker and smells almost like the colour black would smell. Coromandel is supposed to have a note of white chocolate but I don’t get that at all. Psychedelique by Jovoy - Psychedelique, to me, actually also smells very earthy and herbal, but admixed with this note of cocoa/chocolate - something dark and something green. Ligno, however, is all dark on me. Tempo by Diptyque - tempo is very earthy and soil-like, there’s nothing herbal nor nothing green, it smells truly natural and almost hippie-like in its earthiness. Tempo to me smells like the colour of translucent, lightly brewed rice tea. This seems to be voted more masculine; to me (female), it’s more unisex to very slightly leaning masculine in the drydown. Not work appropriate, seems polarising and a little bit skanky for the non patchouli-lovers. Polarity: unisex to slightly masculine Longevity: good Projection: soft to moderate

I’m not a fan of patchouly but this one balances things out. I’m not a huge fan of LIGNO but it does not smell bad. It reminds me of any one of the mainstream deodorants for men that would have a great longevity. Its not unique, but its worth a try.

Very nice patchouli heavy fragrance but it's way too overly spicy for me. It's woody and has a cinnamon like leathery base. I agree that it's slightly dark and masculine. I agree with one of the reviewers that it's an extremely dry patchouli.

I will spare you the essay. This is a DRY patchouly. It's a love hate thing. I personally like it. Works great as a base layer close to skin because it will stay forever. Then layer other perfumes on top. Good stuff

Absolutely masculine. Classic everyday man in a bottle. Agree that it kinda smells a bit deodarant/Axe body spray like. By no means smells bad.

You would think it would be dirtier, but its pleasant and sweet, reminds me of a Caribbean rum cake. I like it, but I'm a little disappointed.

Yeah, thought I was getting a super patchouli fragrance out of Ligno based on the above notes but they are almost completely wrong here. Correct note stack from the Jeroboam web site: Top: Bergamot, saffron, sage Middle: Ambergris, fir, balsam, rose, cistus Base: Patchouli, tonka bean, musk I did get the bite at the top from the bergamot and sage. As it dried down, quickly became more woody. Didn't really get any rose or any other florals. The patchouli did become more prominent quickly too with a slight muskiness. Fragrance is dark and masculine. Sillage was good for about one and a half hours but the longevity was a disappointment. Could barely detect it on my skin after about 5 hours (nose to skin). Not sure where people are getting super powerful performance out of Ligno, unless it's from spraying clothes which I don't do. Tested from a sample. Overall, liked the scent but will pass because of the poor longevity.

This is testosterone in a bottle. This is 100% manhood liquefied. An absolute smoking patchouli nuclear bomb with a hint of crisp pine mixed with that celery sage. As it settles I get more patchouli & a slight hint of dirty castorium & ambergris. Almost medicinal as it reaches the base notes... definitely getting more of the musk & ambroxan towards the end too. Not a bad fragrance at all just not for me.

This one is a mystery for me. It has many notes that I usually adore in other scents: clary sage, bergamot, labdanum, saffron... but I just don't like it. It smells dirty and sweet in a way I find annoying. Rarely do I see patchouli all the way from top to base. Maybe that is too much for me. Be aware but if you love patchouli maybe you should try...

Dark, somewhat cold damp sensation of feet on old leather sofa in raffish building, that was used once as men changing room...its next to an abandoned indoor pool...you can smell hint of chlorine... Interesting,...not for everyone, stay away from blind buys.
