Miel

It doesn't smell at all like Miel de Bois! I Love this perfume! It Is so unique, and the developement Is Just top-notch, really stylish and true the designer's heritage in every aspect, from the beautifully crafted packaging (a beauty to look at and to touch). The fragrance surprisingly starts with a dark honey/immortelle (a LOT of It) slightly smoky cedarwood and then becones more and more clear as It develops, the aldehydes start to appear in the Heart notes! Like the light filtering through the blinds makibg its way through the room. Just beautiful. Very Jilsander. No doubt about It. P.S. It Is true that somehow It reminds a bit of Bijaoui's Like This for Etat Libre d'Orange, not because of the scent itself, but the feeling you get wearing It, that same special sparkle that makes you think: "I smell fabulous even thought this Is a niche perfumes, it's so strange, yet so Easy to wear!"

Whoever says this smells pissy needs to get themselves checked. This is a very bright honey with a green linden-lilac undertone cut with sharp and fizzy aldehydes reminiscent of a grapefruit peel with none of the fruit. Gets a bit darker down the line, by the end it smells like a really sweet and smooth stout. Remains honeyed all the way through, and the honey sits somewhere between Osang and Pastoral. A near perfect designer release in my opinion, has the potential to become a love. Edit: It has grew on me significantly, It's a really easy wear but is multifaceted enough to keep me engaged, the experience of using it is really pleasing, the presentation on point, and the blown glass bottle is really something. I said it once, and I'll say it again- IT IS NOT PISSY! If you don't know how honey or aldehydes smell, please don't bother reviewing a fragrance that has both!

Incredibly unique, earthy, wild honey smell! This is evoking my memories of sipping Greek mountain tea. To my nose, this is distictively Mediterranean, with vetiver doubling as sundried oregano or thyme. Think of a warm summer breeze at a Cycladic island. I get the piss-y comments, as this is far from the gourmand & mellow honey notes we are used to from designer houses. The aldehydes make it volatile, crisp, and bright. An energy shifter. To me this is an authentically unisex fragrance and a genuinely daring release that got me excited after a long time. For UK folks, you can sample at Selfridges.

A bright, sunny pollen-ridden honey scent with a bit of hay-like vetiver. Not sweet or syrupy. Very sunny and naturey. It reminds me a bit of Tilia by Marc-Antoine Barrois. Just remove the solar note and the white florals. I like this one better than Tilia. I think it's more chic, fashion-forward and unique. Smelled at Bloomingdales. Did not test on the skin. Smell: 9 out of 10 Strength: 7 out of 10 Unisex, leaning feminine

Miel is unmistakably honey, not the filthy, growling kind of honey but one mixed with pollen, roots and aromatics. Powdered, yes, but not compact-powder coldness or a cosmetic counter under white lighting. Imagine more of a faint pat of baby powder still clinging to someone after they’ve washed. A little floral, little creamy. The honey has that dense golden waxiness, but the musk keeps tugging it back towards the body, away from anything syrupy or edible. Thinking about it, the clearest image I get is a bar of milky honey soap left at the edge of a bath. It has already been used. It is slightly soft underneath, still warm, maybe damp where someone’s fingers were holding it. And there is a slight sweatiness to Miel, which sounds awful, so HEARRRR ME OUT. I don’t mean stale, sour, or unwashed. I mean the warmth that gathers under clean fabric after someone has been dressed for a while. Skin beneath floral powder. The faint salt left at the neck. Recent warmth. That tiny bodily note is what saves it from becoming generic. It gives the honey a pulse. A little flirtation. A small, unexpected oh? Think someone has bathed, powdered themselves, put on something soft, and then leaned closer than they needed to. You notice the honey, then the soap, then the person underneath it all. Cozy, vintage, and very pretty, but not innocent exactly. There is a body under the sweetness.

On first experience, I find this really light and unassuming. I had to use about 8 spritzes from the sample vial to really feel like I was getting anything out of it. Perhaps the experience with a full bottle spray would be more productive. I definitely get a mellowed honey, a delicate jasmine, and somewhere in there, I detected hops, or as someone pointed out below, stout. The cedar and Vetiver is there as a subtle subtext to the honey and aldehydes. This is growing on me! 🍯

The least sweet honey fragrance I've tried - very naturalistic and not perfumey at all. Almost dirty and a bit animalistic. Interesting and commendable for a designer to put out something with the opposite of mass appeal, but I wouldn't want to do a full wear.

Dirty underwear with some sweet body odor. "Honey piss". More an experiment than a perfume.

Indeed a very funky and pissy honey fragrance. Overwhelmingly sweet and intense. Not for me.

For completeness I'll write a review for this one but I find it hard to get into the details of something that feels so singularly a honey scent. It's not one of my favorite notes, and for that I just don't have the references to distinguish whether this is any better than other honey scents out there. The beginning really had me though- It felt purer, leaner, and brighter than other honey scents I've tried. With time it still developed that agrestic honeyed edge to it though- pollen, honeycomb, prairie grass, and a little animalic bite. It does have a floral-soapy element that I kinda enjoy. In fact maybe I need to give this more of a chance because that spicy musky sweetness really jumps out and takes your attention compared to some of the other perfumes in this series. There's an warm-linen freshness that pokes through as well. May update with more.

If you've ever had "milk and honey" scented anything, this veers in that direction. However, there's more dimension here, specifically the "pissy" element that some honey scents can have. Strange push/pull between "functional" and funky. Ultimately, I think the "functional" quality wins out.
