Simply Jil Sander Elixir

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Sprayed it on paper as soon as I got it (I was wearing something else when this came in). I got a very in-your-face musky violet.... and I said "hey, this is not what I wanted" (I wanted a leather like in my Canali Black Diamond which is discontinued)... Very disappointed being about that, I sprayed it on skin on a spot where I wasn't wearing anything... "EH.. that's more like it!".. After a quick burst of sweet blood orange (like in the first blast of 1 million) this went towards a arid powdery-floral. The more it stood on the skin, the more it became a dusty-powdery-woody-leather with a very very light candied vanilla in the background. The iris here is very dry. Note that I am a man and I love this fragrance, but I see it as a classy unisex fragrance, not a very masculine one. I wanted to get this out quick because I was very enthusiastic about Simply Elixir. Will get back with performance and other observations after a few wears. FULL OPINION: When you spray this you cannot feel any spice! It's a burst of sweet orange, non-acid, non-sour, with a lot of violet that gives it a creamy powdery feel. After about an hour, you start to get a more dry feel (I think that's the iris and ginger) with a woody powdery vibe (probably from the vanilla-cedar combo). After an hour, a dusty feeling comes more and more to the front as this one dries down (leather). The patchouli comes to play only in the far dry-down (after more than 6 hours). So, it's powdery-creamy-sweet in the first hour, after that it becomes more and more dry-powdery, but retains a creamy aspect and in the far dry-down you are left with a iris-leather-patchouli combo that gives off hints of the violet in the opening and the mid. I expected this to be a more leathery scent. It's a luxurious. quality fragrance, unisex (right in the mid) and a great bang for you buck (20$ per 40ml) Oh, for performance, this projects very good in the first hour, moderate for another 3-4, maybe 5 hours, then it leaves a dense cloud around you of powdery-creamy with hints of darkness. I get more than 10h from this. My verdict: CLASS all the way with this one

To me, this a mix of Fahrenheit by Christian Dior and Jil by Jil Sander. My fiancé used to wear Fahrenheit quite often and Jil was my signature at one point, so that only confirms we’re a good match 😉, as I love this! Even though he confirmed the similarity to Fahrenheit, he would not wear this one, as the feminine aspect of it is just as present. I wouldn’t mind this on him though, but agree that it truly is a combination of both. Anyway...that leaves more for me!

Lovely scent. Just like all Jil Sander perfumes sophisticated, warm, cozy, there but not prominent. Just caching a wave of this delicious sweet and somewhat masculine perfume. All her perfumes are unisex in mine opinion. Longtivity and projection is moderate unfortunately if more it would be in my top favourite list

I got a sample of this with a purchase and the comparisons to Fahrenheit on this and the original Simply scared me a little. Fahrenheit is very stereotypically manly for me and I have no interest in smelling masculine. But there was no need to be afraid, even though they really have some similarities. Simply Elixir is strong on the violet leaf and leather, and it has that weird petrol vibe, but it also has vanilla, mandarin and florals, and these notes round it out and make it feminine enough. This is a little rough for a feminine perfume, it could be unisex, but I find it surprisingly wearable. It‘s not overwhelmingly strong, even relatively weak for something called „Elixir“, and I noticed it works better on me when I spray it twice on the same spot. Then it smells a little like tea with orange slices floating in it, soft leather and tobacco. And when it dries down, it smells softly spicy and like you just hugged a guy who wears Fahrenheit. Ultimately this is not really my style, I like my leather fragrances softer, but the more I try of this, the more I like it. Definitely interesting and worth a try if you like leather scents!

Simply Elixir is a pure Leather-scent on my skin with a male'ish airy note, maybe the Patchouli or Cedar that make it. This one reminds me alot of Van Cleef & Arpels Midnight in Paris. A great leather-scent but on my skin it turns to male'ish, and thats a bummer. I get no Violet or Rose-note at all.
