Ebony & Cassis

Opens a little smokey, with resinous dark fruits, mixed with an almost animalic musk. The black currant comes through as a ripe and dark berry. As the scent develops further, the fruitiness continues in the mid, but sweeter. The smokey resins slowly disappear. As the perfume dries down further, an Amber accord starts to bloom from the fruity notes, until the fruitiness is completely gone and you are left with an amber and rose like scent (reminiscent of TF's Rose Prick) This is a very complex fragrance. The notes listed on Fragrantica are misleading. The only thing that seems accurate is the black currant. I do get a slight dried or dark fruit like scent, so maybe that's the date? But I do not get any woodiness at all in this fragrance. And what's missing is the smoke, resins, musk, and amber, and the rose smell at the very end. From beginning to end, you are taken on quite a scent journey. You'd have to experience for yourself to understand. But to sum it up, it's a dark, resinous, fruity, amber fragrance. This fragrance is not for everyone. Definitely not blind buy safe. If you like very dark and fruity scents, you might favor this one. If you are a frag head like myself, you will appreciate what this fragrance has to offer, even if it's not your cup of tea. But most might find the fragrance odd, too unique. Performance sadly is lackluster. Longevity is about 4-5 hours before it's a skin scent. Projection is strong the first 10 minutes, and then it's very close to the skin. I've only tried this fragrance in the heat of summer, so can't speak to how it performs in cold weather, but this fragrance is probably best suited for cold weather situations.

Smokey and a darker fragrance for sure. Very spiced- it reminds me of Etui Noir but less leather and more fruity, if that makes sense. My dad thought I’d sprayed my husbands Gucci Guilty Absolue when I sprayed myself after my husband in the bathroom so that should give you an idea of what direction this goes. Quite unisex but can easily be pulled off by a lady. Cooler weather frag.

I just received this today from my monthly subscription and I'm already in love with it. This is very enjoyable, warm and comforting. I'll definitely be purchasing a full sized bottle.

Lovely, complex top notes. Fruity, smokey, slightly burned (the date?) with hints of patchouli. Nothing sweet so far. This mellows to a rich vein of floral, verging on white floral, a touch indolic and intense, rich nectar. Reminds me of a dirty Jasmine Sambac but in a nice way. Cedarwood definitely holding it all together, giving breadth and dampens the vibrant fruit. After 10 minutes a subdued, smokey, honey edge reveals itself in total harmony. The fruit note is rich and, to me, not obviously cassis and difficult to pin down. Very mature, spiced mango perhaps but nevertheless distinctive and attractive. Worth the money and you would certainly be noticed and complimented, male or female.

Dates. Dates in a fruit cake. Dates and blackcurrants in a Christmas cake baked by a goth. As it fades it's the same, a little more spice than fruit, edging on floral, but on me the sillage is terrible. I get a little cedar. It's supposed to have grapefruit, geranium bourbon, cedar leaves, nutmeg, cedarwood atlas, vetiver, patchouli and musk. I get what I get. Ebony is not exactly a misnomer, but this thing isn't the blackness I wanted. I know exactly why I turned to goth brands.
