Pomelo

Testing Pomelo from a 2 ml Jo Loves official sample. This juice is absolutely lovely, let me tell you that! Obviously, it’s a pomelo dominant scent as expected from the name, but it’s paired beautifully with cloves, rose and a clean patchouli note. So there’s more substance to it as I was anticipating by the title, which is a wonderful surprise for me. To summarise its essence, Pomelo is a wonderful warm, soft spicy, rosy, pomelo focused scent with a photorealistic smell in the opening. To those familiar with this delicious, juicy fruit, this scent will bring you so much joy every time you smell it. It’s bright and fresh, juicy, sweet and energising. A perfect scent to start your morning with or for relaxing weekend days... Not the longest lasting though, it’s a citrus scent, but fairly versatile as far as seasons go, thanks to the supporting notes of rose, cloves, vetiver and patchouli. I really love this scent and if I were to own a small bottle, which I see happening in the future, I would use Pomelo for most seasons, except winter. It would be brilliant in all types of weather, because it’s not just freshly squeezed pomelo juice, as I anticipated. And it’s one of those Jo Loves perfumes that falls under the radar, I haven’t really heard anything about it on socials, and it’s an old release at this point. What is for sure, it’s that it’s nicer than it sounds! Very impressed with it, goes to my to buy list immediately. If I can find a travel size of this, I am definitely buying one it, whit spring around the corner.

I have a thing for morning fragrances. It’s such a wonderfully luxurious experience to awaken to a beautiful fragrance, so I keep a special selection by my bedside table which I use immediately upon rising. Jo Loves Pomelo is one of my favourite choices; after all, what better scent can brush away the cobwebs of slumber than grapefruit? It sharpens the senses, enlivening my torpid mind as it refreshes the surrounding air. Full disclosure - I am so absolutely not a morning person, I struggle to feel fully awake, which takes far too long. I need all the help I can get to pull me out of that zombie-like state. Jo Loves Pomelo is a highly effective pick me up, it’s the fragrance equivalent of a double espresso! For a citrus fragrance, it has surprising lasting power, those sharp and invigorating top notes hang around absolutely intact for well over an hour on my skin, before they begin to nestle (without ever disappearing) into the softer base notes of patchouli and vetiver. All my morning fragrances feature citrus top notes, but Jo Loves Pomelo outlasts them all. Highly recommended to fellow sleepyheads!

This fragrance is great if you like citrus forward scents. Bright sweet citrus opening, then it’s peppery, woody and spicy, but it actually does maintain some of that citrus throughout its wear. The notes and scent evolution were a bit unexpected to me, but I think they work well together and it smells fantastic. Because of the spicy citrus, I think it’s also appropriate year round. Citrus will always have a “summer” energy, but add in some clove, woods, spices — it’s fall/wintery too. ▪️SAFE BLIND BUY: nope. ▪️PROJECTION: people around you will smell it...not a “skin” scent ▪️LONGEVITY: moderate. The citrus note here survives longer on clothes than skin. ▪️GENDER: definitely unisex, leans masc to me. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll still wear it cause it just smells great and I love citrus. There’s just enough sweetness in the citrus for it to feel feminine on women too. ▪️AGE GROUP: gives me 30s+ vibes. I can’t see young folks going for it.

I got a sample of this and its a great juice. The opening is like you were peeling a pomelo. Burst of citrus in your face but not harsh, its very clean and fruity. Jo Loves pomelo is a nice citrus scent, a bit earthy maybe because of the vetiver and there’s a mysterious side to it. When i tried this fragrance its like I was wrap with a fresh and thick citrus scent. The projection is good. It scent leaves a good tail of scent. Good longevity. I can see this as an everyday scent that i could wear.

this is like peeling and snacking on a big green pomelo with fluffy skin. the freshness, tiny spray of pomelo oil when i peel off the skin... this pomelo is the sweet bitter type, my favorite. there's a hint of leather-animalic-earthy as the base, really, just like after eating a pomelo. after leisurely sitting & discovering the brand's vials, Pomelo has entered my full bottle wishlist! the perfect for mornings pick me up or energizing hot afternoon fragrance.

a photorealistic smell of peeling a ripe pomelo, sinking your fingers into the pith and pulling the chunks apart. it's exactly what i was hoping for and exactly what i was looking for. it's settles into creamy citrus with aromatic woods, the patchouli is not overwhelming and for some reason in leans slightly into freesia-like notes in the drydown.

A very bright, ripe pomelo. This really feels like you just cut open a pomelo fruit and you get that strong citrus blast at first sniff. The vetiver in this grounds it and makes it more balanced. I do get the similarity to Terre d' Hermes however I'd say this is a fresher, juicier version that is almost more playful. Where TDH is much more serious and masculine, Pomelo plays more unisex imo. Longevity and silage are actually pretty strong on me - 8 hours on my skin and lasts through an entire work day garnering quite a few compliments!

Light pleasant citrus cologne—photorealistic Pomelo. There is a juicy quality to it. 10 minutes into it, a spice appeared, and I would have said “ginger” since I didn’t look up the notes, but that may be the clove. I really liked that phase, but then it passes to a musky-slight-patch’n’vetiver drydown. The vetiver is very low-key and serves to accentuate the Pomelo-forward top notes. It blurs into a musky-warm drydown. Never smelled the rose. Nice. But not my thing. Great for hot weather, office, perfectly unisex, entirely inoffensive.

A fresh pomelo opening, bitter skin, sweet lingering floral juice like piercing a frsh green pomelo. I like the bitter vetiver that weaves around very light and airy citrus. There was a little clove and suede that came together a little too coarsely for a few seconds but faded quickly. On my skin it created a bit of a smokey incense vibe that took over from the citrus. Not as fruity and juicy as vetiver pamplemousse and lacking in sweetness. More woody and bitter than expected but a nice strong dose of vetiver.

Pomelo is one of my favorite fruits in the world. Basically a bigger, sweeter, and more delicious version of grapefruit. The opening of this perfume is a very photorealistic scent of a ripe citrusy pomelo. Sweet but sour, bitter but juicy. Oh, how I wish it lasted. The citrus profile is pretty much gone in an hour leaving a woody vetiver scent behind. So, this one would be a quick errand or before bed fragrance for me if I were to get a full bottle.

With all respect, the perfume is called Pomelo. What do you expect? Seriously. I would be shocked if it smells like chocolate and ambergris. But not if it smells like grapefruit. I find the combination of citrus-bitter Pomelo and dry Vetiver fantastic. Bright, happy, easy to wear. And for the reviewers who “hated” and found the scent “the worst”, it would help others if you write in a more specific and adult manner.

Just for those that are wondering if it’s a clone of terre de Hermes it’s not and it has nothing to do with it It is a wonderful citrus based scent that gets a little of sharpness from the vetiver I enjoyed it very much Yes it is weak unfortunately But no worries it’s the kind of scent that you can wear multiple times a day without worrying of it annoying you Just keep spraying and enjoying

This one is lovely! Opens very citrus and then dries down sweeter. It definitely leans masculine. I know that a lot of people don’t believe perfume is gendered and often I agree with this but this belongs on a man I feel. It performs exceptionally and I can still smell my few sprays hours later. Citrus, earthy, a little sweet. Lovely.

Woody grapefruit. Fruity with an edge, or some history. I would wear this in the summer for more of a big city setting, rather than someplace quiet or tropical.

Light and refreshing... it’s just a tad bit too light in my opinion. Otherwise it’s a perfectly good freshie.

So I love a citrussy fragrance and this definitely delivers on that account. It's bright, fresh and really zingy on opening, and a tad bitter, which I like. I don't get too much by way of rose at the start, but it does ease slightly more floral as the top notes fade and there's a lovely woodiness to it on dry down. There's still a slight citrussy bitterness in the dry down as well, which I love. I'd definitely say it's a unisex scent. It's really pleasant to wear to work on a summer's day, and I'll wear out the sample I have, but if I were to buy a Jo Loves citrus (I've tried some from the discovery box), it would be Green Orange and Coriander over this one I think. Edit: I was a tad quick to review this I think. Sitting in my office wearing this, over time it seems to have developed into something quite strong and a tad cloying. There's a slight masculine aftershave sort of smell to it now. Not the one for me and I'm not sure I will wear out the sample now!

I did not seek this fragrance out. Another swapped order but I thought it would be interesting anyway. It’s very much not that. Straight forward bursting, bright, oily pomelo. After some drying there’s a pinch of fresh rose and some softer woodier layers but it’s overwhelmingly citrusy. Reminds me of my time working in an assisted living facility. Had to look up the price for this one and was honestly shocked. It’s such a simple, kinda boring, perfume. I guess pomelo lovers have deep pockets. Good for y’all. Don’t let a silly review talk you out of getting a sample of this. If all that sounds like your kinda thing.

A citrus lover’s dream, but maybe not mine. This fragrance is exactly what it promises: an ultra-realistic pomelo, as if you’re peeling the fruit with your hands, juice dripping down your fingers. The opening is sharp, tangy, and slightly bitter, bursting with that unmistakable citrus zest. As it dries down, a woody base emerges, softening the sharpness slightly, but the citrusy brightness remains dominant. It’s incredibly well-executed, no doubt, but for someone who isn’t drawn to citrus-heavy perfumes, it feels more like an experience than something I’d personally reach for.

A bright, clear grapefruit opening that feels sweeter and more accessible than the sharper citrus style from Jo Malone London. As it develops, the citrus blends into a more aromatic base, with a noticeable patchouli presence that adds depth but can feel a little heavy-handed. Pleasant enough, but fairly linear and not something I’d reach for over others I already own.

I love the juicy opening but then... Well, it becomes too leathery, and a bit soapy. Definitely not my idea of a citrus fragrance.

I really loved the realistic pomelo smell but was saddened that it didn't last too long. I understand that the smell of freshly-cut citrus is hard to stabilise- i guess that's why we associate the smells with freshness! But the short-lived opening notes gave way to a clove scent that to me smelled slightly stale or rancid; it mademe wonder whether the perfume had gone off.

Greatly dislike this, I do not get the pomelo citrusy scent at all, far too woody and bitter for me. Seems slightly sweet, but would say this is a pretty masculine fragrance.

Oh, this is definitely not for me. From the minute it left the bottle I I hated it. I was hoping on the dry down that it would soften up a bit but no. Might be one of the worst things I’ve smelled. Very strong, can’t get away from it even after washing my arm. Great for people who like super strong overpowering headache inducing type fragrances

Harsh, dry, disjointed. Not a drop of the "mouth-watering" juice described by the company. I don't know if it's just on my skin but it opened with a screech and settled into an awful mess. I gave it a full hour before scrubbing it off.

Something about it gives me a terrible headache. The citrus smell by itself is pleasant but the heavy smell underneath it is terrible.

The naturalness of printed notes the essence of niche fragrances is something transcendental, maybe it consists of the same ease win noses who undergo feel them or try them. With Pomelo by Jo Loves is no different, as it hides such a rough spontaneity of the real that imagination comes to believe that his grades are live and in color before you. Pomelo is a most excellent fragrance launched in 2011 by the subtle hands of Jo Malone, which, by the way, is a master in the preparation of fragrances to "live smells". Its opening is a citrus and uncontrollable explosion of Pomelo fruit, better known as grapefruit or even Orange Asian; this Pomelo is properly mature and was starting manually, where the juice its bitter bark mixture to the juice that drips from his buds to be broken, splendid thing to feel. The time passes and the fragrance acquires rough features, or say rustic, and from this moment comes the Roses smell of parched mixed with juice Pomelo found there at its opening, however, does not stop there because the Vetiver appears maturing the fragrance and giving exclusivity to it, amid all these mixtures; the result remains excellent. At its base, Grapefruit Jo Loves presents roots of Patchouli with some touches of acouradas notes, something dry spicy kind of closes with magnificence fragrance. It is a scent that the first 2 hours designs quite soon after becomes close, but now and then designs and starts praise or curiosities, returning to profitability again. Fixed and well worth the investment because of the discovery of exclusivity as simple and common notes. Word of the Day: appreciation... (day 07)

i would say that it is a sweet pomelo smell..with an earthy smell..the pomelo smell lasted through out the progress of the smell..my wife loves it though reminded her of the time in the orchards of pomelo..i would say that it is a journey of pomelo orchard which i have experienced up where you would also smell the grass mixed with decayed pomelo in the orchard. I would say it is a great fragrance. Jo loves idea is unique..in a sense that it brings the experience of a pomelo orchards everywhere via a bottle...eating a pomelo purchased in the shop and spraying the perfume will definately bring the experienced for the nose as walking in the orchard of pomelo is cheaper and less hassle than traveling to experience the pomelo orchard :-)

This "Pomelo" is in my wish list since the beginning. I love pomelo scent alot and not many production. If any of guru would suggest me which one is best please let me know. Many thanks, For Jo loves I have no chance to try or get sample but always in my mind; I can guess the feeling of scents for all olfactory Jo's.. but questioned and curious of its longevity & sillage as it declares "A Fragrance". Jo loves should be aware of this point and propose for sample test widely!! Without getting tested or confirmed I won't pay for all these expensive juices. If anyone can help... please >,

Ohhhh this IS a unisex scent! I read on another site that it was for women, & very feminine perfume. I just received a sample, & it’s unique for a citrus scent. Definitely smell the Jo Malone DNA, & it has a nice almost hint of pine over the musky citrus trees. I don’t smell the “feminine” notes much as a matter of fact it smells much more like a straight up men’s cologne to me. Not even a handsome, stylish pretty boy type, but more a button down flannel, bearded dad that works on his car, & chops his own wood. Overall I give it an A-

Smells like Grapefruit by Jo Malone London, but not so refined. More stale while quickly fading. For a grapefruity Pomelo fragrance I recommend the original or Jo by Jo Loves (a much better dupe from Lime Basil & Mandarine from Jo Malone London). I like Jo Malone and have respect for her achievements, but whats the point for selling your company and your name and then trying afterwards to replicate your own fragrances? Just let go and grab the money.

Backstory: After selling her Jo Malone company, battling cancer, and losing her sense of smell from chemo, this was her first vision of creating a new fragrance after years of not being able to smell while on vacation in Turks & Caicos. The Pomelo faded too quickly so she had to find a expert to help make it last longer. Love her life story, looking forward to trying this frag one day.

Fantastic smell. Opens with a fresh citrus but evolves quickly into something deeper. Extremely wearable in hot climate. I bought the discovery set to test Jo new perfumes and so glad I did. The smoke plum and leather I intended to buy became very cloying in our Brazilian climate while Pomelo gets better while wearing. Everybody asks me what perfume it is...

Starts with a blast of pomelo and citrus. A little loud of freshness at first, a little peppery. Optimistic and daring. Dries down earthy. Imagine drinking a fizzy citrus with crushed ice. A very cooling optimistic unisex fragrance. EDIT: This perfume performs so well in hotter climate! A burst of absolute fizz and freshness! *sniffs and exhales*

This and Green Orange&Coriander are my favourites from the line, I get compliments whenever I wear either of them, and they last for a long time on my skin. I always love taking a random sniff of my wrist during the day, which always makes me smile. I really do not know why people still buy JML when this brand is superior in every way!

Found this in a charity shop for $3, brand new! Was super excited to try, with its cult status and all. But unfortunately it rubs me up the wrong way. VERY strong citrus peel aroma, bitter, sharp, fresh, a little sweet... Yes, like a pomelo, but I did not enjoy it. It made me feel sick. I’ll give it to my mum who loves pomelo.

Aromatic, Earthy, Lemon Zest, Squeezed lemon Juice... The vetiver is strong oh and a dash of CLOVE seals the deal. This is ideal for someone who loved the green type scents, heavy yellow citrus...perhaps out gardening in the grove or picking weeds. It Is pleasant, but I do not see any other ocasion fit for this type of scent.

This opens with a blast of grapefruit. However it settles to a sweet sherbert scent, that's my only way to describe it. Sweet and fizzy. I didn't like the grapefruit note but the mid note is lovely. However I wouldn't pay the price ths is.

Opens wonderfully, but the realistic pomelo note is fleeting. The rest is rather green and heavy on the vetiver. I wish the citrus stuck around longer.

FRESH POMELO is the best way to describe this fragrance. It's so fresh, tart and sweet. One of my go-to fragrances for the spring and summer.

hell no! terrible... annoying scent
