This is one of the most realistic rose scents I’ve come across. It truly smells like fresh rose petals soaked in water. The sharp, aldehydic citrus opening gives it a crisp, almost clean laundry vibe, but in a way that complements the floral notes rather than overpowering them. There’s a strong sense of freshness here, making it a perfect choice for those who love a pure, airy rose without any heavy sweetness or powderiness.

Bright, sparkling rose - beautiful and young, brings about an aura of positivity. I love roses and especially such juicy (even sharp) takes on the theme. This is a very specific fragrance, with a 'clean' and even metallic undertone that becomes more prominent as time goes by.

Nothing special, any other Fragonaurd or other similar French house would offer this easy rose fragrance

It’s okay, but has a sharp metallic note that I’m not crazy about. If, like me, you prefer a softer green rose then I recommend Paul Smith Rose which is a young fresh rose and is sweeter. I normally mix Jo Loves with something else like Paul Smith or Chopard Love. Update - I am trying this again after a long break. I still dislike the citric metallic opening, but it does improve on me after the opening notes have disappeared. There are many other rose perfumes I like much more than this, but it’s quite pleasant in the dry down.

This is a true “Rose de Mai” fragrance; it is centered on rose de Mai absolute, with a boost from other rose essences and accompanied by ambrette for a musky base. One professional publication lists the notes as follows: bergamot, saffron, lychee, Turkish rose, Bulgarian rose; rose de Mai absolute, another rose absolute and ambrette seed. That list seems correct to me. This is a really nice version of rose: it is modern and somewhat streamlined, but it has more complexity and development than a pure rose soliflore, and it creates a more youthful impression than some rose fragrances (as does Jo Loves’ White Rose & Lemon Leaves). My nose picks up the bergamot, saffron and lychee in the opening notes, and the saffron lingers a while with the rose notes, which lends distinction to the fragrance. The rose notes smell realistic, not synthetic, which suggests high-quality ingredients. But this fragrance is all about the rose petals, as its name suggests; I don’t smell greenery or earth. Just glorious rose petals, with the fresh opening from those top notes, and a slight muskiness hovering in the background.

No reviews for this one yet? Well, I’ve only just started exploring perfume in the last few weeks, so I’m probably not the best person to write one! This reminds me of a classic old-fashioned bar of soap. Unmistakably pale pink rose, classic and clean. I think it would be lovely on a warm summer’s day.
