Elderflower Cordial Cologne

Soo creamy! I didn't expect to love this so much. It smells fruity, but in a new way that is different from the usual berry, stone fruit, apple/pear, citrus or tropical fruits. I ate gooseberries as a child, we had them in our garden, but it's been so long that I'm not 100% sure I can recognize them here... even though I think I do. Anyways, I definitely get the elderflower note, and true to the name, this smells more like an elderflower syrup used for drinks than the real flower. The rest of the scent is just pure creaminess, right between whipped cream and expensive body cream. Not fully edible smelling, but definitely gourmand leaning. This is very sweet and intense, especially for a Jo Malone scent. If you don't like sweet, fruity gourmands, you might find it cloying, and in general I think it shouldn't be oversprayed. In my opinion this is the one fragrance from the Marmalade collection that really captures the deliciousness of jammy cooked-up fruits, the others are much lighter and fresher. This is warm and inviting instead, and maybe more suited to spring than to the hottest days of summer.

This is a very pretty, soft and sweet floral fragrance. As it was my first elderflower perfume, I wasn't sure what to expect but I am absolutely entranced by this type of floral note- soft, powdery, lightly sweet, fresh. There's a warm sweetness of the dried apricot that lingers on me after drying down, which is very lovely. It really does feel like a perfect, clean skin scent without being at all soapy or musky. I know this scent was targeted for spring/summer, but I think it could be worn year round. Among the "Marmalade" collection this was a standout for me- I considered buying the whole lineup (because of the cute scent theme and packaging) but opted to just purchase this and Rose Blush after smelling the others and not being terribly impressed. I hope Jo Malone considers adding Elderflower Cordial or a similar elderflower concoction to their permanent collection, I would definitely (re)purchase!

I absolutely adore this perfume, which is a shock because this was not love at first sniff for me. It initially smelled so powdery I was going to return it. I’m glad I tested it for a few days, because I fell I love! It’s not an evening perfume or something that’s going to knock your socks off, but it is very pleasant and comforting. Something you could wear everyday, year round. The powdery aspect fades as it dries down, and the sweet notes start to come out. It lasts well on me. It becomes a skin scent around 6 hours. Better lasting power than the Tangy Rhubarb and Blackberry and Bay on me.

Heavenly. I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to purchase this fragrance at an outlet, as it’s not for sale anymore - and I couldn’t be happier about it! It opens up with the elderflower note, fresh and sweet. Imagine a slightly wet garden in the early springtime. Later, I can feel the tangy note of the gooseberry. The dried fruits give it a nice, mature vibe, they make that fragrance feel gourmand. Although, at the beginning the dried fruits can have an almost “lipsticky” feeling to them.

I got a soft sweet fruity scent from opening. This perfume does not seem floral to me. Love the softness that you can almost seem to be able to touch. Quite surprised to see that most people vote the flower as the strongest note and the dried fruits as the weakest. Of the whole marmalade collection, I love this the most.

I absolutely loved it, it's sweet, slightly fruity, very lightweight, well blended and so unique! I never smelled elderflower before! I think this limited edition is one of the best ive tried! I'm surprised it's not well known in the JM community. I do agree that it's also very creamy!

I rarely buy a Jo Malone due to the fact they don't last. This one was love at first sniff for me. It's beautiful and unique. I normally test for a few days, but I bought it within an hour of testing. I already e mailed the company to ask to put it in the normal line up.

Please bring this back! I adore this whole collection-imo, no collection has been anywhere near as good since from JM. But elderflower specifically is such a unique treasure in my collection.

Nagyon hasonlít a Monotheme Cameliahoz.

This is so sweet, dreamy, powdery, and feminine without veering into full-on dessert territory. It smells like a boiled elderflower sweet with a fine dusting of powdered sugar on top. No harshness at all– just some creamy-sweet elderflower and a hint of gooseberry and other forest fruits. This would be a great sundress perfume, and I have even worn it to bed since it's so comforting. It's so delicate, fun, and inoffensive and sets itself apart from the popular girly fruit/gourmandchoulis that tend to dominate the big designer houses.

I love gooseberries and elderflower, so it was a no brainer for me. Especially, as previous collection was also limited edition and hard to get. I am not THAT over the hill about the new bottle format... Otherwise, a fruity, sweet concoccion, for Jo Malone fans and those who like soft perfumes.

An interesting blend of floral, powdery, and sweet-n-sour fruity. User Brooke1988 below offers a great description of this fragrance's journey. It starts out powdery-floral, then warms into a juicy, fruity, almost tart dry-down. It's fun and flirty. Something not to take too seriously.

I was so happy tro find this since i was looking for an elderflower scent. My first impression left me dissapointed since the elderflower is nowhere to be found here. After trying it for a few weeks i now enjoy it for what it acctually does bring: sweet, powdery dried fruits

When I first smelled this, I loved its unique powdery smell, so I bought it. Smells really gourmand to me, but after wearing it throughout my day sadly I don't like it this much. The first spray and the projection is really true to the notes of the perfume. However it dries down to a skin scent, a dried fruit super sweet smell that gives me a headache throughout the day. I love its packaging though! Got me to buy it!

these are not notes that go together well, in my opinion. Just a fairly forgettable scent.

I found the packaging of the Marmalade Collection to be so charming that I treated myself to a couple of these darling little bottles, they are so pretty and special. They are inspired by vintage jam jars and have such a lovely design, the top of each cap is unique, with an image of one of the key notes in each fragrance. Elderflower Cordial is a reissue of Elderflower & Gooseberry from the 2013 Sugar & Spice collection, so the perfumer is wonderfully talented Christine Nagel. I have almost a dozen soft florals in my perfume collection, but it's not a fragrance family that feels especially summery to me, I find soft florals more suited to cooler weather. This is a summer fragrance for a warm and bright day, rather than a hot and humid one. It starts out very powdery but dries down to a delicate fruity scent. If this was fragrance was an article of clothing it would be a pretty broderie anglaise dress. The recommended pairing for this is my favourite Jo Malone scent, Blackberry & Bay, which happily I already have a full size bottle of.

Upon first spray, I get a bright, fresh, tart (slightly bitter) opening, reminiscent of under-ripened berries. As it ages on the skin, the soft semi-sweet floral note (elderflower, I assume) begins to blossom, though it never fully veers into heady floral territory. The dry down produces final notes of dried apricot and dried cranberries which intermingle well with the gorgeously feminine and delicate floral introduced in the mid. This is a lovely, pure and gently sweet skin scent - nothing to write home about but delightful, nonetheless!

Honestly I have no idea what’s wrong with me because I blind bought this without knowing what gooseberry or elderflower smells like. It’s basically a very light, (duh it’s Jo Malone) slightly powderpuff, slightly sweet scent, with just the subtlest hint of berries. It’s totally fine, nothing to dislike but nothing to love either.
