Raspberry Ripple

This is the first time I've ever outright bought a perfume after only testing it once... well technically twice, but still. I first tested it this morning and LOVED it so after doing my errands I went back to try it a second time. After a couple minutes' deliberation I went ahead and bought it. To my nose this does indeed smell like raspberries and ice cream, but NOT raspberry ripple ice cream: vanilla ice cream topped with fresh raspberries rather than swirled with raspberry syrup. And that's what's hooked me--finally a raspberry perfume that's fresh! And not in the shampoo-y way! Not only that, but this is what I like to call an "understated gourmand" (Lush's American Cream is another favourite of mine for this). This isn't one of those heavy hitters that's too cloying for hot weather, not if you use a light hand anyway (I use 2 sprays). It's still a very sweet vanilla but, by nature of being a Jo Malone release, isn't intense. The projection is relatively short lived (projects strongly for about 30 minutes, then recedes to a more intimate scent bubble for the next 2-ish hours, then becomes a skin scent for another 2-ish hours) but the longevity is surprisingly great! By JM standards, anyway. Somewhere in the region of 5-6 hours total but I think for the "full" experience you do need to reapply every 3-4 hours. For me this is one of those rare "any time, any place, any weather" type of scents, which I massively gravitate towards--it annoys me to no end having perfumes on my shelf that I can't use for part of the year! Gotta love a good "dumb reach" you don't have to put any thought behind before wearing it.

🍦🍭💕This is for those who want to smell as close to an ice cream as possible without smelling too literally like food. This feels very much like you're the sweet treat on a summer date. Definitely very tart but I still get creamy notes with this even though there's no vanilla or cream (creamy musk?). It's kind of like when I was surprised to see that my favorite strawberry ice cream flavor from Haagan Dazs doesn't contain any vanilla but I get a subtle vanilla taste. This is very summer-y but I can also see this as being a great date night fragrance due to its intense fruity zesty creaminess that feels absolutely delectable! (๑>؂•̀๑) I think that's the beauty of this fragrance how these notes play off of each other to create this beautiful illusion of a raspberry ripple ice cream. It's sweet and syrupy and has this almost honey-like taste to it. Sillage is pretty damn good I would say for at least the first couple hours and after there a few times afterwards where maybe I caught a whiff of myself randomly–so not sure if the sillage is actually better than I think due to nose blindness. The lasting power on my skin was super! I applied this 9am in the morning and by 6pm there was still a very subtle linger that smelled of creamy florals and speaking of creamy florals– ‧+ ̊❀༉‧+ ̊. The dry down for some reason smells floral to me–like jasmine with the musk which makes this a perfect gourmand for me – as someone who doesn't want to smell like a literal food and needs just a dash of complexity or unpredictability in their fragrance

Okay. I know people are feeling a certain kind of way about the branding, and granted it was misleading. BUT... I bought this on a whim and am obsessed with it. Less "raspberry ice cream dripping down your arm" and more "fresh, tart raspberry being crushed between your fingers, juice staining your fingers red before you wipe it onto your white cotton sundress". It's beautiful. Love her where she's at, instead of wishing she were something else, and you might be impressed. However, If you want more of that ice cream vibe, layer it with Phlur Heavy Cream or Ellis Brooklyn Marshmallows. You'll still get that burst of freshness but it'll add the creamy vanilla dry down the marketing promised. Performance is decent for Jo Malone, and I can still smell it on myself at least five hours later.

Well! Someone said this was just a reformulated version of Redcurrant & Cream... they are correct. This does smell amazing, but if you have one you don’t need the other. They’re super similar. Redcurrant & Cream is more creamy and a bit more jammy. Raspberry Ripple is very juicy sweet berries but lacks a bit of depth. Still amazing though. On my skin they smell identical. On a perfume tester when blind smelling, I can tell them apart since R&C is more edible/creamy and a bit deeper. RR is very light and bright. After smelling the R&C I could almost not smell RR at all. I’d say layering it with something deeper/musky or a vanilla could be really great. Very summer flirty vibes. I’m gonna wear it on a date haha

Do not expect a creamy gourmand! It opens with a fresh tart note! The red currant mixed with raspberry is fresh , vibrant and bright! There is also strawberry that is not listed in the notes here, that settles into a hint of a sweet sorbet like treat! The white musk base gives it an airy texture , it settles on the skin after the superficial shot of tart fruity tanginess! Like all colognes longevity is fleeting, 4 - 4.5 hours. Great for hot weather! Layer this with Wood Sage and Sea Salt for the ultimate summer scent! A conceptual scent that evokes images of childhood at the beach, raspberry sorbet under the sun with the faint hint of sea salt in the air!

Well, I liked it when I tested it in the shop. I sprayed it on my right arm and it actually stayed there for some while (3-4hrs). So I don't know what people are complaining about. I was getting whiffs of fresh, sweet raspberry perfume. To me this is a fresh perfume. It has just the right amount of sweetness and tanginess. There is a little bit of a fresh spritz to it. I think that it is great for spring and summer. So it's not a creamy raspberry, but a fresh watery one. I think that it is cute. Will I buy it? Probably not as I already have a couple of similar perfumes, but I thought that is was pleasant.

I’ll start off by saying that I agree with the majority, this scent does not have longevity. But it smells so f****** good to me. As soon as I sprayed this I thought of Lush. As in it kinda smells like when you pass by a Lush store in the mall, which I know might be a negative for some people. To me that’s exactly what I want in a perfume, ambiguous, delicious, and enticing. It is very fruit forward and quite fresh. It is not sweet or gourmand like the advertising may make you think, so I pair this with vanilla scents for the winter.

Received today - this is one of my favourite Jo Malones for ages. I have been looking for a good, gourmand sweet raspberry for ages and this one smells heavenly. Close skin scent only after an hour, but nobody buys Jo Malone for longevity, right? It's still the only reason I will never give them above 4 stars. In response to the commentor wondering if this was similar to Redcurrant and Cream - it certainly isn't on my skin, I don't get any of the tartness I get from Redcurrants.

To me this is freshly washed sheets that were dried outside near some sweet smelling flowers. It’s pretty clean smelling, I’m guessing the musk, and the fruity notes are a little sweet but together makes sort of a floral sweet rather than an edible fruit sweet. It feels very comforting and nostalgic, but like others have said it doesn’t last very long for the price point. If I can find it on sale I may consider it, but full price for a scent that lasts around 3h isn’t for me.

Jo Malone’s perfumes are soft... I can except that.. this one is not any different and will take a year to truly mature... so I’ll love it more next summer. It starts tart and then I smell some soft musk with a hint of some florals.. maybe iris and/or rose that you get after 30mins after that it’s more of a soft musk vanilla scent.. it’s not a banger and it gives a soft pretty girl aesthetic to me. Very dainty. I’m happy with my purchase and the bottle and that bow!!!!!

The initial stay smells like straight-up raspberry Sourpuss liqueur, but I’m not mad at it. Then it shifts into something akin to a Lush bath bomb, and I’m not mad at that either. The dry down is a creamy dessert that is pleasantly not too sweet, even though I like sweet things. I’m left with an overwhelming memory of picking raspberries in the summer sun in my grandparent’s backyard. Huge fan. Will be purchasing a big bottle.

Gorgeous Summer scent! 🩷🍦🩷 This scent is a perfect everyday summer & holiday scent. This scent is unisex but I feel it has a more feminine appeal. I've been wearing this scent over the last couple of days, it a lovely light fresh not sickly sweet & I've also layered Raspberry Ripple over my Jo Malone Scarlet Poppy & this takes the scent to another level,adds more depth & is great for the evening too 🙂

Jo malone always smells oddly nostalgic for me. This is no different. Opens with one of the best tart raspberry-currant notes I've smelled, and dries down to a clean fruity musk. I actually can smell it on me the next day, but only the musk part. It does layer nicely with the Sage and Sea Salt, but that one does disappear into my skin with the berries on the drydown.

Hear me out, I don't know how exactly but this smells like those luxurious hotel lobbies, or an expensive store at the mall, but give it a girly touch. It's giving Paris Hilton, like a loaded princess.👸💰🩷 Doesn't last long, doesn't project, but it's such a gorgeous scent, like I said luxurious but the berry makes it the ultimate boujee, feminine perfume ✨

Does this fragrance last more than millisecond, no. Does it smell like you just walked into a lush store?? yes. Do I absolutely adore it? also yes!! When I’m in the mood for it, I just tossed it in my purse and spritz throughout the day. It really is quite lovely. And it really reminds me of a lush bath ball - sodium bicarbonate and all.

Just got this in the mail and absolutely love it. It's almost like stepping into a lush store. The raspberry has the tartness to it and then it settles down to a lovely vanilla-y musk. I've never smelled anything quite like it, and that makes me appreciate it even more. Definitely taking this on my summer vacation!!

I absolutely love this scent so much, but it lasts no more than maybe 10 minutes on the skin... its really such a shame!!! For almost 200$ you would absolutely not get what you are paying for, at most this feels like a 80$ fragrance Does anyone have any other perfumes that smell like this but last longer?

It is a tart creamy raspberry on my skin, for an hour or two before it disappears. I like it for what it is, but it is not very dynamic or dimensional on me. I bought the travel and I am unsure I would justify buying a larger bottle due to the lack of longevity. It is simple and nice though.

I quite like it. The opening smells like those tiny hard candies wrapped in neon-colored paper I used to eat as a kid. The berry note is candy-like, but the faint hint of milk adds a smooth, creamy texture. It’s sweet, but not overly so.

Recurrent and raspberry, quite tart in the opening. Creamier and muskier as it settles, but still deliciously fruity. I actually really like this, it’s a perfect lighter fragrance for spring/summer, or just particularly hot days.

Such a fresh beautiful tart raspberry musky scent. I really love this perfume I had to get a second bottle. It’s definitely not a very creamy fragrance though. It is more of a tart musky raspberry. One of my favorites

Fresh, sparkly, fruity fun fragrance. Uncomplicated and easy to wear. Perfect for summer. As with most JM colognes, it is light. However it’s perfect for summer. Lovely.

I have Red Currant and Cream and this is 100% that repackaged with a hint more citrus. It’s sooo beautiful though. I find it intimate but also lingers all day

I'm in love with this scent! Though it doesn't perform well on its own (longevity-wise), I layer it with vaseline and Juice by Commodity.

@Cravet Xenia I used to apply Vaseline on my skin before spraying any Jo Malone or other weak perfumes, and they would last for hours.

I'm 6'4 and this scent smells so good and it lasts so long

Soooo, I gave in and bought a 30ml bottle right at the end of summer. I heard and read all of the criticism, but ignored them in the end. First off - I never expected it to smell like actual raspberry ripple. Everybody that has ever tried more than 1 Jo Malone knows they don’t do gourmands and that the marketing campaign must (sadly) be misleading. I heard people talking about it reminding them of raspberry sorbet though and that had me intrigued. Well, as soon as I got it in the mail I was super excited to finally get my nose on it. Meh. Personally, I don’t get the raspberry note AT ALL. I wanted it to be a fresh raspberry, reminiscent of a sorbet with a hint of tartness of the red currant and lightened up by the musk. On me RR smells like a wanna-be raspberry cheap shower gel for children. I get that it “pretends” to be raspberry, but it’s just not it. The dry down was the most disappointing aspect to me, as it dries down to be very floral on me. Does it remind me of anything else besides shower gel? Actually yes - it’s in the same vein as Sunset Hour by G&B just without the sharp pencil shaving note that I get from that perfume. Now on a positive note - layering 2 scents that I find “meh”: Raspberry Ripple & Heavy Cream (Phlur) actually smells ok! As far as lasting power it’s just like any other JM - 2 hours max. I think many if not most of us that don’t enjoy RR too much fell for the marketing/ influencers. Some had the expectation for it to be like raspberry ripple as the name suggests, I wanted it to be like sorbet. What we got was something completely different. If they had called it “Raspberry Garden” and made promotional videos of a girl picking raspberries in a lush British garden full of flowers, currants and raspberries I think the customer response would have been drastically different - in a positive way. EDIT: I discovered an amazing layering combo - Heavy Cream (Phlur), Super Milk (Lush - the glitter spray, NOT the body mist) and Raspberry Ripple! Somehow makes it smell more like a photorealistic raspberry.

I still remember when Raspberry Ripple first launched, it was everywhere. 🍦🍓 Jo Malone had dedicated pop-ups for it, people were reviewing it, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on a bottle. It sat on my wishlist for the longest time. By the time I finally made it to a Jo Malone boutique, though, it was already gone. That's when I realized just how quickly limited editions disappear. I eventually found a second-hand bottle from someone who had originally bought it at Sephora. When I first got into fragrances, I knew Jo Malone was a huge name, but I never paid much attention to the brand. Partly because of the price, but also because most of the scents felt a little too mature and sophisticated for my taste at the time. Then Raspberry Ripple came out... and the combination of raspberry ice cream with the adorable packaging completely won me over. I just had to have it. I was used to sweeter, more straightforward gourmands. This was probably the first perfume that showed me a gourmand-inspired scent could still feel elegant, refined, and understated. I get icy raspberry, soft musk, and a subtle spicy touch from the red currant. It really does give the impression of frozen raspberries. That said, if you're expecting a creamy, milky, lactonic raspberry ice cream, this probably isn't what you're looking for. It's much icier and fresher. More like raspberry sorbet or frozen raspberry ice than a scoop of ice cream. Even so, I'm incredibly happy to have this in my collection. 🤍 It feels special knowing I managed to get a bottle before it disappeared completely. It's also the most luxurious fragrance I've ever bought with my own money as a young adult, which makes it even more meaningful to me.

She won me over. This one was not love at first spray; in fact, it was a nose-scruncher when I first smelled the test strip. I’d most closely compare it to a sour laundry smell on the strip, when I took my first whiff I immediately thought about returning it. But as for all fragrances, I like to give them a fair chance with a skin test, and in this case, I’m so happy that I did. This dries down beautifully on my skin and smells as advertised. The musk lends itself to the ice cream idea (I know many would not agree), the raspberry is juicy and tart, and it’s not too sweet thanks to the red currant. For people wanting more lactonic creamy notes, I’d recommend layering on top of Dedcool’s Xtra Milk, or if you want a warmer/vanilla vibe, on top of Only Human by NOYZ. Both are combos that I plan on trying and that I think would go very, very well with this fragrance. This fragrance is perfect for summer, fun and fruity without being overly floral. Unfortunately it is indeed a fast fader, and you lose some of the more interesting tart, sour notes (I swear there’s a citrus note, bergamot?) and it fades down more sweet and creamy. For me, Raspberry Ripple has an interesting, tart fruity opening and a beautiful, wearable creamy raspberry finish :) would just have to bring it along in my purse every time I wear it to reapply, which IS a drawback. Docking half a point for that and another half point for the price, so overall, she’s a 7/10

On my wife, this smells like a nice almost floral scent that later turned fruity! We both talked about how it smelled almost like rockets/Smarties on first spray from how tart it was lol. Not sweet at all though. I get why some people were saying it smells like a Lush store- at first it does I assume from the red currant since they like to put that in things there, but that part doesn't really last longer than a few minutes. On me, it smells like clean dryer sheets(reminded me of Gain). I'm guessing that's the musk. Overall it just smells nice and clean, easy to wear if you'd like to smell like fresh laundry. Definitely a body chemistry thing. I saw other people saying they had to spray a lot to smell it at all- which feels strange to me, since one spray went a long way on me and my wife. Maybe we just have very sensitive noses or its projecting different or something lol.

This doesn’t smell like what I was expecting, but I love it waaaaay more than what I thought it would be based on the ads! The ads were giving creamy rasberry ice cream—super sweet creamy vibes with ribbons of jammy rasberry. I wasn’t even going to try it because of that—I’m just so over cavity-induced the dessert of it all! But this—this is a fresh, soft, sweet, cozy blanket! It makes me want to snuggle and wrap up in it. It does what Missing Person did to me the first time I smelled it. The rasberry is only faintly there and it’s not like a tart, summer rasberry, which warmed me up to it as a potential year round frag to consider adding to my collection. I really like this a lot!

I am unsure whether I will buy this one (probably in a travel-size if I do), but it's fun! I get a lot of floral over top, but there's a nice raspberry acidity underneath. The raspberry mostly disappeared/blended after a little wear. Not a super edible scent, contrary to what you'd expect from the name/marketing. My biggest qualm is that it's not very complex for the price, although it does last okay. It's the kind of perfume you'd expect on a lively woman in her middle age. It doesn't have the effortlessly classic quality I usually like from JM, and too expensive, but could be fun for the spring/summer. I definitely liked it.

This smells like childhood to me. We had both redcurrant and raspberry bushes in our backyard growing up—this reminds me of sitting in the yard on a summer afternoon, eating red raspberry flavored frozen custard while my dog sits at my feet hoping I’ll drop some. It’s a little too fruity/sweet to suit me but it does smell nice and sniffing it really does transport me for a second. That being said, performance is pretty poor; projection is weak and it only lasts a couple hours. This is one I’ll hang onto for days when I’m just trying to grasp a memory ♥️

The presentation alone makes you want to love what's inside.🎀 Opening with red currant, this cologne immediately hits you with a realistic, tart raspberry that's refreshingly acidic rather than cloying. Don't expect ice cream nostalgia here—this is pure, unadulterated berry tartness. The middle raspberry note maintains that tangy authenticity, while white musk provides a clean, soft foundation. Longevity clocks in at barely three hours on my skin, which feels almost insulting at this price point. It's hard to justify the luxury price tag.

Mostly raspberry & musk, I don’t get a lot of sweetness. I like that about it though :-) it’s a shame about the longevity—I know it’s meant for layering, but I’m not really familiar with any of that... I can’t wrap my head around how adding a stronger base would help it last longer LOL well clearly it’s something I ought to experiment with using the rest of my sample. :P Update: even with a longer lasting base, longevity is still very poor. I only get faint traces of it now 4 hours after application.

I love this fragrance. I tried without much thought at the airport and it smells like tart fresh raspberry. Like the taste of a real raspberry with a musk base. So nice and kind of sour but in the best way possible. I’m not sure why it was advertised as an icecream berry kind of frangrance. It’s definitely a a juicy fresh rasberry. Love this for summer and I love that it’s different to the generic sweet floral fragrances.

She's cute! But does not feel like a JM fragrance at all. Fluffy and cozy and reminds me a bit of Snow Fairy from lush but less strong and drys down to a sugary Raspberry.. a bit similar to Rose Era or Nest Lychee Rose in dry down.. to similar to other scents I have to justify a full bottle, but still pretty! I think this could be used year round but have not tested in the heat.

I really like this perfume. I've had it for a few months now and find myself reaching for it often. It smells like a tart, juicy raspberry, almost a bit citrusy and sour like a lemon. I can completely understand how Raspberry Ripple could be polarizing if one was expecting a sweet, fluffy or vanilla raspberry, because that is not what this is, though I still really enjoy it.

Pleasantly surprised by this one! It's a super refreshing, photorealistic raspberry sorbet. Of course, the staying power is not the greatest, however, that can definitely be helped by layering with a strong base. I really enjoyed this — it's a perfect bright ode to more sunny weather. It's the soft, pretty scent that makes you happy when you catch a whiff of it.

Just got today! Smells like walking into Lush. Beautiful and fruity, without being too overpowering. A light bergamot note cuts through the sweetness, mixing with the white musk, giving it a delicious depth. 100% reminiscent of Raspberry Ripple ice cream!! I'm not one for fruity fragrances, but this might be the one to sway me 💖

This really reminds me of Redcurrant & Cream, very pretty - fruity and tart (not that raspberry for me, more like a nondescript red fruits and berries vibe) and as usual with Jo Malones not cloyingly sweet. If you are looking for a girly and sophisticated fruity berry forward fragrance, this will tick your boxes.

I know I’m the odd one out, but I actually do smell raspberry ice cream. It does dry down rather fast into a skin musk, but that first spray I was pleasantly surprised. Maybe all the negativity left me expecting the worst smell possible so I’m just gaslighting myself here, but... I’m standing by it.

This has the same DNA as Wood Sage & Sea Salt (WSSS) when dries down. The opening is a gentle fruity/berry scent, but it didn't stay long. Then the musk hits and stays with you just like WSSS. I am a fan of both, but if you had one, you don't need the other.

It starts as a perfect strawberry - redcurrant creamy ice cream. This lasts for about 30 minutes, then the white musk starts to be more prominent. White musk lasts a little more than 2 hours. This is a perfect summer scent, if you don’t mind reapplying

I sense the tart, and I smell the raspberry. It's a little sweet, too. I like it on first spray, but I'm not sure I'd wear it publicly as a perfume. It smells young and disappears in a hot minute before the musk barely has a chance to present itself.

Not what I expected. It’s fruity but there’s floral in there in the top notes too although not specifically noted. I was expecting something creamy, milky and fruity. It’s not. It’s a fruity floral. Still nice, but I wouldn’t call it gourmand.

smells like raspberry cream hard candy! it's way too sweet to be wearable for me but it's absolutely delicious smelling. my mouth waters thinking of it. very simple linear smell, i wish it was less sugary and had a bit more depth 3

Man... I had high expectations for this perfume because it certainly wasn’t cheap... another overprice perfume due to the brand name instead of good quality. Sad. Smells good tho, but a fart lasts longer than this perfume.

I’ve only sampled it before but I love how simple and tasty it smells. To me it’s like a sweet and kind of lactonic raspberry which is reminiscent of a raspberry ice cream with a hint of musk.
