Red Hibiscus

A beautiful soft warm and sweet scent. It opens up with a sweet hibisikus that for a second reminded me of BKR 540 but just for a few seconds. Its not a dupe at all and doesnt stay that way. Soon the ginger and some spices followed (must have been the cardamon). After about ten minutes a beautiful warm jasmine comes forward reminding me of Jasmine rouge. After it settles down I get a beautiful blended warm sweet cocooing scent. Here it's hard to smell out different notes as the mix is very well blended and goes very well together. Then the incense starts to pop out in a very gentle way and just adds some depth to the overall scent. In the end I'm left with a smooth calming beautiful smell that puts a smile on my face. I don't get a specific vanilla vibe but I'm sure it's there to add to the sweetness. I don't neccecarly get that summer vibe some people have mentioned either.For me this is a all year around smell but will be especially nice in winter and fall in my opinion. And definitely more evening time that day. Sillage not the biggest but since I'm not in to super heavy scents anyway I'm pleased with this. Haven't worn it a whole day yet, so concerning the longevity I'll have to give an update on that later on. On cloths some of the warmth and spiciness losses it power. I'm happy I bought this and I'm excited to keep trying this in different setting. Maybe I'm wrong and it will bloom even more in the spring and summer!? *Update: So the scent lasted about 6 hours on my skin ( which I'm totally ok with) and all day on the cloths. Very happy I got this

I first tried the 2021 version and fell in love. I’m now trying the 2024 version. Unfortunately, I don’t have my old sample to compare, just memories. Creamy smooth floral. Slight bright citrus in the opening which brightens the florals. Warming up on skin, creamy jasmine and ylang ylang projects. The florals are smoothed over with a vanillic base. I can’t ignore a slight spice as well. It’s somewhere between a summery and an autumnal scent, perfect to wear when taking advantage of the last warm days of the year. I can’t ignore the many extra notes listed in this year’s version compared to 2021’s. I don’t think they changed the scent, rather chose to disclose more notes this time. This is why I’m surprised others don’t say it smells very similar to Valentino Voce Viva. That was the top comparison made for the 2021 version. Perhaps the extra notes listed are making people perceive the fragrance differently?

I hate that I love this lol. Obviously because of the price. This hit the mark for everything I was looking for . Something that's has a soft warmness , no leather , not woody and good for the evening . The black cardamon really leads the top notes followed by the orange and then the ginger . The flowers in the mid really make this bloom and are kept very warm from the amber and vanilla . Once it really settles the incense creeps up enough to add that extra depth . I really don't get that much hibiscus though. But I absolutely love this . The sillage is pretty good . The first hour it's a solid 4 to 5 feet. At about 3 hours you're still filling up a car with scent . It didn't get into where I had to bury my nose into my arm to smell it until hour 5 . I originally wanted to purchase another scent from Jo Malone, but the SA showed me this one, and I completely fell in love. At first I was hesitant because of the price, but Red Hibiscus really stands out from other colognes; after smelling this one, the rest of the collection seemed 'meh' in comparison. It's rich, juicy, complex but not convoluted and it evolves nicely – a very pleasant journey from opening to dry down. UPDATE: I thought that with this being an 'intense' cologne, performance would be better than the regular JM line. Unfortunately, longevity is rather poor. On me, it lasts for about 3-4 hours and I need to reapply. Such a shame for its hefty price point!

Red hibiscus is the most amazing divine vanilla floral creation from Jo Malone. Bummer that it’s not a very hyped fragrance and not a lot of people know about this, but this is absolutely stunning. The longevity is really really good on this fragrance. I got a tester bottle of it from my previous purchase and I ran through the tester bottle so quick because I absolutely adore this fragrance. This is one of my signature fragrances, whenever I wear this, I get lot of compliments. The projection is good. Longitivty is really good and so happy that this house came up with a vanilla fragrance, which is one of my top favourite notes.

One of the few fragrances that instantly put a smile on my face the moment I tested it (along with English Pear & Freesia, also by Jo Malone). I couldn’t stop smelling my wrist for hours and eventually went back to buy it. Florals usually lean either too sour or too sweet on my skin, but this one strikes the perfect balance. It feels idyllic, combining a dark, sensual depth with a touch of playful innocence. The performance on my skin is just right; it projects enough to be noticed without ever becoming overwhelming, making it perfect for indoor or office wear. I haven't tried layering it yet but I sense it has potential.

OBSESSED !!!!!!! Incredible vibrant realistic floral over a creamy cool base. Sweet but not gourmand. Fell in love with it immediately when sampling all of the intense line and came back a month later to spend the 200 euros on it because it was all I could think about. I've smelled a million different florals but nothing quite like this. Definitely more of a spring or summer scent but I could imagine wearing this year-round because of the vanilla and amber notes. Sillage isn't super strong but I'm not mad. Dries down deliciously. Love love love and will definitely become a signature fragrance of mine.

Red Hibiscus smells like a powerful woman. Its opening is very balanced, and you can distinctly sense ginger, orange, and cardamom. A few minutes after spraying, the white florals -especially ylang-ylang- jasmine and vanilla start to reveal themselves. The use of vanilla is very different from the classic sweet vanilla perfumes. it’s warm, deep, and mature. This fragrance feels like throwing myself onto a bed of red satin. It’s the scent of a strong, self-assured woman—young yet sophisticated

Another banger from Jo Malone. I love that this one is super versatile, it's great on its own, but even better when layered with a simple vanilla fragrance. My husband and I both use this perfume, my only critique is it seems to last longer on his skin than it does on mine. Probably just my skin chemistry. I smell lots of non-overpowering florals mixed with amber and incense. I don't smell the cardamom or ginger. Kind of subtle citrus. Overall it's a win for me!

Stunning, elegant and interesting. Not like anything else I have, I wear at all times of year particularly in the evening. I’m so sad that the performance is so poor on me, I love this fragrance but I use sparingly now as I’m not sure I’ll be able to justify the price of another bottle considering how weak I find it. Signature scent worthy otherwise :( Deep, addictive and ever so slightly tropical

I love the opening, but drydowm reminds me of something I loved from the 90s, I can't find what it is, if anyone knows what it is, please write. By the way, it's really like two separate perfumes. The opening is a stunning and elegant perfume with floral and fruity sweetness. But the finish is very fresh, soapy and airy. I think it is one of Jo Malone's most worth buying perfumes.

I haven’t found a Jo Malone that I was a huge fan of. This one made me look at the bottle like hmmm this is good! But I believe because it smells just like one of my favorites (Prada paradox) or even a Victor Rolf Good Fortune quality ...it has that same fruity, deep sweetness. I’m a fan but I won’t be upgrading to the full size because it feels redundant to own

I love the tropical feel ! The floral notes mix with mandarin, ginger and vanilla, just the right amount of sweetness and freshness. Feminine, casual, elegance. It stayed on my skin about 5.5 hours, which I was pleasantly surprised by.

Deep and warm, my only complaint is that it doesn't last very long. It's a uniquely mature scent that still invites you to remember more floral times. Incense base note makes it feel very sanctified.

I tested it on several occasions before I bought my bottle, as I was hesitating whether it would be too feminine for me to wear. Although eventually I consider it a more feminine fragrance, I cannot resist it, especially the drydown on my skin, so I ordered one bottle. It opens with citrus for only a few seconds, fresh and juicy. Then jasmine immediately comes forward, and I also smell tuberose, but both are not overpowering. At this stage, the perfume smells floral and sweet, but not indolic at all. I would describe it as sexy but not seductive. Normally white flower notes give me headache, but I guess the sweetness here helps, it balances the indole. The perfume develops faster on my skin than on paper. After half an hour, it gets warm, milky and creamy, very delicious. Jasmine is still detectable, but no longer as dominant as before. I feel like I am sipping jasmine tea next to a delicious cake. It somehow reminds me of Ginger Biscuit, but much less buttery and spicy. I find the drydown also quite similar to For Him Red Edition, sweet, warm and delicious. On my skin it lasts less than 6 hours, which is somewhat disappointing considering its price. I consider it a lovely perfume for autumn.

First impressions: (travel spray on paper) I’m excited for this one. I’m a lover of hibiscus like in Maui hibiscus shampoo and conditioner smell, and been on the hunt for such a smell but longer and stronger. Unfortunately, a lot of hibiscus smelling perfumes either dissipate, side line hibiscus with leather, pomegranate, or rose. For now this one smells better than the others I’ve sampled on paper today. I have high hopes for this one. Edit 1: I swear I feel like I’ve smelled this perfume DNA before, signature by montale? Hold on... It smells like Cinéma Yves Saint Laurent or a possible dupe: Zuraique by Ahmed Al Maghribi. Yeah it’s definitely that same vein. Edit 2: I’m thinking it’s a no for me, the perfumes reminds me of other perfumes.

This is such an elegant and interesting perfume. A little on the mature boss lady side. For the first hour or so the hibiscus is very prominent, after that I get a few hours of poppyseed and then it settles into a lovely warm woody vanilla with just traces of the hibiscus lingering. It is perfect for a summer evening, or even the office, as I can’t see this being in any way offensive. For a Jo Malone the lasting power is ok. I can see the comparison to l‘interdit, but this is way more refined and elegantly done.

I love hibiscus tea so I was very excited when I got a sample of this. It starts off like sweet mandarin and then the hibiscus and other florals come through. The vanilla at the base adds sweetness and a feminine touch. Lasted about 5 hours. I only had a small sample so I didn’t spray heavily but projection seemed to be moderate. I don’t see this being a beast even if you overspray. Overall very pretty scent. Not sure I need a full bottle but if I found a good deal on it I’d probably pick it up.

Red Hibiscus by Jo Malone is a zingy bouquet of white and yellow florals. I pick up on the brightness from the ginger in the opening and creamy ylang ylang in the mid which gives off a tropical vibe. It is feminine and juicy. I like this a lot and I’m surprised that no one has said it reminds them of Jasmin Rouge by Tom Ford.

For an expensive fragrance i’m not wowed after a year of owning it. I’ve worn it a handful of times and i find it’s very weak. I like it but i don’t love it and i’m not a massive fan of Jo Malones fragrance as a rule and for me this was the best of the bunch. I think they are way over hyped for the price point.

I really want to love this because I want to try another hibiscus inspired perfume. I just do not find this scent unique enough. It’s definitely feminine - sweet, playful, but I am getting red berries and cherries. It’s a syrupy decadence I sometimes cannot stand on myself but really enjoy on others.

The ginger in here is so well blended. It doesn't become obvious until about an hour in. I kept wondering what was "sparkling" for my nose after experiencing an hour of heady and impressive floral. I really like this one but the ginger makes it a winter for me.

It’s basically two different perfumes. The top notes are sweet and floral, almost gourmand. The dry down is just anmber and vanilla. There’s no through note. Honestly I preferred the top notes, which don’t last long enough to make it worth the extra price.

Smelled more floral in the store but became more incense and vanilla heavy on the skin. Could just be me though. Definitely a pleasant fragrance but I can only see myself wearing it in the fall and winter.

It's missing something... I wanted this to be a softer, less animalic Hibiscus Mahajád, and it is, but it's also not as pretty. It might be sexy but it also fades so quickly that I can't even really tell... I really like Red Roses and Nectarine Blossom from this designer, this definitely performs much weaker than both. I have a mini bottle so I will keep wear testing

I wish the hibiscus came through more with this, its a bit of a disappointment. I loved this on the blotter but on skin/clothes it fades quickly to an ambery spicy scent that is gone within an hour or so. Disappointing!

The scent is lovely, the hibiscus is prominent on my skin, although the fragrance is extremely weak. I have to put nose to skin to smell it for the first 2 hrs then it disappears. Very disappointing.

Smells “good” in the most basic way to me. I get some jamaica agua fresca but mainly it’s just a generic sweet amber that you could probably find a dupe of at bath & body works.

I looooooove hibiscus and this fragrance doesn’t really deliver a strong hibiscus note to me. It’s more powdery and vanillic than I was hoping.

At least, if I could say something. I would say this is lovely and easy to enjoy fragrance, to the new comer of Florental. I know, “Florental” keep coming back in my review. It is the combination between floral heart and vanilla powdery amber base. Lust, Rich and Charmful. In the era of anything overly gourmand, food and tasty. “Florental” still stand as one strong pillar of woman fragrance. Jo Malone Red Hibiscus, do provides us complete package of how proper Florental structure-wise and I could buy just that...reason alone. But I means, you could also buy few other option in the market. If you looking for perfectly safe florental, you could buy one. And this shift from previous Jo Malone structure. From 2 layers to 3 layers, more like a proper fragrance. I don’t feel older Jo Malone DNA (last true to brand would be around 2021..) in this anymore.. if it any.. they would try make more naturalistic Hibiscus, soften everything, harmonize the pyramids a bit more..

Nothing special it’s basic, I would classify it as a fresh laundry that is all. Longevity and sillage are disappointing . 3/10

a magical and juicy mysterious red jungle flower with dark berries. My eyes opened wide at first spray on this one, loved it instantly. I was going to buy immediately - I almost never do that. I'm glad I let it sit for an hour or so before deciding, because unfortunately it doesn't maintain it's mysterious flower or dark jungle fruit profile. Reminds me of one of the old school 90s-2000s bath oil squidgy pearl melts from Sephora, does anyone remember those? They each had different names and colours. The opening of this smells exactly like one I used to buy, I think it was called passion and it was a red colour juicy looking ball. However it reacts badly to the proteins in my hair, and causes the fragrance to turn cheap and indistinct - like a teenager perfume from boots, made worse by being left in the sun on a stale windowsill. I've noticed this (very rarely) happens with some more natural based perfumes or that have high water content. But if you spray it on clothing it remains lovely. Unfortunately it just doesn't last long. The full dry down happens in about 2 hours and no longer maintains the wow factor. Fades to an echo of what it was, coming closer to a skin scent, and turning a little cheap. If anyone can recommend a perfume that smells like opening of this, I would be forever grateful!

LOVE LOVE LOVE. Florals aren’t my favorite, but this one is worth purchasing if you want one that doesn’t give you a headache. It’s youthful and sweet. It’s by far my favorite out of the blossoms collection. Well actually it’s just my favorite Jo Malone. (Second place going to Beach Blossom). I noticed the blossoms also seem to last much longer. Took me a while to pull the trigger due to the price, but I love it so much that it was worth finally buying when I ran out of my mini (rather quickly, I might add). I’m a little confused by the comments on the dry-down. Maybe it’s because I’m always wearing it on vacation, in hot weather. I get the same sweet floral all day long that I did when I first sprayed it.

This is heavenly! I would say it's a mish mash of Hugo Boss Deep Red and Hugo Boss Intense for those who remember that gem of a perfume for women. I can understand the comments that allude to a late 90s/00s vibe but that doesn't mean it's bad at all. I personally would not consider this a tropical scent even with hibiscus in the name and highlighted in the notes. I think this is better suited for cooler climates/weather. The sample I have absolutely blooms on a cashmere sweater. It's sexy, clean, the sillage is fantastic!

I hate to be influenced by the bottle but I'll defend myself by saying the whole line is this deep dark red; the scent is a deep red that really matches the color of the bottle lmao, but maybe even just a tad darker. It's a bit too dark for me, I didn't detect the citrus, yellow floral, or mandarin top note that really would have made this fragrance go from a 7.5 to a 10 for me but I'd love to smell this again on skin as I was honestly a bit nose blind by the time I got to this.

It's giving expensive sunscreen but in a very subtle, non-screechy way. I'm usually not a fan of sunscreen-y fragrances, but this is something I would be okay with wearing, though probably not something I'd buy for myself. Update: I was reading through the other reviews and realized I was the only person who got "sunscreen" from this, so I think I might need to go back to the store and smell this one again—maybe the tester was off?

Being something of a Jo Malone hater I was expecting this to be thoroughly derivative and smelling like unidentifiable room spray. It tuned out to be a pleasant surprise and I’m happy to be proven wrong. There is a an unexpected tea-like background to the scent. After a full day I still catch whips of a floral herbal tea from my bag. It changed my view of Jo Malone.
