Redcurrant & Cream

A sweet, soft, airy breath of a fragrance. What you see is what you get - Of the berriest listed, raspberry seems to be the most dominant, red currant & then strawberry. They are not overly sugared - but instead, more on the sour side! And while this fragrance is sheer and delicate, it holds it's own in being marked in my book as musky; Musky and warm! Like a berry-scented candle of sorts. The 'cream' comes around in the end, nothing overly gourmand or vanillic, just an additional layer of silk that tones down the tartness of the opening. Really divine for warm weather, very carefree while still being somewhat sophisticated for a fruity-berry-scent. This does not inspire imaginative scenes in my head, it is not overly complex - but it is extremely enjoyable and pleasant, and a real guilty pleasure! I need to stop myself from wearing this every day... Especially to work, because I find it demure and understated, while still being beautiful! Longevity: Short. Around 4ish hours, and then you're reallllllllly searching to smell the scent on your skin. Sillage: Soft - more than a skinscent, but not much. As with most Jo Malone scents, this one is especially great for layering because of it's simplicity. I love layering it with a simple vanilla, or a sweet floral for something different.

This fragrance is just lovely! It smells exactly like a redcurrant cupcake.very fruity, but not sickly sweet. The sourness of the redcurrant balances it out very nicely. Finally a spring/summer scent without any citrus in it. Even though it is a fruity scent it is very natural like most of the Jo Malone scents and zero synthetic. Also it is a very light and pleasant scent and it doesn't give you a headache. Love :)

Sweet yet sharp red berries with a very slight creamy/musky undertone - lasting power is quite good and this is divine layered over a creamy vanilla.

Red Currant & Cream opens with some sort of juice... juice... juice... RED CURRANT! Red Currant & Cream is the perfect example of currant in a fragrance. Red or black, it is unmistakably CURRANT. I did not notice the prominence of the currant on paper, or in the store. It was not until I brought Red Currant & Cream home and tried it on, that currant sprang at my face like a pop-up book. Once it calms down on my skin, I begin to be able to detect elements of the other berry notes, but the bitter, almost boozy red currant continues to make its presence felt, loud and clear. I used a ton of red and black currants when I worked in a kitchen making frozen sorbet and other desserts. I became acquainted with it as an ingredient then.. However, the first time I recognized currants as a note in perfumery, was when I tried Enchanted Forest by Vagabond Prince, which is an homage to the entire forest but especially to the black currant. As soon as Red Currant & Cream resonated in my mind, I was brought right back not to the kitchen, but to my first experience of Enchanted Forest. It seems to me that red currant and black currant smell very similar if not identical to one another in perfumery, but VERY DIFFERENT from other berry notes. Whereas strawberry and raspberry can often be used interchangably (especially because they are so often synthetic-smelling in fragrance), a very bold currant note could not be substituted for anything else. There is an outstanding bitterness along with the sweetness. I would describe most berries as sweet and sour, compared to the currant, which is sweet and BITTER, sometimes so much so that it goes the direction of woody/ fermented and starts to turn into berry wine. Don't let that discourage you from trying Red Currant & Cream. If you aren't sure if you know what the Red Currant note is, Jo Malone provides you with the perfect example of an almost isolated currant in this fragrance. The other berries fall to the way-side here, and the musk in the dry down develops a nice cushion for the currant to float on until it dissipates, but is nowhere near CREAM to me. I don't really mind that though. The projection is good and a little goes a long way, so I am careful not to over-spray with this one. I would not want to be announcing, CURRANTS! GET YOUR CURRANTS HERE! to an entire movie theater. Longevity is average for JM, meaning unless you douse yourself or spray your clothing, it won't stick around all day. Another successfully simple and articulate scent from Jo Malone. I imagine this layering very well with something more rich, creamy and gourmand.

I had high hopes for this fragrance, it remained on my "to test" list for a long time. I finally received a sample of it, and it was delicious. It smells just as the name, red currants and cream. Silage is very weak, but that's ok. Sometimes you need a fragrance that only you can smell or your snuggle buddy. Unfortunately, this scent does not last. At all. I actually applied it twice, thinking I just didn't put enough on the first time. But, both applications lasted less than an hour, and not just to my nose, as my 12 year old sniffer checked for me as well. It's really too bad, as this would have been a great spring fragrance for me. For a discontinued fragrance, prices aren't bad on the secondary market, but not worth if it body mists last longer. This is the first fragrance to ever disappear so quickly on me. Prior to that, Gucci Premier held the record. :(

this reminds me of my recent trip to london march 2013 i kept smelling it at Harrods ..it was my 8 year old son who said mom smell this its so you ..i love red currants something about this perfume is so serene so sweet yet crisp not cloying or headache inducing its a perfect berry currant juicy creamy tart clean and crisp is so alive so refreshing its almost magical from alice in wonderland ..its a young perfume..young at hear.. not complex.. simple yet beautiful ..has a pretty soul ..a light mesmerising dewy clowd of currants..i love i its a limited editin and comes only in 30 ml

The name says it all, redcurrant and cream is precisely what this is. It opens up a tad bit tart/sour with a blast of fresh and definitely not over-ripe redcurrants and raspberries, but it only takes a few seconds for it to settle down and for the cream part to come forth. It dries down to a sweet musky but simultaniously bright berry. Very pleasant indeed. All in all I really do enjoy this fragrance and I can imagine it layering well with something like Hanae Mori. That could be a killer combination that I must remember to try out!

Picked this up from the Jo Malone Archive Collection. I usually like sweet/ gourmand type smells and in truth I enjoy this one okay. It literately has 0 sillage or lasting power. Spray and it's gone. The scent itself is very berry with a bit of an artificial flavour to it and some light lactonic undertones from the cream. Someone here described it as a bowl of berries floating in milk and that seems about right, with a touch of something alcoholic/ artificial.

looks like this one doesnt work out with my skin chemistry, and its actually the first perfume ever im experiencing this with... i smell all those berries but then there is this terrible sweaty/stinky smell... when i sprayed all of the scents around my arms, this one was the only one i could smell.... and all i could smell was as if someome was sitting right next to me with terribly stinky armpits. ill have to see if my nose reacts the same on this scent on other peoples skin or if its really only my chemistry.. :/ Edit: nope looks like its not my chemistries fault. On my husband it smells the same, and he (before i even said anything) asked me what that horrible smell was... So he smells it to, on me and on himself, some terrible, synthetic stench :( bummer

Unfortunately I could not get behind this one. I was hoping I could turn to Jo Malone to give me the 'grownup' version of the berry smell I so pined after as a tween. Unfortunately this still read tween body spray to me. Immediately I was like, OK, Victoria Secret Body Spray vibes, and then saw people had compared it to a VS spray I am not familiar with. YEP. It smells like the girl in school who goes into the bathroom between classes and spritzes herself up and down. She's 15, but has a LV bag, and you're like, "ma'am, this is gym class."

It's too berryish for me. Maybe it's the tartness, but it just smelled bad on me.

I can't believe I got lucky enough to find this online for 40€, taking into account that on eBay it's reaching 350€. Just picked it up after a year on my wishlist so I'm going to narrate my experience on live time. First off it's very Jo Malone photorealistic, I can smell the redcurrant with their skin and seeds and leaves and some branches if I'm honest. It has that wild countryside DNA that is so characteristic of Jo Malone for me (reminds me of Blackberry and Bay in this sense). I can smell no cream at all, but then again it's on the name but not on the notes. I think that right as you spray it it's basically redcurrant juice, no sugar no sweeteners no nothing else, redcurrants on a blender. I love it though. It smells so English countryside, all lush and wet after the rain, which I don't have the luck to have access to in real life. I will edit with updates! 15 minutes in: It's true that this disappears pretty quickly but right now it's in a perfect spot, all the wildness and green notes have calmed down and it's starting to become creamy, really really delicious. I'm in a cafeteria (it's 1:30pm so all the sweets are already gone) and it smells like they had some of those raspberry and yogurt muffins on display. It's so beautiful in this moment that I'm already thinking of what could I layer it with so it lasted longer and became more intense. Anyway I only did one spritz on my wrist, but that's usually how I test all perfumes. I can't stop smelling my wrist, for me it's definitely raspberry yogurt muffin, the ones with the creamy white filling and the berry chunks. Absolutely LOVE IT.

Very nice perfume, the red currant note is realistic, crisp. Overall such a unique and fresh scent. I like Jo Malone, she uses high quality ingredients.This is a gift, so maybe not something I would have thought of for myself, I detect some spiciness, and the drydown is soft and sweet. A very pleasant scent for summer!

I like this line of perfumes but its like chasing a buttery thats allready out the door trying to get the notes to simmer and give any longevity. For 20 mins of faint airy scent its never worth it for me.
