Rose & White Musk Absolu

This is my signature. If you love rose, this is the fullest, most complete, most wearable rose I’ve ever smelled. It’s rich and delicious, and I literally crave it when I’m not wearing it. It’s like an olfactory window to my soul. I don’t typically like musky fragrances, but in this case, the musk is just doing its job—supporting the rose and helping it bloom. It stays soft, feminine, and grounded. Longevity is excellent. Sillage is moderate—enough to be noticed if someone’s close, but not overwhelming. I can dress it up or down. It wears beautifully in every season. If you’re looking for the perfect rose signature, look no further! However, if you didn’t like Red Roses, you might not love this either—it has the same rose DNA, just without the lemon top and with real lasting power

One of the best rose fragrances I've smelled in a long time. The opening is bright and crisp with that fresh rose and musk combination. The dry down takes it to a more complex place with the oud bringing depth and layers to the scent. Not a super complex fragrance but for what it is, it is beautiful. With the oud, the fragrance lasts much longer than any other JM fragrance I've come across. I smelled this along with Jasmine Sambac and my vote was for this one. To me, the musk in here brings some lightness to the fragrance and definitely gives it the lift it was missing in VRO. This is definitely going in my want list. Jomashop coming in hot with those killer deals, as usual!

Hands down the best Jo Malone fragrance out there. Finally, a product from the line that delivers in longevity, projection, and all around well blended quality. Intoxicating rose that never gets cloying and musk that never gets smelly nor animalic. Classy and refined for an elegant and mysterious woman (more on the feminine side for sure) that will be noticed. Weather you like roses or not, this smooth concoction will win you over. Worth a full bottle? Hell, yes! Worth the $300 priice tag? Not sure...

I love this. I get a deep, complex, intoxicating rose. It's a strong and stunning scent that feels very luxurious. Saw a video describing this perfume as the type worn by an "everyone wants to be her or date her" kind of girl, and that's definitely the vibe I get from this perfume. I'll have to wear it more to make up my mind, but I'm already interested in a repurchase!

This is probably one of the best rose oud I’ve smelled. It seems like it is always overlooked in the rose oud lists I don’t know why. This is truly a beautiful perfume, even people who don’t like to smell rose or oud like this scent. I would recommend so anyone.

This is beautiful! It starts with gentle oud and roses and settles to a lovely soft oud/musk with roses in the background. Perfect for dressing up at night.

Ahhh, this is just stunning! Gorgeous blend of rose and Musk and lasts for days!! I've had several Jo Malone perfumes that I ended up selling because they just didn't understand the assignment. Jo Malone understood the assignment with this one. It's not cloying at all, I literally immerse myself in this and don't choke. If you want to turn heads with a sillage a mile long this is the one.

So initially I really liked this. Pros: great projection and lasting power Cons: sharp, chemical note open first spray. The rose does blossom as it wears, but you have to be patient and wait. I like it, but not nearly as much as Delina or Diptyque Eau Rose.

So I wore this back to back with les sables Rose's and I can finally smell the difference. I like this one better because it smells more pure to me. It must be the musk and the lack of saffron and pepper

I've tried it in Florence and loved it so much! Price is too high in my opinion. Performance is good though. Very sexy musky rose with pleasant oud. Such a pity it is not carried by my local JM counter

Smells exactly like the discontinued Valentina Rosa Assoluto. Incense, rose, smoky, oud, great longevity for a Jo Malone.

I loved the rounded feeling of musk and amber when I tested this on the paper. I also liked the initial phase of musky rose. The dry down, however, turned into quite standard rose. Nice rose musk scent but not sure I would buy at this price point. This is based on a one off trial on skin at a shop counter and waited for hours to test.

To sell a fragrance for €230 who’s juice isn’t worth even one hundredth (yes, 1/100th) of that is simply ludicrous. Made worse by the fact that I’d rather pay that price to have a healthy tooth pulled than to wear such a synthetic soup. It’s particularly ironic that JML has named this cologne “absolu” because it has nothing to do with real rose absolute; the fragrance completely lacks all the of the waxy, soft, honey like facets which make the real material unique and near irreplaceable. The horribly nose biting sheer amber chemicals, which attack once the hideous, metallic overdose of rose oxide finally evaporates, suffice only to make the perfume “absolu”ely headache inducing — instead of accentuating the invented oud note (like they do the citrus in Hermes’ citron noir), they distract (and thus annoy) the wearer from paying attention to the cheap, synthetic smelling base. Red Roses is a far better option; and already lasts quite a while by JML standards. For a heavy, earthy, metallic rose, Penhaligons (Duchess Rose, equally expensive) is twenty times better (if still overpriced). The Body Shop’s English Rose at 13€ is a perfect soliflore whose beauty puts JML’s Rose Absolu to shame. I could name about one hundred others; literally every Rose perfume ever manufactured. Regrettable they Jo Malone even bothered launching such a cacophony; just douse yourself in ammonia instead. Far cheaper and equally effective.

This was completely different to how I expected this to smell (like white musk and rose) but I just get Elnett hairspray with no rose. It must be the oud which gives the chemical note. None of the 40+ roses in my garden smell like this. As you can tell, I was left disappointed as the name didn’t match the overall scent.

I tried this at the Jo Malone counter and while the top notes smelled delightful, they quickly dried down to something heavy and woody, which is not what I want from a rose perfume. Unfortunate, but I guess liking this would have been expensive, so I got away lucky.

This one is quite a powerhouse scent, definitely one of their more potent releases. I was expecting something a little different, but this is certainly an oud fragrance. The opening reminded me a bit of their Rose Water & Vanilla fragrance, musky, a little bit sweet, a bit of sticky rose water prepared for desert making. This is short-lived however as it blooms into a big rose and oud fragrance. The musk is definitely there, giving it an edgy animalic feel, to go with the dark rose and oud notes. Is it similar to Velvet Rose & Oud? Well, not really. Obviously they have a similar profile, as two of the predominant notes are the same, but Velvet Rose & Oud is, well, velvety. It has a much softer feeling, more shadowy and comfy than Rose & White Musk Absolu, which has a more dramatic flare.I agree with other reviews, this is a less westernised oud as well. The summer seems like an odd time for this release as it will fair best in the cooler weather and under dark skies. Nicely done, but not hugely exciting to me.

This perfume is badly named - there is precious little musk to my nose. It is a lovely perfume but it is definitely a rose-oud, and not as good the already existing JM velvet rose oud. It is a good rose with a mild, non faecal oud but it is pretty linear and not as good as other options which are available for a fraction of the price. That being said, I decided to add a musk perfume to see what I was missing, so I blended it with Chanel 1957 and now we are talking- deep musky rose with a dark edge. But a very expensive way to get it. Save your pennies! Edit- it is over a year later and this has calmed down a lot. I got a strong oud at the beginning but this settled down quickly. It became much more like rose water, a thin veil of smoke and the musk finally getting a chance to breathe. It is ever so slightly animalic from the oud, but overall it’s a very different perfume now. I much prefer it. It is wearable for day or evening and unisex. I would save it for cooler weather. It has a fairly big sillage.

I bought this fragrance two days ago and find the name to be very misleading - I don't get any rose at all, and very little musk/amber. I've been wearing Jo Malone fragrances for more than a decade, Rose and White Musk, to me, is very "eighties", very heavy and definitely not alluring or a bespoke fragrance. It is more oud than anything else and is very sharp, almost "renk" and offensive. The dry down is just as sharp. The sillage/longevity is great because it is an absolu, however Jo Malone really missed the mark on this one - it's as if they had a huge batch of oud with a close "best by" date so they had to use it all up quickly. There is no balance. Not a spring or summertime fragrance. Probably best worn during the dead of winter. The price doesn't bother me, and I won't be returning it because I think it can be salvaged by layering with Penhaligon's Elisabethan Rose, Jo Malone's Red Roses or any other light floral.

I saw this at Neiman Marcus today so had to give it a spritz. As previous reviewer said, its very sharp and strong on initial spray and it will take 30 min or longer to mellow out a bit. I sprayed it on tester strip so I cant say how it works on the skin but 5 hours later, I could still catch some scent on my strip, if I pressed my nose to it. So lasting power is not bad. I get very strong dark rose scent, its sharp but not medicinal and I think oud gives it that "dark" feeling. I agree that its not a summer scent and I see it as more nighttime /winter fragrance. Once it loses its sharpness, it smells like Stella on steroids but cleaner and sharper. I like Stella so I kind of like this but not enough to buy a bottle. Still I think its a nice scent and kind of a departure for Jo Malone who is not known for strong powerful scents. I still think its far too expensive though

To be honest, I thought it would smell a bit towards simplicity than anything else, but to my surprise, it smells very strong and muffled. With not a lot of rose and white musk to start with, the beginning was a battle between rose and musk, and it seems that musk is the winner after 10 minutes or so as on my skin, it smells like animal urine. I wouldn't say that I have ever liked the smell of musk (organic or synthetic), but in other fragrances of the same category (stuffed and muffled scent), Civet from Zoologists has better musk scent (synthetic) than Rose and White Musk. Overall, I wouldn't say I'm disappointed in this release. The fragrance simply is not for me.

Rose in Ambroxan base but very strong. Absolu line seems to make a complete for weaker Jo Malone manner to enhance the property The rose smell fairy complete but can be easily head age. Kinda reminds me of Stronger Garanat. (Incensy / smoky can it be olibanum?) Stronger than normal jo malone for sure Kinda have cooling amber base similar to YSL Oreintal line. Amber reminds More than word Musk kinda similar hucci song rose

Classy and refined, very nice scent, but there are so many rose-musk perfumes on the market that it's become boring. It's well done, my nose doesn't pick up the synthetic notes that for example Montale Roses musk has. Safe blind buy or a gift to a lady, I can't imagine anyone disliking this.

Oh wow look- i blind smelled this and instantly thought about white musk without ever knowing what white musk was supposed to smell. After smelling it again i definitely get the oud and slight rose. But it’s so pretty! It smells like a female fragrance disguised as a male one -M206

Not sure why but as much as I love the scent profile. Upon initial spray it burns my skin and nose. I ordered this directly from Jo Malone Website so it is not a fake product. Sadly I cannot besr to wear this which is a shame because the concept is lovely.

Nothing senthetic about this one.. Probably best ever by jo malone.. quality blend for a classy mature lady.. oriental masterpiece which I think will become a classic.. Too feminine to be worn by a real man.. .. Ladies go get it..10/10

Musky, spicy roses... Juicy fruitti roses with European style oud, & musk. I guess the fruitti note comes from lichie. These true smells almost identical to "Rose Amira" by Guerlain but WAY overpriced than "Rose Amira". Beautiful.

Don't let "cologne" fool you. Her Colognes last all day and then some on me. They are often stronger than most edps on the market. Atelier does the same thing..they sell Cologne Absolutes and they are as strong as dynamite on me.

It's enchanting. Smells to me like a cross between YSL Mon Paris and Jo Malone's own Taif Rose cologne. Changed my mind about it...it's both sour, cloying and overwheming. Truly an annoying fairly awful smell. Returned it.

This is the best parfum of Jo malone so far.this is not available in Jo outlets in countries like India ,China etc.It has a poor sillage & a slight pocket rip off at the othr end.

Bought a 100ml bottle in 2020. Lovely but not really my thing. Two sprays gone from the bottle. Boxed and up for sale. Message me if interested to discuss.

I absolutely love this scent and this may just be my favorite rose oud combo rivaling oud bouquet. If anyone is selling a bottle or decant let me know!

Everything sounds great except the price... I also wonder about longevity of this cologne. But I will no doubt at least try it.

Just a heads up, be careful where you buy this one from. The majority of these on eBay and Etsy are fakes going for $40-$90.

Frederic Malle - Portrait of a lady is the inspiration obviously. Bit the performance is week compair to that one.

Nice big full rose and musk frag but very similar to Rasasi Musk Hareer released in 2018.
