Taif Rose

This deserves more hype! I have a lot of perfumes but I still thought this was worth purchasing. The rose is pleasantly full bodied, slightly similar to that of Gucci A Song for the Rose or Duchess Rose by Penhaligons but with an endearing oud reminiscent aroma of spice. The spice is from the coffee/amber notes and is intriguing and addictive but doesn't overshadow the femininity and delicateness of the rose. The longevity and projection is great (especially for a Jo Malone fragrance). It is certainly more impactful than mainstay Jo Malone fragrances in terms of strength and sillage (for example Wild Bluebell). It invokes the song Desert Rose by Sting for me which appears to be exactly the type of scent they were aiming to create, based on the description. Dior Rose n Roses fragrance, for comparison, is fresher, cleaner but a lot weaker in both longevity and projection. This is feminine leaning but I would imagine some men may be able to pull it off. I would wear this year-round but I think it suits slightly cooler days.

Tried this at Mecca George Street on skin. What a delight from Jo Malone! Beautiful ‘Turkish Delight’-esque Rose. Coffee note comes through nicely and provides a dark and rich undertone to the aforementioned rose. Just like the others in the Intense range, this is sensual and alluring, yet sophisticated and professional. This would not be out of place in both the bedroom and the office. This shines in the heat but I suspect this will be even more stunning in cooler weather. Beautiful bottle too, wish the brand would do more bottles like this. Sad this doesn’t come in the 100ml size but after spending a few hours with it on skin I returned to Mecca to purchase as it’s just that good. Not like TF Cafe Rose AT ALL, so don’t blind buy if that’s what you’re looking for. Much prefer this over Cafe Rose, IMO. This will be a staple going into Australian Autumn and Winter, and it’s nice to see the brand come out with something a little more distinct.

It’s a really syrupy fruity rose. I’ve heard that real taif rose is more of a citrusy fruity sort of rose. This leans more tart berry. I do like it on its own. I don’t find an obvious coffee note here but there is a duskiness that harkens to coffee to me before I read the notes. So I believe that checks!! To me, I love this the most on top of other harsher rose scents. Right now, I am loving this on top of FM’s rose and cuir. The sweetness contrasts the wine-like rose accord and the harsh leather, complimenting the subtle nuttiness in Rose and Cuir. Also, if you’re a PH fraghead, this smells so good with BATUK by Wren Atelier. The inkiness contrasts with Taif’s floral sweetness and compliments the pulpy, bitter citruses with its sweeter berries.

Picked this up at the Jo Malone shop in downtown DC. Went in just to try their scents, as I’d only ever smelled the pear/freesia one. Taif Rose has only come out in the last couple days. I prefer slightly different, interesting scents (not always crowd pleasers). This one would fit that category. Rose, with a subtle smoky note. This reminds me of By the Fireplace, without smelling like I’ve been sitting next to an actual campfire. It’s very sexy & cozy. Something in the background also reminds me of Givenchy’s Very Irresistible L’Intense - although I wasn’t a big fan of that fragrance. Taif Rose is lovely & will be my daily scent for a while.

I absolutely *love* this perfume. Jo Malone does Roses and florals so well. When I saw this coming out, I knew I needed to try it. It reminds me of a less Smokey Velvet Rose and Oud, and not as heavy. Long lasting too. It’s in line with some of their other intense perfumes. It does not smell like any Delinas (I have them all) but the Rose note is somewhat similar. Layers well with other JM scents too.

I was at Bloomingdales on Christmas Eve I saw this (wasn't even on my radar) and sprayed and fell in love on the spot . To my nose it's jammy , boozy super delicious.I do not think it smells like Tom Ford Cafe Rose . I didn't end up buying it but I sprayed it on myself and kept smelling it all day and couldn't stop thinking about it . Finally yesterday 12/26 I went back and bought it.

Alas, there was hardly anything left in the tester to try on my skin, but I was almost compelled to order it (Nordstrom was sold out) based on the blotter sniff. It was quite lovely and I think I would prefer it to Jo Malone Red Roses, which I own. However, I am a signature scent type of lady, and the fact that this is not a part of the permanent collection put me off.

Beautiful sweet fruity rose with coffee and amber drydown. I'm so happy to have it. Got it as a gift. It's more fruity than one would think, but not Delina sweet. Delina is lighter and fresher. Taif Rose has a richness to it. It's quite long lasting and not the worst projector, especially not for Jo Malone. I'm lucky to have it. I love fruity roses with a twist.

Picked this up at Nordstrom. I think it's exclusive to them? This is a less in your face, less powdery Lipstick Rose. Projects to about arm's length and lasts on me for a solid 6-8 hours. If you're not a fan of the heavy oud in Velvet Rose and Oud, this is similar to that but without the heavy oud and a bit sweeter.

Interesting to see others say this has poor longevity; I purchased for my partner and it lasts for hours with excellent projection. Personally love the multi layered scent of rose, coffee & spice. It’s really interesting to me and grabs my nose, wanting to smell more.

Clear and light rose perked up by sweet amber and lovely coffee. Love the combination after trying on a few times. If only it came in the normal 100ml size the price would be more reasonable. Still, I had to get it to complete my collection.

Deep, dark, deliciously oudy exotic rose. A spicy, ambery, roasted rose. An elegant resting b*tch-faced rose that knows who she is & has no fuqs to give. I am entranced by her. 🥀

This is a sweet Jammy rose. It's perfect for spring and summer. It's not a complicated scent. It lasts longer than most JM fragrances. I believe it's a limited edition.

A lovely rose opening, almost a soliflore for the first few minutes on my skin. As it unfolds the fragrance warms up and the amber comes into play. I don't pick up the coffee note unless I put my nose to my skin, and even then what I get is more the bitterness of coffee than an actual coffee note. It is not in line with Jo Malone's usual light floral scents but does fit well in the "intense" line. I like it and enjoy wearing it.

I can't resist a jammy rose. I was surprised to learn there is a coffee note in this. Personally, I didn't pick up on the coffee note—definitely less coffee than Tom Ford's Café Rose. It’s much lighter and fresher than Rose Jam by Lush. I really enjoy this. The longevity and projection are pretty impressive for a Jo Malone.

Smells like rose flavoured Turkish delight. Strong and projecting. Close to Indult Manakara.

A rose stripped of romance, of cliché, of softness—this is Taif rose in its purest form. Not lush and velvety, not jammy and honeyed, neither airy and powdery, nor fresh and dewy, but something sharper, livelier, super...Taif. A little sweet, but edged with lemony pepper, as well as a metallic shimmer that makes it unmistakably itself. There’s a unique coolness to this rose, a brightness that feels almost untouchable, like light glinting off something smooth and spicy. The coffee accord lurks beneath, but I don't think this is the rich, roasted gourmand touch everyone expected from reading the notes. Not unsurprising, considering what we're looking at—a crowd-pleasing, generally unambitious JM work. The alleged coffee, it leans into something deeper, almost leathery, like the musky, nutty hum of perhaps Ambrofix. A warmth seeps through as well, not cozy, not sweet, but resinous and golden, reminiscent of Cambodian oud—sweet yet smoky. Like amber catching fire at the edges. A true Taif rose, no doubt. But this means it's not the kind to melt into skin, not the kind that drapes itself in silk and whispers sweet nothings. Nothing Valentine's-ey at all. A fiesty floral that stands on its own, vivid and unwavering, neither romantic nor particularly memorable beyond its accuracy. A Taif rose, as it is—sharp, pretty, but slightly removed, refusing to be anything else.

You cannot tell it does not give the Delina La Rosee vibes! You. Just. Cannot! Such a disappointment in terms of creativity. Okay, fine, inventing a new take on a rose note is hard these days, but come on, so close to another perfume? At least de Marly bothered to ensure a beast mode projection, whereas here it sits too close to the skin and vanishes too soon. What makes it somewhat different from Delina is the rose in Malone has more of a Turkish rose vibe. There is a coffee note listed there, which I could not trace at all. I love coffee in perfume, so I usually pick it up quickly, but here it is just not visible. In fact, I think had there been more coffee here, it would have made it much more interesting and unique (as unique as a rose perfume can get in 2025). I cannot say it is inventive or worth purchasing, even though it is undoubtedly a pleasant scent. It's just nothing we have not seen by now. Plus, the bottle is too small! I am not sure price/quantity/performance is reasonable.

- The scent: Opening is a disappointing dupe for "Taif Aoud (Parfum) | Roja Parfums". Also reminds me of "Café Rose (2023) | Tom Ford" and "Rose Épicée | Narciso Rodriguez" a little bit. It's a little creamier (like a skin cream) and smokier version of the traditional rose water. Nothing new, nothing special, nothing exciting. I'd speak about the dry down but....... - Performance: No dry down since it's simply gone in a few minutes. Are they serious with this sillage and longevity? I am used to over-spraying jo malone fragrances and refreshing every hour since they can't seem to get their performance right. But this bad?! For this price point?! It's becoming a joke. I am done with this brand.
