Wild Bluebell

(i apologize if this review is dramatic, i have a history with this perfume lmao) my sophomore year of high school, i had a huge greek mythology phase (which i’m still in) and was determined to smell like the greek god apollo, for some reason (??). knowing he made the hyacinth, i set off in search of a perfume worthy of hyacinthus himself. and when my fourteen-year-old nose found this, i was in love. immediately. i used up my sample so fast it was comical. and then promptly forgot about it flash forward a few years later, i’m walking through the mall display of perfumes with some friends when i literally stopped dead in my tracks. over at the jo malone counter was a bottle of this perfume, and suddenly i was filled with a yearning so intense for this perfume that i immediately walked over and bought it on sight. to me, this smells exactly like hyacinths. like cold, fresh-picked hyacinths that you just grabbed from the window display at the flower shop, with the dew still on them. it’s a chilly spring morning, and the dewdrops run down your fingertips as you clutch the bouquet. i don’t detect any watermelon in this (though i see how you could), but i really think it’s because i was so determined that this perfume should smell like hyacinths that i placebo-effected myself into thinking that it did via sheer willpower. on my skin, it starts out very sharp and green, almost bitter, more like the stem of a flower when you first pick it than an actual flower. after a couple of minutes though, it becomes a very realistic powdery floral scent, but it’s still got that chilled, slightly wet smell to it. the persimmon adds a really great solidity to a fragrance that would otherwise be very very light, the persimmon ties this down wonderfully. this perfume is great for the spring and summer because it’s so fresh and clean smelling! it actually smells cold, you know, like it smells like something that would be cold to the touch. really really refreshing to sniff honestly. i wouldn’t recommend it in the winter at all though if the temperature drops lower than 70 degrees where you live— once it gets chilly outside, the cleanliness of this perfume gives it an almost antiseptic quality. maybe if you’re like, an ethereal snow queen or something you could pull this off in the winter, because this is definitely a cold smelling fragrance. the projection on this is nonexistent. don’t expect to get compliments on it unless someone hugs you tight or if you hold out your wrist for them to sniff. but i find that i can smell it on myself, and it does actually last a good amount of time! i’ve sprayed it on at 6 am and smelled it later at 10 pm when i get into bed. it’s a very very quiet fragrance, but she does hang on for a while. my guess about the people who say it doesn’t is that the light, powdery floral it dries into just mixes too well with their skin. now, to be honest, would i have bought it at the price it is if i didn’t have an extreme emotional attachment to the scent? no. it’s definitely overpriced for the projection you get. but if you can get a sample or a decant, or if you can find it on sale, i’d definitely recommend this! a 4.5/5 for me, a favorite for spring and summer, will forever smell like apollo.

Wild Bluebells is an absolute delight! Different from many, I disagree it’s a linear fragrance, and I’ll try to express why: even though it’s not listed here (it is at JML website though), persimmons play a huge role in this juice, and, if you are not familiar with their smell or taste, I suggest you go to your closest Asian food store and get some. Bluebells don’t have a smell, for saying, so it’s more of a crisp floral accord that first hits you in a beautiful, translucid way. There’s a sweetness there, which becomes more prominent as it dries down. Then the persimmon kicks in! Its full sweetness, fleshy and juicy fruitness invading even your palate. It will stay close to you for some hours until a delicate smokey-fruity veil sooths the composition. It’s quite smooth, delicate and perfect for those who just like a hint of perfume in the morning after shower. In Brazil, since we have the second biggest Japanese community outside the archipelago, “kaki” (the Japanese word for persimmon, which’s also used here) is quite common, specially during autumn, and I’m so grateful for them because this is absolutely my favorite fruit. I associate this cologne with autumn now... :) Wild Bluebells should be named ‘Wild Bluebells and Persimmon’ or something similar, would be much more accurate. It’s simple and subtle, but not linear. It’s not a projection bomb, but will stay lightly on your clothes and hair for a good 6 hours (be moisturized, otherwise your skin will absorve the compounds of the perfume and then you will feel like there’s no longevity). ★★★★☆

This is my current absolute fave — Jo Malone's Wild Bluebell. I've always been a clean girl when it comes to perfume, and this scent just hits all the right notes for me. It has this beautiful cold, watery sensation when sprayed on the skin — perfect for hot or humid weather. It feels refreshing, subtle, and soothing. Almost like a breeze of calm wrapped in petals. The scent immediately reminded me of a limited edition fragrance from China called To Summer – Watery (which I was heartbroken to finish), so imagine how excited I was to find something with a similar vibe in my local Jo Malone store! I'm very picky with perfumes, and although I usually gravitate toward aldehydic fragrances, this one has a delicate "watery" clarity that totally makes up for the lack of aldehydes. People say it smells like what a fairy would wear — and honestly? I agree. It's soft, elegant, and quietly magical. It doesn’t project loudly, nor does it last as long as other Jo Malone colognes, so you might find yourself reapplying it throughout the day. But I kind of enjoy that moment of reapplication — like giving yourself a small happiness boost. If you’re into light, ethereal, clean scents, this one’s for you. 💙

This is the freshest and most fairy-like scent I have ever smelled. Like a new kind of delicate flower that was born yesterday. I have to admit I have never went up and smelled a real bluebell flower before, but I would hope it smells this way. It is exactly that of honeysuckle. I feel like it is the sweetest morning of my life when I wear it. I can taste the garden dew and the crisp air. But be warned. If you go hard on this perfume, you will smell too syrupy and it will start to bother you. Because it is really, really sweet. The top notes are sweet, the base notes are sweet, and the middle notes are overwhelmingly floral. That is why I would recommend using only a little bit and layering with another floral scent to create a personalized garden smell. I have mixed it with other Jo Malone scents like Peony & Blush Suede or Nectarine and Honey Blossom and it smelled incredible. Wild Bluebell is a scent for the girly-girlies and the young at heart. It doesn't smell "childish" but certainly not a "mature" scent. It is the olfactory equivalent of Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies in Walt Disney's Fantasia. If you love florals I would recommend trying a sample of this.

Love this fragrance It's been my signature scent for about 10 years now! The perfect clean girl scent. Soft floral violet notes and fresh clean powdery scent. Only down side to Jo Malone Colognes is they don't last very long at all. I still repurchase this one whenever I'm running low. I also own the hair mist, body lotion the candle in the same scent just cant get enough of it. If you're on the hunt for the exact dupe that smells so similar but don't want to spend as much money go for the new limited edition scent called "Bluebell" from The Body Shop. It's a body mist but similar longevity to Jo Malone as the colognes don't last very long anyway. I've been comparing them both side by side for the last couple days and I literally can't tell the difference they smell identical! If you are crazy like me I bought the whole entire "Bluebell" range from The Body Shop as it's limited edition so get in quick. :)

this is a breathtakingly beautiful floral. it has such a sacred fragility to it that it's hard to treat it casually, such an accurate composition to it that it's clear that it distinguishes itself as a field flower specifically. I'm impressed-- not many perfumes floor me like this with such vivid realism that I get nostalgia wearing them for the first time. spring days spent out hiking, observing and studying flowers for a field botany course. everything down to the dewy and dizzyingly fresh vegetation is done with accuracy and intelligence with an immaculate attention to detail. so elegant, emotional, and refined. anyone who wears this must have a deeply emotional side to them, because it invokes such a sense of sensitivity and grace. I feel as though people of that caliber would have no issue with the under-performing sillage and longevity, either.

A cooling, fresh floral scent with green and aquatic notes – but also a dose of soapiness, which seems to be typical of Jo Malone's perfumes. In the opening, Wild Bluebell reminds me of a walk in a meadow on an early summer morning, when the ground is still damp from the dew and the rising sun peeks through the trees. In the drying phase, the fragrance develops into a rather simple, generic, slightly powdery and soapy floral scent. It’s very pretty but nothing unique or groundbreaking. However, now that the spring is here, I find myself reaching for this scent more and more. This is the perfect choice for days when I just want to smell clean – the embodiment of the "clean-girl" aestethics.

Maybe odd but I sprayed this on when walking past a JM counter at Macy’s this Christmas season. Sprayed twice on my hand and initially enjoyed the pleasant scent. As the days moved along I kept getting whiffs of this airy and comforting concoction. Needless to say I picked up a 30ml and very much enjoying this one. Different to my other white florals but definitely leans feminine. Greener and cotton like take on the notes. Love how it goes more musky/powdery in the dry down. Ive slowly come to enjoy JM over the years - lighter scents but they still pack a quality punch!

Wild Bluebell is a fresh, slightly green, slightly sweet, wet, and a little bit warm floral. Generally, I'm not the biggest floral perfume fan, but find Bluebell very attractive because it truly has that something extra. The clean, slightly spicy cloves & white amber are a beautiful touch to an otherwise clean composition. The florals are very fresh, the muguet and bluebell really bringing that green wild flower meadow affect to the fragrance. The jasmine is not heady or powdery. Very pretty scent, worth the price tag for it's originality.

I do not typically wear florals but was in search of a sad floral. Something that smelled moonlit, like what you might smell walking through the woods at night before encountering fairies. Delicate, wistful, definitely a sad girl floral or a goth girl floral.. there’s a longing to it. I’m really obsessed. It’s actually a bit more of what I was hoping Nosferatu was going to be. The bluebells and greenery are so clear on my skin. It’s exactly what I wanted .

Such a lovely musky fresh floral! The dew drop note is super pronounced, along with a cantaloupe/cucumber melon refreshing note upon first spritz (which I think is where the persimmon and peach notes live). This dries down to a true dewy green floral with some powdery notes. Like all Jo Malone scents, longevity is weak (1-2 hrs) and sits fairly close to the skin, so this is a good option to wear in the office/at work. So excited to wear this in the spring!

If it has a weather it would be 13C rainy early spring morning with heavy fog in a meadow. It does smell like melon, which can be good or bad but it definitely does not smell synthetic. The aquatic and freshness shows through first, then the floral peaks behind it. It's very well balanced- not one or the other. The dry down is very nice too. It's predominantly floral and becomes a nice skin scent after about an hour or two. The only down side is longevity

The perfect epitome of spring morning: fresh, green, airy. It's like taking steps through a freshly watered garden, the feeling of wet grass on your feet. This perfume is a kid's drawing of a perfect day with tall grass and that colored sun in the corner as a scent idk how to describe it more than this 🥹 It just makes me picture lady bugs and watering cans. It also contains a really distinct smell of cherry tomatoes somehow!

You’re sitting on the porch of your gran’s house by the edge of the forest, overlooking a lush meadow. It’s the end of spring and it’s just rained. The air is humid and carries the scent of greenery and petals. You’re wearing a pair of soft cotton pyjamas from your gran’s closet and snacking on watermelon cubes. Green, wet, refreshing. Powdery, but balanced by a fruity juiciness, without being sweet. A true gem.

Beautiful light fresh scent! Reminiscent of watermelon in a way. When I close my eyes and smell this I can transport myself to walking through a British meadow; the sun is rising over the hills and there are dew drops on the bluebells, you’re in a white dress with a picnic basket in hand. It’s gorgeous! If your a royal family fan - Meghan Markle has said on numerous occasions that this is her signature scent!

This is such a classy, elegant, upscale smelling fragrance while being very effortless and simple. It smells like a brisk morning walk in the meadows in late spring or early summer. Dewy, floral and fresh. Pairs perfectly with a flowy light dress. Truly amazing, but very intimate. Projects for 20min tops. I get whiffs of it here and there for about 2h, even with 8 sprays, which is a lot for me.

Lovely is the best word to describe it. It reminds me of spring rain in an English garden--- although not overly earthy. It is sweet but not cloying. Very watery and blue. It started floral and a bit powdery on my skin then about three hours later it was juicy, smooth, and almost warm. I adore this fragrance and contrary to what others have mentioned I have not encountered anything like it.

As someone who lives in a very hot and humid climate, I'm very drawn to fresh aquatic smells and this captivated me immediately. So soft and stunning, I couldn't stop smelling my arm. I feel like a fairy flying around a garden after a soft rain shower. The only issue I have with this is the longevity, but for how much I love the smell I'm willing to put up with it. I need this badly.

I have multiple jo malone fragrances they are usually realistic and less perfume-y. This one opens quite sweet and I definitely get the fruity/melon note lots of people mentioned. The dry down leans quite perfume-y unlike other jo malones. Instead its on the longer lasting side. its a sweet floral fruity fragrance but also feels green. I think it would suit all 4 seasons! like it

The fragrance is captivating and intricate. Like sitting in a flower field in the rain, the sun peeks through the clouds and illuminates the waterdroplets. Fell in love with it head first and bought it. Shame I didn't assess it more. The longevity is a bit disheartening. I understand not everything has to be pungent and loud, but this is just disapointing. Well.. Lesson learned.

A beautiful, watery, soft floral. It really smells like a deep blue, almost indigo flower. Light, fresh, musky, uncomplicated. It takes me to a woman in a cotton dress sitting in a field of flowers. Dew glistening on the grass after an early Spring rain. The ocean in the distance, brushing a salty breeze through her hair. A very pretty green/aquatic for Spring and Summer.

I loved the scent, I usually find some floral scents to be too sweet yet this one is very nice a subtle, I love the scent of melon, a perfect signature scent that could be worn anytime of the year. The scent is a bit weak and the inital alcohol scent can be headache inducing, but as the scent develops on the skin it is so beautiful, one of my favorite scents ever.

This is the first Jo Malone I tried, and I am in love with it! This is such a lovely watery/aquatic, transparent floral. Very calm. This, along with Jardins Sur Le Nil, is my perfect work fragrance. Unfortunately is is very fleeting, lasts maybe 1.5 hours, so my sample vial is already gone after 2 days, but I guess this is very often the case with aquatic scents.

My all-time favourite scent, the balance between the notes is amazing- but let's be real. This stuff DOES NOT LAST!!! It is a very expensive perfume judging by its performance; definitely not worth buying unless you'd like to throw it in your bag and refresh it every 1-2 hours. While mostly a spring scent, I've found it performs better on my skin on rainy days.

i've heard people say that this fragrance was fairy-like and i 100% agree; it's so photorealistic and beautiful.. this makes me feel like i am living inside of a freshly bloomed wild flower in a field covered with dew on a cool spring day. so gently pretty and reminiscent of spring; easily my favorite jo malone(if only these were more concentrated < / 3)

This is my favorite Jo Malone perfume. This is what I would describe as a fairy perfume, imagine Rosetta from Tinkerbell. It smells so dainty and feminine. This could easily be a signature scent for the spring and summer. I wish it lasted longer and projected a bit more, however, it is an absolutely beautiful perfume. Easily a 10/10 for me.

The perfect scent for a fairy dancing in a wet meadow after rain 🧚🏻 This is a very green fragrance, but not bitter — instead, it feels like soft, fresh spring vegetation just emerging from the ground. There’s a fleeting sweetness of persimmon and a gentle presence of tiny flowers. It might be bluebells... but who knows?

I love it! It's a fresh floral less fruity scent that is dewy and mild. I smell beautiful florals comparable to jasmine as well as fresh green leaves and some sweetness. It also reminds me of Magnolia Charm of B&BW which I also love. Overall, it smells pleasant which gives a sense of satisfaction. A new favorite.

very light and inoffensive on the surface. though the clove and musk offer a slight warmth. the nectarine notes are delightful, juicy. wild bluebell smells like eating peaches in a grandma's garden on the first morning of spring. green and bright but misty with clouds overhead. slightly wistful and nostalgic.

This is so sweet and whimsical. A rainy spring day in a bottle. This is what I think a fairy smells like. Genuinely love it. The only downside is it's quite light and doesn't last too long. You could also probably pair this with a stronger fragrance for more of an effect since it's so intimate.

This smells exactly like Tatcha Dewy Skin cream. Very luxurious! I don't think it's necessarily feminine. it smells like if you got out of the shower after using luxury skin care products. "not a perfume" type scent. I don't get the artificial watermelon everyone keeps mentioning.

Smells like going on a walk in a meadow on a misty morning. Sunlight fills the world, and everything is airy and bright. This reminds me strongly of another perfume I got ten years ago which also was described as "dewy" and "sapphire" with white musk as a note.

This fragrance is akin to a watercolor painting. It’s airy, dreamy, mythical. A room surrounded by fields of wildflowers; the smell of fresh paper on a desk - a poem in the making. There’s nothing else like it. If only it lasted longer.

Absolute freshie. At times I swear I can smell watermelon as well. No amount of praise could do this one a justice. Obviously I adore it. Having said that I do wish it would project more. Other than that, it’s pure perfection 🤩

I thought I hated this when I first tried it. Sprayed it on my guy friend and he smelled like a rotting carcass. Tried it on me again recently and I smell like a pretty princess garden fairy. Will likely buy a full bottle.

it smells like if you crushed grape hyacinth (muscari) in your hand. very green floral. very fresh. on its own it's a bit too green but layered with nectarine blossom and honey????? absolute magic. very spring scent.

I'm a man and this is definitely a unisex fragrance that I love. It has the same creamy freshness as Allure Homme Sport and the same citrus burst as Clinique Happy Men. Gorgeous scent...sadly doesn't perform well.

most wonderful perfume i have come across and had to purchase it. wearing this teleports me to a spring garden in England which is filled with dewdrops and fairies. Imagine tinkerbell going to mainland for spring.

Dewdrops sparkling on green blades of grass near a creek of clear water trickling over mossy stones. A cool spring breeze and a whiff of a nearby field of bluebells. Chilly, damp, and breathtakingly beautiful.

I fell in love with perfume after testing it in the airport. It smells like a sunlit garden the morning after it rained. It’s very innocent and natural. It’s also not very basic 💙

Beautiful, fresh and clean scent. Works well in any season but particularly spring. I love how dewy and aquatic it is and its really easy to wear without it feeling overpowering.

One word: ethereal. Forest fairies playing from dawn until right after the sunrise. Watery flowers, cold and refreshing. Such a delight to wear in a country as hot as mine.

this is my first jo malone fragrance! i reeeally enjoy this, it reminds me a lot of the early 2000s! it’s a gentle musky scent with light touch of sweetness. i love it

On my skin, it starts off with an almost aquatic, fresh watermelon 🍉. Then the dry down the bluebell. Smells amazing, the best floral in my collection.

Delicate, dewdrop-studded blue floral... something about this makes it come off very cold/frosty to me, especially on the drydown, which I love.

Alice in Wonderland - in a good way. It's my second favourite perfume, it's youthful (just like Alice), but mysterious (just like her adventure)

The ultimate clean girl scent. Perfect for everyday use, it’s soft, delicate feminine and chic. I do wish the performance was better...

This is a very soft, light, pretty scent. My favorite from Jo Malone. A watery spring fragrance.. but not something I ever reach for.
