JV x NJ Silver

Mineralic sage, moss (I'm sure moss is definitely involved), orris and citruses with a hint of musk and geranium. Very refined, well-balanced, and well-blended. Masculine orris, fresh, fougere-leaning, blue, unique, and amazing. Very good sillage and longevity. Smells like you're walking past a gentleman. Not generic but not completely unique either, just something in between. Very good for a occasional & professional reach. Possibly my most favorite JV so far, shame it was a limited run. Edit: I'm seeing comments compare it to Dylan Blue, but this is such an injustice. This bottle is 10 times more refined than DB. The most obvious factor is the difference in orris and grapefruit. This has a more orris-forward drydown, while DB has a more grapefruit-forward drydown. Also, as I have mentioned before, this is a fougère leaning blue fragrance, as all the notes and their composition are more sophisticated, well-balanced, and blended. Meanwhile, DB smells like a grapefruit blue fragrance with little to no depth and sweetness.

This is a versatile fragrance that can be worn year-round, night or day in most any situation. I think this should be rated at least a 4.0. It really does have some type of "pebble" scent that I enjoy. It's fresh with a gentle sweetness that is not cloying and has a bit of creaminess to it from the orris root and sandalwood. Longevity is above average on this one. I don't know why something that smells this good gets panned so frequently; it deserves way more love than it gets.

Sometimes I just don't get this community. How can Dylan Blue get its credit but this one does not. Granted the former has more depth and sillage for its versatility, but JV Silver is a fresher, more linear and youthful version of it that I absolutely prefer on hotter days. And for half the price at rack stores for 125ml bottle (25ml more than Dylan Blue, I got mine for CAD $30), Please !!! 8/10

I like it a lot. Was my go to for a long time. Would recommend. I do feel the notes are present and accurate on the pyramid. Like I get the mineral/pebble vibe throughout, some strong citrus at the beginning that tapers off, and finally a small amount of musk without any of the citrus towards the end. It last about 5ish hours? Give or take a few either way. Overall, I would recommend.

Versatile as f*#k. Can be used almost anywhere, work, gym, day to day stuff and going out to a bar or whatever. Probably wouldnt use it for anything formal. But this is better than Dylan Blue, doesnt have the metallic ambroxan that DB has. This is fresher and a little sweeter. Compliment getter for sure. Performace is moderate all round. So its a winner for me. Highly recommented.

This IS Tiffany &Love for him. Hands down. They’re 90%identical . -Did a side by side at Macy’s and yeah, 90%.

I like this fragrance loads unfortunately the longevity is poor.

To my nose, this is a dupe for CK2.

Great blue fragrance for only $25! Very mass appealing, versatile, reminds me of multiple other blue fragrances. Quality is good but not like you know Chanel/Dior quality but this is not super synthetic. Performance is average maybe slightly above average. It’s engineered to be a subtle fresh and clean scent not meant to be super loud and projecting so it’s good for what it’s made for. The scent itself: I get the citrus up top very nice. I get a resinous amber/ambroxan As it dries down I get the woods a good bit That above is what is most prominent however there are some nuances that I’m not sure what notes they are but they are subtle.

I’m not sure if the low rating is due to the collaboration with Nick Jonas, or if it’s because this fragrance isn’t an original DNA. For me, this is a less juvenile version of Dylan Blue. Where Dylan Blue comes across as loud, metallic, and screechy on my skin, this is much smoother and more reserved. This could have something to do with John Varvatos fragrances in general usually having soft projection and low performance, but in this case it works in its favor. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but I like it. No regrets grabbing a 75ml for $25.

I bit the bullet and purchased a tester of this fragrance since my girlfriend enjoys the other two variants of the jv x nj collaboration line. Opens very similar to a cross between dylan blue, and hugo reversed, with some bits sauvage and coach platinum thrown in there. Dries down to a semi-fresh, earthy/green smell. Overall, its not bad. Pretty fresh, green type of fragrance. Nothing unique. You have probably smelled this before.

The weakest in the JV x NJ line. It is a sweet, synthetic fruity fragrance that really isn't all that special. "Mineral" seems like a generic note, what does that really smell like? I'm guessing that note is what gives this fragrance an odd quality, not displeasing, and keeps the fragrance from becoming overly sweet. If you catch this on sale it is not a bad buy and if you never experience it you are not missing anything.

A great scent for the price. It has mineral notes, its woody, citrusy, aromatic, freshspicy, and does take inspiration from the Dior's suavage. It is a really good, pleasing and all around great fragrance. Also, I do get a great similarity with this and coach platinum. Longetivity: 85/100 Projection: 82/100 The scent: 86/100 Overall: 84/100

Citrusy, fresh and clean is how i will sum it up. It smells good and the mineral note makes it diffrent. You can surely smell the NJ/JV dna in this one. I enjoy the smell but the longevity is what we come to expect from JV. Smeels of high quality and it will set you apart from others.

The first John Varvatos fragrance that I like.

FRESH CLEAN WHITE MUSKY SLIGHTLY SPICY Opening is similar to Ferragamo Urban Feel, bright-fresh-spicy-clean that's very invigorating like ice, and the dry-down is similar to Dylan Blue but not a 1 to 1, Dylan Blue is clean shower gel(y) slight spicy while JVxNJ Silver is musky fresh clean slightly spicy (the spiciness is similar to that of Sauvage &/or Dylan Blue but not as brash); clean generic mass-appealing frag fit for spring, summer, fall, day-time, even unisex (due to softness); Projection/Sillage': LIGHT, aromatic with scent trail for the 1st hour or so then becomes an in-close scent thereafter Performance/Longevity: DECENT, 4-5 hours

EDIT: I sprayed this one again and now I can smell it but it is still very weak and has a somewhat fresh, powdery scent similar to Montblanc Individuel. Maybe I got a bad bottle but out of all the John Varvatos colognes that I have this one is the weakest and I can't pick up much of anything. I am disappointed with it but at least I only paid about $26 for it.

(From a Macy's paper sample that come with a different fragrance order): You look very nice with your shirt off, Mr. Jonas, but a fan of your fragrance I am not. I can't even fully explain why I don't like it, as I don't have the actual liquid to compare opening vs. drydown, but your paper sampler is not doing you any favors. I think @zadewee is on to something in that the pepper is a bit much. I like pepper in my scents, but more in a supporting role or co-star, rather than the headliner. Once that pepper steps aside, it smells very familiar, like I've smelled this somewhere else before, but I can't quite put my finger (or nose, rather!) on it.

i'll keep it short. i love JV. im a fanboy. this scent is uninspired and doesnt feel like a JV fragrance. Boring and normal. hard pass.

Someone tried and failed to use black pepper as a "mineral note"

Got this for my boyfriend from a discount store (TJ Maxx) so that could ultimately be what's causing issues with longevity and projection, but this is a very quiet scent. I meant to pick up the original scent from the NJxJV line in the navy blue bottle. For the price I got this at however, it's a very good "running errands" or "gym" scent, or even bumming around the house. I think if he oversprayed this a bit he could get more out of it, but we went on a small hike together while he wore this and it heated up and gave some actual projection, it smelled really great. It was very clean and masculine with a fresh herbal feel, didn't smell odd or sour mixed with his sweat haha. For $25 dollars at the discounted price I think it's a great bargain buy if you're looking for something you don't really care about going through quickly. Good if you want a "cuddle" scent or are looking to get someone a bit younger into fragrances and don't want something overtly noticeable or annoying.

"Mineral Accord, Green Leaves, Citrus Accords, Orris On The Rocks (according to Dillards and Ulta), and Shadow Woods" For the love of god, could you be any more vague! You might as well just stick a big neon yellow sticker on it that says "it smells good!" or "it's musky!" for that level of detail. It's a new male designer fragrance; basically, does it smell like Invictus, Sauvage, or a overly sweet tonka bomb because in this current year it's one or the other, sister! I have to not be so harsh, these are the same people that say Eros Flame is an "aromatic-fougère", Armani Code Profumo as an "Oriental Spicy", or the Polo Red series as a "woody spicy". These sad poor individuals who dare put Fougère with any modern male designer release. I can't wait for the new "modern" take on La Vie Est Belle, as the new "chypre" I digress, my boyfriend loves these collaborations with Nick Jonas and John Varvatos, and I'm sure he'll love this one too.

Not a bad "Blue" fragrance, if you are in the market for one. Performance isn't great, but not awful. Citrusy sweet with a touch of herbal greenness. As it dries, you get that Versace DB Patchouli /Amber feel... Minus the incense but with a more earthy mineral feel. fairly close to the skin, but feel free to spray a bit heavy. If you're a little older with a decent sized collection it's good for office, casual, errand runner. But appealing and versatile enough to wear as a signature if you're younger / have a smaller collection. Its been done before - But that doesn't mean it smells bad and it can be had for a very good price at rack stores. The problem it runs into, there are a number of similar fragrances that are just a few more dollars and are better overall fragrances. Versace Dylan Blue $40 - $55 JV-NJ Silver $25 - $40 If I am buying one of them - It's Versace DB, without too much thought at all.

Tried this one out in store a while back and while it is a pleasant scent, as others have stated, it is really uninspired in the lineup of JV fragrances. The majority of his lineup are rather unique for a designer brand. There's not really any one fragrance of his that smells like the other and they're great quality for price. However, when it comes to this one, it just kind of fell flat for me. Yes, it is a pleasant, mass pleasing scent and there's nothing wrong with that. But to me, this honestly just smelled like CK Eternity rebottled, maybe slightly modernized. If you like that scent, you would enjoy this. It is nice, but just not my thing for the lack of originality.

This gets compared to Versace Dylan Blue quite often, and to be honest, it's definitely similar. The big difference smelling them side-by-side is that JV x NJ Silver smells like a lower quality version of Dylan Blue, with all of the notes smashed together instead of allowed space to breathe. Think of Dylan Blue like stereo audio, and JV x NJ Silver is mono. In saying all that, it's not at all bad fragrance for a grab-and-go spray or two when you've got to run out the door.

It definitely has the "blue" DNA that other mainstream designer fragrances have but the mineral and pebble notes give it an earthy and sedimentary edge to it that makes a touch less run of the mill. Like most other JV fragrances the longevity is average at best and the projection is toned down compared to the Sauvage and Dylan Blue. I picked up a 2.5oz bottle at Marshalls for $24.99 and more than feel that I'm getting my money's worth. 7.5/10

Smells like a flanker to the gucci guilty line, has the same kinda fresh and clean citrus that is in most of them. Its a good blue fragrance for the price but i would reccomend one of the coach for men fragrances being roughly the same price yet better made and same style of scent being shower gel versatile mass appealing.

Got a compliment within 30 minutes of putting it on, safe to say that it works. It’s is very similar to Dylan blue and you can find it for very cheap. Unfortunately it doesn’t last very long (about 3 hours) but I think it’s good if you want to wear something nice to run some errands or hangout with friends for a bit.

JV NJ Silver is a decent mineral fragrance to wear when out and about. It has weak projection like typical JV scents but does perform better in warm weather. I bought this on a discount at Marshall's but would pass on it the next time. This would make a good gift if you have a younger son or nephew in college or so.

This is a pleasant smell, I cannot deny that. But it smells somewhat generic in a whay that it is basic musk-citrus. It reminds me of a can deodorant that I used to get as a birthday present as a kid who lived in 90's in Yugoslavia under economic sanctions.

It's okay. It's "another one of those frags." Something about it intrigued me. But after a few min, it became so basic. Good, but no. Not again!!

I tried it. It sucks. Another me too men's designer frag. But the fact that "sexy amber" is one of the listed notes is extremely funny.

Definitely smells like a smoother Dylan Blue and I get similar performance to it. Solid alternative for the price.
