Enfleuria

Enfleuria is a beautiful, somehow vintage smelling gardenia scent. It reminds me of a lovely scent from my past, and makes me feel a pang of nostalgia, but I can't quite put my finger on it... Like tophcam says below, it opens with a sharp piney/turpentine-y ("terpene-y") note (maybe the tansy, which seems to have leaves like rosemary or some evergreen), but this aspect quickly dissipates. I think the addition of rockrose/labdanum gives it an earthy, vintage quality that I really love. I also do get the warm, fruity ylang ylang and jasmine that mix beautifully with the cool, green gardenia. Its only drawback is that it doesn't seem to have great longevity; the scent becomes quite faint after about 90 minutes. I'm only testing it on the backs of my hands, rather than putting it all over my pulse points, so the additional oil might create more of a scent bubble, though it probably won't help in the longevity department, unfortunately. And yikes! I just noticed that Enfleuria originally sold for $150! I picked up Enfleuria at Marshall's for $15 a couple of days ago, so if you're a gardenia and vintage fan, keep your eyes peeled. Yes it's worth $15 -- maybe more -- but NO, in my opinion, it's not worth $150! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Update: I put a whole bunch of the oil on my arms, and the drydown is really beautiful, from top to bottom. In the far drydown -- which for this fragrance is around the 2-3 hour range -- it starts to take on a smoky incense aspect that I've noticed with some white florals (Lush Sikkim Girls comes to mind here...). It's really gorgeous. <3

A gorgeous mellowing of sunny gardenia and warm, stretchy ylang-ylang. The initial roll has a tinge of terpene-y tansy, but the ylang-ylang and jasmine give a grounded depth. It's gardenia with a really sensual warmth to carry it through, so those who prefer the more voluminous approach to white florals will likely be a fan. I get pretty linear wear, and moderate longevity considering this is an oil-based fragrance. It doesn't lack projection though, so a few dabs on ankles, arms, and chest feels more than substantial. It's really beautifully done, botanical fragrance or otherwise. I received this fragrance from the brand but was under no obligation to post this review.

Seeing the little rollerballs of this one pop up at rack stores recently. If you see it and appreciate florals at all, grab it! It doesn't feel super vintage-y or traditional to me at all, opening with a very pungent terpene-y blast from the tansy that will actually tingle your nose in almost the same way as freshly picked mint. From there it settles into a nice summery gardenia with that piney vibe in the background, and then a nice resinous warmth as it's finishing up. Totally unisex imo. $15 at rack stores, no-brainer for that price! The box looks like it would contain a ~50ml spray bottle, do note that this is a tiny 15ml rollerball. Still very worth it!

Akin to smelling a bouquet of flowers or a fresh flower growing in a botanical garden. Found on clearance at Marshall’s for $6. I can’t see or feel how much is left in the opaque bottle (if used), but I get some every time I apply. Effective rollerball. I keep it in the box on my vanity. May be good for layering, but I haven’t tried that yet.

I had high hopes for this one. Unfortunately it was a miss. The tansy note in this is very prominent. And although it boast a unique presence in the fragrance, it almost dominates it entirely. It opens up very camphorous and herbaceous as other have said, but it prickles my nose in an unpleasant way. I'm also having difficulty smelling anything other than a terpene-y and cooling scent. If anything, it has a pollen like aroma that is kind of musty. I guess I must not like natural perfumes.
