Blind bought as I live coffee and coffee perfumes. Firstly for context I’ve tried them all and no Montale and Thierry have some of the worst I know (IMHO). Some of the many I think are the best excluding this: House of Kerosene Follow Me (The best full stop). Pierre Guillaume Sambaka Carthusia Terra Mia This is one is a bit of a powerhouse! It skitters toward Terra Mia for comparison - meaning slightly feminine, sugary and milky as opposed to Follow Me and Sambaka which embody everything down to the fresh ground roasted bean. For all intents and purposes past the slightly dusty opening and despite the note table this is like a strong milky smooth with slight bitterness. It is bodied out by a a slightly syrupy rose (this in effect the kiwi and fruit flesh but I can only say that now knowing the note table and I kinda get it but it’s so camouflaged - go figure!). The opening dustiness and and bitterness is the tobacco however again this is camouflaged as really an accent to me to help develop the coffee feel (admittedly I’m a tobacco fan so it was this version I chose blindly as opposed to number 2 or 3) - so as far as I’m concerned a high vote for tobacco here is very misleading though it is there. Very impressive performance and definitely one of the best coffee perfumes. If coffee or gourmand is for you I would highly recommend putting this on your list and you’ll come to realise how poor and commercial Mugler and Montales offers are...

Another brand that I’ve never heard of, Jousset. And somehow the perfumer mixed ingredients, that on paper, look like they would fail terribly. In the opening I do smell a realistic and dominant coffee note, but it’s combined with mint and tea. Very odd combo but somehow it works. The heart has some sweet, thinner scents, which must be the melon and kiwi. Along with coffee, I smell tobacco throughout. This is an ugly duckling that blooms into a beautiful coffee swan. I have no idea why this is wonderful but what a delight. I think this might be a limited edition as I did not see it on the Jousset website, but it is currently available on Luckyscent at $150 for 50ml.

I had the chance to test this house fragrances. I tested 7-8 of them and I can say I want atleast 3 of them and this is the first I will buy for sure! This is a real unique one! Realy!!! It's super sweet, strong and gourmand lovers dream! The coffe not thet strong in this, (I can feel it, but to me it's not the main player). The first impression of the fragrance is a "caramel tobacco tart". But after testing out my sample I can detect all the notes. Sometimes I get a melon-tobacco vibe and sometimes the coffe-tobacco dominates. But my first impression still remain, the "caramel" vibe. :) Gourmand lovers need to test this! This beauty needs our attention! :)

What I’m smelling is basically coffee and burnt sugar scrapings from an oven fire. It’s probably the most vile thing I’ve smelled in a long time. I gagged so hard it made my eyes water. The perfumer has achieved what I thought was impossible: a perfect 0/10

This one is wild and I love it. Qahua Bunga #1 opens with a strikingly realistic durian accord but not in the way the stereotypes suggest. Think Musang King: lush, creamy, almost caramelised, with a rich fruity sweetness that borders on decadent rather than offensive. It’s funky, yes but in the same way blue cheese or truffle is funky: indulgent, complex, and addictive. The composition feels like a collision of bright tropical fruits (melon and kiwi facets) with a darker, roasted coffee-tobacco backbone. That contrast gives it a fascinating push-pull between juicy freshness and deep, slightly bitter warmth, like the smell of durian. It evolves constantly on skin, never sitting still, very much in line with a gourmand that leans theatrical and expressive. Jousset absolutely commits to the concept here. This is not a “safe” fragrance nor is it designed for mass appeal. It celebrates a broader olfactory palate, one that embraces ingredients and scent memories beyond Western conventions. If you appreciate bold, culturally rich gourmand profiles, this is a standout.
