Rose Millesimee

I love rose scents. The past year, I've fallen into a "rose hole," and for months now, I've been living in the most blissful rose-centric scent cloud. Roses of all types have adorned my flesh—fresh, bright, dark, spicy, jammy, woody, etc. Basically, what I mean to say is that I have smelled dozens and dozens of different takes on rose. Wearing a series of rose scents in succession has allowed me to compare and contrast how rose is used in various perfumes, how perfumers highlight some of its facets over others or accent the floral with complementary accords. You get the gist. And after smelling so many roses, falling in love with so many roses, I have to say that Rose Millésimée is a revelation. Malle's Une Rose is my favorite rose perfume, and it's basically a soliflore, but the bells and whistles there (truffle, wine dregs) push it into plush Technicolor. Rose Millésimée, too, is a soliflore, but so much more natural—a rose as it actually exists in nature, unfiltered. Rose Millésimée opens similarly to Masque Milano's Love Kills, a bright, high-pitched rose, what I understand others to mean when they refer to citronella in rose perfumes. (While I understand that comparison, I don't detect the actual scent of citronella.) It's as though the day is bright and sunny, but that flaming orb in the sky has been replaced with the queen of flowers. When Love Kills was released, it was described as embodying the life of a rose from bloom to decay. On my skin, though, Love Kills was rather linear. To my nose, Rose Millésimée more successfully accomplishes that mission, evolving over the course of its wear. From that gleaming open comes an ever-so-slightly fruity rose (if you really search for apple, you'll find it seamlessly blended with the central rose), a tea rose, a spiced rose (an expert and judicious use of clove), and finally, a powdered rose. It really does feel as though you're wearing a different rose perfume as it advances from one stage to the next. And that, my fragrance friend, is a sign that this is a truly special perfume created by a truly special perfumer. So thank you, Jovoy. Thank you, Vanina Muracciole. Take a bow! *standing ovation*

Woahhhhh oahhh oahhh!!!!!!!! Rose Alert Bomb!!!!!!!!! This is so beautiful, honestly, I am blown away but you have got to be a rose lover to appreciate this one. It is as if you had drowned in a vat of rose essence. Truly. I obtained a small vial dabber and just dabbed lightly on my wrist and it’s as if I got punched in the face with the most ginormous red bouquet of Roses imaginable! Do I love it? Yes!! Unequivocally yes! But this isn’t for the faint of heart. No, this will get you noticed and this is for those who want to be noticed. No going under the radar with this one 😅😅 This is quite linear as it smells of Roses until it is finished with you but that is what I love about it. As it is coming to the end, there’s a slight musky undertone that smells cozy and comforting but we are talking hours and hours of wear here, perhaps 8-9 hours. Beautiful scent I hope to acquire soon!! Longevity: 12+ hours Projection/Sillage: it’s a Beast (albeit a Beauty😝) Price: yeah...um, it’s pricy alright...but a little goes a veeeerrryyy looooong way so you’ll have this forever? All in all, absolutely wonderful and worth sampling. Full Bottle worthy for me but then again, I am a rose fragrance freak😅🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

This is not for women only. Yes, a rose soliflore might pass for something women only can wear, but this is built with so many facets that can’t be connected to a simple floral, simple rose worn by grandma at Sunday Mass. It smells natural, and I was not mistaken to think it smells natural, as this was confirmed after reading the interview that the owner of Jovoy granted to a Fragrantica columnist. 2% of may rose (Centifolia) from Grasse, from the Patou plantation, was used in this 25% concentration fragrance. Surely some synthetic Work around has been added (musk as a fixative) and other citrusy and green molecules, but the result leans more on the natural and complex smell of a just blossomed rose, not on a bunch of synthetic molecules trying to reproduce it. Glad I have tested it. Glad it is not out everywhere and glad it is a limited batch for this year. Another batch will be released next year, and so on so forth according to what nature is able (and willing) to provide.

I’ve considered parting with this many times because for me this pure, unadulterated expression of rose requires a very certain type of situation and mindset to wear. However, I’ve come to realize that even if I would never wear this, such a beautiful and honest depiction of rose should be in every perfume enthusiast’s collection - whichever their version of said depiction is. It’s the queen of flowers after all. I get an almost carbonated, airy and soapy rose in the beginning, moving towards a heart with slight warmth brought by spices, with the rose slowly moving from airy, to slightly jammy, and finally to a dried dark red hue. 5/5 from me for what it attempts to be.

A pure rose scent. This opens like a blooming rose and explodes into rose bushes. It's a classy rose smell, beautiful and very pure. Dry down has a hint of cinnamon to my nose giving it a sort of spicy, and a tiny bit powdery rose. Unfortunately, like a real rose, it fades fast; on my skin at least. The sillage is magnificent at first, but after an hour it has almost no sillage. I think this makes it more versatile than other rose scents. I could see this being worn at work, late fall, with some dabs on a sweater to sniff through out the day.

I love this perfume. Not till you spray it on skin can you really take its measure. I smell a realistic fully bloomed rose. I do get some citrus esp. at the beginning. It has things in common with other rose perfumes I own but also a specialness all its own. The sillage is low moderate on me and longevity is good. If you are a Rose perfume lover then this would be worth a shot. Thanks to a wonderful Fragratican I luckily have a bottle that I will treasure to the last drop.

Green and Fruity Rose that remind you to Rose that people usually expect. I have to say that it's full with Aroma chemical than Rose Absolute Because it's too close to Rose that people expect than close to Rose Absolute But it's good one of the good rose for sure. Really intense. 1 or 2 Spray was enough for wearing

I gave this masterpiece to my wife as a present for our 10th wedding anniversary. It is the purest, most perfect quintessence of natural rose. Excellente sillage and longevity. A timeless masterpiece!

True to nature rose. Elegant, refined and simple rose. Happy to have this, it's a head turner in the spring-fall-summer. It happened to me when I was testing it so I had to get it :D

This has got to be the best rose scent. It smells 100% like rose water. No more no less. And long lasting. I am in heaven.

This rose is huge! It is deep and intense, very rich and intoxicating. A rare beautiful rose perfume for rose lovers.

IMHO, this is rose perfection. But please, only one spray. Any more and you will choke yourself and others out.

this is such a literal interpretation that i regret purchasing 50mls at a price point that's painful when you don't love the scent. 'Rose Millesimee' doesn't give 'freshly-cut' rose any more than simple rose absolute would. i'll be layering this extrait with some gourmand scents for those lokum moods, but otherwise...sigh.

top notes: pink floral (in air), lemon peel, subtle powdery smell middle notes: rose, pink floral, subtle powdery, warm base notes: rose, powdery (intense) nothing special here. really intense at the base. Great performance but rose is subtle for being a rose fragrance. id give it a 6/10 sadly.

Do you already have a "rose" perfume? Then don't bother. This is boring generic rose. Fine as it goes, but there's no depth, there's no complexity and it is the same rose you can find for cheap as chips prices. (And an hour into wear it is already fading.) I had real hope for this one. Rich as cheesecake they said, and I pictured velvety dark blossoms of antique roses that fill the whole garden with rich layered sweet scent and no. This is just a generic "rose" (which means one thing to perfumers not the many scent families available in real garden roses.) Meh, skip it. It is very safe, if you need a scent that won't offend to give as a gift you could do worse but you could do a lot better too.

Very sharp green and spicy rose with a little of powderyness. Not interesting nor intriguing. The 2% of real may rose absolute is wasted if the company really put that in here

I have to preface this review by saying I don't really like rose. Of course there are so many types of rose with different qualities that can be manipulated in endless ways in endless compositions and I really like a lot of them, so to say I don't like rose as a note is a huge generalisation. But honestly I loathe this. It's like drawer liners or a heavily scented decorative hand soap in a guest bathroom where someone's been overspraying air freshener. My first instinct was to scrub but I resisted the urge. I wanted to give it a chance to develop or soften but it's going nowhere- because I didn't expect to like it I only used one spray on skin and it is POTENT. Boy does it project. I have to hand it to Jovoy, as much as I dislike the way it smells this one has very impressive performance.

Top 10 pleb repellent. Truly a rose that grew from the concrete of panache. This is what's used to get sworn into the geriatric club. This pink jackhammer is not just a perfume, it's a social distancer. A bed of roses, this is not(figuratively). Just like most rose based scents, there are second bananas that operate behind the wizard of oz curtain. In this case, the "banana" is actually an apple(go to luckyscent for the true note listing). The Bulgarian rose is substantial to the point where it seems like both the clove and apple is inconspicuous. Coup De Grace is a cult favorite and one that I would deem to be Rose Millesimee's doppleganger.

Smells very similar to Malle’s Portrait of a Lady to me, except this is more linear. What this opens as is what it stays at, completely unwavering - a bright, sweet (but not jammy) rose, and rose only. Absolutely love it. Longevity, projection and sillage are above average, lasts and lasts - if you overspray this your olfactory senses are in trouble, as is everyone else’s around you lol.
