Foxglove

This perfume is so conflicting! on one hand it is gorgeously old fashioned, and definitely evokes that glam art nouveau feel, but on the other hand it does occasionally dip into being something slightly old ladyish. But then I can’t quiet tell if thats a bad thing. On me it opens with a very powdery sweet blood orange note, with a hint of green and petrichor very close to the skin. As it evolves it becomes more floral, heavily Hyacinth, which is probably what feeds into the ‘old lady’ aspect of it. At its very last i’m left with that syrupy sweetness and a hint of snapped-leaf green. It reminds me on first sniff of Hawaii, how everything has a heavy syrupy green floral scent to it, a full of sharp but powdery Jasmine. It does really fit with that old New York 20s-30s glamour though. Sniffing it desperately makes me want to don a feather trimmed dressing gown and sip away on some champagne.

This is supremely beautiful, it smells like the Pacific Northwest in the spring: fresh cut grass, sweet camellia, hyacinth, and even something kind of pollen-ish with sweetness from the blood orange. It’s just really warm and it reminds me of the long walks in the park and wearing short sleeves at nighttime. I can’t imagine what’s old-ladyish about this—I don’t find it powdery or musky at all, it’s very natural smelling and timeless. Longevity is ok, a few hours with low sillage, I’m absolutely enamored by the bottle, though—just beautiful and I love the gold applicator, I always feel like some sort of fairy applying it and it gives you a lot more control than a sprayer. I just wish the bottle sealed a bit better! All in all this is a must try! Spendy but very worthwhile!

This reminds me of home, Jamaica, in the country... the smell of fresh grass and dewy earth in the morning. Sweet and earthy with a suggestion of fragrant flowers. Love it! Love it even more as I realize this a natural perfume house! No wonder it smells so authentic. Must try for nature lovers.

This composition is all sweet flowers for me. I unfortunately pick up none of the green or earthy notes. And Mrs. Meyer's honeysuckle-scented dish soap (which happens to be what sits by my kitchen sink) smells almost identical to the top-notes of this perfume. I do enjoy it despite this uncanny resemblance, but I'd like it more if I could smell the grass and oak! The scent stays relatively close to the body, and has decent staying power, but it doesn't last as long as other perfume oils that I've used. I'd say this is office-friendly, and appropriate for any daytime occasion without being too bland or timid.

I bought the 10 ml size, which is a great value for the price (I dislike rollers, though, and always remove them). The studio delivered very quickly. I do smell the carrier oil in this, which isn't a deal-breaker, as it dissipates eventually. Otherwise, a lot of hyacinth, some jasmine and a bit of tartness from narcissus. Sillage and longevity are good for an oil-based perfume. A very fresh-smelling spring scent. I do wonder why it's called Foxglove, as those have no fragrance, ha.
