Black Leather

After trying some leather scents recently that were too sharp and acrid for my taste, I braced myself to test Black Leather, thinking it was going to be super oily, heavy. There's nothing wrong with those scents, I'm just burnt out on them at the moment. I was thinking it'd be like Black Afgano if its subject were leather, and never have I been this excited to be wrong! I've revisited it a couple times now and it's becoming one of my favorite leathers. Yes, there is that oily, gasoline-ish opening that I expect in leather-forward fragrances. If we're waxing poetic, maybe that's the motorcycle under the leather-clad badass. Within a minute, a creamy vanilla steps in and smooths out most of the gasoline edge to reveal the leather jacket in all its glory: buttery smooth black leather, soft and durable. The vanilla is creamy, lactonic, and very powdery. And that's what I get for about 4 hours: smooth leather and creamy vanilla. This part reminds me of Memoirs of a Trespasser from Imaginary Authors, but Black Leather is simpler (not a bad thing!) and smoother. The final act is a light skin scent of someone who smoked a cigarette some hours ago, leaving the leather jacket behind. I'm not a cigarette-smoker, but I have some dear friends who are, and this makes me miss them... but I acknowledge that cigarette-skin, however light, is not going to be sweetly nostalgic for everyone. I really enjoyed this journey. While Black Leather is wearable in its own right, it could also be really nice for layering with sweet or floral scents. Definitely sample it first.

This is a black leather impression in watercolour. A second skin for the rocker in us all. The ultimate cool girl aesthetic: she wears her favourite concert tee and a pair of vintage jeans while tossed over her shoulder is her black leather motorcycle jacket. She’s got that chic lined-eyes-and-supple-lips beauty without trying, cheekbones that could cut like a knife. She knows who she is and she’s not denying it anymore. This is not suede, it is not supple. A cracked leather jacket that’s been through the reeds. It’s seen it all, and now so has she. She knows who she is, and she knows what she’s not. She’ll be the song you can’t get out of your dreams when it is just an echo facing the day. Coasting on a whispered breath of Japanese hinoki, sandalwood, and agarwood incense surrounded by a haze of amber. Black Leather opens with a touch of citrus so fleeting that one doesn’t even care if she misses the top notes. The vanilla in this isn’t a sweet one; it’s dry and chewy but we never fully taste it. And then the leather...an indolic breath of leather, worn to softness except where the jacket has touched pavement. This isn’t a new leather jacket. It’s got the rich oils in it still, but because Black Leather starts of light (I do think this is the effervescent quality of all of J-Scent’s fragrances) and settles into a skin scent of sex appeal, this becomes the sexiest and effortless leather I’ve ever worn.

Tom Ford Ombre leather wishes it was as good as J Scents Black Leather. Black leather starts off slightly sweet with a rich spiced pipe tobacco and as it develops it becomes a sensual masculine oakmoss and leather fragrance. Black leather is sweeter and there are no aldehydes like in Cabochard and it is much more pleasing to post modern noses. It is softer, rounder, fuller and less sharp than Cabochard and with none of the soapiness/ aftershave like smell. I like Cabochard and my husband wears it but Black Leather is better. Moderate projection but I like that in a male fragrance. So many male fragrances are very loud and in bad taste. This is a sensual leather, tobacco and oakmoss that is classy, elegant and would make a wonderful date night fragrance for any man.

This is very sophisticated and smooth! It opens with a unsweetened type of pipe tobacco that quickly transitions into an earthy-mossy and slightly soapy black leather. As it moves more into it the drydown fluffy musks, jasmine and vanilla subtly move in. It by no means ever gets too sweet or floral though. Throughout the whole composition there is a subtle oily type of incense like smoke underneath that really gives a mysterious vibe.Im not usually the biggest fan of leathery scents but it’s subtle and smooth enough to be easily wearable. I think it can actually be quite versatile in the right settings since most of its rough edges are polished out.

This is a buttery, clean, soft leather - really beautiful and I would say unisex. The oakmoss note comes off a bit loud at first, but as it progresses it mellows out into a pleasant smoky effect. Not at all overbearing and perfect for nighttime and colder weather. Overall a very sophisticated fragrance, glad to have it in my collection

I really love this. It smells like a lighter and more rounded Under The Stars by Maison Margiela. I don’t know why people think this doesn’t last long. This actually has great longevity, it doesn’t scream though, about an arm’s length projection. Scent: 9/10 Projection: 7/10 Longevity: 8.5/10

Simple. Smooth dark sweet oily petrol leather bikie jacket. The drydown softens with an ambery vanilla pushing its way up. EDP longevity in a light EDT airy presentation. This is what horrid Gucci Guilty should have been. Done absolutely perfectly if you want a refreshing leather!

A beautiful velvety leather scent. I love wearing this in the cold weather. When I smell this I imagine standing outside of a bar or restaurant in the city at night time, feeling totally satiated, and looking up to find a full moon in the sky. Insane longevity.

Elegant black suede, with a soapy finish. A bit on the powdery side but that is usually the caveat whenever jasmine joins leather in a composition. The dry down reminds me of Ombré Leather, with its creamy, floral, amber nuances but the entire scent revolves around a leather accord similar to Cuiron and Piper Leather. Just like Ombré Leather, this one is Unisex and leans feminine to me, due to the powdery Jasmine.

This is a very good fragrance. It's not as bold as some of the western leather fragrances. It is a softer and less offensive leather fragrance while it does smell like black leather throughout its moderate longevity. I am wearing it for the first time today and after 9 hours the scent is still there - not strong, but it does stay for good hours.

I love this scent bought it on my trip to Japan I recently bought Creed Aventus and I can’t help but notice some similarities They both have this pencil sharpenings citrus vibe to it I’ve had dupes of Aventus but now owning the real thing the resemblance is spot on

Imo it's actually another take on "blue leather" with a slight rubbery/condom like sidenote. Alot more fresh and aquatic than memo irish leather, rasasi ambergris showers etc. Tbh this has nothing to do with those fragrances other than they all could be classified as blue leather. J-Scent Black leather is easy to wear and very light for a leather scent. Wearable all year round and in any occasion but to me it leans towards an office scent. For the price in Japan, this is a good buy.

This is insanely weak. Even the opening is barely perceptible. Calling it a skin scent would be generous. From what I can (barely) detect, this is vaguely buttery with a whisper of musk. That's all I can get from it. It's very disappointing. Maybe next time I'll try dowsing myself in it to see if I can pick out more details. For a real black leather scent, I'd recommend DS & Durga.

A leather jacket lightly coated in vanilla while walking through a mossy forest. Very green and smooth

Deep black leathery with a hint of sth. (tobacco?), dry perfume - classy but modern, or even timeless? Every time using it for the first time after a while not using it, it‘s almost too much. But as soon as I wear it for a while I‘m in love. It is a unisex scent, but maybe not for everyone. Pretty linear on my skin. Not much bergamot as I recall. To me it smells pretty raw but comforting and after a while cosy.

slightly oily and smoky but still retains some freshness!! i would've been all over this scent in my #alt days. heck, i would still like smelling like this now. reminds me the slightest bit of moon dust by min new york but the jasmine gives this a lovely roundness!! dare i say full bottle worthy....

I had to do a double-take when I sprayed this on. Pretty much a dupe of Bulgari Black in a different bottle. A pedestrian effort that leaves me disappointed, as I was expecting great things from this house. Very nice and pleasant but 0 marks for creativity.
