Shaft of Light

This is a gem of a frag. It opens with a fizzy lemon but it also has some dimension to it. You can definitely get all the notes and the result is a gentle uplifting scent that truly matches its name. I work in a hospital and feel completely safe wearing this. It won’t offend anyone but it makes me happy every time wear it. (For anyone working in health you’ll know it’s almost impossible to be happy at work these days but Shaft of Light truly helps!)

It's a very clean bright inoffensive floral. Very pleasant. Silage is small / subtle. Good for a spring/summer day in the office perhaps. Someone else said it smells like soap but for me it would have to be a very good smelling soap.

I wound up loving this far more than I thought! The soapy aldehydes and citrus notes work well together to create a soothing casual scent for warmer weather. I wish it was easier to find and had a longer longevity, though.

Just finished doing the dishes next to a sunny window. The smell of lemon dish soap still lingers, and the house is quiet.

It is exactly as the name described, a shaft of light. J-scent's fragrances brings me memories, and the feeling of nostalgia. This one is no exception. It is bright, soothing, uplifting, like a bright afternoon light. It is quite white floral but meshed well with the citrus and patchouli, so it's not overly cloying, and the patchouli is not heavy either.

Hovered my hand over my little cup of samples and whipped out this guy today. Did not love it the first time — reminded me too much of household cleaner on a test strip, but the sillage from the skin is divine. It feels like sunny afternoons and blue skies, a 65-degree day coming to a perfect end. The simple kind of pleasure that makes you smile. :-)

Very invigorating and clean, white blossoms with a citrus-pop. However it is very fleeting, it doesn’t project or last long, nor does it need to. If you love classic perfumery, you’ll love this. If you’re after something ‘different’ or expressive, this isn’t for you. 7/10 Edit: Is it just me or does the far drydown of this smell like an ashtray?

Smells like the highest quality dishwashing soap you can find. Lemony and floral in a very soapy way but not too sharp. I can actually detect all the listed notes (but lemon and magnolia most prominent to my nose) and yes it does feel a little bit like a shaft of light.

Super citrus that comes off as soapy without smelling aldehydic. It's clean, fresh and light. Similar to Maison Margiela's Bubble Bath, but more citrus and less musk. Dries down to a warm clean linen scent.

Soapy and citrus. A nice, clean scent. Limited longevity. Good projection for citrus.

Shaft of Light is a lesson in Japanese minimalism, and I mean that in a in the most perfect way. It's not a sillage monster that radiates around you, but a peaceful spark of joy in the middle of summer's unrelenting heat. You just can't expect most Japanese scents to be strong. While there are a variety of tastes like every other country, many of its denizens prefer light, fresh scents with florals, woods, or citruses. Shaft of Light is a shining example of that concept, and sometimes less is more. It opens with a melange of citrus. They sparkle like a cold glass of lemon water to cool yourself from the sun's scorching rays. They feel fluid, as if they are in tandem with a touch of sweetness and the energetic zest of the tart fruit. There are many florals in the scent as well, and they all just come together to form this sort of airy, dewy, and calming. They are clean and polite and fuse with a soapy musk to form something that feels heavenly and ethereal. It's a fantastic offering that smells quiet and peaceful, but it's not for those that seek to be noticed or fill a room. This is for people that want to smell themselves and relish in their own silent spaces away from the hustle and bustle of the world.

What a beautiful opening, almost hopeful. I disagree with the comments about it being unoriginal. I’ve never smelled anything like this. It invokes a genuine feeling of optimism. The name is appropriate. It’s pretty but with a bright depth. This would be an easy, inoffensive grab.

intensely citrus on first burst. dries down to smell EXACTLY like the seats of a car previously owned by a smoker that has been sitting in the sun too long (ask me how i know)

Very clean, bright, fresh, and pretty. But the fizzy lemon and soapy smell makes it smell way too much like dish soap.
