Fugit Amor

Fugit Amor is a sensual mix of spices with carnation—mixed with a little soap (emphasis on little). I mostly pick up woods and spices, the carnation feels subtly blended, either that, or it’s coming off as one of the spice notes—and it works. I really enjoy wearing this on the last day of summer. This is a soft, comforting, unisex scent, feeling much like a mountain spa at an upscale resort. Projection is low, but I often find I want that over a big diva scent with massive trail. Fugit Amor is classy. And beautiful. And I wish I could add it to my collection, but I can’t buy everything I want.

Tested it on paper. If like me you stop by flowershops to smell carnations, this is a very good fragrance. However, passed the initial wow-effect, it is not perfect: there is a green almost hemlock-smelling component to it, and the next day the left-over is a bit acrid sunscreen smell reminiscent to me of aldehydes.

I had tears in my eyes when I first smelled this on my skin, it's exactly how I have always wanted to smell - spicy, warm, slightly powdery yet complex. It immediately made me feel nostalgic for something from my childhood that I couldn't and still can't put a finger on. I think this may be my signature scent...

It's my second fragrance from Jul et Mad, after Stilettos on Lex and I'm not disappointed. Definitely unisex, maybe even a bit on the masculine side. To my nose this is a mix of exotic spices, carnation and incense, though not listed in the olfactory pyramid. It has a cooling effect on me, strangely enough, despite all of its "warm" notes. There's also an expensive aftershave quality to this scent. I think it works better in warmer weather if you're a woman, and if you're a man- try it in winter. Warmer weather makes it softer and emphasizes the amber note, while a colder temperature enhances its masculine, cold-spicy notes. Lasts about 6 hours on skin and sillage is excellent in the first two hours, then it settles closer to skin, without becoming a shy skin-scent though.

A gently spiced bubble bath of carnation. It opens in a fluffy and cooling cloud of cardamom and elemi, underlaid with a clean, slightly soapy musk that supports the whole fragrance. Then the carnation blooms, and it's absolutely gorgeous. Finally, a pale amber that's scarcely more than a skin scent reveals itself, carrying the harmonics of the earlier notes well into the next day if you let it. Fugit Amor is subtle, luxurious and quite unique. It doesn't project very far, but it lasts and lasts, evolving beautifully on the skin. I find this fragrance incredibly soothing, and the carnation note is really lovely. This is wonderful. My only concern is that I'm not well dressed enough to smell this good!
