Mon Seul Desir

The initial description that comes to mind is that it smells as if Amouage had created M7. Not similar in structure or notes, but with the same initial vibe. Mon Seul Désir has its own direction within niche perfumery. On the initial spray, the mandarin note is vibrant and clear, but it lasts only a couple of minutes. What follows, and what I detect most, is a resinous, smoky, woody amber, dark and luxurious in atmosphere. Everything is blended so smoothly that it gives the impression of an old tapestry, or an old wooden room in a castle rather than a church. A strong artistic interpretation of what is considered the Mona Lisa of the Middle Ages.

Peppery slightly sweet slightly dark amber with some spice (most a polite dose of nutmeg) on top of soft wood. The citrus helps keep it contradictory with some brightness and freshness more so nose to skin. Like someone spilt a diluted single malt on top of a wooden chipping board and some pepper. Absolutely gorgeous with decent sillage and 4-8 hours of play. If you want a warming masculine winter scent that says I’m a sophisticated lumberjack in brogues and pin stripe suit today - this is it!

One of my recent favorite finds. Slightly warm and ambery with the sweetness of the mandarin peeking through. Feels very well blended. Not a beast projector by any means but you'll catch gorgeous whiffs for a few hours. Will wear the hell out of this one all year round.

Spicy warm muskiness, a lovely blend of woody and leathery with a touch of fruity. It gets denser and spicier as it dries on my skin, like being covered by a thick blanket sprayed with this scent. Autumn and winter is perfect for this, lasts all day.

Classy, resinous and seductive. Head turner and compliment king. Stands out as quite unique, yet when you smell it, it's like "I've always been looking for this scent without knowing why"

MSD hugs me with a dried fruit accord, warm and spicy, before it hits me a cold and raw nutmeg, leather and oud KO. It’s an interesting fragrance, but i can’t help but feel there is just too much stuff going on in there. Spices, flowers, fruit, woods, vanilla, leather. And while the structure somehow remains monolithic, kudos to beautiful Stéphanie Bakouche, there is a sense of multiplicity that makes it difficult for me to pinpoint this fragrance identity. Each time I wear it I am surprised by its smell. I own it but I seem unable to know it. ***(**)

A well blended, peppery spice scent that leans slightly more masculine for me. It’s a musky, peppery, leathery amber with calming benzoin and I’m loving the nutmeg. Only the bitter-green osmanthus which doesn’t sit well with me, this bitterness is the only thing which I’m not too keen about. This is much drier than Bracken Man, as this hadn’t got that moist, earthy, forest-floor vibe. This is a dry, aromatic spice that’s powdery in the dry down. A strong like from me.

There is a hint of citrus as an undercurrent in the top and it goes on complete B.O. to me but then it develops into a lovely musk and amber. This is all musk in the middle and amber/ambergris in the base with a tiny flirt of leather to smooth it out.

Beautiful leathery take on amber and all the notes I usually love. This leans masculine to me, but it's gorgeous. Warm benzoin, nutmeg and pepper, fruity Osmanthus. Not too hard on the leather very wearable. Big like!

Smells to me like old wooden churches in Northern Europe

Why do I always smell osmanthus first when it's present? It's the flower from that tapestry: aged, preserved, immortal, not really a flower, more like a spiced honey tincture, a drapery, a thick syrup. This scent speaks of palaces, merchants and aged materials: fabric that was crazy expensive 300 years ago; leather and candlelight; imported fragrant goods from the East. Liquors, ambers and a drop of orange to cheer this faux royal mix up and to remind us that it's a contemporary creation after all. Unbelievably luxurious. Occasion to wear: shameless seduction.

Leather, coriander, oud. I keep on detecting these 3 notes with also some soap factor within. It has musk, amber, and elemi, and something bitter and I believe it could be bitter orange and nutmeg blend. I kind of liked it when I first sprayed it but later I don't think it is that much of a blast as it became kind of more bitter coriander with huge doses of bitter leather. I don't think it's that much of love boost.

Mon Seul Désir has a sharp citrusy-spicy opening that reminds of Dune by Christian Dior. The evolution is more leathery, less floral, though there is still a salicylate floral facet like in Dune. It could have been called "Dune Cuir de Sable". It is also reminiscent of Lapsang souchong tea... a smoked tea with a slice of orange infused in it.

Very similar to Maison Violet's Sketch, except that one is a bit denser and more vanilic, this one is a touch more floral. The notes are quite similar as well. I love the fragrance, but I'll have to pass since I already own Sketch and that one has just a bit more of that pleasing, buttery undertone that's just more attractiveve to my nose.

The most animalic and leather fragrance that I’ve ever smelled. I couldn’t get past the sweaty acidic and latex glove smell. This fragrance didn’t last long at all on my skin or clothes (always tested by others as I don’t count my own ole factory fatigue).

Dry down is almost identical to Dior Spice Blend.
