Beat Cafe

Boozy tobacco with a big dose of pepper and coriander enveloped in a very warm, resinous, amber heavy base. I do like Beat Caffe and seem fairly long lasting as first impression, but I would prefer to smell it on a male rather than on me. It puts me in the mood of MMM Jaz Club, which I already have, and I realised I don’t really wear that much. Comparing these two, Jaz Club smells more feminine than Beat Cafe. Has a floral touch in the opening and it’s vanilla based, a tad sweeter! Value for money is not quite there, Jusbox’s perfumes are pretty pricey for the amount you get. Objectively, a really well composed fragrance, more on the masculine side, very rich and expensive smelling. Fall and winter season appropriate because of the scent profile and because it’s a quite intense one. Really good quality! If you’re a guy looking for something that sounds like this, you have to get your nose on this.

2016.01.10 A girl friend of mine invited to come over and I smelled this on her. It smelled fantastic. She showed me the bottle and I needed to know what it was. It instantly reminded me gucci pour homme - a classic by gucci from early 00s. It is crisp warm a bit dark. You can definetely smell pepper, cedar even papyrus. For me personally it is a bit more sweet and feminine than gucci ph 1 yet in the same vibe. It lacks that somewhat dirty and even intoxicating darkness that its predecessors had. Not necessarilly a bad thing. A tamed beast. It is unisex so I might actually reach out fot this in the future. I can recommend this scent it is a good spicy cedar parfum with a touch of sweetness. Overall 8/10. Longevity and Silage is good it was very cold outside but I could feel it.

Judging from the notes I expected something heavier and more pungent but it's definitely not. The opening it is. But wait a few minutes and it becomes smooth and rounded and sits close to the skin which I wouldn't expect to find in a perfume that has leather, woods, tobacco, and cognac. It reminds me a little of Baraonda (although that one doesn't have tobacco I could always smell it in there) which I love so win-win because this seems more wearable too. It's like a child of Baraonda who grew up to 30 and now he has his own taste, but his father's class definitely inspired and awed him throughout his childhood.

Intoxicating wood bomb with complimentary hints of tobacco, leather and laudanum. The rest of the notes listed were really surprising to me, especially coriander. Masculine and sexy. It smells like a reimagining of an old fragrance. Like something the men in Mad Men would wear. Vintage woody, potent and smooth. Longevity and silage are ok but could be better. Fragrance is brilliant. All seasons, day and night. Safe but standout. Suitable for formal and casual occasions. Very manly. Very sexy. Very cool.

Another line in my search for a coffee scent. While this perfume certainly did not fulfill the coffee criteria it still wowed me. A beautiful and warm Woody scent that is silmoultaneously a little bit sexy. It develops beautifully after the first few minutes and lasts strongly for around 6 hours on me. It is insanely expensive but I have yet to find another perfume with the same performance.

Is it just me that smells like Black Phantom by Kilian, which I adore?

So it seems that this was inspired by Bob Dylan and the Café's from the 60th. I don't know much about either so...here's my take on it. The coriander is the first thing that hits my nose, after which comes a nice sweet tobacco with flavory cognac; this part is quite nice and warm until the pepper and cedar kicks in to put some spice on the table. An hour in and the dominant aroma is spicy woody. The late dry down is warm, spicy, woody and a touch vanilic from the benzoin. The name is somehow misleading as I was expecting some level of coffee in it, but I didn't get any. Surely in that places some coffee should have been drunk. 6/10

Also tested in SELFRIDGES. First impression is very good with ample of boozy cognac, vetiver, tobacco, leather and coriander. It's a pity that nicely fruity, wet cognac note is super flighty and immediately disappears. What's left is another leathery, vetivery, peppery cacophony that seems to fall apart. If find that both scents I have tried, very quickly fall apart after having a good first impression where every note was present. This one is somewhat more pleasant than the overly sweet vanilla sister "14 Hr Dream". Juice: 5/10 Just not original enough and there are tons better cents out there with a prominent cognac note.

Quite intoxicating masculine-leaning scent. It has an aged, dusty, character, like being in an old wood-panelled library. The cedar, vetiver and tobacco are the most prominent notes. The coriander and pepper sit on top to give it a dry spicy flavour, and then below there is a beautiful warm balsamic character from the cognac and benzoin. It makes me think of a sophisticated man sitting in an old study drinking a glass of cognac. I’m giving it to my boyfriend because unfortunately it’s a bit too masculine for me, but I think it’ll smell great on him.

Great perfume, to my nose very manly and classy. Upon spraying, very masculine, freshly shaved man even, but no cheap cologne aura. This note stays later on as well (I believe it's the vetiver touch) but very toned down. Refined tobacco and liquor notes (although not very aggresive), but accompanied with this hint of freshness. Only downside is it's sillage and longevity... on my skin there's a really short path to skin scent, and a tendency to fade fast which is too bad because it's a really nice masculine scent.

Beat Cafe smells like a more boozy Ecrin De Fumee or a much more wearable Private Label (or really a mix of the two)...a solid fragrance...black pepper, coriander, cognac, and tobacco are quite prominent in the opening...smells like unlisted dried fruits underneath...the base begins to reveal itself after 20-30 minutes...cedar, leather, vetiver...I had written this off initially, but it’s better than my first impression...the given rating is pretty on point

Interesting fragrance that smells good, but for me at least is just a little too familiar with other scents within the profile. The one, jazz club, halfeti etc.. I think that you can get cheaper alternatives, that being said, I rated it a like because it does smell good, but there is something in the background that comes out as a little synthetic, fortunately it's not a deal breaker. Full bottle worthy? For me, no.

i was starting to think i don't like tobacco scents, but this one is nice and warm and woody and blended very well. it feels old-fashioned and gives off a certain vibe that's hard to place. not unpleasant at all.

Opening blast feels like the same sweet woody slightly nutty smell of Gris Charnel before turning into a weak tobacco leather lite scent with poor performance

Smells like an antique shop from the 90s both in a good and bad way. I like the nostalgia and imagery I get, old wooden shelves , worn out leather couches , ash tray somewhere and a stale coffee or spilled coffee on musty carpet floors. But there is something synthetic that is quite bothersome and makes me grimace because it makes me nauseous, along with the alcohol smell . I would like it better if it was smoother . It does last forever though

This one has me torn. I don't love it, but I don't hate it. It is definitely a more masculine leaning scent but it's sweet enough that women can get away with it. It has an addictive quality that I can't stop sniffing it but there's something in there that I'm just not vibing with. I think if a guy was wearing this I'd love it, but it's just not for me.

I own Mr. Sam and this smells like you took Mr. Sam and left it stuck in the opening. I get no booze from this fragrance. Possibly in the bitter dry down, but all I smell is shaving soap or aftershave. Or like a powdery blue soap. Not sure if I was sent a bad batch, not a fan.

This is a bit perplexing. The ambience of it reminds me of when you walk into a shop in Route 66. Very old fashioned, yet inviting. Almost plumy in a way. Smells very nostalgic.

Watered down rum. Wet, stale wood, leather and not enough tobacco. The scent is weak and doesn’t smell like th some of it so parts. More of a Tide Pod.

Meh. I liked the woody opening but the leather-tobacco dry down is not something I’m crazy about.

Received free sample. Good opening but quickly becomes a skin scent. Not unique and ive gor others hust as good if not better with better projection. I'll pass on getting a full bottle.

The top notes smell like cardamom, tobacco, and alcohol. The middle notes have a floral tobacco scent. The base notes... oh, there's a strong chemical smell—everything but coffee.

On first application, I get a flash of piercing wood alcohol, then a quick mellowing to spicy creamy wood, almost gourmand without being in any way gourmand. The notes clash a bit, and the sharp wood takes over the creamy notes as it dries towards the fifteen minute mark, accelerating towards a jarring combination of custard vanilla and sharp wood that gets kind of nauseating. It levels out before I feel ill, but develops an inexplicable coconut vibe to go along with the pudding in a wooden bowl that has just been sanitized with 90% proof wood alcohol. I tried to scrub this off and won’t, so it has great staying power, whatever else I think of it.

The cedar and coriander are overwhelmingly strong in this, so an appreciation of those notes is a must in order to get along with Beat Cafe. The name evokes a smokey, boozy 60s hotspot, but the fragrance is more outdoorsy than that to my nose since I don't get much tobacco and even less cognac. It's all spices and woods sweetened with a touch of benzoin. It's a versatile, masculine-leaning unisex scent that I enjoy very much even though there's nothing wildly unique about it. It's with the pricing that Jusbox really loses me, though; at $200 for 78 ml, I'd expect something a bit more dimensional and special.

JUSBOX *Beat Cafe* and *Spring Dance* are among the very first perfumes I bought when I discovered the niche fragrances universe in 2022. Both were created by Dominique Ropion (Claire Liégent is listed on Fragrantica which I believe is an error) and they couldn't be more different. *Spring Dance* feels like Springtime* ~ *Beat Cafe* feels like Fall. After four years and (literally) hundreds of perfumes, both remain as two of my most favorite. Beautiful fragrances.....among JUSBOX's very best.

One of niche perfumery's best hidden gems. Beat Café has everything I love; boozy cognac, tobacco, leather, and woods wrapped in a warm, sophisticated aura. It feels like sitting in a dimly lit jazz bar with a glass of cognac in hand and music playing in the background. Beautifully composed by Dominique Ropion, it's rich, atmospheric, and full of character, yet rarely mentioned among the great tobacco fragrances. A true hidden treasure that deserves far more attention than it gets.

I don’t necessarily like classifying perfumes into genders but I have to agree with the other reviews. I don’t love this for myself (=female). This is objectively a good scent, it’s chic and elegant, but it also doesn’t feel very unique. I don’t smell the tobacco as much as I would like to. I also wouldn’t say that this is very boozy (which is good for me because I don’t particularly enjoy boozy notes on myself). Plus points for being cruelty free and vegan friendly.

I absolutely love these bottles; how detailed the grooves are on the vinyl record cap! As far as the scent goes, one of the reviewers below me said it reminded them of Jazz Club and I agree with that statement. To me, it's a lighter version of JC but with more of a forward mysore wood output. There is just a bit of booze-y touches underneath. The coriander is there but it's not acting out of place or anything like that. Very good scent.

High humidity does something strange to this. Inside in dry aircon smells like a run of the mill Zara mens fragrance of some kind. Outside in the heat and humidity smells straight up rum and coke. It’s not bad. I’ll finish the 10ml I have but definitely not chasing a full bottle.

Unfortunately, it feels like a diluted copy of Bvlgari Man In Black. It’s flat, lacks that signature spicy warmth, and the sillage is almost non-existent. After just thirty minutes, it turns into a weak skin scent. Save your money and invest in the real thing.

A Jusbox hit. it's like taking the best well-worn red leather lounger in the cigar bar and lighting up your favorite thick cuban soaked in a warm and inviting cognac. Drink in the scent slowly and savor the sweet alcohol laden tobacco. Lasted about 4 hours.

Starts as a big cedar scent, with hints of boozy tobacco and an almost soil-like earthiness. As it dries down, the cedar settles down and the boozy tobacco starts to shine - reminding me a lot of Bvlgari Man in Black.

Oud Malaki, Halfeti, Hacivat mixed with good old Spicebomb! I think is a pleasant masculine scent, but oh so redundant...I love Spicebomb on my husband, I don't think we need something like this.

I thought i was crazy when I sampled this. The dry down is identical to Halfeti. The opening isnt anything to write home about. Just get Halfeti instead of this!

Tabacco with a hint of green notes, spicy sweetness. Less cognac, more coriander and vetiver. Seems to be a no go for me. Mess in the bottle.

Great juice. I’ve literally just sprayed it and thought of blazing Mr Sam but this is sweeter and slightly fuller smelling.

Heavy boozy, woody, slightly tobacco-y aroma. Great lasting power as are most Jus frags.. Even survived a shower!

Perfumey leathery tobacco wood. I get resin on the end of an inhale. Meh.

Kinda smells like With Love by Hilary Duff, less fruity more patchouli

Dry down reminds me of Chanel Pour Monsieur. I have a weird nose.
