Nitchevo

At last i managed to find it! It's been around 3 years since i saw this blend here but i couldn't find away to try it! not anymore... i found a sample and here it goes. To be honest, if i knew that it's identical "La Nuit" by Paco Rabanne i wouldn't have thought of it or even try to find it. Now i know that "La Nuit" is an exact copy of "Nitchevo", just an amazingly animalic vintage blend with that civet, honey, leather, oakmoss, bergamot, aldehyde, narcissus, orris, and carnation. The only difference is that "Nitchevo" is a much amazing bottle than "La Nuit". And since i love "La Nuit" then "Nitchevo" is just a kiss from heaven.

Omg my mom had this, but seldom wore it so I used it up in my early teens. I was and still am in love with it, just could not get enough of this gorgeous scent. It seemed to seamlessly become part of my skin so organically. But still delicately floral, almost whimsical. A legendary perfume in my female family 🥰

Nitchevo has a special meaning for me - created in 1973. it was the first perfume I remember ever seeing/smelling as a child and later the most significant one for forming and directing my future (adult) taste in perfumes towards mostly leather/animalic group. From today's point of view this isn't a masterpiece - far from it - it smells rather outdated. On the other hand, it's quite complex and offers an interesting insight into some perfumery basics - it's a chypre floral with a very changeable mood. Worth trying. Opens briefly and bombastically with a loads of antique-ish aldehydes - yes, unnecessarily and excessively soapy and not very pretty, too - but shortly after, its' true nature starts showing; a butchy, rubbery leather soaked with castoreum and artemisia (Etro Gomma or Knize Ten style). This spicy herbal/animalic leather character lingers until the drydown, becoming gradually more and more soothed with soft amber sweetness... (Un)fortunately this powerhouse quickly looses most of its' muscles; abundandly applied EdT lasts 3-4 hours max. with first strong, then after 2 hours poor sillage (possibly due its' age). There's a rare parfum (as well as PdT) concentration wandering through the wilderness of the internet-auctions, I bet it's gorgeous! Meanwhile, my EdT? Old-fashioned, with some flaws and I have it for sentimental reasons mostly... but nonetheless it's one of very serious leather fumes in my collection.

Earthy, dusty leather with herbs, oakmoss, aldehydes and animalic sweetness. There's a touch of juicy bergamot, florals and spice. I agree there are some similarities to "La Nuit" by Paco Rabanne but to me Nitchevo is different and more dry than La Nuit which is very civet forward with honey and pimento. They're both aldehydic, animalic and herbal but Nitchevo is more modest; it's softer, cooler and earthier. Although a strong performer, Nitchevo is lighter in character than La Nuit and also well suitable for daytime/casual wear even though it has the animalic sweetness.

I'm actually using up my mum's vintage EdT bottle, and it still smells like it did in the 80ies, though slightly weakened.Its lasting power is close to zero due to its age. It must have suffered a bit, as it is a dab-on, not a spray. Still very elegant, typical for that era, well balanced. I don't know if it's me, I don't really get animalic notes, rather the floral chypre side. According to me, it's a classic late 70ies scent, that would have deserved greater popularity.

I have got to try this perfume!! The type is one that I love and also I have a pleasant association with the name, though not as sweet and sentimental as having a horse with that name! In a WWII movie, actor Theodore Bikel (one of my favorite folk singers) was told to invent a song to sing in a cabaret scene - he plays a Russian officer in the movie. When he asked what kind of song they wanted, the director told him to just sing about anything or nothing, so he just started singing Nitchevo over and over! (hehehe) I didn't understand the joke at the time, but when I heard the background story I found it very amusing!!

I had this for many years, originally brought for me by my father. Then my ex husband found a head of tiny bottles when on deplyment in Cyprus. That year (1983) we travelled to Switzerland and found it in a department store so I bought a huge bottle, only to accidently smash it on a tiled floor. I was devastated. If anyone can suggest something similar ....... I really loved it and made the last small bottle I had last forever lol

Not actually a review, but just a remark. It ́s funny, but the name of this perfume sounds like the russian word "ничего", which means either "nothing" or as a spoken language "ok" or "quite good, quite pleasant". Usually russians ask:" Ну как?" (so how is it?) and the usual answer is:"да ничего" (well, it ́s ok). That ́s why i really want to try this fragrance to find out is it really "ok" or "nothing" special :)

it means "nothing" in russian language.my cousin use to have it when i was a child and funny enough i still remember the smell.don't need to mention that i was using it secretly. compering to some new smells that i discovered later i i must admit it was nothing special,but for that era pleasant enough.the bottle was pretty though.
