#83 of My Fragrance Journey - Kajal Faris: The Knight Doesn’t Explain Himself I wore Faris on a rooftop one evening. One of those nights where the city looks better than it probably deserves to - warm lights, distant music, everyone pretending they’re a little more glamorous than usual. Anyway. I’m standing there, feeling pretty good about life, when a swole hunk - let’s call him Triceps Ted - leans in and goes: “Is that Sauvage?” Pause. “But like... richer. Sauvage that went to law school.” I laughed. Mostly because... he’s not entirely wrong. First spray sits firmly in that blue-fragrance territory. Lavender jumps out straight away - bright, aromatic, very clean. Bergamot gives it that crisp citrus lift, and there’s something fruity in there too. Apple-ish, maybe. Fresh, confident, easy to like. It smells polished. Smooth. The difference is in the texture. Compared to something like Sauvage, Faris feels softer, more natural. Less metallic. None of that scratchy shaving-foam edge. Same general idea, but... upgraded materials. Better tailoring. Same postcode, as Ted would later admit. Completely different tax bracket. Still, here’s the thing I kept thinking about. For the price, you expect something a bit more... unexpected. Faris doesn’t try to reinvent anything. It just executes a very familiar blueprint extremely well. Which is nice. But also a little safe. About half an hour in - somewhere between “how much do you lift?” and “what’s your actual rotation?” - the scent deepens a bit. Lavender stays in control, but warmth starts to build underneath. Nutmeg maybe. A touch of jasmine adds softness. It becomes richer. Smoother. More refined. By the time Ted and I migrated toward the bar, the drydown had settled in: vetiver, sandalwood, tonka. Warm woods, slightly creamy, very comfortable. Not loud at all. More of a halo around you than a cloud. Performance is solid, too. Eight hours easily on my skin. And the vibe stays consistent the whole way - clean, confident, masculine without trying too hard. That’s basically the story with Faris. It’s not groundbreaking. It’s not strange or risky. But it smells really good. Think navy suit energy. You won’t be the most original person in the room. But you might be the best put-together. Smells like a 80's/90's aromatic fougere. Very very fresh, airy, and bright fruity in the beginning. This unbelievably great opening is unfortunately short lived and becomes a very spicy fougere. It stays this way until the spices die down a tad bit, then you are left with a very woody drydown. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of how the patchouli is casted in this. No more than an 8.5/10. Good sillage, longevity, very nostalgic scent. Seems like everyone is playing it safe after the p-word. While I do understand how this is beneficial for financial reasons, one cannot help but feel that the current situation in the world has sucked out nearly all innovation and creativity that brought us to this beautiful and expensive hobby in the first place.. This is niche quality, niche branding, but ultimately a designer DNA scent that I undoubtedly have smelled on one of my younger uncles in the 90's. ( I am 31). I am only taking points away due to lack of originality but, as my friends and I have come to decide, the quality and blend of the scent is unequivocally its strongest attribute!

My experience with Faris is very different from the one vikingboy777 had. So as this user is very arrogantly suggesting that alot of reviews are "worthless", "to be ignored" & to be taken "with a pinch of salt" . I would strongly suggest his is too. As in my opinion his take is also a very poor one. Faris lasts a very long time on my skin, in the 10 plus hour range & it project's very well. This and Imagination are probably my best performing freshie's. I'm sure on some people's skin it will be different but on mine it sticks around!. I certainly won't be calling other people's opinions "worthless" just because their chemistry is different to mine!. It's not a groundbreaking fragrance but I think it is a very good one. It's got a nice richness & metallic tone to it which I think helps differentiate it from it just being a cheaper generic fresh fragrance. I can see why this is popular with alot of people. It's been constructed to be just that. Definately worth trying and sampling if your not snooty & a fan of versatile fresh Percival/Sauvage/Carbon type fragrances.

Faris is Kajal's interpretation of the blue fragrance genre. This takes elements from Sauvage (moreso the Parfum version IMO), Percival, Luna Rossa Carbon, Y EDP and a few others and combines them into one fresh, mass appealing scent. It removes the worst qualities from each of those (the screechiness of Sauvage, earthiness of Carbon, synthetic-ness of Y and Percival) and brings out the best. Sure, this might not be the most unique or exciting, but it excels at what it aspires to accomplish. Not only that, the performance is pretty good, better than most of its inspirations. At full retail, this isn't worth the money, but at a discounted rate I'm very tempted to grab a full bottle. Between this and Homme II, Kajal has two winners in my book. 9/10 Edit: Just wanted to note that this is very mass appealing; brought this and some other samples into the office today and several coworkers said it this was their favorite. So while it's not as edgy as other offerings out there, this garners complements and is very safe to wear everywhere.

Took me over a year to go through my decant. I wore this to work, vacations, dinner, date nights with the wife, etc. The more I wore it, I started to pick up Sauvage and PDM Percival. It has the pepperiness of Sauvage and "blue citrus" of Percival. It definitely leans "designer" but can pick up the quality of ingredients that went into this. Very easy to wear and is a crowd pleaser. Longevity is a solid 8 hours and 10+ on clothes. You can wear this year-round but might be a bit cloying in the summer if sprayed too much. I only use 2-4 sprays and is enough to get you through the day. This fragrance always puts a pep in my step and puts me in a good mood. I have around 10 fragrances I wear just for complements and this one of them. Blind-buy worthy 100%. Kajal is a slept on niche house, IMO. I have Homme II and it never disappoints. The quality and craftsmanship of their bottles/fragrances are on point. No corners were cut. Cheers!

Beautiful fragrance. There is a passing similarity to Sauvage, but the Kajal for me is less screechy and more balanced. Citrus, fruits and lavender come off the top, but the maturation is balanced by the juniper, nutmeg and rose that carry it away from the Sauvage similarities. Slight woody backbone that provides subtle undertone. Beautifully sweet ambers round everything out. Signature worthy and has become so for me due to the all season versatility. It may not have the uniqueness people would look for to be worthy of 200 plus retail cost, but definitely worth getting and blind buy safe in my opinion. A staple for me.

Don't buy Dior Sauvage. None of the presentations. (edt, edp or parfum). Get this instead. It is a frutier and higher quality ingredients scent, in my opinion. As soon i finish my 60 ml DS Edt, i will get a full bottle of this. This is just good. Spicy fresh, sweet, versitel, mass appealing, and you will smell luxurious. Last more than 8 hours on me with like 6 to 8 sprays. Compliment getter for sure. If you dont smell it at some point, dont worry. The scent will continue to perform and project. You just will get nose blinded by it.

I found this one with ridiculously good price (full presentation, not tester)! It has similarities with Dior Sauvage and MFK Masculin Pluriel. There is not much to say i think, very well blended, smooth, expensive smelling, masculine lavender perfume. Opening has an effervescent quality. Definitely smoother than Dior Sauvage but not as smooth as Masculin Pluriel. If you like Dior Savuage, you can blind buy this easily. Especially if you find it with attractive price. My score: 8/10

Faris by Kajal: aromatic from start to finish, extremely modern, and super refreshing. It conveys a semi-formal to formal vibe, but I can easily picture it in more casual settings as well. It easily holds its own against hyped refreshing fragrances. For instance, it's much longer-lasting than Torino 21. The metallic nuance makes the fragrance even more modern and refreshing. Extremely sophisticated for the summer. A beautiful composition, persistent and well-crafted.

Well i was so excited to try this out Its really resemble of dior sauvage Edt. With adding some spices and herbal notes that really catch up and remember some other fragrances such as Gentle fluidity,Sedley with amber sweetness in the base but what stays and finish with fragrances from opening to the dry down is the heavenly aromatic niche Lavender! About projection its a quite good average 2hours with 1 arm sillage and longevity about 8+hours

I was positively surprised by Faris. I really enjoy it, so grabbed a bottle. Its amazingly fresh! It really zings and it has a nice depth to the base aswell. It sticks around. I agree that Faris definately has Percival/Sauvage vibes. If you put those two together and added a sharp, fougere like clean freshness you have this. Being honest out the 3. I would chose this & im very fond of Percival.

I have to echo what others have said. This definitely has a designer-ish quality to it, and it's not unique. With that said, I really like the fragrance. You could wear this anytime, anywhere and it's going to garner good attention. Crowd-pleasing freshie with crazy good performance. I would not pay full retail for this. If you get a good deal at a discounter, you'll probably love it though.

Smoother and higher quality sauvage. Niche sauvage you could say. It plainly smells great. Addictive nature to these scent dna’s. Unique? Not so much. I got a decant from a website and the performance was great, got a new bottle and it’s not as strong. So you’ll have to let it sit for a while. Sprays it a bunch to get some air in the air and let it sit a few months. 9/10 stuff in my opinion.

I think this fragrance is great for what it is. Kajal's interpretation of this dna is great, especially compared to Percival, Sauvage & Luna Rossa Carbon. It easily lasts 8+ hours and provides above average projection. I will also add that jxespino is way off base with regards to Kajal III as it's an interpretation of Tygar's dna, not any version of BdC

As others have stated, this is a niche version of Savage EDT. Not unique but smells great (I love Savage EDT). Less metalic and more natural smelling but does not have the crazy longevity of Savage, at least on my skin. I have a full bottle but will probably not repurchase. I will just get another Savage instead due to the better longevity.

It's a citrusy take on Dior Sauvage edt. 100%. Less ambroxan, more lemon. Let's keep it simple, it's just like a summer edition of Sauvage. What's good is good, if a fragrance is popular does that make it bad? Sauvage is good, this is good. About performance, i got it new and didn't get to macerate it, it didn't impress me.

This is a really good fragrance fresh, elegant and versatile. Performance is solid. Got it for a very good price from JomaShop. I see why people are comparing it to Dior Sauvage but on my skin it is very different. 9-NOV-2023

Sexy AF. Lavender done correctly with the perfect amount of sweetness. I get 6hrs easy. Projection is arm length for 2hrs, then it sits close to skin. This is easily my favorite Kajal as of May2022

This is Sauvage Parfum on steroids. Beautiful fragrance.

Signature scent that will smell like something people have smelled before but never heard of. This is familiar but the brand is under the radar outside the community. Had tested quite a few of them lately and can confidently say Kajal is a hell of a brand! This has great performance, the presentation is impeccable for the price, and lastly it smell of great quality. One thing I love about Kajal is the atomizer quality - a great dispersive mist that will allow for easier projection, while this is still a moderate projector with 8+ hours on skin, which is usually more than enough for me. Paid $98 for my 100ml and really enjoyed the experience. Now, I returned this because I already own Legend EDP and Sauvage. Are they similar to each other? Yes, but in no way they smell the same. Sauvage (EDP is what I have) definitely doesn't have as much complexity as Faris. Legend doesn't have the quality and is much drier than Faris, which is quite fruity and rather a succulent fragrance, somehow. Between the two I'm comparing, they smell NOTHING alike to me. Faris is much fruitier and lighter on that ambroxan side. It doesn't smell as "synthetic" but it has somewhat of a cleaning product early on. Probably rebuying this once I run out of Legend but for now, this is too redundant to me, not totally in smell, more in application while I typically don't gravitate towards fragrances of this profile. Lastly, I prefer this over Percival by PDM.

The fact the top two suggestions in ‘reminds me of’ are Sauvage and Luna Rossa Carbon should give you a good idea what Faris is about. Spicy, fruity, fresh, and like Homme and Homme II this is designer leaning. Almost no one is going to find this challenging. Nothing wrong with this per se but the designer fragrances it resembles cost significantly less at full retail so I am failing to see the value proposition. It does smell nice, but distinctive it is not. After sampling 6 different Kajal scents I have to say they are mainstream leaning and have more mass appeal than most niche houses. There is nothing wrong with that, but it’s hard to see what its identity is or why one would pay the premium for scent profiles you can get elsewhere for less.

This is a more mature take on Dior Sauvage and I have to say I like it. It is drier and more masculine than Sauvage and not nearly as screechy with the ambroxan. I feel like people will take you more seriously if you are wearing this rather than Sausage. Not very unique but that comes with the territory if you don't like Johnny Depp Juice you're not gonna like this either. I does perform great and I do enjoy the juniper bote in the opening. It's never worth full price though. Unless you can grab it for less than 100 USD

To me, this is all of the positives of Sauvage with none of the negatives. This is refined, classy, not overly loud, and contains zero evidence of the screechy, sharp opening of Sauvage. As an anecdote, my wife hates that screechy loud opening of Sauvage. I recently walked by her and she said, “God, I love the dry down of Sauvage.” I had literally just sprayed Faris a few minutes before. All the good, none of the bad.

A hidden gem that I would recommend to any newcomers in the world of fragrance who are looking for something safe, unique, and reasonably priced. Fresh, somewhat spicy within the same vain as Creed Himalaya. This one gets a thumbs up.

Let me start by saying I love this scent and to me it’s a great modern man’s scent. That being said just like @merriman mentioned below it does smells extremely similar to Dior Sauvage EDT. Since I don’t own the original Sauvage this is a ok buy for me as I got it for a discount for a little over $100. But for full retail at $210 I don’t think it’s worth it. It’s very well blended, smells amazing and the bottle looks really good too. But for the price vs the scent profile, it’s still too much in my opinion with how many similarities it has to other designer releases

Very interesting release. It opens bright and refreshing. To my nose, the citrus, juniper, and apple notes give it an almost minty accord. It’s well blended. I do detect coriander with some florals in the mid. Nice dry-down, it’s what you would expect from the listed base notes. I see little similarity to Percival and very little if any similarity to MFK Masculin Pluriel, maybe in the dry down. I don’t get any Sauvage. It’s listed as unisex but leans masculine. Overall, I like Faris Kajal. The patchouli and vetiver on the far dry down is a little too dirty for me.

When people say this is a mash up of Sauvage and Percival it is. 80% Sauvage EDT and 20% Percival with a lot of added spice for a twist. I’m not a big fan of Sauvage EDT so this is not my thing. I wish it leaned toward Percival more. Amazing performance on my skin. Picked it up for half off and returned cause I just don’t like Sauvage EDT and I couldn’t shake it. But if you like that DNA then this is wayyy better. Wife killed it when she said it reminded her of axe or a body spray. That was the last straw.

I just want to say one thing. Some people say this has average performance. I over sprayed a new bottle I received yesterday and this thing went nuclear. My wife opened the car windows, I felt uncomfortable in the store we went to. I got a headache but couldn't do anything cause we were running errands. It calmed down in 3-4 hours but as Im writing this the next day I can still smell it as a skin scent. I guess on my skin this performs. I will be back for an actual review shortly.

No need to beat around the bush. This is a slightly more refined Sauvage with a hint of the Fierce DNA, period. People trying to detect more and making a bigger deal out of this due to its price tag, but it is really not that special. Performance is good and sillage is moderate. A good allrounder for every age and occasion.

Smells exactly like "Lacura Ferocious" (The £5.99 Aldi Sauvage dupe) - seriously don't let these shills trick you into buying this cheaper-smelling, less interesting, more dated Sauvage EDT clone. Dior Sauvage EDT smells like the niche, better blended, higher quality version of this, not vice versa.

I've just smelled this. It's nostalgic but not unique. It's a typical barbershop smell with the slightest hint of whatever it is that makes sauvage edt harsh. It also has a menthol mint note that's pretty prominent.

I'm not really a Sauvage fan, but I would say this is a bit better take on it. It's just an OK for me. It's seems to be a good performer though.

To my nose this is very similar to Aqua di gio but with a better opening. Smells great, but for me It is not worth the premium.

To me, Faris seems like a bit of a cash grab capitalising on the success of Sauvage and Aventus. It opens with a very sharp and masculine combo of lavender with an array of different citrus notes, and hints of juniper. You then start to pick up some spicy bitterness from coriander and clove, but this is only subtle. In the base, a fairly generic combo of Vetiver, sandalwood and patchouli take hold and lengthen the lifespan of the top notes. The quality doesn’t seem the best compared to Kajal’s other offerings, I feel like this scent lacks its own sense of direction. As I said, this bears similarities to both Sauvage and Aventus, but mostly Sauvage. It’s simply fresh and masculine with little interest or uniqueness about it. Good option if you just want to smell good, but you won’t smell memorable.

Dior Sauvage EDP + Some slight fresher notes, but awful performance compared to Dior Sauvage ESP 🤡🤡🤡. My most hated perfume from my 100+ bottle collection. The idea of a Niche house copying so hard into designer mass appealing scents is so ridiculous (Kajal Homme III is also a shameless clone of Bleu de Chanel)

Cheaply made and presented bottle. Cheaply made synthetic chemical composition. This is not a Niche fragrance but a cheap chemically produced fragrance from one of the factories in the Middle East. Don't be fooled by the scalpers pretending to be Niche fragrance houses. This is a €20.00 scent at best.

Ever since I got into fragrance I've been avoiding sauvage because its over done and over hyped so I was a little sceptical about buying this but I dont regret it. Im starting to hate comparing fragrances because there are so many these days ofcourse there will be similarities but for the sake of describing it this is like a more modern higher quality sauvage with a very clean masculine fresh feel to it, it has a familiarity to it but sets itself apart with more floral and fruity notes. My bottle has great performance 10+ hours, I put one spray on my chest (under my shirt) and to my suprise I could still smell it on my shirt after washing it. Could easily see this becoming my daily wear during the warmer months

Temperament, virility, courage and loyalty: these are the characteristics of a knight, which this fragrance wants to enclose in a bottle. And he succeeds, of course. This perfume is highly masculine, and I admit that in my opinion it is one of those that would conquer me over easily. Spicy, fruity and with fougere accents, a wonderful creation. “Portrait of Prince William of Orange” painted by Anthony van Dashorst.

Reminds me a bit of Dior ( i don't know about that)Sauvage but more Sparkling in a barbershop way. Very good longevity and projection. In the opening it smells pleasant and bright, like a Margarita cocktail. Probably full bottle worthy for me. Safe blind buy if you like that kind of fragrance.

This is one of my best fragrances in my collection. I love this so much. This is a niche version of Dior Sauvage that has way better quality and scent. I agree that it is like a combination of sauvage and percival. This is my top 10 best smelling frag and one of my best signature scents.

Opening is so fresh. Very fresh. I don't know what's in my skin that it only chooses certain perfumes that last on me. Anyway it is very good perfume. If it will last on you, it is perfect. Longevity 7.5 Sillage 8.5 Unisex Price is a bit over price if longevity willl not perform on you

A niche take on Sauvage EDT. I prefer Sauvage but this one is great too, a little less sweet and more on the intense fresh side. Overall a decent frag but I don't see myself buying a bottle, happy with a decently sized decant.

I have to be honest and say this is not a special or unique scent given the profile. Also projection for me on skin was pretty poor. It's not bad but nothing amazing at all. I'll pass.

It is a gorgeous and solid scent! Bright, sparkly, elegant, fresh, lasting. Not the most original one but solid.
