Bois de Yuzu

I love this. I got it today. I've been looking for something light but masculine, warm but sharp, expensive feeling, classic, since I lost the ability to buy Lauder for Men which is so sadly discontinued. This is not exactly the same but it will do. I always go for the Chypres, I used to love the OG Chanel Pour Monsieur, OG Givenchy Gentleman, the OG Armani Eau Pour Homme. They all had something in common, at least to me, they had a light crisp top with a warm and complex expensive/luxurious smelling middle and a nice woody/mossy ending which smelt beautiful for hours on my skin. At least that's how I remember them all, it's been a while since I've used some of them. I've been making-do at the current point in time with one of my faves Versace L'Homme, it really suits my skin and smells amazing when it's dried-down and is still available at least, but I think Bois De Yuzu will be my new permanent fragrance because it's more like all the others I used to wear and love over the years, and as I said, it really reminds me a lot of Lauder for Men in a way and I was gutted that I couldn't get anymore of that one. This is a fragrance you could wear anywhere at all, formal or casual, night or day, I guess it's more of a warmer weather fragrance but I'd still wear it in winter anyway only because I love it and how it makes me feel is the most important thing. Projection is not bad, it lasts ok, not super strong but OK, it (at least on my skin) doesn't change into something powdery or different from the original tone it had when fresh which some fragrances can do, so it maintains it's character throughout, it smells very masculine but light, classic but also timeless, and I would say it would be a safe blind buy if you already like Chypres. 9/10 Edit March 2024: Well I'm no longer as enthusiastic as I was when I wrote the above, the novelty wore off and I decided I wasn't as in love with it as I was to begin with. I still like it, but I think I got bored with it and because of this it's obviously not signature-worthy to me. As time went along and I wore it more and more, I was less and less enthusiastic about it. I'm finished with the bottle I purchased and have started looking around for something else to wear as a signature scent instead. Two things made it a disappointment for me, one was it just doesn't have the staying power I need, it wears off too quickly. The second is that it doesn't have the complexity I thought it did to begin with, it's too simple. It's nice, but not the perfect fragrance I'm looking for. I still think it's a safe blind buy and still think it's a good fragrance, but it's not the signature scent I was looking for. 7.5/10

A very nice, pleasant, fresh, citrusy, green fragrance. While it’s a little generic and doesn’t last long, for the price you can purchase a bottle, Bois de Yuzu represents a phenomenal value for money, which in today’s economy, I can’t say about lots of designer perfumes! The scent profile is catered towards summer weather mainly, being built around a bunch of citruses, herbs and soft , fresh spices, but it would work during springtime season as well. Maybe not the highest quality perfume or the longest lasting, but there are fragrances that smell more synthetic/ artificial/astringent than this 20 something euros cheapie. I got it for my husband after smelling it on several people at work as a casual, everyday, no fuss scent. For how it performs, how much it costs and how pleasant it smells, I would recommend Bois de Yuzu to any male, no matter the age, for hot&humid weather! It’s a simple freshie but it smells good!

I like the yuzu and ginger opening with a touch of woods. Perfect for Summer days. After about 45 minutes it darkens though and then it’s papyrus and a fairly inky oak moss. I was hoping this one would have stayed a little brighter throughout the dry down and been a Summer daytime staple of mine. Given that I only paid $16 though I’m not that disappointed in it. A year later: Over time I’ve really come to respect this one. It works so well in Summer and in Spring and Fall also. The yuzu opening is not in your face strong but also very present in just right amount. The oak moss dry down is wonderful. Will always keep this one in my collection. Superb value.

Bois de Yuzu starts with an energic and natural smelling yuzu blast that evolves immediately into a very nice and clean, unsweetened citrusy scent that is so refreshing and elegant at the same time, I think the ginger really elevates the top notes a few notches here. The drydown is a very clean and reassuring smell, that reminds me of freshly washed and tumble dried linen (is it what papirus smells like?). Office friendly scent, especially in the summer. A fragrance of such a high quality at this price point is almost a miracle; may not be a game changer or particularly innovative, but it's executed extremely well.

What can i say? The first time i’ve smell it at a store it shock me. Was the first time i’ve smell something like the Yuzu. Very citric fragrance who i love. The performance could not be the best we expect, but it is a pleasure to re apply. The Nutmeg is awesome and leaves a sweetie feeling the skin after several hours. Top ginger-citrus combination for warm and spring days. But i use it 24/7 man, i love it. Not getting tired of it. For now, my signature smell on this trip i’ve just start. And what a start with KL Bois de Yuzu.

Great freshie that will make you feel uplifted and lift your mood. The scent appeals to the audience. Longevity is only average, and sillage is nice and soft. Definitely worth a shot!

Zesty and bitter citrus yuzu that is very refreshing. It slightly reminds me red adidas perfume from my teenage years (Probably because of the ginger not) but this is definitely higher quality and multidimensional. I get some ginger and orange in the opening too. When it dries down post 2 hour, I can still smell the citrus with some mild green notes. Good projection for the first 2.5 Hrs and the scent dies out close to the 5 hour mark. Excellent value for the price!

not some cheap-smelling lemon citrus kinda scents.... I LOVE THIS!!! finally I can wear some citrus frags without smelling synthetic or dishwasher-like smells!!! love cos this does not turned to some sour citrus scents after hours of wearing, love the cheap pricetag, love the sillage, love the longevity, love the expensive-smelling yuzu, love the bottle, love that I could actually wear it to the gym cos this mixes soooo good with sweats! SO LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! ;p

good fizzy sprite and mint opening, good lasting power, gorgeous bottle, affordable price tag, smells more like 55 to 60 usd worth bvlgari line. amazing freshness and what you pay vs what you get is a straight up win, not niche quality or daring though. this is safe everyday scent for the common man, for work, gym and casual, whole line is worth collecting. yusu isnt so share as leau dissey thank god, got vibes of Dior homme sport and l'eau dissey summer. 8/10

It certainly has a resemblance to L’eau D’Issey but Bois de Yuzu is more subtle, less “in your face” screeching metallic citrus (a whole new scent of the 90’s) I would describe Bois de Yuzu as an elegant cologne. With the lightness of a traditional cologne but the solid presence of a masculine fragrance. It’s a remarkable perfume, effortlessly elegant yet casual. No idea how I found this perfume online but I’m glad I did. Absolutely recommended.

I like this one to be honest. I have both KL Bois de Vetiver and Bois de Yuzu and from my point of view, Yuzu is better for me. I realised, that this EDT reminds me something or someone from my life, yet I did not figure out who or what :D But its definitelly a positive feeling. Its very very citrusy, very fresh, seriously, there is a little resemblance to window cleaner, but only for a very short period. 7/10

What a gem! Underrated fragrance! Great freshie that will makes you feel uplifting and such a mood lifter. The scent is pleasing to the crowd. Citrusy fresh with the yuzu, ginger. Compliment getter from people who loves this type of fresh frag. Longevity just average and sillage just nice, soft. Perfect for office wear. Should give it a try. Very cheap. 20 dollars for 100ML in Malaysia.

Indeed there is a yuzu, and something grassy as well, what reminds me of CH men, but more of Avon Urban Edge. Violet leaf is not listed, but it is definitely there. This is one of the fragrances, which are not pleasant in the close to skin vicinity, it is messy and rasp, but has a wonderfull sillage trail, like for example Chanel Egoiste Platinum does. Nice summer freshie, lovely.

I think Karl Lagerfeld lost his appeal, after the excellent fragrances in the seventies and eighties. But this one is quite nice. A realistic take on Yuzu, fresh and uplifting. Is it different? Alsolutely not. But its a good reach in spring and summer for a very affordable price. And a nice bottle too. One of those I will rebuy every summer, for not too complex ocasions.

Great scent, finally a sophisticated yuzu. Although the house of Lagerfeld hasn't been that great in recent years, the bois-selection has it live up to old standards again. Nice fresh and uplifting scent, ideal for spring and summer. Projects just well, only longitivtiy is a problem. That having said, I will buy another bottle. Bottle is nice too so no complaints here.

Another great fresh, reliable cheapie, 20$ for 100ml, performance is around 4-6 hours with some projection for 1-2 hours and then leans more intimate, but you can overspray it just fine at this price. Great for going out with friends, spring and summer days, more appealing to mature masses but as a teen it just grew on me.

At first, it seemed weak with bad sillage. But after wearing this a bit longer, you realize that this is a true hidden gem with absolute amazing drydown that stays on your skin for >12 hours. This is sophisticated, fresch and deep without being offensive. Love it!

I feel like it gives off a 90’s vibe, maybe beause of the yuzu and papyrus found more in 90’s perfumes. As a child of the 90’s, it kind of takes me back to my childhood, so I find it very calming and conforting.

Super fresh scent different to the normal ones. My Mrs likes this as its not overwhelming her when she comes into kiss me but it sits on my skin for 10-12 hours intimately which she finds very sexy

This is all about the dry down. Initial blast is super citrus zingy and a bit too much. But give it time and it settles into a really nice floral and woody scent with some depth. Really nice

I didn’t realise the similarities after getting a bottle 2 years ago. Now when I use it, there is a huge resemblance to L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme. So happy with this!!

Very good option for a fresh aroma in Summer... this is a very safe buy, it is fresh, smell nice, the price is great and longevity is good as well. Very recommended.

I love it. Smells great to me, and not generic at all. I guess people think it smells generic because they compare it to classics such as Karl Lagerfeld Classic.

Out of the bottle this is nice. Very relaxing scent. I just got it, and haven't worn it yet. I'll he back with my thoughts after I do.

Very underrated and great value

Lots of people compare Karl Lagerfeld's Bois de Yuzu to l'Eau d'Issey pour Homme due to the same Yuzu note shared, but Bois is a darker interpretation of Yuzu, and more bitter. Somehow I imagine this fragrance to be worn during autumn or summer nights, as the bitterness does project a lot. Whilst I prefer l'Eau d'Issey pour Homme, I think this could be a good substitute. The best thing about Karl Lagerfeld fragrances is the price, which is always decent and worth the money. I admit I wasn't exactly in love with it upon first spray, but I didn't dislike it, either. It was, like, oh hmm ok, this would suit guys who like citrus fragrances but are in some ways more mature than I am. Oh and girls, please don't buy this unless you want to smell like a random guy at the gym. Despite being marketed as unisex, this is one of the manliest fragrances I've ever smelt. Also, projection is above average, at least in my dictionary. Personally I prefer Bottega Veneta's Illusione for Men and l'Eau d'Issey pour Homme, but Bois de Yuzu will remain in my collection as one of the few 'night' fragrances I own. (My criteria for 'night' fragrances is much lighter than the general public - I can't tolerate real 'night' fragrances like Paco Rabanne One Million and Versace Eros, so I make do with these instead.) Worth blind buying? Yes, if you're a man who's into mature and bitter citrus fragrances. And you get lots of value for the money.

Interesting scent. I am a huge fan of Bois de Vetiver, so I was very interested in this one. It's a much juicier Yuzu than is Caron's Yuzu Man (one of my warm-weather favorites) - that's a very dry. more subtle Yuzu, really on the other end of the citrus scale. This also has a LOT of ginger pop, almost pepper-like whereas the Caron is woodier. This does get some woodiness from the vetiver to round out the fragrance, but the main notes remain the yuzu-heavy citrus accord and the ginger as it moves to the drydown. I didn't get much mint, but that could be in there helping to give the ginger some of it's attention-grabbing pop. This is VERY linear - I didn't notice much development at all, but if it's as pleasant as this I don't really see that as a weakness. The biggest change to the drydown is that the ginger loses some of that peppery pop, but it remains distinctly ginger throughout into the skin scent. After a few hours you're left with a more generic citrus-vetiver aroma, but it's a skin scent we're talking about so not a deep cut. It remains very pleasant and that's about all you can expect from a skin scent anyway. Nice and versatile warm-weather fragrance - I am very much into this KL "Bois" line and I hope they come up with some more.

I had a 3.4oz of this and a 1.7oz of this and the 3.4oz smelled better. I think it was because the atomizer dispersed of the cologne better. Not really sure. I didn’t seem to pick up a lot of what I picked up in the bigger bottle though. I do prefer classic Issey Miyake over this, but this was a pleasant blind buy to try something different with some yuzu. As another reviewer said this is kind of a slightly more darker Issey with a bitter opening upon initial spray. It settles down on me nicely, but the Issey smells a bit lighter which is usually what I like in something fresh. It’s definitely more of a fresh spicy than anything listed above. Yes it can come off as synthetic at first because of the initial burst of citrus, but that goes away and leaves a light woody/green scent. It’s a great price and worth keeping on your shelf

Very pleasant and extraordinary blind buy potential (Especially considering the price) The yuzu hits you instantly when initially spraying this, without being too sickening and the drydown is quite inoffensive but is still distinct from other (very) cheap citrus heavy fragrances. I personally do not get much of the nutmeg, which is supposed to be apparent in the drydown, according to other reviewers. To me its mostly just woods and a hint of greeny, almost herbal, mossy notes. The performance is fine considering the price point and scent profile, but nothing to write home about. I still reach for this funky little green bottle, even though I have owned it for more than a year at this point, would recommend if you love citruses and want something a bit different, without going into debt.

Sprayed on my skin and it didn't last very long, tried again on clothes and it extended the duration by a bit. Almost no sillage and projection (there is some but is weak and just at the beginning for probably 45min-1h) but I have to admit that it smells really good and fresh. This is perfect for work if you also, like me, work in a public setting where you have to deal with a lot of customers every day face to face. It makes you smell clean but also fresh and a bit manly too without being too strong or invasive. The price/quality ratio is pretty good, great value for the money. Recommended more for day use. It smells like a fresh forest. A lot of green notes – moss is easily noticeable, then rosemary and bitter citruses like white grapefruit with ginger. It's a fresh & green & citrus scent. Elegant and refreshing. Very pleasant, very versatile, not offensive. It's quite unisex, but leaning into a masculine scent. It's nice, but it lacks something special – I would not buy this for my collection, after I'd tested it on my skin for a few hours. Its longevity is good, it stays on skin for around five hours, but a citrusy hint is noticeable on skin even after 20+ hours (with an hour of swimming in the pool in between); projection is good for around one to two hours.

Safe blind buy if you like men's fresh citrus frags. Easy to find for cheap, so it's worth it if you need an easy grab cheapie (perhaps for the gym?) Definitely not a necessity in a collection by any means, though. If you've got a fresh citrus you already like, this one isn't needed. Its not doing anything to make it stand out against the rest. Its serviceable and pleasant, but it doesn't excite me. That said, I showed it to a couple of my coworkers and now they're both planning on buying it for their sons (in the 14-19 age range). So potentially it's a great option for an affordable gift for pre-teen - college age boys. Simple and mass appealing.

The opening is pretty bright with yuzu, ginger, grapefruit, and mandarin. This is what the fragrance is about. Heck, it's even in the name. While it does transition into a mix of wood and spices (nutmeg + clary sage) the base falls out too quickly. There's moss, cedar, and ambroxan in the base but it goes pretty quickly (2ish hours from a previous hand test). I do rather like the open, but I'm thinking because of the short-timer mentality of it, this might go join the other quick draw citruses on my gym rack, where I expect it'll do really well.

great citrus smell, not too sweet. it does not have great sillage or longevity. however for 15 bucks you can spray it on a few more times each day. one of the best blind buys i have made, as i stated the price is below what it should be for the nice scent. you get the yuzu and orange straight away with a touch of mint and bergamot..the packing and bottle are better than the price suggest. my main question is always would i buy it again, and yes i will.this is one that is safe to jut blind buy at the cost.

Great smell but does not stay at all and hard to pick up honestly. The yuzu and ginger notes are very nice though, reminds me of this yuzu lemonade I tried in Japan so the yuzu note is authentic enough in my eyes. It is a summer scent and I have not tried it in warm weather yet though, at the moment I just put it on before bed sometimes to smell something nice while drifting off. AMAZING value though, only $13 for a 50ml bottle, was going to rate it 6/10 but I'll give it a 7/10 because of the great value.

It’s got a nice citrus kick in the beginning and I like the ginger. It’s better than a lot of cheapies. It works great for a daytime freshie, don’t be afraid to overspray a little and you’ll get 5-6 hours out of it. Some have called it weak, but I think they got anosmic to it. I put four sprays on the other day and a gal at a drive-through fast food window could smell me from my car. Scent 7.5 Performance 6 Sillage 6 Longevity 6.5 Value 7.5

So promising at the opening. Yuzu blast, like a fresher more edible L'eau D'Issey. Then, wait about 20 mins and everything has become much more like a lemon fresh scent. So, if you like lemon-like fragrances with a touch of yuzu that's what it will be like most of the time you wear it. Shame as the opening is great with that more rounded yuzu to it. For fans of yuzu this goes from 5/5 to 2/5 in over an hour.

This is a more older citrusy DNA. Like Nautica Voyage but better. It literally smells like a fresh cologne my dad would wear in the spring time while coaching spring soccer. Fresh, citrus , active and sporty. But just woody enough to be masculine. Slightly spicy. It does smell older and cheap but also for what it is, it’s nice. A dumb reach you can over spray in the spring. It’s a 6.3/10 for me.

7/10. Ngl for years I wanted straight up citrus and now I get it and I don't care for it hahaha idk wtf is wrong with me. It's straight up 100% citrus smell and a lil bit of spice. It ain't bad but also ain't great. I think could be used to mix with other things for sure. On dry down it gets more complex but still same vibe. I prefer Issey Miyake's L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme for Yuzu.

It is a nice fragrance. The opening is clean, refreshing, and uplifting, suitable for warm weather. Cleanness comes from green notes, so it has little aromatic edge on the dry-down I felt the smell of vetiver, which smells decant—quite a good one for the price. If you want a soft fragrance, for indoor environments, and warm weather it is a good choice.

Definetly an ideal pick for all the men out there who want to try something underrated. Affordable, clear and fresh. The citrus scent gives this perfume a different approach. I bought this one during the fall last year, when I totally missed the season performance. Then I realize it's a spring/summer fragrance. I warmly recommend it for those seasons.
