Karl New York Mercer Street

Karl New York Mercer Street was an impulsive, blind buy that is quickly becoming a favorite! The opening is slightly sweet, minty, and green. Very fresh and clean smelling with bright lime, sweet basil, and just enough white pepper to balance to two. The rhubarb blossoms nicely adding a tart freshness while the jasmine, which is very light, not at all cloying, adds a sweet floral note. On the dry down the musk is very soft and pleasant. Although I personally wouldn't describe this as a woody scent, there is a hint of a light cedar-like note in the dry down. I do not detect the stated vetiver note in this fragrance. To my nose this is a perfectly balanced, incredibly fresh, and very clean smelling fragrance. Unlike many similar scents, which can quickly fade into the ethers, both projection and sillage are good. Longevity is good as well with delightful wisps, fresh and sweet, wafting upward to whisper reminders of just how nice this scent smells as you go about your day. Completely inoffensive and perfect for the office. I highly recommend this for daytime spring / summer wear. Definitely the newest 'love it' scent in my collection. Update 26 May 2022: Each time I wear Mercer Street I receive compliments. Actually had a lady follow me through a store last week and, upon realizing that I'd noticed her constant presence, she said, "I'm sorry, Sir but is that you I keep smelling? That scent is amazing!" Wore this to the office this morning and within 3 minutes of arriving I've had two compliments. Love, love, love this fragrance and just ordered a backup bottle.

Of late, as a woman (allegedly), I have been delving into male targeted scents for a perfect aquatic, because the ladies scents just aren't hitting that itch for me. I picked this one up on a clearance shelf for $8.00. I thought 'can't lose for that price'. Well....I struck gold. Lemme tell ya - I have spent an ungodly amount on many bottles of designer and niche acqatic scents, but I just keep coming back to this underdog. He's fresh - imagine, if you will - You have sat through the hottest summer day. You're hot and sticky. You know the feeling. In laymans terms - f#cking gross. You take the hottest shower to erode the layers of sweat from your skin and finish with a blast of icy cold water. Spritz yourself with Mercer Street. Heat? What heat? I'm now sitting outside a breezy amalfi cafe, sipping a crisp G&T. I smell the salty air, feel the ice cubes touch my lips as I sip. Ahhhh....life is good. Then reality snaps me back. I'm out of the shower now, wiping down the toothpaste spit stains off the bathroom mirror courtesy of my teenager. But at least I smell good. Longevity and sillage is quite good on me, too. Perfectly unisex. ....will be buying backups.

Re-review: I agree that this is similar to Acqua Di Gio, but a more updated version (much better than all the Armani ADG flankers that came after ADG Absolu in my opinion). I can feel a touch more sweetness here. It also has that musky/smoky backbone that can be found in Paco Rabanne Xs or bvlgari PH Extreme. As it dries, it becomes even better and retains the fresh profile. It's complex for sure because I smell different things every time. I think it greatly balanced and no notes jumps out as a hero. I love that there is basil and lime in this, but they're not standing out. To me, if I had to point out something, I mostly smell the rhubarb, jasmine, geranium and vetiver to be honest. But it's really a ensemble type scent. Edit: Today it dawned on me that this is also akin to Van Gils Between Sheets. Great balance and fresh, just up my alley. Maybe not a beast performer like most of the real beauties, but as a scent I just love it man.

masculine and chic fragrance.. suitable for the spring and summer nights.. It have a very attractive note don't have it in any fragrance I had !.. may be this is the "rhubarb" as our friend Phil said !.. the projection is moderate or above.. I just tested it 5 hours ago .. till now I am still smelling my hand "very" well .. the sillage was the 1st hour.. I smell something remind me of "Armani eau pour homme" or the same style!.. I don't know but I like this one .. can give 8/10 and recommend for the brothers..🌹 ★Recently I bought it .. batch 05K15K086 (1st formula).. back to March 2020 .. it's really wow .. +8 hours on my skin.. 2 hours sillage.. +24 hours on the fabrics .. what else!.. 😍

This fragrance range got game! These are really light but last well. Most beautiful unisex scent ever. OK I'm joking but this isn't all manly. This is like a really well dressed person and you can't quite tell if they're female or male. So fresh, so nuanced,great sillage, smooth, lingering. Blended extremely well, not a blue scent. Not limey, not peppery, not really sweet... I'm looking at the notes and I can't place them. Overall a rounded airy, wet, aromatic but not green, clean. Totally good value compared to other high end brands

This is a bit sharp, tart and medicinal upon first spray, but then the beautiful greenery unfolds. There is an airy astringency throughout and it vaguely reminds me of the original Jaguar fragrance. The complex beauty of the other accords mitigate any sourness or pungency that may be suggested initially. The dry down is elegant and lovely and I can smell it on my skin the next morning. There is a comforting fresh note that hues the perfume in a delicate manner. Beautifully elaborated by the Lagerfeld perfume laboratory.

Don't know why this doesn't get talked about more. I get a photorealistic lime, but also mandarin and bergamot, in the opening, just a touch of basil, but the jasmine and rhubarb make this especially unique. Clean, fresh, like a linen shirt on a hot day on the beach. There is a saltiness about this that reminds me of driftwood, and just enough vetiver and sandalwood to give this depth and complexity without shouting their presence. If you like Lagerfeld's Bois De ____ line fragrances, this will be another winner.

Just sniffed this KL at my hairdresser and I really like it. It's fresh, little flowery with a beautiful fresh white musk. And the performance is very good for a 28 Euro fragrance (100 ml). So do I need it? No. Do I want it, yes. Perfect spring, summer office frag. The lime and rubarb are amazing. Received the bottle and I really like it a lot. Absolute gem. Performance is really good if you spray a lot wich is no issue because of the low price.

Light aromatic aquatic lemon bomb!! This is very, but very, good. A very light, easy to wear perfume, that has muscle, power and projection. Very good for summer, is light but also stays all day long, with outstanding sillage. For the price is a sure winner. Love, Love, Love!!

Reminds me of a cheaper "watered down" designer version of Etat Libre d'Orange - You Or Someone Like you. Smells like morning dew on the grass and flowers in a lovely garden. Fresh, clean and floral with a masculine touch. Beautiful...and great value for the money.

What a big surprise! The scent is really pleasant, something I couldn’t wait for. The scent is soft, fresh, wooden. Hard to describe what it smells like. It is definitely worth trying the scent and the price is surprisingly affordable too.

One word: beautiful. Unisex leaning but not at all feminine. Balanced and otherwordly. Slightly retro but not much. I really like it. Could buy it as a comforting day scent or for formal events.

Acqua di Gio, without the sea note. It smells like a higher quality, less spicy, Perry Ellis 360 Red. Smells amazing. Love it!

It smells really sweet, but not too sweet, even for a light summer scent. Mercer Street balances being sweet and floral while not being too light and having some (surely enough) masculine presence. The thing is - when we want to smell masculine, it's supposed to be harsh, strong, dominating and sometimes even overwhelming. Meanwhile this scent offers us a completely different side of manliness. Being soft, relaxed, caring and warm is also manly. One don't have to always scream around "I AM BIG, STRONG AND SEXY" to feel and BE masculine. Let's break stereotypes and show how floral, pink and almost powdery smells can bring out our delightful masculine side. Insecurities, straight to the trash! Good as an everyday office smell, it is a bit retro and modern at the same time. Great for a vacation in a relaxed, warm place. Even in hot weather you'll be fresh and not too bland. All in all, Mercer Street is surprisingly sweet and light but what makes it good is how long it lingers around and shows up it's different faces when you almost forgot about it. With passing time it's sweetness fades a little and it becomes fully fledged man scent, while still being what it was in the beginning. What makes me wonder is where is all the basil, pepper and especially lime? First whiffs are overwhelmingly spicy (and sweet at the same time) but it fades in a matter of minutes. Then we start to smell like flowers. How it is reminding anyone of a NYC, that's a mystery to me... Fragrance: 7/10 (it grows on you over time) Sillage: 6/10 I'd say it's not too overwhelming which is good for a light fragrance, altough for a summer scent it's on the heavier side. Longevity: 6/10 It IS there, believe me. Overall: 7/10 Good price, won't hurt to have something different from all those aquatic and citrus sprays on a summer shelve.

Mercer Street closely resembles Dior Homme Cologne, I think, except that it lacks DHC's pronounced lemony opening. Passionate fans of DHC might justifiably believe that the lopping of those top notes renders Mercer Street a linear fragrance of lesser distinction. And Mercer Street retails at around a third of the price which probably means that it is constructed of lesser quality materials. Or - the extra cost of DHC might merely be ploughed into fancier packaging and marketing? Who knows? We all need to be guided by our own skins, tastes and budgets. Anyway, Mercer Street for me is a crisp (but not sharp), easy-wearing unisex fragrance to spritz lavishly (the sillage and longevity are only average), useful for its casual elegance. Work. Lunch with friends. Meet the parents. First date on a summer evening. That sort of thing.

I've never been too keen on citrus scents, but New York Mercer Street is a scent I reach for a lot in spring and summer. It's subtle (no sharpness), juicy, energizing, sophisticated and versatile. Lime, rhubarb, jasmin and musk characterize the scent the most, though all notes come across a bit toned down. This also shows in the longevity and projection, but all in all this is definitely not a bad performer in my experience. Considering the low price, I'd say this is a very solid buy. ----- Got back to it last week and have to say... It feels cheaper and more shallow than it did in my memory. Citrus, musk, mixed with some florals. Think I'll only use it as a cologne for the hottest of days and maybe as a sports scent, but I don't think I will rebuy

This scent is for those mornings when you're getting ready for a day at work and you just need someone to tell you "it's going to be a nice day". No pirouettes, no worries, no sketchy requests. Classy in its simplicity without being boring. Easy to choose.

This is a very nice, office safe, clean vetiver frag. It reminds me of the dry down of JV Artisan XX in the way the citrus and vetiver work together. This one is just less sharp in the opening. If you like Artisan XX, you will like this one as well.

This is not your typical common ambroxan fresh watery fragrance. It ́s more old school cologne. I find it very well done, where you can actually smell the notes; and as I Iike the notes, I very much like this. Try it, you might be surprised.

What a pleasant well composed surprise. My nose resonates especially with its hint of rhubarb which brings original youngish and fresh touch. Absence of ambrox makes it stand out from 2020s men perfume introductions, well done.

This is a really nice pickup at a cheap price! It reminds me of a softer take on Artisan XX, with the clean vetiver holding center stage. Mercer St is softer and adds a slight floral touch, which makes it very office safe.

ADG, the OG. That’s what comes to mind first when I spray this one. But the ruhbarb and geranium sets them apart after a short period of time. This is great and without a doubt a unisex spring and summer cheapie.

Wet, green, aromatic, and unisex. This one really is unique. The lime makes this have a great opening. The longer it dries down, the more it turns into a grandma's hand cream scent.

I like it. Fresh and uplifting scent. Citrus and green. Safe. Great for casual wear and to work. Summer or overall warmer weather.

This is an exceptionally good quality, fresh, white floral scent with decent 3-4h performance. I agree about AdG being something this reminds of, as you would probably tend to use them in similar occasions. But Mercer St is more floral, less woody, more green-herbal (particularly the basil but the rhubarb is noticeable) and not marinel. Moreso, Mercer St is more unisex than AdG. The notes feel natural and natural up there with the Bois line.

It's pleasant enough, and the rhubarb is noticeable and delightful, but it has a touch of eye-watering astringency and it's a bit rote. Remember in the 80s and 90s how magazines came with fragrance samples? This has a solid wedge that just reminds me of half of the scents of that era, in their thermonuclear magazine fold mode. There has been some version of this general profile sitting near the check-out lane at TJ Maxx for decades.

just got this fragrance a day ago it is perfect for exactly what I bought it for if your looking for a grab and go fragrance than this is perfect its nothing insanely special it wont be a huge compliment getter (you will probably still get a few) but it does make you smell good fresh and clean something perfect if your just going to the store or just going for a walk it will be the fragrance I pick up the most during those occasions

Fresh and definitely unisex scent. 16€ for 60ml - it's a steal. At first it reminds me Lalique Encre noire sport. Maybe because vetiver is a dominant note. And I didn't like it because I hate Encre Noir Sport. But after a while there is something familiar. Sometimes it smells a little bit like Acqua di Qio. I have to say its boring (unisex) but maybe it gets better when the temperature rises. No wow effect, so I give this 7/10

Karl Lagerfeld Retirement home or Grandma's soap. Clean, fresh, floral, strange, citrus fragrance. I can smell only lime, basil, jasmine and vetiver. At the end more creamy than fresh.

Oh my Goodness, I'm in love! This fragrance is extremely beautiful! Very citrusy in its heart, but with subtle floral hints, a little powdery in one corner and vaguely aquatic. The construction is absolutely harmonic, gorgeous and well blended. It could easily be called "NUANCES" because everything is ethereal, "floating" and airy. It can bring sometimes a soapy/ shower gel sniff, or a fresh laundered and pressed shirt vibe. It also brings me a more citrusy version of Voyage D'Hermès EDT sense to my skin. Somehow, it takes me back in time on a dreamy atmosphere of childhood. This is not just a fragrance, it is an olphactory EXPERIENCE. Totally "signature" worthy. The fact that this is one very reasonable priced fragrance, makes it a NO BRAINER. One can do a LOT worse spending too much money. If Karl N.Y. Mercer Street was a "niche" fragrance, it would be worshiped in a temple.

Oh please...they threw some cheap stuff together and put a famous name on it. Super market floor cleaner stinging fake citrus. It has been diluted to confuse you about what it really is... Whoever owns the brand Lagerfeld now should find a way to bring back the best original versions of Classic, KL for men and maybe PHOTO. Let the dead be remembered by the living for what they did well and don ́t use their names to sell garbage designed by some noob.

It is really fresh and much better on me than Paris, I tend to go lately for unisex and perfumes for men as I like them more. In the end, though it smells like pickled gherkins on me. Not marinated ones, but more like dill ones in the old oak barrel. It's great for summer and in general, I am a fan of KL sents. It's a yes from me.

A good value. Citrus, aromatic that is perfect for having in the car or office. I've smelled this a million times, but for the price it is a no brainer. A happy Spring scent, sort of in step with Ferragamo's Essenziale Colonia, maybe a bit sweeter. This would make any men at any age group happy. A good blind purchase for me.

Very clean, very sweet and very floral scent - and to me, these are all positive descriptors, especially in high heat. The fragrance also lasts deceptively long, you will probably think it has faded only to catch whiffs of it for several hours after applying. All in all, really happy with this one.

Fresh and flowery notes. the Rhubarb in my opinion ruin the whole smell. it should be replaced with a heavier dose of musk or more pepper this way you'll have a more punchy opening or a better performance which either way is better. I'll give it 5/10 maximum.

Lime and Basil up top - I don't really sense any spices. The rhubarb and jasmine notes are VERY prominent, with support from a light woody aroma. Overall, the scent is very unique and I find myself smelling the back of hand quite often.

I like it, alot... But it is probably borderline, a musky female scent. It smells like clean, soapy, floral. With the tiniest background scent of something male. But for me, smells at the least, unisex.

Best cheapie out there! By a mile! Smells fresh, pure and elegant. You can get whiffs hours and hours later after applying. And sometimes its the lime, other times - the rhubarb, the musk. Brilliant!
