Kenneth Cole New York Men

This is one of the fragrances that I own and I am proud to have in my collection. It’s an early 2K fragrance and I was too young at the time to care about collecting colognes, what a shame though because I missed out on this one. I was too busy with club scents. Anyway, this is next to impossible to find these days and I’m sure it’s discontinued. I was lucky enough to find this over the 2020 holidays at my local pharmacy and it was collecting dust in the back of an unnoticed row. I have many other Kenneth Cole bottles in my collection and always love the brand because it’s almost always aromatics. You know when you take a shower and you come out smelling soapy clean? Not shower gel like but soapy? You know what I mean, just fresh, we’ll picture that but for about 4 to 5 hours. I dislike vetiver scents, as it’s a soapy clean type of smell that’s in a lot of dated bottles. I can appreciate people who like it, but it’s just not for me. In this one the vetiver is that same clean smell but it’s more of a passenger in a car full of other notes that take their turns driving and the vetiver is always just the passenger. Weird analogy I know, but what’s going on in here is lite, uplifting, fresh, and pleasant. It’s one of those rare moments where you feel uplifting while wearing it. I’m trying to compare it to something and the closest thing I can compare it to in my collection is Halston Z14, but it’s much better that that. I’ve walked into stores and random employees say to me; dude, did you just literally step out of the shower? Whatever you’re wearing is super clean and crisp. To me this is almost a perfect scent. It gives the illusion that you are much cleaner than you probably are, so you’re still going to have to shower lol. It’s not offensive in anyway possible. This is a home run for me and it’s a solid 9/10.

It starts with a spicy Vetiver and Lemon Accord at first, within a minute some Mandarin joins in. The Orange is fruity, not zesty. To my nose, the Vetiver is very rich, a bit dry, and even a little 'earthy' (but not dirty), and it holds on right through to the dry down. Very smooth. In a few minutes some florals join, Iris and Lily (sweet, like 'Lily Of The Vally' is) which is quite rich but not overbearing. The florals replace the citrus quickly. During all this progrsssion, a Sandalwood-Amber Accord is picking up some power, but the beautiful flowery notes hold their own against it for a respectable length of time. I don't smell any Black Currant, and no more fruits or veggies. When the florals do fade, probably somewhere between 1 to 2 hours in, the Sandalwood-Amber base gets a little bit soft and Musky. As the Vetiver gradualy fades, the mix seems to sweeten a little and any dryness fades away. It's a safe scent, but not generic. For me it has the right balances. Seems about average in projection and longevity. It's a little hard to find these days. It's a very nice scent, suitable for either casual or business, anytime, night or day. I received one of these bottles for Christmas when I was only 11 years old and I instantly loved this fragrance. I love the mandarin note you get with the first initial sprays but most of the top notes fade away rather fast and smells a bit musky after a while. I am now 28 years old and this fragrance has been long discontinued but I was able to get a very small bottle of this. Smells a bit dated but reminds me of all the good times I had while wearing this fragrance. I would definitely recommend this if you are still able to find these now a days.

10-15 years back, this was my aquatic, sporty counterpart to Chanel's Platinum Égoïste. I had several bottles but I really only needed those two, that was my dynamic duo. Amazing aquatic citruses, super versatile. PE was the classy, dressed up scent that I would wear to a formal or for business but I could pull off in the gym if I had to. NY was the gym scent that I could wear dressed up if I had to, they had each other's backs. Good times. Why you discontinue this gym gem KC?

This is my first cologne purchase when I was still a Private First Class in the Marine Corps. I took this one to every location the Marine Corps sent me, even during the invasion of Iraq in 2003. I still have my 2nd bottle and the first bottle as a souvenir. I wish they didn't discontinued this cologne. My overall rating 7.5/10

Adore this scent, even on a woman it is lovely, but I especially love it on a man. Very inoffensive and universal scent in my opinion, but something about it also makes you feel fresh and confident. Another wonderful creation from KC!

This is truly an amazing unique fragrance. Whenever I wear this I receive so many complement. I really wish Kenneth Cole hadn't discontinue this. It is getting much harder to find this on the Internet.

To me this is the best Kenneth Cole fragrance period. I’m almost glad it’s been discontinued only because still wear it and have the confidence knowing that no one else has this as their scent.

What a shame its discontinued 😭 Great scent and nostalgic due to great memories of when I was wearing it. Lets all ask Kenneth Cole to bring it back, even for a short limited time. 🙌✌️

I used to wear this in the mid 2000s. Even back then the longevity wasn't all that but the smell was perfect. Masculine, fresh, modern.

This is a very attractive fragrance for a man. If my husband wore fragrance I would get this for him!

I was lucky enough to find this at BigLots for 5.00 for 15 ml. I bought 3! This was my 1st KC frag and I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. The smooth citruses blend seemlessly with the tart fruits to make a combo that is neither too fruity or too feminine. The usually powdery "old lady" florals: lily and iris are toned down by the unusual mix of calone and red pepper. At this point this type of mixture would be way too femme for most but the delightful surprising vetiver in the top notes seemlessly weaves them into a warm, fresh uncomplicated ultra-modern juice that is grounded by a woody ambery musk, neither animalic or too synthetic. Kudos Kenneth! Sillage: neither too far nor too close Longevity: just right Overall: 4.25/5 This creation is a perfect signature scent for KC, not too fancy yet refined; simple but never plain. This is a true work of olfactory alchemy, where the lead of the basic notes is transformed into gold (a finished product truly greater than the sum of its parts).Since this is a understated refined scent using body wash or aftershave gel with the juice helps...

I am not in love with this fragrance and, I'm finding KC's colognes aren't that exciting for me. This is another fragrance that I use after I shower, before I go to bed. My name is Mike and I APPROVE this review!

Not bad but I think it is the powder (iris) in the dry-down that bothers me.

My dad wore this. I don't know how I feel about it. I remember it being acquatic, citrus and every melon on the planet. It seamed decent enough. Will have to smell it again sometime.

Over 40 male reviewer here: Surprised to see this frag even listed here. This was my "signature scent" way back in the day; if I had to guess, right around when it was introduced 2002. This was long before I knew what I know now about perfuming/etc. I last purchased a small amount online a good bunch of years back, but it did not smell the same. Since I knew it was discontinued, I'm thinking most everything now is a knock off. It's a shame. This was a very unique "freshy," (I am not a freshy fan at all...I usually can't stand them). I discovered this at the gym when an older man walked by. I HAD to know what his frag was, and he was kind enough to tell me. He explained that he gets compliments all the time. ...As did I, once I started wearing it soon after. People would literally follow me around. It was an outstanding fragrance, nothing else I've come across since is comparable to this fragrance. Just wanted to offer my "thank you" to KC for having had such a wonderful fragrance. Was kinda my late introduction into the frag world for men when I was around 30 or so. It showed me how a great frag can make you feel great, and how it can be such an amazing conversation piece/social tool. Not sure why it was discontinued, and at this point with my tastes the way they are, I'm not sure I'd buy it again regardless. But it WAS very special, and a scent that would just lure people in like crazy. I would give it a solid 9 out of 10. (I have yet to give anything a 10 out of 10).

This is a real soapy clean, shower fresh fragrance. I smell musky aquatic notes, typical of a lot of men's scents. What makes this more unique are the pronounced florals, lily and iris. They elevate the class of this scent, making it perfect for more buttoned-up occasions (important meetings, church, etc) However, it does have a certain sexiness quality, as witnessed by my friend test wearing it and having two different married women flirting with him that day.

My favorite summer scent. Watery, clean and crisp, this is just fantastic. I know it's a men's scent, but I love to wear it and frankly, the women's version is just overpowering.
