Flower Ikebana Sakura

Okay so I have a box that I put all my perfume samples in. When I first received Flower Ikebana I was disgusted and absolutely hated it. 🙈 I don’t remember what I even thought it smelled like. I’m just glad I didn’t throw it away! Today I found out My Way will have another flanker... It pushed me over the edge. I am so over brands churning out a scent profile to death and ticking off the boxes for every single trend they can possibly be apart of. I could go on and on. So I pull out my sample box, dig around and find Ikebana. It’s been at least 2 months since I tried it, probably more. I go with one spray on my arm... Omg! So good! How could I have hated this?! I’m not really seeing good reviews for it. I implore those reviewers to try it again if they can, test it with one spray. Me personally I am sick to death of gourmands, sick of designers just making variations of the same scent profiles. I want originality, I want something that isn’t catering to the masses. Something that would be missed for all its nuances and uniqueness should it be discontinued. I am so happy I was able to refresh my feelings with Flower Ikebana. I was starting to feel burnt out with the fragrances that are within my budget. The initial spray actually very quickly reminded me of Marc Jacobs Daisy. You know how Tuberose be smelling purple like the Daisy violets. But it’s more dense, not refreshing. It’s the perfect in-between of grape Jolly Rancher and floral, but don’t be scared!!! It’s not grape cough syrup or “old lady” or mature. It’s adult and sexy. I’m 32 and obsessing!!! I adore that this fragrance is strong and long lasting. It’s been 4 hours since I first sprayed it and it’s muscling through! 💪 😎 I have a feeling this will easily last my desired 6 hour mark, and on and on. The drydown definitely smells of sandalwood, but it’s not obnoxious. It’s blended perfectly with something else. The Sobacha Tea or the Sakura Blossom? I’m not sure as I’m not familiar with either. I’d say it’s a very light flower petal scent with the sandalwood so Sakura Blossom? The drool-worthy Tuberose, I still get wafts of it if I don’t pay attention. 😍 If you’re like me and enjoy grape candy-like Tuberose, scents like My Way Intense, My Way Parfum, or L’interdit Rouge... but maybe you too are tired of smelling super sweet all the time... want something DIFFERENT, you’re good with sandalwood, and love beast mode scents... then get yourself a sample of Flower Ikebana! I’ve done had my gourmand phase. I wanna smell grown and sexy. I’d say I’m in my sweet floral phase but I don’t want to categorize FI and dissuade anyone from trying it. Believe me this one is special!!!

This one caught me by surprise, an interesting take on cherry blossom. Normally, I associate cherry blossom with fresh-bubbly air fresheners. I find that it’s rather rare in perfumes, and even then, it’s usually incorporated into quite lighthearted, girly, fruity-fresh constellations that highlight its tartness. In Flower Ikebana Sakura, however, I experience a more sensual, womanly, and calm take on the note. The fragrance is quite linear, and more dense and rich than I assumed based on the packaging and the marketed focus on cherry blossom. In fact, while definitely noticeable, this isn’t a decided cherry blossom perfume to me. It’s nicely balanced with the other notes and people around you will probably not even perceive you to smell „like cherry blossom.“ Kenzo also briefly mentioned Jasmine in the heart on their website, which somehow is rarely listed in descriptions of this fragrance. I’m also surprised there isn’t any vanilla listed anywhere; I couldn’t find a review talking about that either. To me, there is quite a pronounced vanillic quality to this. Maybe it’s just a VERY creamy-soft sandalwood, but I also showed a fellow fragrance enthusiast, and he smelled vanilla as well. So for what it’s worth, to us, there is some vanilla, and the cherry blossom is rather tame. Those and the rest of the notes blend nicely into a very smooth, warm, cozy, sweet, slightly earthy floral that is also a tiny bit yummy. It‘s very feminine and sensual, can be worn anytime in any season. Due to the cherry blossom and the tea note, it’s rather unique. Ikebana Sakura is not very complex or challenging, but simply pleasant and inviting. I personally love it and will likely buy a bottle. :)

Amazing fragrance! It was love at first sniff, I can't help but wear it (and, for the first time in my life, overspray it!), and it immediately became my signature fragrance. It's warm and sweet but not cloying nor overwhelming, it's more like a hug from a loved one. It was perfect for spring but it is also suitable for the hotter temperatures of these days (end of May in Italy), and I'm curious to find out how it will perform in the middle of summer and in winter. Sakura blossoms don't have a strong scent so this is not a realistic sakura fragrance, but I think it represents the delicate and comforting splendor of hanami well. I also love the "Japanese vibe" of the soba cha tea in the opening (and also of the paper box and bottle). Morillas is always a guarantee.

Beautiful smell that makes you think you might have smelled it before. Very cozy and comforting like a nice hug. The smell is beautiful upon it's opening. Sadly on skin that beautiful floral/tea opening doesn't last and becomes more generic as it settles for a few hours. I still recommend it, I would definitely spray it on maybe an article of clothing instead. Still it is quite beautiful and very unique, I would recommend as a blind buy if it's on sale. 8/10. I don't think people would ever hate the smell, very inoffensive. Also I agree with the user GoodNose.

This is so unexpectedly gorgeous! I have sample of this, sprayed it after shower and wasn't expecting much. The first sniff stopped me in my tracks. This is a marvelous chunky tuberose ("pretty" type, without its fleshy aspects), softened by unique roasted buckwheat note. And then there's creamy delicate sandalwood. And Flower's signature powderyness. Absolutely lovely, hands down, this is the best luxe release of the past few years to me, but I am a lifelong Flower fan.

Very soft and feminine perfume. It's sweet with woody touch which is not overpowering. I thought I could smell something almond-y which seemed almost gourmand, but apparently I mistook the cherry blossom note for that. I love tuberose and I can make it out here but it's nothing like fruitchouli/floral gourmands in which you can usually find it. It has the overall Kenzo DNA I adore and it's not too generic.

Successful blind buy for this floral lover! Love at first sniff. Simply gorgeous and very unique in my collection! I get the soft delicate freshness of cherry blossom, grounded by the more heady tuberose, smooth sandalwood, and slightly savory buckwheat notes. This is very versatile, can be dressed up or down and I see this being appropriate for any occasion.

I see you cherry blossom, I adore you tuberose, you've made your presence known cedar, you enrich the drydown sandalwood. This is an adorable, feminine fragrance, light in performance so it doesn't intrude into other people's personal space, but altogether so lovely. That's all.

Love at first sniff! I smelled it on store than I went home and ordered. A very pleasant floral scent with elegant side. Must have for floral perfum lovers. Good balanced with sandalwood- this is the first Kenzo since 20 years that I bought. Nice job!

The most beautiful take in cherry blossom for me. I feel like a geisha in my kimono strolling under the blooming cherry blossoms. Dry down after 2 hours is like a bubblegummy cherry blossom. I guess because of the tuberose?

Amazing, one of my personal favourites. I like it much better than the regular Kenzo Flower. Warm yet not heavy, woody, comforting, classy and flowery yet not generic. Perfection in a bottle, for me. I love it.

This scent is easily underestimated, it's soft, feminine and floral. It doesn't last long, unfortunately but the scent is lovely, elegant and graceful.

Super creamy floral scent. I love it ! It definitely leans feminine but I could wear this easily as a guy. Performance is great.

This smells like heavenly spring. Very feminin. I usually don't like powdery, but here the wood overpowers.

I wonder why so few people admire the note of buckwheat tea in this fragrance... Maybe because it's quite unknown for most of us? The thing is that it's quite similar to roasted buckwheat that one can cook wonderful, comforting porrige of. And the best thing for me in this fragrance is just that! It may be a new trend, a couple of months ago I purchased a shower gel from Yves Rocher that smells oat and buckwheat (I don't appreciate their perfumes but sometimes I just adore the scents of their other products). It's literary like washing yourself with sweet buckwheat porrige :) I know it may sound insane but it's very enjoyable. And my point here is that the shower experience helped me to hear the note of buckwheat in Kenzo Flower Ikebana -- the fact is that I enjoy it more that the rest of the composition. It's a pity it doesn't last for long as it's a top note... The flower notes that last I find a little annoying. So it's a dilemma for me.

very beautiful light & airy perfume..........very elegant & peaceful..........im not sure what buckwheat tea smells like lol but the tuberose & cherry blossom are the highlight & it continues throughout or at least on me it does.........and i love sandlewood & vetiver in dry downs so thats a plus for me & for the perfume lol...............dries down smooth & soft........... perfect for day or night & any season but i would lean towards fall & winter - but light enough to wear spring or summer ( im wearing it tonite & its warm & humid & smells lovely ) i just love the flower line.........and this does not disappoint :) and i love the bottles !!! and longevity moderate & silage closer to skin - its not a beast perfume - its classicly elegant

I think it's one of the best mainstream perfume launches lately!!! It's the first one I'm testing from the new Ikebana line. And I started with the right one, I can't wait to smell the others. Sakura is spring-like, airy and light like cherry blossom petals floating on the wings of the wind. It has a sweet tuberose, bubblegummy, similar to the one in My Way. But the protagonists are the cherry blossoms. Realistic and naturally rendered. You perceive them with the same intensity from the first spray to the last hints from the subtly woody base. . It projects moderately, with a slightly above average longevity, similar to Kenzo perfumes. Congratulations, you did an excellent job!!!

HOLY WHAT! I was not expecting to like this fragrance as much as I do these notes don’t particularly call to me, but there is this beautiful, sweet uplifting aspect that I can’t quite put my finger on. It’s just gorgeous. I NEED TO LAYER HER!! Once it dries, it becomes this almost woody soicy sent, and I’m really digging it. Alas I spoke too soon! Has an almost medicinal note on the dry down that I am not the biggest fan. I still really like it though.

This is pretty! It’s sweet, floral and aquatic. Joyful and feminine. It’s not groundbreaking but it’s pleasant. Something romantic for hot days. It’s not like the original, this one is fresher and youthful. It’s worth trying if you like dreamy scents.

An easy, sweet tuberose. Has a young spirit. Flower Ikebana doesn't present anything new, but it is a pretty perfume, suitable for those, who, for example, find L'Interdits too much. Not similar to the original Kenzo Flower.

Like it a lot !! It's very pretty and youthful. I was really impressed by its scent because woody notes usually don't work well with my skin. For me, this fragrance has a very creamy but floral scent!!

It's a sparkly and dreamy fragrance. A little bit unusual compared to anything else I've smelt but it's quite addicting to smell. Less is more with this one, and I enjoy the enveloping scent.

Floral, feminine, with a gentle sweetness, this fragrance reminds me of early spring. I don't care for the buckwheat tea opening, but thank goodness it doesn't last too long.

I had this one before and really liked it. It's sweet but not too much. The tuberose and cherry work great together.

I didn't like Jeu d'Amour and I profoundly dislike tuberose - or so I thought. I do find this mostly pleasant, however. For the most part it is a sweet, creamy, powdery floral, very meek and tame. I do pick the "bubblegummy" accord in the opening but it stays only for those very first few minutes (similar to Toy 2 Bubble Gum's and just as short-lived), and then it goes on to evolve into a more classic Kenzo scent with the signature ricey Kenzo powder (if you've tried several Kenzo pefumes for women you might be getting what I mean.) But the longer it stays the less excited I feel about wearing it as it gets progressively less sweet and flowery and more woody and yes, musky. The musk with woods (I'm guessing cedar specifically) smells somewhat bitter and medicinal but that undertone is hardly as strong as the metallic accord in BR40 for instance, so for me it doesn't completely ruin my enjoyment of the fragrance. I just wish it would take a different direction and stay closer to the opening scent which I absolutely do love. Past that point it's just alright. Started reminding me of Shakira S a few hours in but even then, Ikebana Sakura uses better ingredients and has overall more personality with occasional subtle powdery sweetness coming in even when the scent no longer screams tuberose. Performance is disappointing although I'm using a sample so take it with a grain of salt. Feminine, versatile, simple without being simplistic. If you *think* you dislike tuberose, this one might have you two getting along as it did with me. Blind buying is not advised because of extremely musky drydown.

I deceided to try my sample of Flower Ikebana few hours before bed. The fragrance surprised me in the beginning, the tea is really prominent. But I would not call it tea fragrance per se. The beginning of this fragrance is really beautiful and surprising after reading few reviews. People described it as a pleasant almost boring and nothing special. I can smell the tea notes, something floral and also woodsy. The fragrance is really intimate, after while I forgot I even sprayed it. So the sillage is intimate to moderate, best suited for spring or summer. I was enjoying it but in the end it became unpleasant. I was trying to sleep and position my arm away from my face, so I would not be able to smell this fragrance. The drydown is unpleasant to me and I can smell it even after 10+ hours.

Flower Ikebana is very nice and smells like sweet flowers, in particular tuberose and cherry blossom. It is more wearable and less stuffy that the original Kenzo Flower. It may be one of the best flankers, along with my other favourite - Kenzo Flower l'Elixir. Ikebana is nevertheless a bit too flowery for my taste, especially considering that the tuberose is quite prominent, but overall it is a wonderful well-blended perfume.

I had my eye on this perfume for a long time before getting a sample. And I am so glad I only got the sample. When I sprayed it on, at first, nothing. My husband made a joke that it is a very weak tea. Jokes aside, after a while I got a very faint smell of tuberose with cherry blossom. The musky ending was pleasant, but way softer than Lumiere or L ́Absolue. What a shame.

Smelled it on store (on a blotter) and loved it. After a few weeks, I got it as a sample and decided to use it to go out for a lunch date with friends (which went on for most of the afternoon). I’m very glad I got it at a sample and didn’t buy it. The smell on my skin was totally different from the blotter and the drydown was absolutely nausea/migraine inducing (to the point that I immediately jumped in the shower when I got home). A good reminder to always try on perfumes on my skin before buying. :(

it's like a bomb of "too much". the flower notes are too strong for me and the wood that settles after just makes the fragrance more nauseating. on top of that, its projection is crazy, which in this case is not a good thing. had to throw the freshly washed shirt i had on in the laundry because i simply couldn't take it

I've blind bought it because I read that was similar to L'interdit and it was a huge mistake. There is no resemblance to L'Interdit in my opinion. It is quite heavy and cloying, it is a tuberose bomb - maybe the woods make it louder? - a monster silage and projection that causes discomfort, nausea and it is headache inducing. But to be fair, but it could be an excellent option for those who adore tuberose. For me, particularly, was a disaster. The drydown is quite woody, not in a masculine way but not pleasant as well. Got the 75 ml bottle on sale, which tells me that being a 2023 launch it may be out of market quite soon. I do advise test before buying it. I am sorry, I do not want to be an unpleasant man, but my review has some perspectives to help those who blind buy fragrances as I do, so the chances of regretting may be minimized.

I received this is as a sample from Sephora despite being a man, I received women's samples of Kenzo Poppy Bouquet and the Ikebana. Ikebana is lovely from spray to dry down. It strikes a nice balance between sweet and woody. The floral heart is beautiful and gives the perfume a lovely sillage. Closer and the creamy sandalwood and cedar with the touch of fresh vetiver is alluring and a tad sexy. I love to smell this on my SO. The price point makes it a great value.

I wanted to like this one so bad! Why? Probably the memory of kenzo perfume ads on TV in the early 2000s, nostalgia made me want to own a kenzo fragrance? I tried it and it was a "meh" for me. I guess I am not meant for this one: the longevity and sillage are too delicate to me. It is a spring flowery, pretty and airy fragrance, it depicts the delicate cherry blossoms with beautiful and light strokes. I did not get any tuberose on my skin at all

A single spritz of this is like an instant, pure honey sweetness coming from a heavy snowfall of fruity jasmine (not tuberose, as expected ;]). It is rosey and softens quickly, revealing juicy tart cherries on a musky bed. The overall impression is fresh and floral, but a little nutty, and has a musky depth. It is creamy yet smooth, like a cold cream mousse, and has a delicately woody finish.

Tried it today both on skin and blotter. The development has been quite different. On paper it smells like milk with a subtle flowery smell. On skin it starts with a sultry tuberose that turns nondescript in the middle but here comes the surprise: the drydown is like an old school woody musky floral. Lovers of a more classic perfume style should check this out, they might find it interesting.

L’interdît’s fruity floral structure but with tuberose on steroids, milky, heavy, and picturing on me a sapy gardenia note. The sandalwood’s creaminess enhance the buttery sensation. Lasts forever. Very interesting but not for a shy little heart. The delicate flowers on the bottle and the zen name are a trick.

Flower Ikebana is floral and warming, and it has quite a sillage. This has a very similar toasted flormand vibe to L'Interdit Intense, which blends tuberose and sesame while this fragrance blends tuberose with buckwheat. I like it, but I don't love it.

Usually not a fan of tuberose or vetiver but this is so beautifully blended and balanced. There's some sweetness, some tartness, some incense. Bright beautiful and now I need a full bottle because I'm gonna go through this sample really quickly.

Sakura ( Japanese cherry blossom ) is not realistic or similar to the real one at all but I can understand the ikebana vibes. Tuberose was not dominant, that was a good for me. However as a perfume I was expected something more spécial.

The top notes are really joyful and pleasant: a creamy and almondy cherry blossom. Tuberose brings a touch of sexyness and warmth. Then it gets really woody and almost dusty.

The most boring perfume I had the misfortune of blind buying. It smells as plain as water with sugar and pencil shavings in it. I returned it.

This is the most beautiful rendition of cherry blossom imo. So elegant, soft, but striking and a compliment magnet. Beautiful perfume.

Sweet milky tuberose with some woody notes. This smells lactonic and I hate that. I will be giving my sample away.
