Dirty Flower Factory

While Dirty Flower Factory may not be a fragrance I use regularly, it's definitely the one I can credit with being the real push I needed to start dabbling in my own fragrance making. For that reason, I absolutely adore it. It's so unusual and so transformative, that when you first spray it and close your eyes, you can instantly see the setting in where this scent may exist. You're surrounded by heavy machinery, metallic and rusty, oils and gasoline dripping from the loose hoses. Next to you, tables upon tables of flowers are being processed, probably to be sent off to a local florist. You can almost hear the quietness of the room at lunch break as the scent surrounds you, almost chokingly, during the first few moments. But as you exit the main processing plant during the dry down and head to the showroom out front, the machinery fragrance fades a bit and you're met with something more warm; beautiful florals of many different varieties and strengths. In order to take fun olfactory adventures like this though, you have to be willing to go there by really leaning into your sense of smell and using your imagination. People seeking a quick fix of something that just "smells good" will miss out on a lot of really cool experiences if they're unwilling to let them happen! All in all, DFF may not be for everyone, that much is true. But it's storytelling is one of a kind and proves yet again that among fragrance houses that take you places, Kerosene is one of the absolute best.

Oh wow, this is incredibly strong! I‘ve ordered a sample pack and put a tiny drop on my hand, just to see what it smells like. It so strong, my entire kitchen got filled up with it‘s smell! It reminds me of a sweet, flowery type of smell and also some vintage perfumes that I used to smell on older women when I was a kid. For me; this doesn‘t really smell dirty but rather sweet, floral and powdery. There is no dirty and/or weird/unpleasant note in this. For some reason I really like it, although not for myself. If I could afford a full bottle, I‘d buy it for my girlfriend because it just smells so good. It has some artificial smell to it and I‘d imagine it to get just slightly annoying, considering it‘s just so incredibly strong. I probably won‘t do a long term test on it though, simply because it‘s not really something for me to wear. It also reminds me of Tom Ford‘s Costa Azzurra, just a lot stronger and honestly just better, for about half the price. It‘s a safe blind buy if you‘re looking for a floral scent but honestly I‘d rather get a Kerosene sample pack and try them out, just because they‘ve got some really good stuff.

This is one of the first samples I ordered when I first got into fragrance as a hobby during the pandemic. I listened to a podcast about perfume that featured Tigerlily Perfume (now Ministry of Scent), which piqued my interest and instantly ordered some of the cult hits featured on their site. I swore I was someone who hated florals before trying this, but ironically this is the only full bottle of perfume I own. "Dirty" and "Factory" are somehow spot on here -- theres a wet soil aspect and something I can't place that evokes machinery. I find myself smelling my wrist all day when I wear this and it lasts ALL day. This is the only perfume I've tried where I need to step outside to spray it because one spritz fills the room for hours. This is one of the scents that got me to appreciate perfume as an art and it's always going to have a sentimental place in my collection -- this instantly brings me back to the summer of 2020 and those long days staving off boredom at the park, and spraying this on myself before walking out the door to bring myself a little joy amid all the uncertainty.

I adore this – but I definitely get how it is not for everyone. It’s an odd combo of notes; not so much re the pyramid, but the way the unabashedly evolve. Or rather, explode. This perfume reminds me of the live/work space of a nihilistic metal sculpture slash leather worker, who’s got jasmine flowers and roses in various states of both bloom and decay all around the place, mingling with heavy hitting wafts of chili plants growing throughout the yard. While this may not be the most elegant description, it’s all I’ve got, as much of what I get sniffing this is indescribable. I find this to be quite wearable, although I can see how it might be a bit much for some (depending on where you work). From the moment I smelled this in a [my fave] niche boutique in SF, I purchased it immediately. I purchased this in late 2017 and it has only gotten better with age, like a robust wine, which is quite impressive. It was – and is still – unique and unapologetic. There is nothing like this in my collection.

I LOVE IT! This is a wicked smell. Yes it starts crazy, over the top, screaming.... The picture I see is actually a factory...packed with crushed floral petals and sprinkled with kerosene?? Terpenoids? It's apocalyptic, majestic & completly out of this world. I guess few people will go crazy in love on this one, it's an odd combo. This evolves slowly into a nice floral Bouquet with an edge to it. Completly redefines the rose category...Lots of Orange Blossom & Chilli pepper! Ambergris is quite prominent as well. Important to say I'm not a pretty floral girl... So this is perfect for me, but would probably turn off floral lovers... Pretty Machine is another offering from this house that is floral, but prettier. Safer blind buy if you look for some 'dirty' floral. Original. Everlasting, bombastic projection & fun. I find Kerosene amazing, but most fragrances although unisex, lean masculine. This leans femminile. Bravo!

I'm not a floral lover but this one surprised me. It's beguiling because at first it starts off with a soft, delicate and beautiful orange blossom but then gets dirty and animalic but not over the top. From there it gets woody and powdery. I really like this one but I'll need to test it further to see if I can pull it off as a man. This is a beautiful well mannered woman that's got a wild and playful spirit hidden away. She can be refined and charming but has a wild side, can drink guys under the table, and thinks cow tipping is fun. It's clean, dirty, fun and interesting. These are the kinds of strange fragrances I enjoy exploring. . Scent 8.2/10 Performance TBD

Lovely perfume very Well describes by name... This is a dirty flower! Orange blossom and Jasmine, which are a bit dirty un themselves, mixed with some powdery rose. The pepper gives a dirty and spicy vibe which is inceased with pepper. Then the musk finish with a subtle animalic feeling which increases the longevity of the perfume Well blended perfume suitable for daytime during the colder seasons and for night time with Warner weather. Unisex but very flowery so, guys, try before buying. Not a subtle or delicate perfume. Great performance. Such a fun fragrance. First off, it’s predominantly an orange blossom scent with a nice peppery blast. Little hints of jasmine and rose weaving through but lots and lots of fresh friendly orange blossom. But what keeps drawing me back to this fragrance is the distinct “grease” smell. It’s very much what I would imagine a vase of orange blossoms in an auto shop should smell like. And it works. Just adds some charisma and light heartedness to the whole thing. Not really any sweetness in here and it’s a huge scent that lasts all day. And one that both my husband and I enjoy wearing.

Kerosene has done it again. Created a beautiful fragrance . I really love this one, it’s more than just a floral, it’s a unique and very nice dirty floral. I can’t stop smelling my wrist. And what I love most about Kerosene Fragrances is that they last all day. I’m a huge fan girl of Kerosene. I either love or like every fragrance that Mr Pegg has created. I have about 10 myself. With back ups. Still, everyone has their own tastes in perfumes so I always suggest sampling first. And Keeosene does offer samples for sale. I bought the whole pack and found my favorites.

Most visceral reaction I've had to a floral fragrance since Carnal Flower. The pepper adds a nice, interesting bite (but doesn't push it into wtf territory). Spray it, and then let the nuclear-flower fall-out fade away to big, blooming flowers on a warm day. I'm shocked that the nose on this hasn't been practicing much longer than he has been. He has a gift of working the materials and creating something new and interesting, yet gorgeously beautiful. This will likely be my next full bottle. I can't wait to try Kerosene's other work.

Another magical Kerosene creation. Does what it says on the tin: dirty flowers, but "dirty" as in, well, actual dirt. Soil, not skank. Typical tough-as-nails-but-still-gorgeous image that I've come to love from this house. Bless John Pegg for not ruining this kind of thing with patchouli. I agree with the reviewer who says this is like a modernized version of Joy. I'll specify that it's Joy without the poo drydown. Turns out if you swap Joy's feces for a chili pepper, then hey, something amazing happens. I want a great big bottle.

So loud and unapologetic. Have I found the elusive signature I've been seeking? I thought I'd give Kerosene another shot after Unknown Pleasures didn't blend well with my chemistry. Lo and Behold this is so much better on me. I lived in Detroit 2 years. This is what I would have smelled like wearing a floral perfume walking to the bus in the.indistrial areas. That factory note dies off in a few moments and leaves such a white nearly aquatic sunshine. That is the brilliance of the story this fragrance tells.

This might be my most complimented perfume, out of a collection of 28. It’s floral, sexy, alternative to many sweet and pretty florals on the market. Someone on tik tok said this is queer femme in a bottle and I have to agree. Being a gay, cis man who usually goes for more feminine scents and that loves florals, this smells like something that is more unique for me. It’s been maybe almost a year since I last wore this scent and I just sprayed some on and am reminded of why I love this scent.

Dirty flower factory = Morpheus offering me the red or The blue pill. i take the red one ready to stay in Wonderland & see how far down the rabit hole goes lol. Absolutely astounded by the spices n floral I get. Two spray floods the room. I would be Remiss to say this wasnt anything less but breath taking. If your in The market for a masculine floral this is it :) or you can pass on it wake up in your bed and belive this fragrance never existed lol, take the chace you won't regret :)

Sprayed this on a paper strip and had it along with 7 other paper testers in my room, as my sister called out from her room that there must be an incredible flower in the garden that smelled super strong! It ́s a beautiful full floral scent with a very spicy and peppery opening. I do agree that it has an underlying metallicness that makes it grungy and unique, it ́s kind of what I wish Rammsteins Rosenrot would be. Longevity and sillage are both amazing obviously.

Testing a sample of Dirty Flower Factory and I enjoy the mix of floral jammy-ness with a backdrop of earthy spice. Hours later I get less of the earthiness with the florals still projecting strongly. Very awesome scent! Big rose scents are a favorite of mine and this one is so unique in how it wears on me. Odd, but to my nose Zoologist's Hummingbird is a arier sweeter cousin to Dirty Flower Factory. Love that one too!

How no one smells tuberose, specifically the discontinued Anthousa White Tuberosa’s grape soda-esque tuberose is beyond me. I love this fragrance. Lil bit dirty, lil bit green, lil bit mentholated, and pale purple. It gets constant attention from strangers or friends in the vicinity- it’s so specific and mildly cold but very assertive. It’s a gorgeously attractive person who is incredibly eccentric. Absolute win.

It’s exactly what it says on the tin, in the best way possible. Big, beautiful white flowers being pushed out onto a rusty assembly line in a crumbling old factory. So pretty, but also so interesting, and a little grungy. It has (like nearly all of the Kerosene frags I’ve tried) a quality that makes you want to keep smelling it, so you can investigate all the little nuances and things underneath the surface.

This scent is ridiculously good. Imagine being in a gardening store filled with pinwheels, garden gnomes, flowing bushes and potted plants everywhere, small bonsai trees, water features with babbling stones and the scent of jasmine tea and metal floating through the air. That is what this feels like. It’s dirty, it’s jasmine heavy, it’s musky and earthy and I FUCKING LOVE IT

All I get is jasmine and pepper. It’s not very well blended. Makes me sneeze. If they could just remove the pepper and tone down the jasmine add some labdanum and more rose. I am not a fan of jasmine. It’s vulgar and too strong. This one is a no way for me. My sample is more than enough.

I have a decant and considering buying a full bottle. This is a flowershop, freshly cut flowers, spring in a bottle. The pepper note gives to the fragrance such an interesting twist. It dries down to a very nice soapy sweetness. Love it

I really like this one. Not always a fan of floral, but this is striking and unique. It smells like Kedem grape juice to me, which is a beloved smell from my childhood, so naturally I am going to give this 2 thumbs up.

got a tester and omg I don't get many industrial notes at all apart from the opening notes, they fade quite quick for me but not a bad thing at all since I love the floral character. Will probs buy a full bottle soon

I really love it. It does smell like a "dirty flower factory." Nice job naming that one. I wear it when I want to feel sexy and grungy, like I just rolled around in dirt and then showered in flowers afterward.

I have smelled too many rose based perfumes , but this one ( oww yeaaaaaah ) , first sniff after 10 min sprayed on a paper . AMAZING <3 I'm sure some of these dislike didn't even smell the it !

The burst of white floral at the opening is outstanding. This smells vintage in the dry down but works for today. It is very long-lasting. I love it. I want a full bottle.

Feels like eating a bite of raw sugar laced with rose petals. I get less of the dirty metal on me so far, but I’m obSESSED regardless.

Genuinely gives grape soda to me

Wow! The opening is much sweeter than I expected. Reminds me of Smarties, the pale purple ones, or PEZ, like a sweet candy with faint florals in the background. I'm getting Easter church vibes with this, eating small candies I snuck into the sanctuary while fresh cut flowers decorate the windowsills, warming as the sunlight streams in. Like all Kerosene fragrances, I'm surprised by this story and excited to see where this goes... I'm getting more orange blossom now and it's still sweet. Wisps of white musk wafting in slightly softens the initial notes. 30 minutes in, the florals are pushing further forward but the candy sweetness remains. À breath of smooth wood is seeping into the base, sweet and steady. And it's warm, coming across so cozy I want a nap in the sunshine. 1 hour in, I'm still enjoying this and remembering Easter services. Sweet orange blossom floral with white musk, soft, warm sunshine. Is it the ambergris that makes it warm? Or the chili? I can't pick out either one of those notes individually... This scent is smooth. I didn't find any "dirty" or "factory" notes. Or is that the point? Like, a "Flower Factory", where flowers are made, is in the fresh outdoors, in warm sunshine, not a cold industrial complex. A natural space or open-air garden is "dirty" because it's not a sterile, cold, controlled "clean" environment... right? 4 hours in, it's even sweeter now. Much of the florals have disappeared and my wrist smells like candy! I never found any powder, dirt, grit, or metal... At this point, on my skin, it's pretty much grape flavored candy with a bit of airy orange blossom. So strange. I'm gonna have to ride this one out again. That was fun! I would have NEVER tried this scent based on the description, I'm not usually a fan of florals, but Kerosene constantly delights me with the novelty and details found in their scent stories. Testing DIRTY FLOWER FACTORY was a great experience! It required more thought than I anticipated. I highly recommend trying it yourself. Review of sample purchased directly from the house of Kerosene. UPDATE So I wore this again, on a MUCH warmer day, and I totally get a stronger green note along with motor oil in the opening! This interesting discovery faded off within the first hour and it once again became the fragrance I met before, with the grape flavored candy and warm flowers in the sunshine scent story. I wonder if cold makes it initially sweeter and then a hotter environment allows more top notes (metal/oil) to reveal themselves? My skin also usually skewes every scent sweeter as it wears... that's why I love how The House of Kerosene so carefully controls and balances those gourmand notes!

This wasn't what I was anticipating, but... in a weird way... I like it?... I can definitely detect orange blossom and rose, grounded by a clean musk. (It's not quite laundry musk, and it's not powdery, which is fine by me, but it's not too animalic, either.) After that, though, I get... a very clear impression of a sugary, grape-flavored candy (or non-carbonated grape-flavored beverage). My nose keeps detecting something that is a combination of orange blossom, musk, rose, and grape Jolly Ranchers. There's something carefree and joyful about it... it reminds me of being a kid... of the unbridled joy of youth... of summer days spent with friends... days filled with sunshine and an endless supply of candy. Yes, this definitely leans sweet on me. No doubt about it. As the hours progress, the flowers recede into the background and the grape candy scent takes over. (Not what the perfumer intended, according to the brand's description of this fragrance, but I appreciate the effect, nonetheless!) The overall emotional effect of this perfume is one of contentment, exuberance, unbridled freedom... even glee. It's all of those things in one package. As someone who did, in fact, wear Doc Martens for the majority of her youth, I can say with authority that this *isn't* what my room smelled like (nor does it resemble any perfume/fragrance I wore at that time), but there's something that draws me to it, nonetheless. As is the case with many (not all, but many) Kerosene offerings, sillage and longevity are bombastic. This stuff lasts, and it will likely be noticed. (That's one of the things I love about this house; a little fragrance goes a long way.) What I experienced was not what I expected (based upon the description), but it was quite pleasant, nonetheless.

“I’m a dirty girl” I say to my partner after spritzing myself with Kerosene’s “Dirty Flower Factory”. He looks at me wildly - like I’ve just torn his Mickey Mantle baseball card. “I better fix this”, I think to myself, so I double down and throw the wrench I have propped against my shoulder, like an extra for a “Village People” music video. It doesn’t hit the ground (as planned) - no - my aim is off. My aim is VERY off. I break a window and the wrench lands in our neighbor’s rose bush. I immediately hear a shrill voice “EXCUSE MEEE!” making its way through the hole in the glass. The scent of Mrs. Cratchit’s jasmine and tuberose enfleurage fills the room. No! Anyone but Mrs. Cratchit! Oh. My. God. I’m wearing a leather lucha libre mask, which I think was a mistake (but I digress). I don’t want to leave Mrs. Cratchit hanging, but I also don’t want to give her a heart attack. I claw at my face like a wild animal, but I can’t for the life of me remove this mask. I think it’s going to take at least two people to pry this off of my head, and my partner is still in a freeze-response. I crumple to the floor. “I’m not a dirty-girl”, I say to myself. I've made a grave error. And even though I now smell like metal lubricant from all that wrench-rehearsal, the room is filled with crushed rose and Mrs. Cratchet’s homemade enfleurage. What a beautiful aroma juxtaposed against such a horrid scene. I am left in a state that can only be described as...regretful.

I started my day wearing Frédéric Malle's Carnal Flower Body Butter followed by the Carnal Flower perfume. This evening, I sat down at my desk and applied Dirty Flower Factory from a sample pack I received from Ministry of Scent a few days ago. Dirty Flower Factory and Carnal Flower share a bold floral heart, both built on sensual white blooms and musk. Each offers a statement making presence, but their characters diverge. Carnal Flower is elegant and polished, led by lush tuberose with a cool green edge. Dirty Flower Factory, by contrast, trades refinement for dirty grit, layering jasmine, rose, and orange blossom with pepper and ambergris for a raw, spiced floral twist. They speak the same floral language to me, but in very different accents. Dirty Flower Factory takes that floral foundation and drags it into a more industrial, lived-in world. It’s vibrant, sexy, and a touch rebellious, the olfactory equivalent of flowers growing through cracked concrete. Where Carnal Flower whispers sophistication, Dirty Flower Factory growls with edge. Both fragrances are unapologetically floral and skin-forward, making them natural cousins in spirit. But their personalities couldn’t be more distinct: one is refined and elegant, the other raw and spiced, like two fraternal twin siblings who grew up in the same house but chose very different paths.

Upon first application I was shocked with the pleasant scent of Rose Water mixed with Orange Blossom water. If you're familiar with those which you add to fruits and Middle Eastern puddings, you'll appreciate that fragrance lingering. To my nose, they're the most prominent notes, equally balanced throughout the wear. The orange blossom reminds me of the orange blossom from Fragronard which is a good thing, it's not synthetic smelling. I do get a slight hint of spice from the pink pepper & an ever slight whiff of the lemon used in unknown pleasure by the same house. I suspect that's where the 'citrus' accord comes from despite it's not listed. It smells even better once you heat up and it radiates from your skin creases (inner elbows, behind knee caps). To me, this would be too cloying to wear in the summer time, excellent fragrance for any other season. I do pick up a soapy accord not listed. Must be from the orange blossom and jasmine. It lasted a good 6 hours before I went nose blind. I didn't sneeze, I think this would be a good fragrance for any age. Simplistic but competent with a smidge of spice.

Really good fun - against expectations. The spice and green notes get enough of a grip on the central floral accords to make the eternal spring-fragrance-pyramid grapple more interesting and a LOT quirkier than usual. I always love a streak of dirt to my florals - a bit of grubby soil or borderline-BO aromatics just intrigue me more than pure dewy-fresh approaches - so the ambergris and pepper in this really deliver. Jasmine & orange blossom are tough enough here to keep that big bully Rose pinned to the mat in static balance - a wise manoeuvre imho. Smells genuinely flowery without cloying, and despite its lush fertile loveliness, skewing a little femme in my view, would still work on any gender. Bright, happy, energetic stuff - though the bout doesn't last long enough - gone down to a mere wisp by 6 hours' wear. Not unique enough to justify the price IMHO, but a great go at a modern, un-cliched spicy floral for the open-minded. Surprise result: DING it's a winner, for those interested in exploring new sorts of garden-scent design.

To me, although it may be my skin, there are no “dirty” elements present. However, this is one of the most hyper realistic florals I’ve ever tried. I shy away from white florals because it seems that perfumes containing them always smell synthetic and headache inducing. The intensity and indolic nature of the florals is till very much there, but like my other favorite white floral Nasomatto V, it truly smells like these are freshly cut flowers you shoved your nose in. As for the factory note, I think that there is a very present metallic nature here. When you smell it on the skin it is almost stingingly cold in a way that a menthol stick would open your sinuses. I think this may be the pepper, which I think adds a lot of complexity and makes the fragrance feel almost a bit alien. Overall though, unless you’re thinking hard about it I would say this is just a very very well formulated white floral scent.

This a beautiful, and strong, rose fragrance. When I first sprayed this on, I didn’t think that I was going to like it. This was very sharp, green, and super-floral for about the first 10-15 minutes. The orange blossom is super strong and sharp at the beginning. Then it becomes a beautiful watery rose and jasmine combo with hint of orange blossom—those are really the only notes that I pick up after the initial 15 minutes. The lasting power of this is incredible, and as it wears on the rose comes out more and more. I don’t think this is anything new and innovative, but the quality is superb. The lasting power is excellent and it only takes a couple of sprays. If you like feminine rose fragrances, I would give this one a try.

The orange blossom and jasmine are strong enough in this that you can tell they're present without reading the note breakdown. I don't know if the peppers in this are responsible for the sweetness but the rose and the ambergris makes it a wet, juicy sweetness. The chili pepper is definitely there and its spiciness adds another dimension to the fragrance. I struggle describing fragrances heavy on orange blossom and jasmine because white florals all smell similar to me. This makes the pepper a welcome addition since it gives Dirty Flower Factory some character and smells good besides. I'd recommend this fragrance to someone who wants a white floral, rose fragrance but with a twist.

Any fellow geeks out there? I get Nier background-art vibes from this. I wish there were lilies rather than jasmine so it could be called Lunar Tear. ——- Given the wild variations in reviews, I wonder if this juice is sensitive to storage and time? Maybe people’s samples are arriving in various conditions depending on whom they’re buying from. This one lives up to its name for me, though. Primarily white florals and a touch of rose are what leave a scent trail, but if your nose is close to your skin, there’s something distinctly metallic, like damp change in your pocket.

I am a big fan of white flowers in perfumery. As they say, narcotic, intoxicating, and heady. I like the usual suspects of orange blossom, tuberose, and jasmine. Just not the jasmine in Jasmin Bonhuer from Guerlain. That one doesn't work for me. But the white flowers here are great. Toss in some ambergris and musk and you do have a nice dirty flower factory. I don't pick up the other notes. If they are present, they are so far in the background and are playing second fiddle. Like other Kerosene fragrances, longevity is superb.

These flowers have been galvanised and pierced into a freshly tilled flowerbed. Absolutely stunning on my skin. I've been trying to find a floral-forward fragrance that suits me, as most of them make me feel like I'm pretending to be someone I'm not, and this is probably the closest I will be able to get to it. A fragrance for girls who love flowers, even though they don't necessarily suit her spirit.

Why on earth are there no reviews for this yet?!?!?!!? GET YOUR ASS TO A STORE AND SMELL THIS STUFF! It's a FANTASTIC mix of dirty flower - just as advertised. Bought a flacon for my g/f for Christmas and it took ALL my willpower to not keep it for myself! It smells fantastic on her - and I steal some now and then for myself :-) . Fantastic scent - just like all of Kerosene's stuff IMHO.

Lust Lush’s more refined sister. Very carnal blast of jasmine with a dirty “crystal shop” stank underneath. Eventually mellows out and becomes a sweet and heavy floral bouquet with a hint of grape bubblegum. I get mostly jasmine from this, and it feels like a smoother Lust Lush. Long lasting, strong, bold, witchy, hippie, cool. I love it ❤️

Much more straightforwardly floral and pretty than I had expected. There’s a hint of saline ambergris keeping things from getting too airy, but it’s mostly jasmine and grapey orange blossom on me. Not even a funky jasmine! I might save my sample for some warmer weather and see how the heat impacts the tone.

I wouldn't put my eye on this type of fragrance normally, but I've got a sample and am very pleasantly surprised. I would call this a modern white floral. Opening is slightly spicy. If I haven't seen the notes I would assume it has lilac or lily of the valley. Definitely something to brighten the mood!

Dirty Flower Factory is a complex floral scent that is also perfectly unisex. It is definitely not a typical, boring floral and is quite challenging and layered. I tested this and the woman on the elevator with me adored it and asked what I was wearing.
