Unforsaken

LOVE. First spray opens up very citrus orange. Very similar to the scent of peeling a sweet orange - the smell of the oils and moisture within the rind spraying out. Other reviewers have said it has a "sharp opening." I wouldn't call it "sharp" per se, rather more akin to a very crisp aromatic citrus and a very light hint of ginger. This is really the only time I smell ginger in the perfume. It quickly has a creamy powdery vanilla to it that mellows the opening citrus orange oil zesty aroma...and the scent becomes a very dominant, very sweet orange that has a very subtle natural coconut. Behind the very sweet orange, a light creamy very natural coconut sits mixed with vanilla. The vanilla is very nice. It is lightly perfumey, almost powdery. I don't think I would call it 'makeupy powder.' It is better than that. I want to say it is slightly similar to the powdery accord that is in APOM (however the orange in APOM is not as sweet nor creamy as Unforsaken). I also want to add that the sweetness, benzoin and sweet orange notes in this remind me a lot of By Kilian Sweet Redemption. Not exactly like Sweet Redemption but definitely a similarity. The coconut in this scent, like I said, very natural. It is not a candy sweet coconut or overly pronounced at all. As the scent wears the dominant orange becomes sweeter, but it begins to give way to more pronounced coconut. It blends beautifully with the scent giving it just a hint of a tropical note without ever becoming a suntan scent or overtly tropical at all. It sort of skims the line between being a lovely creamy light coconut cream with candied orange dessert and almost a tropical scent, all the while being a refined, classy, beautifully elegant perfume.

This one is really beautiful but it doesn’t last. It’s definitely NOT any beast of a fragrance. Maybe many years ago when Pegg first started, his fragrances were strong. Not anymore. This one is so beautiful that it’s a shame it’s gone in half hour. On me it’s a nice sweet citrusy scent that is a true gourmand lover scent and I do love gourmands. I tried all 18 of his fragrances, many are weak and don’t last. All of the ones I love, it seems. The ones that I find repulsive are beasts. I bought a few bottles too, hoping for the best, since the samples he sells are 1/2ml and nowhere near enough to know if a fragrance is one you want to buy a full bottle of. What I find despicable is that he charges for these minuscule samples. And the only place you can find his fragrances are on his website. Not even anyone on eBay has them. Actually no, there was this one seller who wanted $130 for a used bottle. I told him for $10 more I could buy a new one, with free ship on Kerosene website. The nerve of some ppl. Anyway as beautiful as this fragrance is, it’s not unique as some of his others. And not worth $140 for it to become a skin scent so fast. Now if he turned this one into an extrait and charged more for it, I’ll be the first to buy a few bottles . But as it is. No. I put it on before I started my review, now it’s been 15mins and I have to smash my nose into my wrist to try and smell it. That is not good. That’s very very bad.

Oh Boy, do I love this! Tom For- uhh I mean Kerosene Unforsaken smells so good, it makes me want to get a bottle immediately. It seriously reminds me of Tom Ford Costa Azzurra! It starts off with a strong citrus smell, which seems to be something I really enjoy. Later it comes down to a less strong citrus smell, combined with some kind of salty, maybe marine or aquatic kind of smell? I also get some humidity from this. And while I know that you can‘t smell humidity, I just associate this with humid climate. It reminds me of the rainforest but also of beaches and rich parts of a beach town with fancy restaurants, surfers and golfers. I tried Black Vines from Kerosene earlier and I had to spray this right next to it because I couldn‘t stand it. Unforsaken helped me get through this! This might actually be my favorite one from Kerosene so far. It‘s just so good! Unfortunately it doesn‘t last very long on me.. maybe that‘s just the nature of citrus scents. But it‘s not that bad! Just less strong than other scents from this house, which are super strong. Great stuff! Love it!

This one is a chameleon on my skin. It starts with a monstreous blast of orange blossom and I am NOT a fan of orange blossom. I thought this fragrance would end here for me, with 1 try of a 2 ml sample. Oh how wrong I was... The fact that I own and LOVE a full bottle tells a different story. Once I let the scent settle on my skin, 20 minutes in, it starts to change and the mid and base notes come out. The fragrance does go from cool clementine to warm coconut vanilla macaroon. I smell mostly coconut and vanilla, but not the suntan lotion. It's drier, more of the dried coconut meat than the juicy, just cracked open coconut. This prevents the fragrance from going into the tropical or too sweet territory. I enjoy this fragrance all year around, but mostly in fall / winter. If you want a winter coconut scent, this is it!

May 1, 2023. I am trying to be more honest with my fragrance reviews. On paper, I'm supposed to really enjoy this one. I love orange and I love coconut. There is something about this that I don't love and I don't know why. I don't hate it and I wouldn't mind it in my collection, but there are others from this brand that I want more. I'm disappointed, to be honest. It gave me a stomachache after a while. There’s an element of artificiality. Reminds me of goo-gone. That really concentrated tangerine smell. However at the same time, it's addicting. Kerosene is, in my opinion, such an underrated Brand. Even if I don't like something, I have to admit, it's intriguing and interesting. Very high quality. As I'm writing this, I'm convincing myself to purchase it. Well Played Vanessa lol

Ahhh crud. This sample got sent to me mistakenly and I like it 😭 now I'll have to explore this house. This smells goooood man I would full bottle for this. I can see why people would be reminded of sweet redemption however this is more gourmand imo and SR is more floral. Zara Rose Marshmallow Candy could be a cheaper dupe for this actually, but that one is definitely heavier/more syrupy/sticky sweet, this perfume here was really able to achieve the same scent but somehow made it have just a slightly more airy feel which in turn made this 9/10 for me vs Zara was like a 7/10.

Unforsaken opens with a fresh citrus, but with a little bit of spice to it. I sense tiare, even though it's not listed, it might just be an introduction to coconut, but it's not tropical. An hour in and the scent is a citrus white floral, reminds me a little bit of Davana & Vanille by 100Bon, but not as potent. I detect no coconut, ginger or musk. After some hours, the citrus is very mild, vanilla appears and white floral is the main accent. This is a lovely fragrance, but it lacks character compared to other Kerosene fragrances. And the sillage is very poor.

Unforsaken is a “creamsicle” orange-vanilla scent, but far more complex than that sounds. Breathy, fluffy, juicy, bitter-peel-y, altogether delightful. The white flowers keep it smelling like a real perfume, not a dessert. Unforsaken dries down warmer, a sort of biscuit-y, gingerbread scent, though more abstract and drier than that sounds. Then the far drydown is sweet, melting vanilla and benzoin, with perhaps a floral touch. One of the most cheerful, charming perfumes I’ve ever smelled.

Imagine smelling a cake with vanilla frosting, coconut shavings on top and surrounded by neroli flowers. That's what I get from this. Although it opens with a slightly harsh flowery coconut vibe, it takes only a couple of minutes for the scent to smoothen out. Exceptionally well done fragrance that is certainly good for date nights. Spring, early Fall and cool Summer night kind of a fragrance.

Now this is bloody awesome stuff. I get a slight heady jasmine at the beginning and heavy orange orange blossom with a little creamy coconut kick. Maybe slightly medicinal at the beginning? performance just OK however, projection not bad at all and longevity around 6 hrs. I'm slowly working my way through Kerosene, I already have Unknown Pleasures & Follow, and I'm consistently impressed.

Words can't describe the feeling I get with this fragrance. To say Phenomenal would be a understatement Lol. Truly though another sweet trail for me to follow. Enjoying the development on the dry down and catching myself nose to wrist way to frequently :) if your looking for something sweet yet captavating I do recommend. Scale from 1 to 10 an easy 8 :)

Am I the only one who thinks of incense with this fragrance? I must have had some orange blossom incense when I was young because when I spray this on, I am suddenly a teenager again! Am enjoying my sample and am a newby with perfumes but this is definitely full bottle worthy in my opinion!

Even though tiare isn't listed among the notes, that's what I get most from Unforsaken. After the cheerful citrus opening, it transforms to a delightful tropical mix of vanilla and tiare.

After Unknown Pleasures this is the second Kerosene fragrance I've sampled, and although I don't love it quite as much I think this one is great as well. I can also definitely discern the family likeness (or trademark features): they're not much alike, but they share the same quality that I can only describe as "powerfully dense" - they're both very pronounced, very distinctive - and, at least in my eyes, very good. Unforsaken open withs a very nice blast of pure fresh and juicy citrus, but blink and you'll miss it: within a minute, the orange blossom starts to come out and take over. It dominates all the way through for me, and it's the kind that can smell pretty soapy at times - so to me this is more of a floral scent than a gourmand one. At first the orange blossom mixes with the other opening notes to form an almost candied citrus scent, which I think is especially lovely: it's my favourite phase. It's nowhere near edible, but delicious nonetheless, and that's the way it continues. After an hour or two the other floral notes, the musk and the coconut come into play more, making for a warmer, more "perfumey" scent with a little spiciness to it. This phase lasts for hours and hours and it's also pretty wonderful, never losing the focus on the orange blossom, which is a lot less soapy and bright at this point, and instead warmer, more powdery and more comfortable. In the late drydown there's that familiar powdery vanilla scent where so many (almost-) gourmands end up. Unforsaken doesn't last as long as Unknown Pleasures (which can keep going for days on your skin and for weeks on your clothes), but it'll take you through an entire day without problems. Sillage is just right: I'm conscious of it all day without being afraid of scaring other people off with my scent trail. As others have mentioned I think this can be worn year-round, except maybe on the hottest summer days. So I really like this one; I don't think my very small decant will be the last I ever see of Unforsaken, and it's only made me more curious about the other scents from Kerosene.

The citrus-peel oils really hit the nose at first blast! A bit harsh and jarring, actually... and then... as these subside (which they are wont to do), very-prominent petitgrain takes over which I find rather pleasant alongside the white florals- nice blending in the upper heart. The neroli is lilting and the tuberose nice and creamy, but I question the quality of the jasmine chosen for this composition- it seems a bit monotone to my nose. Aside from that, the lactonic tones accentuating the tuberose in the lower heart is quite nice... the hint of eugenol is intriguing and I almost missed it... I'm sensing a well-structured base beneath everything- also very good blending- the coumarin is barely discernable, adding a sweet, clover-like effect and warming the play between amber and musk. Do I smell vanilla or do I not? Honestly I'm not sure... John's potential for great subtlety really comes through in the base... I have a feeling he spent quite some time tinkering with it. Overall, a simple but decently-executed composition with just a few rough edges focused at the top- but I must say that, as the first Kerosene fragrance I've sampled and with the knowledge that John is just beginning, I'm actually impressed, and believe that we will be seeing some great things from him in the future. Definitely a strong "like".

Like many other Karosene fragrances, this starts with a slap that turns to a caress. The opening took me by surprise, very dramatic with hot ginger, bitter rind, and a heavier floral hand then I expected. There is also a fresh green note that flutters in and out in the first 20 or so minutes that adds to the unique experience this fragrance offers. I can't stop sniffing as it morphs on my skin, becoming a creamy dream of jasmine and coconut milk with a hint of benzion and white musk to keep it fresh. The brighter citrus notes fade in and out, playing mind games, like fairy lights. This is another lovely scent story that is uncommon, slightly strange at points, yet still very comforting. Perfectly unisex if you're into sweet jasmine. If you want an interesting sweet floral that magically transforms, buy a sample and embark on UNFORSAKEN. As a MUGLER ALIEN fan, if you seek a beautiful jasmine-amber scent that millions of people are not already wearing, this might be perfect for you.

For me this is a jasmine bomb. Smelling this blindly jasmine was the only note I got, with the other notes in the background being too faint for my novice nose to detect. It's a slightly powdery, very fresh jasmine. This fragrance is what fresh linen wishes it was. At the forefront are the white floral notes giving it its clean character. Next up are the citrus notes giving it its freshness. And then in the background are things like the coconut, vanilla, and tonka bean rounding out the fragrance to tone it down and give it its smoothness. I feel bad not picking up on the orange blossom note being a Floridian but this fragrance does pack a white floral punch on the same level as A La Nuit by Serge Lutens. If you like jasmine or orange blossoms I would give this one a shot since it's very well-rounded.

First blast of powdery sweet ylang ylang, clean and musky, followed by even sweeter oranges and coconut. It's a lush tropical floral but it's not thick or choking.... It feels very airy and sweet, almost gourmand even. There's a strange freezing cold feeling to this, like smelling a popsicle rather than a bouquet or even a drink with a tiny umbrella in it; I wonder where that's coming from. After a couple minutes, the coconut starts to really warm on my skin and takes over the almost heady sweet oranges, still delicious. Reminds me of Tom Ford's Soleil Blanc and hopefully this one lasts longer. Unisex but leans feminine and best for hot weather. 6+ hours later: The scent stayed on the sweet orange and coconut and is still faint on my skin.

Everything works wonderfully and evolves. There is a strong aldehydic potpourri smell at first, but then transitions to such a lovely beautiful vanilla, orange scent, that I love. This smell has such a story. I learned not to judge a smell by opening scents alone. Edit: today i smelled the jasmine. My coworker came close to me and the projection bounced off them making me think it was my coworker but it was me smelling like jasmine and a spice (ginger). If I were to rename this: portrait of a sexy lady. Because it is feminine leaning but so alluring, not just innocent florals.

It's ok, but something about it reminds me of Hawain Tropic sunscreen and an '80s car air freshener in the middle of summer. You get in the hot car and the smell is overpowering, almost suffocating. I got a sample when I ordered Followed months ago in the fall. Revisiting now that it is warm out. Heavy thick coconut, white floral and bathroom cleaner vibes. Not my jam. Gets better as it dries down. I will use up sample and see if anything changes for me when it is hot out. This may work well on others and on the plus side it's Kerosene so it has major sillage.

starts big and bold and masculine and weird. warm spice + coconut + a little citrus. hard to pin down in terms of day/night, or what season it belongs in. fills the room. transforms a lot as it dries down, at one point smelling like orange blossoms, then a little musty (that was worrying), and currently it's kind of like a gourmand coconut with a hint of maybe...vetiver in the background? overall, i like it. i...think?

Unforsaken smells like orange dreamsicle--very realistic and not the least bit chemically. I find it quite sweet, although not unpleasant. I wouldn't buy a whole bottle of it, but I'll probably use up the sample that I have.

There’s 20 other “beach/sun/neroli/sunscreen/Hawaiian tropic/soiel blanc/holiday/tiare flower/beachwalk type fragrances out there.....but this one has to be my favorite. Reminds me of Nars body shimmer oil. But stronger

I am getting Tom Ford Soleil Blanc with this one. A nice pleasant orange blossom and coconut. Has that same sunscreen vibe. Nice but will not purchase full bottle.

White florals, sweet syrupy orange slices, a smidge of ginger and yuzu, and some vanilla and tonka to round it off. From the notes you'd think this is a super girly sweet fragrance but something is pulling it back and i'm not sure what. Maybe the ginger... It has a kind of a terpy bitterness keeping it from becoming a sugar overdose. A nice summertime fragrance but i dunno if this is my vibe. I'd say overall this still leans femme.

Photorealistic clementines in the opening. As it goes on, heady, almost dry orange blossom and jasmine take over. The “dryness” extends to the coconut. I don’t get yuzu or hardly any sweetness with this one. No ginger either. Huge silage and eternal projection. This house is so interesting!

I really thought I'd like this based on all the positive reviews but I've tried my sample several times and I'm disappointed. I guess what I imagined was a tropical dessert: milky, creamy coconut pudding scented with orange flower water and garnished with some orange and ginger zest. It's really quite true to the listed notes but something about the blending, proportions, and maybe the use of certain synthetics make for a not-so-smooth experience. It opens with the citrus and coconut and the white florals emerge. Orange blossom is the most prominent to my nose. And it's of the soapy type found in Tom Ford Neroli Portofino. I am really put off by lasting soapiness in perfume and it persists on me in this fragrance. To me it smells like I layered the Tom Ford over coconut tanning oil. It has a decidedly beachy feel rather than the tropical dessert vibe I was going for. The far drydown was more pleasurable with hints of coconut, vanilla, and a dash of ginger. It's sweet but not cloying. I actually prefer Bath and Body Works Coconut Lime Verbena lotion to this fragrance. I can see its appeal and may give it another shot, but I don't see myself wearing this one.

This perfume smells like powdery Sweet Tarts candy, or maybe sunscreen. I smell oranges (not juicy, faint), cinnamon, and creamy coconut underneath. It's a tiny bit musky as well. Over time, only cinnamon remains. It smells like you're heading out for a tropical vacation and then end up alone sucking on a red hot cinnamon candy. I love Kerosene, but this one doesn't quite work with me, and it's a bit different from the vibe of the house too, which is known for cozy photorealistic edible gourmands -- coffees, pancakes, cookies, grapefruits -- and moody smoky smells.

Like most Kerosene perfumes, this one starts off with a blast in your face. Tons of citrus and is dominant for the first 30 mins or so. Then, I start to smell something like corn meal, like corn bread!!! Way in the background, I get a hint of some sort of fury animal, like a cat maybe. There is also a bit of jasmine and some sort of crushed nuts. I need to live with this one longer, but this just may be bottle worthy. For me, all Kerosene frags need a 'break-in' period. So my opinion may change either way...

This is an orange blossom BOMB. The orange blossom (which I usually like) mixes with the coconut-meat to create the most claggy sensation that I can't stand. It's not fluffy like LDBS, or fresh/realistic like Jo Malone's Orange Blossom, it's not lifted by the clementine/tangerine/yuzu... it just *sits* in the most uncomfortable, THICK way. I love Kerosene for their gourmands but this was a big miss for me.

Smells a bit like hard candies that have been sitting in a dish too long. Too much citrus and vanilla.

A tangy, citric white floral. Opening: sharp, nearly acidic orange blossom (maybe even petitgrain), zero sweetness. Overall, a lot heavier on the jasmine/orange blossom than I had imagined- I'd categorize this as a white floral over a gourmand. Still, I do enjoy imagining the pulp of the yuzu citrus over the horizon, though my nose is distracted by the needle sharp bergamot accord. Is there jasmine in this fragrance? I smell a heady, lush bouquet of jasmine, vying for attention alongside the orange blossom. I was looking for the tonka beans and vanilla, but have yet to encounter any tinge of coumarin or the nutty roasted waft of tonka beans. Vanilla is present far later in the dry down, though I'd have teased it out stronger if I could. This white floral perfume is a lot more delicate than Unknown Pleasures, but the sharp citrus accords reveal it easy to identify as coming from the same perfumer. As a gourmand aficionado, I'd hardly call this a gourmand. You must love jasmine, but more so, the notion of rolling in fields of orange blossom must leave you enchanted (as it does for myself). I am partial to Kerosene as I have three of his scents, but my bottle of Unknown Pleasures wins over this one. PS. This is the scent that is most likely to have your non-perfumista friends cringing their nose and start chanting, "smells perfumey!"

Pretty disappointed I expected something much more food/gourmandish. But really I just got a orange blossom/neroli sorta soap bomb. So pretty boring to me. Maybe a slight creamsickle in the background but really overpowered by soap smell. Where as take something like I dunno lets say By Kilians love. Its got that sorta colored pastal marshmallow smell, and the orange blossom/neroli sorta soap is in the background. But just enough to keep it deceptively fresh. Where as this, well... Its mostly just the soap, very little deliciousness if any at all to me period. Anyway ummm ya... Smells like soap. Meh~ for me.

Such a gorgeous gem by the house of Kerosene is a sweet fragrance that comes with a blast of citrusy orange with added neroli note that takes the place soon after 15 minutes... I found it very intoxicating and kept sniffing my arm every now and then.. There is that gourmandish feel with amazing neroli which doesnt make perfume obnoxious and sweetness overload. Must try if you like diff take on Neroli.. Superb i would say Lasting is like 8 hours consistent with projection till 2 feets.!!

To me, Unforsaken smells like dried coconut with an orange creamsicle. It is very much a gourmand but is not sickly sweet. It is a linear scent with moderate sillage and longevity. The drydown for me is dry, unsweetened coconut that smells very natural. Although I enjoy this scent and find it fun, I do get a bit tired of it by the end of the day. I am content with a decant of Unforsaken for now.

Sammy, dude it sounds so personal. Everybody I know really likes the kerosene line. My friends range in age 16 to 74. Hmmm. This is one most of my peeps favor. I just ordered it and I know my girls will be popping buy for a spirtz. We love the way the coconut is presented, a light floral breeze, a bit of ginger spice with a powdery vanilla. Liked by males and females

Smells like a bowl of orange blossoms. I layer it with Montangne's Parfum de Cerise and wind up smelling like a fruit salad all day. I love many of Mr. Pegg's creations, but this one pairs so perfectly with the aforementioned cherry fragrance, it is certainly one of my favorites. Tried pairing it with Lost Cherry too. Not the same.

....and a definite no for those that neroli forward fragrances are over neroli'd and make them gag from sweetness and plastic. That is a note I can smell a mile away. My nose doesn't like it :o( but it does love orange blossom. Odd. And this definitely smells like Sweet Redemption. I have it and it is almost a 100% dupe.

This is a great blended fragrance. Although it is not really for me and a little too feminine, I can appreciate the artwork and blending in this. I get a lot of florals mixed in with a little bit of coconut and a nice citrus tone in the beginning. It is very well blended and very smooth. And excellent fragrance

Something new and different for this house. Heavy jasmine in the opening, with a little bitter orange. Coconut steps in when the jasmine fades, enriched with a faint cozy tonka note. This isn't a complicated scent, but it's a beautiful creamy floral that dipped its toes in the gourmand pool.

Okay, hear me out. Have you ever walked into the “earth” store, like the one that sells gems and rocks and the patterned drug rugs? And they always smell the exact same, like some fruity incense burning? This smells like every one of those stores! Fascinating

Scent - creamy orange blossom. Season/Time of Day - I prefer to use this one in the colder months, day or night. Projection - I did get noticed, it garners compliments. Longevity - I get 12hrs consistently

Another hit from Kerosene! Very creamy tropical fragrance. The coconut is muted and not sharp which I appreciate. Well blended and great for summer.

Guys this is being discontinued as of 9/1/23 - get a bottle if you love it! I love this one, its very fun and lasts quite a long time.
