Vanilified

I love this... and it was love at first sniff too!! I immediately began to think of the ways that I could layer this fragrance. I adore vanilla, so perhaps I am biased... but to me this isn’t just a sweet dark vanilla. Vanilified IS nuanced, if you know how to look, and the various vanillas added with the cocoa gives it an alluring depth that pulls you in. I layered Vanilified with cereal milk moisturizer, and I found the blend soothing. I am wearing this fragrance today (temp high of 73), and I applied it 12 hours ago... and I can still smell it. Throughout the day, I caught whiffs of Vanilified on my skin and my clothes. To me, Vanilified is unisex... but depending on how you layer it, you can get it to lean either way. I look forward to wearing this fragrance in the colder months too.

Starts out like applying a bottle of vanilla extract to your pulse points and then using cocoa powder as bronzer. Deeply edible in a way that most vanillas aren't - no hint of that artificial candle scent, or the sickly-sweetness that some vanillas can take on. Truly so gourmand that it borders on savory. But, it relatively quickly fades into something much more earthy and even musky, to the extent I almost pick up hints of grass after a few hours. I absolutely LOVE vanillas - if I'm picking up a candle or something, I am always going to go for vanilla, and I've sampled dozens of vanilla fragrances, but this is the first one I've really considered a full-sized bottle of.

Second review: since I'm sincerely baffled as to why this one isn't getting more love. Folks, this is KEROSENE'S TAKE on vanilla. Those looking for a predictable donut shop cookie cutter fragrance need to move on (or revise their expectations). Description of this as a 'cold' vanilla are spot on. High level of natural, top quality ingredients extremely evident in composition. Pronounced cocoa notes, along with a deep amber both succeed in grounding the fragrance completely and rendering it somehow familiar but at the same time as unique as one can get as far as vanillas go. THE BEST vanilla I've encountered in my 51 years.

Kerosene will never produce anything 'typical' or generic. This is a prime example. You won't get a cakey, sickeningly sweet vanilla with this one (haven't we had enough of those?) Dark resiney vanilla and cocoa. I truly love it. What's more, whenever I wear it, inevitably, someone around me sniffs the air, exclaiming: 'Who smells good?" That's more than enough for me.

For me, this starts with a chocolate vanilla liquor very delicious but not too sweet. It dries down to a vanilla incense, very musky, deep smoky, almost with some sandalwood or other soft woody romantic evening kind of scent. I love it.

One small sample test spray on skin hours ago and it’s still going strong, despite the warm humid temps in my area. A deep, rich vanilla that softens in the dry down for a truly unisex fragrance. John never misses💯

Such a unique vanilla scent! Absolutely beautiful! Overdose of vanilla with a lot of cocoa power and because of cocoa it has slightly bit of sourness. Not typical vanilla so maybe not safe blind buy

A strange and intriguing take on a very familiar scent family. As expected with Kerosene, I would have definitely not have guessed the direction that this scent takes, especially considering its namesake. The bourbon vanilla and cocoa are the real standouts of this fragrance. It's a turpernic, wooden floorboard dusted with cocoa powder and vanilla ice cream melting into your skin; it's quite elemental and ethereal. It's a lot brighter than I would have imagined and feels like a light fog swirling around you (unlike the typical heavy vanilla that clings to your skin). This stays fairly light and musky throughout and, if you inhale closely, you get a rich and unctuous vanilla (it's slightly reminiscent of the vanilla in Promises Promises, but warmer). This isn't something that I would reach for immediately right now, but I think this will be a winner in the colder months.

It's more chocolate than vanilla, after 4-5 hours it dries down to a cocoa and white musk skin projection scent. It does last for 9-12 hours on hydrated skin though, it's just it doesn't project much and it's more of a skin scent than anything. Notice how I mentioned skin being hydrated? In my experience with a dry skin longevity is about 6-8 hours but it's like the skin sucks in everything but the musk, it's just a weird white musk smell that feels strangely clinical, like the sticky part of the white adhesive tape they use to hold gauze at the hospital? I will try again in 2-3 weeks to see if its behavior changes and update this, since I have had vanilla perfumes in the past underperform in the first week after getting them because vanilla seems to be unsettled by the movement of mail parcels and transport.

When I first tried it, I didn’t spray it straight out of shower. Somehow it reacted badly with something, my scented body lotion or natural oils, and it smelled bad to me. The dry down had an unpleasant menthol smell akin to pain relief patch. I tried it again today right after shower and moisturized with unscented body lotion and it had a different effect! It’s as the person above mention. Mentholated chocolate. It smells like chocolate ice cream and I’m really liking it. There is also quite a bit of smokiness in this fragrance that leans masculine. I guess it was just a bit finicky and reactive to other scents already on me no matter how mild.

There's something very woody and industrial about this. It's like if you asked someone who has never experienced happiness before what a vanilla chocolate chip ice cream tasted like. Far from sweet or dessert-y. It's the air left behind when they tore down a factory that used to make cocoa powder.

To me this one smells like a bowl full of hershey syrup. The one you put on ice cream. Super realistic chocolate scent.

I swear this isn’t a perfume, it’s contraband smuggled straight out of a The Great British Bake Off tent. One spray and suddenly I’m not a functioning adult with deadlines, I’m a contestant named Alastair Rupert Nigel IV aggressively over-pouring Madagascar vanilla extract into a custard while Paul Hollywood stares into my soul, silently judging my life choices. Don't expect a handshake from Paul if you choose to wear this under the pitched tent. This isn’t your polite, perfumey vanilla. This is the entire bottle of vanilla extract dumped directly into warm batter with zero regard for measurement or consequences. Somewhere, a Parisian pastry chef just yelled “WHO USED ALL THE VANILLA?!” and it was me. I used it. I’m wearing it. The morning after: I still can’t explain the impulse, but I misted the perfume into the cardboard core of a roll of paper towels before sliding it back under the kitchen cabinet adjacent to the oven. The result? Every tear-off at breakfast released a warm, buttery cocoa aroma reminiscent of stepping into a Parisian boulangerie at 51 rue Montorgueil at dawn.

I don't know what it is, but I get a smoky, almost savory note when I wear this. It almost reminds me curry or barbecue. When I smell my wrist up close, I smell the vanilla, but from far away...barbecue. it's definitely not an overly sweet vanilla. I'm not getting ice cream shop. The smoky note fades on skin after about 10 minutes, but lingers on clothing. The up-close vanilla scent is pleasant and subtle. I don't get much chocolate. It also reminds me of going in to a crystal shop and smelling egyptian musk and that mix of different kinds of incense. There is definitely a burning, smoky undertone. I will find ways to wear this, but it is not my favorite Kerosene nor my favorite vanilla.

This smells like straight vanilla extract. Its unlike any other vanilla scent I’ve had, as it is not so much sweet and soft. It’s a pungent, striking, dark vanilla. It’s almost so vanilla -ish that it starts to smell like chocolate. I dislike chocolatey scents and this type of strong vanilla, so, it’s not for me. Maybe layered with a softer woody or cashmere fragrance this could be wearable. I don’t see it working with florals though.

Rather underwhelming. Directly after putting it on it smells too intense - but more like vanilla-liquor. The alcohol-note is VERY strong for the first 10-20 minutes. Afterwards it smells really good for about an hour before it fades into an underwhelming, pretty boring vanilla-adjacent scent. Too musky for my liking.

Very interesting....may order a sample. I already have "Bad Boy Extreme" for my chocolate/vanilla fragrance...so this may be redundant. Not to mention exorbitantly expensive. They were at the limit when they were sold for $120...$165 is just unacceptable.

Very similar to Saudade by Botanicae. If you enjoy that scent, you will like this. This is a type of vanilla that just isn’t for me personally. There seems to be something about chocolatey vanilla scents that just don’t agree with my chemistry.

Mentholated, waxy, dense chocolate sauce. Slightly disappointed by the release - the official brand description I must say was superb marketing.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEEEEEEEASE let this be as strong as the previous "Coffee" based frags from Kerosene. I'm getting a sample of this ASAP!

I didn't like it. The cocoa accord could be improved, it's too sickly and funky.

The opening is such a realistic, vanilla extract and chocolate syrup. As it dries down I get a lot of patchouli which is not listed in the notes. The dry down is very heavy chocolate patchouli and the vanilla goes to the background for me. Interesting, strong and unique. Coming back to say that the patchouli in this lasted in my hair for 3 days even after washing my hair every day. This should be named patchouli-fied rather than vanillified!!!

I came back to this perfume three times and everytime I try it again, sniffing it and putting it on me it smells like heavy heavy black licorice which I absolutely hate... I hope as time goes on it will smell more like the notes..

Old dusty tootsie roll for the first 15 minutes, than it dry down to an incensy cocoa vanilla scent. The opening is very bad on my skin so it's a no for me.

This opens with a thick creamy lactonic vanilla and chocolate.. almost like vanilla bean frozen custard covered in chocolate syrup, but it dries down quickly to a sweet, tobacco-like chocolate, vanilla and patchouli scent. I generally do not like patchouli, but I don't mind it much here because the chocolate and vanilla both stay pretty consistent. The whole combination is very deep and rich. I didn't know I'd ever need another vanilla scent from John Pegg after Promises, Promises, but I'm not complaining that we got one!

Vanilla extract with the most subtle hints of patchouli during the dry down. Staying power is great, however quickly a skin scent. I'm a male. Works well on me as a "unisex" scent. However I'm of the camp that feels the same regarding Shalimar. I layered this the other day with Black Vines. Really incredible. Considering layering this with my bottle of LADDM.

What the actual fuck!? Did I get a bad sample? This smells like a barbecue grill! Absolutely awful and I am not getting any of the notes listed! I got my sample from luckyscent which has always been legit so this is strange to say the least! Maybe it just doesn’t work with my skin chemistry but I’m offended lol 😆

So good! This is what I perceive in this order: Vanilla tootsie pop. Cocoa whiskey. Vanilla suede. Vanilla whiskey. Green vanilla and cacao husks. Petrichor scented soil in the desert. Dry down: Cocoa and vanilla scented natural clay. Cocoa mystical incense. * Earthier than Nasomatto Pardon but similar.

A cold and mentholated smokey vanilla. Like freezer burned barely sweet ice cream + mesquite. If you're someone who prefers sweet realistic gourmands, I don't think this would be a good fit for you. It's more mature and complex. Not a good fit for me, but it's certainly unique!

The opening is full on cocoa powder and chocolate syrup, but the dry down is pure heaven. Rich, deep, complex vanilla that feels chilly, just like smelling a bowl of ice cream. I'm not a fan of chocolate but I will suffer through that opening to reach the vanilla of my dreams.

The cacao is probably the most prominent note, mixed with the musk. The vanilla is a very soft and semisweet vanilla. It is ok but not really impressive. It has a candle like undertone, waxy and plastic...Not the best of this brand. Sample it first.

I feel weird because I feel like all I smell is cocoa and patchouli for some reason? Esna's review feels pretty spot on except my experience is just the "vanilla suede, petrichor desert, cocoa vanilla clay" all rolled into one. Plus patchouli.

When you’re a little kid convinced that making ice cream soup with vanilla bean ice cream and chocolate syrup is better than regular ice cream > Mentholated/cooling vanilla with YUMMY sticky chocolate

Unorthodox cacao fragrance with some vanilla. Kinda smells like an earthy-ish chocolate powder. Good but not for everyone
