Need some staying power today and also something familiar and not brutally offensive. It sure has been a while and I still love it. Powdered citrus year round day and night good old-fashioned fun. This must have been more manly back in the day because all scents were more straight forward and basic, including the expensive stuff, that shortly after it became possible and acceptable for teenagers to wear. Smelling like your dad USED TO BE COOL. I know my brother loved my dad's Kouros and Paco Rabanne original and that's what he started with. Used each one for over a year, and that was a testament to how cool our fathers used to be. What the fuck happened to us? You've all been brainwashed by tiktok to hate everything on command, starting from things and people of the past. Stop that, it's silly. Anyway Blue Stratos must be within easy reach of any man and teen, this is now such a boy-ish scent it's endearing to whoever needs or uses it. I get so distracted by cheap niches and expensive discontinued crap that I forget where I came from and need to come back from time to time to appreciate the lot and the journey I went on to get where I am and how I'm so privileged to be venture beyond my old budget limits. Eventually found out it's actually an EDT after I last ran out, and after that eventually reprogrammed my mind computer that it's a real scent and not a refreshing deo. Holy shit is this good, one of the strongest dumb reachers of all. Powdery, blue, strong but somehow inoffensive. Not too nasty like deodorants become. Basically manly. I had the Key Sun Laboratories, and the EDT turned out to be by Key Sun too. Lasts forever, I still have my first bottle of Blue Stratos. Last I remember this isn't in the chemists where I am. Please somebody clone this into an amplified, hard-hitting version. It's not good enough honestly, used to be way better back in ye olden days. My father is far from a style trailblazer. The man puts on jeans for special occasions en lieu of his jogging pants, but I digress. One thing I'll give him credit for. In an era when seemingly everyone around him gravitated to Paco Rabanne's Pour Homme (most of my uncles and his friends still wear that one) Dad kept it original and went for this stuff. I used to steal a bit from him here and there in my VERY early teens before I was gifted with a bottle of Stetson. I still remember the smell of Blue Stratos. It was like a young smelling fougere, if that makes sense. I've been casually searching online for some and it seems to have been discontinued. Although the odd time I find that it was for sale it was incredibly cheap so that gives me some hope. If you can get your hands on some, absolutely apply it. ESPECIALLY if it's an older bottle.

Wow for a $7 perfume it beats the over rated $15 nautica voyage from head to toe. It beats Davidoff cool water. Well to be fair it beats most designer fragrances priced in the $35 mark for either or all longevity projection and pleasantness and wearability as anyone can wear this at any age. Blind buying is safe except for the overly trendy people might not like it (I mean those people who tend to buy things either just because of the hype or prefer something odd smelling or even overly synthetic then need to stay away from this almost natural smelling classic). Blending/layaring this with severa! natural ingredients or even other perfumes could effortlesly transform this to a $100+ nich perfumes category!

Whenever I smell this fragrance, I think of a guy that is living in the 70's. He wakes up, gets ready to go out with his friends at the beach, but before leaving, he takes a bottle of Blue Stratos in his bag. When the friends meet, they hop in one of their hippie vans and head straight to the beach. The weather there isn't too hot, rather sunny, warm and windy - perfect time to give a few sprays of Blue Stratos! He sprays himself, grabs a surfboard and runs straight towards the wawes. That's what I think about this juice and even though it's nothing more than just a fragrance with some history these days, it's always fun to let your imagination run wild!

In terms of its abject longevity (on skin it's as lasts as long as an after shave, despite its EdT designation) - on clothing it's a little better - you get what you pay for with this bargain basement fragrance. Nonetheless, it's well presented, smells good, and captures a 1970s masculine vibe perfectly. I'm not sure if it has been reformulated, but it is a genuine fragrance from the time. It doesn't really smell like modern blue fragrances, being much more lemony and musky than expected. However, I have no buying regrets whatsoever, and I use it currently as my gym scent where it lasts for an hour or so and that's fine.

In South Africa, this scent is quite popular—and affordable too! I first smelled it in high school when my friend had the deodorant version. I liked the scent then, and I still do now. The opening can be a bit “dirty” and musky (I put the aftershave version in a spray bottle, so that could be why), but as the fragrance develops, the woodsy notes come through more. It has the vibe of a confident man who doesn’t buy into the hype. Sure, the performance could be better, but at this price, you can pick up more than one bottle and reapply as needed to keep that fresh marine scent going. I’d give it 5 stars—super unique!

I'd never heard of this one before, but went for the blind buy. New bottle. Smells wonderful. It's an easy wear, somewhat fresh and very smooth and creamy. Pairs well with relaxed summer attire (linen etc). Longevity is okay (comparable to many designer frags of today) and it stays with me throughout the day. I love these kinds of scents that I just get some whafts from in the evening. Sillage is fairly modest, which for some is a good thing. I'm in my late 30s, but would've loved this 15 years ago as well. Brobably not suitable for tweens.

Tried this today. Out of all the garbage I have smelled in my journey, this would have to be one of the most pleasent. It's masculine, not offensive, would be good for all occassions. If you are a simple man looking for a simple all round cologne that works, this is a must. This is suitable for maybe 25yo and up. It starts of a a nice powdery creamy type smell, very masculine, definately a barbershop type smell, as it dries down it becomes almost gourmondish but not over sweet. Very pleasent

As a woman I absolutely love this frag. I bought a little mini 15ml bottle a couple of years back and when I sniffed it I was instantly transported back to 1985 when I was 15. It smells just divine, the kind of aroma that makes your eyes roll back with an audible ahhhh. I'd love to see it revamped and back on the shelves because it really is one of the most gorgeous male scents I have ever smelled. Considering how old it is, it's still stands up today.

This is a very uplifting fragrance with a slight barbershop feel. The first five minutes is so effervescent and cheery, like a just opened bottle of 7UP in the summer. After that it starts get a little barbershop vibe with a twist. I really can't think of anything I have that it reminds me of but I think it's well worth checking out. Performance on me is above average with moderate projection for 3-4hrs.

A fine, simple fougere that will keep you smelling clean and fresh. Right up there with Brut, Old Spice, Clubman, and that ilk, but just different enough (at least in the States) to be noticed. Effective juice that automatically adds 10 years to your age because you smell like a confident middle aged man of the world. If it were more readily available, it would no doubt be my signature scent

After a long time, I've purchased this fragrance again. It's not expensive and I'm a woman, but I've known this fragrance for a long time and I still LOVE it. It's fresh, citrus. Any man should have this fragrance, just to have something easy to wear. Want to wear a scent but not break the bank or you're going to DIY? Try this one!

A brave fragrance with a great, old school, fresh fougere marine vibe. Reminds of Malahide, an upscale coastal village in North Dublin, Ireland. This juice has a cool, natural barbershop kind of mood, uplifting and bright. Definitely for casual, outdoors wear. Great performance also. Lasts a long time. Love it!!

If someone said right there's a swimming pool what aftershave would you like it filled with? It would be this, it's got moderate longevity and silage but this does not detract from it being a fantastic classic that is ideal as a daily wear. Just love this stuff.

So I recently immigrated to Australia from the US, and my partner mentioned this fragrance a few months ago. I'd never heard of it and she couldn't believe it. She was adamant that it was a great scent that she loved so much that she bought it for her boys when they started wearing colognes as teens. Luckily one of her now adult sons still had about half a 30 ml bottle of the aftershave from about 10 years ago. I was actually quite intrigued by the scent since she told me how cheap it comes. it is so refreshing in a different way than the norm for me, and no I definitely would not qualify this as an aquatic scent, but it is a fresh citrusy, powdery, musky scent that just feels good on the nose when you smell it. That might sound stupid, I am in no way good at distinguishing different notes on most scents, I'm just going off what I get off the scent. I ended up buying a bigger bottle of the aftershave, which is definitely been reformulated from the decade-old bottle that I got from my stepson, it's not bad, just a little weaker on the open to me. But then I found a 100ml bottle of the EDT a month later for another 15$ AU. The EDT is definitely the way to go if you're looking for a better bite on the open from the newer formulation aftershave. Anyway, the scent is great, it is easily my go-to for wearing around the house, doing yard work, running to the grocery store, or whatever casual errand you can think of. It's inoffensive. I would also qualify this as a scent suitable for wearing at the gym, but I honestly don't know if it would be something guys under 25 would wear. Not saying they can't but I don't know if I would have worn this 20 years ago when I was in my early 20s, but I do see the reason why my partner gave it to her kids. It's cheap for a teen in H.S. to wear and one of her kids said the girls always said they liked what he was wearing and it was in the '10's. I love the old commercials from the '70s and '80s with people hang gliding through the mountains. " Unleash the spirit for the feeling of freedom" indeed. I admit, that the scent isn't amazing or something to write home about, but without a doubt, I will try to have this in my collection for the fact that it's cheap but great, and easy to wear for casual stuff around the house or running errands, and it's just a great scent that I enjoy on myself as much as my partner does. She truly loves it. Longevity-wise, the aftershave lasts for me on clean lotioned skin is about 3-4 hours but always just a few inches of sillage, not much. The EDT lasts about 5-6 hours, with an arm's length of sillage for about an hour and a half, and drops to a skin scent for another 4 to 4 and a half hours. Definitely would say to pair it with a form of deodorant since they have aerosol spray, roll, and stick versions. I can see why some would say it smells old-fashioned, but I just think it smells good, and in my honest opinion, unique. I would use this year-round, but get that some wouldn't wear it in winter or fall. Worth a blind buy if you ask me. and also, why isn't this in the States, or at least I never saw or heard of it before now?

I bought this for one reason only, retrospect! I'm 60+ and I have over 200 designer frags but when I was a young teen I remember the ad's but I never got around to buying it. I was a Brut 33 fan then but I thought I buy this one to wear from time to time especially around the house etc. I bought the Blue Stratos pre-shave balm which comes in a bottle rather then tube and does an excellent job prior an electic shave. Without doubt it does it job perfectly and far better then any other I've tried. So about a month ago I bought the aftershave and it too does an excellent job so I had to get the edt to complete this set! These retro fragrances do have something about them because many followed thereafter. Blue Stratos is a really lovely classic which is nice to have around and simple to reminisce now and then. You have to step out any scoring for these old school fragrances because they set the standards for others to follow! Great smelling fragrance though 😎👏👍❕

Very happy with blind buying this at $10 from chemist warehouse. I am sensitive to some cheap synthetic perfume but this just adds a classic, clean and polished scent to my man without the harsh toxic smell of some cheapies. It probably is cheap and synthetic at this price, but I just don't find it irritating at all like others at this price are to me. Two light sprays on my man after showering at 9am and he smells lightly of it at lunch. While special niche and private label perfumes sometimes have a 'wow' to them, this scent has no sublime elements. But it is very pleasant, and an inoffensive scent for the office. So I don't love it, but I will give it a solid 'like' and at $10, a it's a steal

Aquatic as anything you can find, even more so than Acqua Di Gio in my opinion. Citrus was never too much, but the smell itself was one you could only get in Target or Kmart. This was such an awesome smell, but now that I'm alot older and have explores so much, I've found it to be cheap. Even the bodyspray, I used the body spray for a while, which would start of nice but only for half of the life of the can of the product itself, the actual smell would run out before the aerasole. Even Lynx/Axe held better quality than that! Pick up the quality of the formula, even though youll have to charge a bit more for it, and i'd be on that so fast...

Initially smells a bit like virgin sheep dip, as many cheapies do, but sheep dip smells nice both pre- and post-sheep, and they’re practically giving it away. No idea if it smells like the original because I wasn’t loitering in hang-gliding clubs in the early 80s but it’s conceivable. Dies down to the ghost-musc smell of day-after Kouros after about ten minutes, but then hangs around detectably for a good while; that’s a smell everyone worth talking to should like so it’s worth buying for that alone.

Reviewing a vintage bottle of the original Shulton after-shave formula: Very clean and soapy, with a slight fougère-like, barbershop quality, laced with subtle aromatic herbs, a bright faux-citrus head, and an underlying clean musk. To my nose, it clocks in somewhere between Irish Spring and Coast bar soap. Kind of "the poor man's DRAKKAR NOIR".

I think the description on KeySun's website more faithfully describes the notes of the current formulation: “...fresh blend of citrus and lavender, with subtle spices and base notes of oak moss and woods blended with musk and vanilla.”

As a teen I broke this bottle in my school bag . My bread tasted like blue Stratos for months . I still can taste it if I try . I'm going to buy this bottle just for nostalgic reasons. Although do I really want to

(Current "Three Pears" EDT-version) Civil and clean. Opens like a lemon candy. Dries down to a gentlemanly and powdery musk. Kinda weak, so overspray for decent effect. Lovely daytime scent!

pleasant scent, may be too harsh for some. A sweet note would have made it way better but it’s still pretty ok. Got it from my gf’s mom so Incan’t complain about it.

Old outdated smell from the 80s. But smells great and fresh. Kind of like Old Spice!

I'm aware that some fragrances undergo several reformulations. I'm also aware, from comments here, that later iterations are never quite as good as originals. Not once have I read that a new version is better. With that in mind, I come to Blue Stratos, which I can neatly sum up:- VERY DISAPPOINTING. I tend to be overly generous in my reviews and almost never give a bad one. But the poor performance of Blue Stratos is really beyond pathetic - you're lucky if you get more than 30 minutes mileage. No fragrance I've owned has such poor longevity as this reformulation. Even the worst ones can limp on for at least an hour, but Blue Stratos dies straight after the firing gun goes off. I have no issue with the actual scent, which is clean and fresh, if a little unimaginative; so it's not likely to offend anybody. No, my problem is longevity. If you have to re-apply more than once an hour, suddenly that $10 purchase from Chemist Warehouse no longer looks like good value. This is a cheap reformulation of what was a better original formula. The only way I can make this work is to wear it straight after an evening shower before heading to bed. That way I can enjoy it for all of 30 minutes before I doze off. Because it won't work at all as your all-day fragrance. 1.5 stars out of 5.

Fresher than the original, lighter, brighter, not as densely musky but, regrettably, a tad too sweet. It'll be called heresy herebouts but I *slightly* prefer it to the original - which still has a place on my shelf - simply because it wears better (not because it IS better). And yet in the wide, wide fragrance multiverse of Blue, it is unquestionably outclassed by dozens of others (including budget entries such as NAVY and WINGS) and so is hopelessly redundant. The Shulton original remains more unique and so is more of a standout.

Smells like the colour blue. Doesn’t entirely have that fresh out of the shower smell as its a bit musky. I also get a manuka honey smell to it which isn’t listed at all. Super solid for the price point but wouldn’t rely on it. Performance and sillage is slightly weaker than average but you can always overspray for how cheap it is. 7/10

I bought the after shave dirt cheap to bring back some scent memories from my childhood. When grandfathers and dads used what we now refer to as Old school/Vintage classics. It really has a sharp alcoholic opening, kinda like hand sanitizer. Just for a short while, then come the citrus and marine notes which are very fresh. After a few minutes the geranium kicks in along with a thyme/basil powdery mix. I don’t get so much of the other listed notes. Well. This scent clearly is old school and isn’t really for me. Time changes and so does style in perfumes. But I do respect it as a classic and I can see why it has been so popular over the years.

I will never forget this. I practically grew up on this stuff. Well promoted, marketed and advertised in South Africa during the early eighties, Blue Stratos was synonymous with top well known cheaper mens colognes back in those days. I remember it being very fresh, almost sea-like with strong citrus accords. All I can say is that it used to be very nice. I have wonderful memories from using this juice. With respect, I will not buy it again as it is not something I want to define myself with.

OMG this is so funny, it's my brother's most hated fragrance! He received this fragrance as a gift, 3 years in a row and he absolutely hated it! It was hilarious seeing his face while acepting the gift!=) From what I remember, this fragrance is very sharp, even acidic, and clearly not suitable for a young man.

I’m on a bit of a nostalgia trip so picked up some cheap versions of this, Brut, Old Spice and Hai Karate. Hard to say how this compares with the original I experienced back in the 80’s as on me this stuff is gone in seconds. The original lasted for days!

What Is this, the Worst thing ever Named under Eau the toilette name, should it be out the shelves seriously there`s something rotten inside of this bottle, what were they thinking when created this Thing.Is nauseasting, impossible to smell.

A lot of old school fragrances can be a bit full on. I find this a gentler, softer reminder of the 80's than most. It's fresh and round at the same time. The lemon/citrus note isn't sharp at all but has a creamy aspect - like canned shaving cream. It's not at all refined or sophisticated but it's such a pleasant, clean smell that I can't imagine anyone (over 30) not enjoying this. Someone below mentioned Drakkar Noir - and I can certainly see the connection; however, I wouldn't say that this feels cheaper than Drakkar - just lighter, more relaxed and sunny. Honestly, it smells so classic that I think that even if you typically spend way more on fragrances, it's still worth having this as a "chuck in the bag" bottle that is actually quite versatile. I've recently started spraying it on my skin, instead of my clothes - and the far dry down is gorgeous, with a very gentle saline touch coming through with the creaminess of sandalwood. Love it!

I am writing this review based on the aftershave in the 50ml splash bottle. I have never tried the EDT version of this fragrance. Blue Stratos reminds me of the 1980s, I can still remember the television advert of the man hang gliding over snow covered alps. As a boy I smelt this fougere on uncles and family friends. Today the fragrance evokes some nostalgia and a feeling of being freshly shaved and groomed. But I also feel that the fragrance has aged a bit. Definitely an older mans barbershop fragrance. It opens with strong musk, lavender and geranium notes. As it settles the musk remains strong but I start to notice the vanilla more. The aftershave lasts about 4 or 5 hours on me and the projection is strong initially and settles after about two hours of wear. Overall a decent fragrance, very reminiscent of it's era, and comparable in value to Brut or Old Spice.

Didn’t like it at first- took a while for my nose to adapt, I really love it now. I have the Aftershave. For the price it’s worth having just as an ornament - what a beautiful deep blue bottle, with minimal white seagull/albatross logo. Like Brut, although I use it as an aftershave, I also like to splash through the day to refresh or put on just before bed - warm, comforting and calming. Although there is definitely a deep blue marine aspect to Blue Stratos, to me it is more of a Fougere as others have stated. Quite sweet and floral on top and mossy and musky underneath. I will be treating myself to the EDT soon- the aftershave doesn’t last that long for me, maybe an hour, maybe a bit more - it will be easier to put on more on skin and clothes with an EDT than a splash but the splash feels great just like the old adverts from the 70s.

***TAUTRIS*** your review cracked me up. I totally get a similar vibe of a dude living in the 70's. But I don't see that as a negative by any means. The 70's were simply wicked awesome as us Boston boys would say. As for me, I was a young lad in the bad ass 70's, girls were girls, and guys were guys. I remember my Uncles wearing something very similar to Blue Statos, it could of been it for all I know. Fresh, sporty, Friday night football, driving around in my 63 Chevelle SS with a few pals looking for girls to meet girls. Ahh yes the good old days. Blue Statos is really a decent cologne that gives a traditional sporty kind of vibe. The opposite of unisex, just a nice freshly done masculine composition that's neither earth shattering or complex. In fact, it's rather simple yet memorable and invigorating -- just like the 70's.

I have the old one made by Shulton (early 90's) and now a new one that came in today made by Parfums Bleu. Just be forewarned: it's not the same fragrance. The former had that 60s-70s women's vibe to it, employing the same aldehydes present in the later formulations of Lanvin Arpege (an aquatic oriental, if you will); the latter is citrusy and retains the benzophenone-2, which I think evokes that aquatic feel because it is used in sunscreens. The two don't resemble each other. I prefer the old one mainly because of familiarity. The new one isn't bad, it's actually quite good, but I resent being hoodwinked into buying it on the premise that the two would, at the very least, bear certain similarities. They're both cheap but do not smell like it. So, I really can't complain.

Blind bought this as I liked the bottle, the look of the notes and it was inexpensive (under 5 euros for 100ml). It does smell rather old school, opening with a citrus and talcum powder type blast, it settles down quite a bit though and is a pleasant enough fresh fragrance (lots of lavender with geranium herbs and oak moss) which stands out a bit from the usual low-priced scents on offer these days). Not recommended for (most) youngsters though (or the lovely ladies!), quite a manly juice this one. I had a real old bottle by Shutton and man all my uncles and youngsters wore this. The whole room and pub when they were in smelt like a European nightclub. I used to sneak some of my dads old spice, I was too scared to touch his Amaris. It is a lovely scent that for £3 did its job. Lovely fresh and cool! I don't know what the knew one is like but I wouldn't mind trying the older one again. It was a lovely blue button with a silver cap cheaply pressed on, however this pressing is not just reserved for the cheap end, I have seen some real expensive frags use this atomiser approach.

Don't mind this one. It's one that can be worn any wear and you know no one will be offended. You don't have to be self conscious wearing it and it is not going to impinge on your personality. You will have to supply that element yourself. So imo has its place as an every day scent, if you fell like wearing something that won't make to much of a statement, but be respectable up close. Have to be 40+ years to wear it as it is an older fashion in fragrance, but has stood the test of time. Really cheap. The 50ml aftershave is the about cost of a couple of coffees.

I remember the late 1970's add with the skateboarders.. also loved the theme, used to sing it with my cousin when I was 11! This is the best of the cheaper male splash-on's of it's time, nicely marine, funkier and fresher than old spice or Brut 33, I used to open the bottle that my Dad had (but never used) and just sniff.. (this probably unwittingly led to my teen solvent abuse!) I've not smelt this in many years, although I did spot it a couple of months back in Boots store and wondered how well it would go down these days.. a nice classic I think.

Blue Stratos... ...it is not Blue Stratos which is hurting my head but the comparisons made to other fragrances. Shulton created three classics which are still around but now owned by different companies. Old Spice, Mandate and of course Blue Stratos. No, it isn't aquatic. Yes, it is citric/herbal in the beginning and musky powdery in the dry down. It has a soft sugary and airy vibe. A comparison to Brut.....both have a powdery character but Brut contains a licorice/anise accord which Blue Stratos doesn't have at all.

Not the transparent aquatic this blue bottle suggests. not that i am comlaining.. Currently the action budget store in the Netherlands sells sets of 50 ml edt and a little tube of shaving gel for only €4. I had to try it since i have a thing for old style mens collognes. This is the old version, not the bottle on the picture here but the one with a metal cap. Heavy longlasting barbershop type cologne in the style of brut and old spice. Has a lot of lastingpower and a lot of oakmoss. Fans should try it.

My friend 20yrs ago and i have always been a great fan of this one. Blue stratos is a scent that bring back memories of the past, call me old fashioned but hey we all have our favourites. I would always recommend this to my mates no matter what. This one had a competition with the Mandate scents they both have been sooo popular back in the days. I wish this could be put back on the market as there are some people out to get them..:) Highly recommend this again..

Tastes like puke... Took a great big slug of this in the loo of a house party (in mitigation, I was off my face on cheap beer, and I was only 16). No - I don't know why - someone probably suggested I do it. Good job there was no meths available. I guess the father of the girl having the party had an old bottle. Man, we wrecked that place. Makes me cringe. And I can still smell the taste of Blue Stratos. Filthy yuck. Dior Homme Parfum tastes much better ;)

Very pleasant indeed. A decent scent for any occasion - fresh, cool and clean. Smells unique and to my nose Blue Stratos definitely belongs in the late 1970s/early 1980s memory slot - reminds me of a time when 3 wheeler vans existed and when one had to walk over to a TV set to change the channel. For the price it's an absolute bargain considering the scent, sillage and longevity. Cheap enough to discard if this fragrance is not for you.
