Onyx Silver

So this is basically one of the safest scents ever. It smells well basic, but a really great basic. It smells like a very spicy, very fancy, really strong bar of soap. So think something between Coast and Irish Spring mixed with like the spicy side of the bath bomb section of a store that sells that type of thing(we have a grocery store called Hy-Vee that has that stuff). It is kind of loud, but not too much, and it lasts a decently long time(over 12 hours as a skin scent). It surrounds you in a super clean scent bubble for at least 6 hours before it becomes a skin scent. This is a very safe fragrance to wear anytime even in places that has "scent police", because it just smells like a really great soap. This has made me appreciate the Neroli Portofino DNA some because I see some similarities(Onyx is much more to my liking though).

Just got this in and testing it. I will come back to rate the longevity but so far so good. If you’re a fan of Castley, Sedley or even imagination you’ll enjoy this. I already went through the sample of Castley I got last year so I can’t do a side by side. But from what I can remember it’s in the 85-90 % range. There’s a slight sweetness in the opening that I don’t quite remember from Castley but it doesn’t ruin it. Super safe fresh scent that’s more suited for spring and summer but you can wear year round. The imagination comparison comes from several of the clones I’ve tried of it. It’s very fresh and clean like that but if you took away the soapy nature and added black pepper. It’s definitely more fresh than spicy.

This is a twist on Louis Vuitton Imagination with the opening of Parfums de Marly Castley. Marwa fans, you'll like this one for a related twist. Sharp and citrusy blast that gets spicy from ginger and pepper in the open that transitions in the heart with cardamom and an almost aquatic citrus petitgrain before settling into a warm, woody, and slightly sweet balsamic dry down. I purposefully waited a month after my hand test because initial performance off paper and then hand test were light but directionally accurate (i.e. getting stronger). This made a big difference as I should get to noon without too much difficulty. A couple extra sprays for good luck. ;)

Wow wow wow!!! The spicey, lemony & zesty ginger!!! Unbelievable opening. Why does Castley not get more love? Then the sexy ass cardamom with a sweetish base. Just ordered this on sale. From the beauty world videos I saw it’s supposed to be a Castley take. I’ll report back after I get it. I got a sample of Castley last year in the mail so I can give a comparison.

Mass-appealing freshie with great projection. This is a fantastic fresh-spicy release from Khadlaj. The black pepper and ginger opening is quite uplifting.

It’s a less spicy version of Castley. It lasts 2-3 hours max. Good clone if you don’t want to pay for PDM Castley. Performance is not that great.

I have Art of Arabia 1, it reminds me of a spicier version of that fragrance & I love it without question.

As someone who hated castley when I first smelled it, this is an absolute banger. I just got it so I need to let it mature (the performance isn’t great right now), but it smells absolutely fresh and amazing! It’s definitely redundant if you already own anything like imagination or Sedley, but it’s still a great dumb reach for anything from gym to office. If you want castley without the stinky aggressive spices in the opening, this one is the way to go.

Last weekend I tested Castley, and within a minute I could smell Imagination. The lady working in the shop said a lot of people say the same thing that Castley smells like Imagination. Onyx is also inspired by Castley, and yes, that one also gives off an Imagination vibe. That said, it’s a nice fragrance. Perfect as an everyday scent for work or the gym. It lasts well too I could still smell it on my skin the next day. It’s fresh citrusy and spicy.

Performance is a downside, but it’s a very close dry down to Castley. It’s not as smooth and not as deep, but the dry down and scent trail are very similar. If you really enjoy the Castley scent profile, this will be a really good budget option. 7.5/10 for me. Scent profile is good(soapy fragrances are not really my style) but the performance takes it down a bit.

After finishing a 2ML sample, I would describe this fragrance as a clean soapy scent with a slight metallic scent. I think it smells nice but I’m not sure the longevity is that great. Compared to a fragrance like Hawas Cobra this smells a little flat. Overall, I think it’s decent but I personally look for something else.

Smells nice. Reminds me of YSL L'Homme. The performance is not good at all, but I just got it in the mail so it needs to sit for some time. Nothing mind-blowing either as far as the scent profile. This is fresh and clean, not seductive. Great for the office.

Honestly really impressed for the price point, really close to castley. Obviously doesn't perform as well, but for the price its a steal. Could easily wear this year round, all day. Khadlaj still knocking it out of the park

This is a great scent.. its very gentlemanly - What an executive at an office wears that isn't too powerful. Its clean and masculine, perfect for professionals. I wish this fragrance lasted longer. I get about 4 hours.

It’s like Marwa but slightly spicier is the best way to put it, easy dumb reach. Khadlaj did a good job with this one. For $40 or less you can’t go wrong here if you enjoy spicy fresh fragrances.

Ngl. This one smells really good actually, like a more peppery version than imagination. Def safe blind buy, also much nicer than the gold version. I'm gonna wear this

Onyx Silver is a solid freshy for the office. It doesn't project like crazy, but it dries down into a very nice, clean, and fresh skin scent. Very blind buy safe.

I buy average every month at least one fragrance, today I mostly buy clone fragrances because of the price point, the quality of these clones have really improved and because I like diversity – to determine which fragrances I buy, I usually watch Youtube videos, Gentsscents is my favorite channel for these clone fragrances videos – a couple of months ago, he advised this fragrance, and the price was right – under 30€, so no big loss if it would not suit me and to say honestly it’s not really that special – for me it’s good for everyday wear, an office scent and I would not repurchase it – it’s hard to imagine anyone paying Parfums de Marly prices for the PDM alternative – fragrances I do like which I bought recently are Rayhaan Nocturn Elixir, Riffs Seasons Drift (which is also similar to Nocturn Elixir – and I like the opening more of the Riffs), Fragrance World One Self (clone of YSL MYSLF which I gave away to my younger brother in law because he liked it so much), Nusuk Sama (no brainer for a hot summer day) and Jean Lowe Aura Verde ( which is supposed to be a clone of Cactus Garden and my wife really loves it when I wear it- so I am wearing it now every weekend)... now I am waiting for 3 fragrances to be delivered – Lattafa Ra’ed Intensely + Absolu and Lattafa Mishlah all three I could buy for around 20€ or less/each – the only fragrance still on my wish list is Hawas Thunder (but it’s still too expensive for a clone fragrance) and some fall and winter fragrances but I’ll buy them in a couple of months

I’ve never smelled the fragrance this is supposed to be duping, so I can’t really compare it properly. But I’m gonna be honest, at least with my bottle right now, I don’t fully get the hype yet. My bottle is still pretty new, around 2 and a half months old, so maybe it just needs more time. But for now, it smells very synthetic to my nose and it can actually give me a headache sometimes. The weird thing is, somehow this gets me a lot of compliments. Like, I might be there thinking it’s too sharp or too much, and other people are actually liking it. The opening reminds me a lot of LV Imagination, that fresh, citrusy, slightly spicy kind of vibe. But after a while it starts turning into its own thing. It gets warmer, more spicy, and less like that clean LV style opening. Performance is honestly really good. Longevity is strong, and it definitely gets noticed. I just wish it was smoother and less synthetic right now. I’ll do an update after it macerates more, because I do feel like it could improve with time. For now, I don’t want to judge it too harshly, but I’ll come back with a proper review later.

Most similar to Lattafa Maahir Legacy. Currently it smells synthetic and sharp, it has the metallic citrus that reminds me of Armaf CDN Sillage. It is quite far off from Castley to my nose but it does have a similar vibe. I feel this one needs a lot of maceration, my Maahir Legacy took 6+ months to be wearable. 6/10 for now

Sample was from Misty mountain decants. All the longevity issues that you see complained about with this fragrance are true. Sprayed the sample on can barely smell it after 20 to 30 minutes. Never smelled Castley but I can tell you that longevity issues with this one are true and it's not really worth it.

It's ok. Nothing new or groundbreaking. Non-offensive, it's safe. I feel like I have smelled this one many times before.

- We need to release a Castley clone asap! - But sir, we don't work with Givaudan, and akigalawood is half the base of Castley, and it has a very distinctive smell. - Yes, but Castley opens up with pepper and has an imagination vibe for some time in the mid right? - Yes sir, because of the citrus, ginger and florals, on their first wear some people think its similar to Imagination - Great, can you get the recipe for Amber Oud Aqua Dubai and just add some pepper to it? - Absolutely, it's going to smell like hand soap and pepper though, nothing like Castley. - That's good enough, make it lighter too, we don't need it to project at all or last more than four hours. The influencers will take care of the rest.

Smells like a watered down Castley, its slightly spicy synthetic ginger and bergamot, removed the pepper and wood that made Castley stand out from the rest of the fresh spicy ginger frags... damn shame 4/10

Not a youthful scent profile. Definitely old man vibes I get from this. I cant speak for how close it is to its inspiration- PDM Castley, but this one is, in my opinion, for the more mature fellas.

Awful terrible and longevity, nor even an hour on skin. And really bad scent profile.

Khadlaj Onyx Silver smells GREAT... for about 30 minutes. I’m a huge supporter of affordable fragrances, and I don’t expect beast mode performance from every $30 bottle. But price should not excuse poor quality or terrible longevity. I’ve owned Onyx Silver for 2 months now and kept trying to give it another chance. I sprayed heavier, directly on skin, even thought maybe the pressurized atomizer was the issue. Still the same result every time — the scent practically disappears within an hour. That’s disappointing because the scent profile itself is actually very good. There are budget brands putting out quality fragrances with solid performance, so “it’s cheap” is not a valid excuse anymore. If a fragrance smells amazing but vanishes before you even leave the house, it’s incomplete. I rated this as a “hate” because consumers deserve honesty and better standards with their hard-earned money. And to influencers promoting every hyped release for affiliate sales: please start being real with people. The fragrance community values honest experiences more than paid hype.

This to me lasts all day on clothes out of the box, its not a fragrance I go noseblind to and can feel a constant bubble for a long time when I wear it. Ive seen a lot of bad reviews in terms of performance online for this but atleast my bottle has performed a lot better than I thought it would. I own Marwa (Imagination dupe), which has a similar scent profile and I would having both would be redundant. A silly way I can explain it is imagine marwa went to college and got a good white-collar job. I think marwa smells better but this one is a bit more sophisticated and last on skin longer.

It arrived three days ago. The scent profile opens with ginger blast, then transitions into a pleasantly peppery, spicy creamy soap. The performance is a disaster so far — it projects for a maximum of one hour, after which it becomes a skin scent, but this is generally typical of Khadlaj perfumes when freshly opened. I’ll come back in a month; until then, I’ll let it macerate.

Man... I own nearly 300 fragrances, including Castley. However its too expensive to signature scent. Onyx gets the job done if you love castley. I have 2 bottles to get me through the days im not doing anything too special and I want to smell like Castley. I reapply after 4 to 5 hours and I don't mind one bit. This DNA just does it for me every single time.

Stuff smells like fruit loops right out of the box idk if it needs some time to mature, But straight out of the box its very meh/Mediocre not as peppery/spicy as Castley. Mahajan Desperado Frontier is much closer to Castley based off my first impressions. I'll update after time if the scent changes and gets any closer to Castley than were it sit now.

Very weak scent so far 3 to 4 hours skin scent life,I will make a video soon once my trail is over, I haven't tried Castley yet so will wait for the sample to arrive first , it has the DNA of many scents, till now it's not impressing me specially the weak strength, Art of Arabia 1 is much better

If you are a fan of the imagination DNA you'll like this, I adore this and prefer it over any imagination dupe. It shares the same DNA but smells different and that's what I love about this.

Ill definitely buy the Og because from even the Dupe i like how balanced the spiciness and the fresh are

Opening smells reminiscent of Hawas Kobra and drydown similar to Arabiyat Prestige Marwa. Not bad! 3/5
