Kiton Men is, without question, one of the most breathtaking fragrances ever created! It was one of those rare serendipitous moments when I first caught it and discovered it as it wafted from a passerby - I remember being so transfixed by this scent so captivating, so alluring- without hesitation, I remember running after them to stop them and ask what they were wearing. It is (was?) a true marvel of perfumery - refined, radiant, and heartbreakingly discontinued. It wasn’t just a scent. It was an experience. A masterpiece. Few fragrances manage to strike that rare balance between vibrant complexity and seamless harmony. Kiton Men did so effortlessly, and crafted a composition that stayed etched in your memory long after it faded from your skin. The opening alone was unforgettable. That luminous burst of pineapple and sparkling bergamot felt fresh, uplifting, and insanely elegant. A quick yet flawless transition followed: Amalfi lemon and sage introduced a sharp, energetic brightness that lifted the other citrus notes without ever overpowering them. From the very first spray, that distinctive burst of piquant citrus, airy florals, and a subtle, grounding base blended into perfect unison- which set the tone for a fragrance that was not just well-loved and admired but stands as truly iconic. What set Kiton Men apart even further was how it unfolded on the skin. It didn’t just evolve - it bloomed. Each stage of its development flowed naturally into the next, and unveiled a scent that felt so alive - animated, full of movement, teeming with life. As it settled, the heart of the fragrance revealed a delicate, powdery elegance: violet and lily-of-the-valley, soft and timeless, graced the composition with a gentle floral touch. Anchoring it all were earthy oakmoss, sensual musk, and just a whisper of sweet tonka bean - which created a warm, elegant depth that lingered. To me- Kiton Men didn’t just evolve - it told a story. Each note emerged with fluid grace, and formed a scent that was vibrant, textured, and beautifully expressive. It captured attention, sparked admiration, and permeated in the air like a passing memory you didn’t want to forget. To many of its wearers, it wasn’t just a fragrance - it was art. Something so uniquely composed, so effortlessly charming, it could stop someone in their tracks. Why it was ever discontinued remains a mystery to me. Why someone woke up one day and went “it is more reasonable for me and my company to stop making this one-of-a-kind, extremely popular and lucrative fragrance” is inexplicable and totally baffling. And why nobody has picked it up so far to start producing it again- is utterly crazy. Its absence feels like the loss of a great painting or a forgotten symphony - something that can’t be duplicated, only remembered. While fragrances like Fahrenheit EDT or La Fenice pour Homme by The Merchant of Venice echo parts of Kiton Men’s DNA, neither captures that sparkling charm or subtle playfulness quite the same way. For those lucky enough to have worn it, the memory of Kiton Men lives on - as a reminder of what extraordinary perfumery can be. 11/10. Iconic. Sexy. Distinguished. Legendary. Irreplaceable. I've never got so many compliments wearing any other fragrance in my life, ever! Very sensual, refined and elegant. A head turner in the best possible way. Thinking about the top fragrances in the market nowadays, they are designed to make you NOTICED - As they arrive before you, they envelope people and things around you and they leave a dusty trail of strong sweetness when you leave, (most likely the ubiquitous vanilla). Those, are mostly marketed for the attention-seeking followers. KITON MEN (RED) was NOT made with this public in mind (it was 1996 then), and rather than noticed, the gentlemen wearing Kiton Men (Red) wanted to be DISTINGUISHED. Kiton Men (Red) was not made for followers, but for LEADERS instead. Fast forward today, the Kiton house is still very active and makes some of the most expensive suits and jackets in the world. But, let's talk fragrance now. The Kiton Men (Red), itself is hypnotizing, the opening has a fresh burst of fruit, like freshly cut pineapple and lemons, it's sweet but really fresh and airy, then come the mighty flowers: The violets and lilies are of the vivid greenish type, they feel just harvested. The musk and tonka bean gifts with a delicate sweetness, which is kind of inebriating, even dreamy. The oakmoss lingers in full support of that groomed and gentlemanly feeling, it's a little soapy here, but also a bit powdery there. Don't get me wrong, this blend is powerful, well balanced and lingering. It brings interest on you, people talk and stare in your eyes, it even makes people feel weakness on their knees. Kiton Men (Red) was contemporary of vintage Fahrenheit and Grey Flannel, but it had "something" that these two icons could never replicate, a certain and finest distinction. Kiton Men (Red), is very hard to find nowadays. Prices can get nuts on ebay, ranging from US$ 350-500. Estée Lauder took over the manufacturing in 2016. It's sibling, The Kiton Men (Black) is still around, and it is also REALLY GOOD, but unfortunately, it pales in comparison to the mighty Kiton Men (Red). The "Black" ones manufactured in the UK are the ones you should get. There are some others, which are made in Ukraine, that for some people, they complain that those ones have inconsistent performance.

Fresh Scent In A Tuxedo - ★★★★ How does it smell? Think of a hybrid between Creed Green Irish Tweed and Creed Aventus, minus the heavy birch smokiness and leather, and you’ll be pretty close. Kiton Men reeks of refinement with bitter-sweet florals sweetened with bergamot, lemon and pineapple. Musky violet flowers highlight the heart of Kiton Men, eventually being joined by a familiar but pleasant oakmoss, cedar and tonka backdrop. The end result smells fresh, sophisticated and you could even say sexy. Kiton Men is freshness in a tuxedo. Performance and seasons? If you’re looking for a sillage bomb, this isn’t it. Refinement is Kiton Men’s ace in the hole and it’s played again here. Longevity is good, this easily lasts me the entire workday. Projection and sillage are firmly planted in the middle, though I get constant whiffs of this throughout the day (even well into the evening) but you’re not going to leave a big scent trail. This is a gentleman’s fragrance in every way. Definitely a fragrance for year round and easily signature-worthy, the same way Chanel’s Pour Monsieur could be a man’s one and only bottle. I wear this more in the spring/summer and fall. Is it any good? This is one of the most refined, luxurious smelling fresh scents I’ve ever put my nose on and I find it equally as satisfying as Green Irish Tweed for instance. If you value refinement, class and in this case uniqueness in your fragrances, Kiton Men is a must try. Definitely under most people’s radar, but why is a mystery to me. I was going through my fragrances to single out scents that I haven't worn recently and get rid of them, when I came upon this. Honestly, I don't even remember when I got this one. So I sprayed it once on my wrist, and decided that it definitely has it's place in my cabinet. I don't get any "floral" or "powdery" accords on my skin at all. For me, it is very animalic and musky, with the woody notes and citrusy notes coming in equally at second. For me it's a muskier, less woody/spicy version of the original Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce. As far as usage, I think it would be best used in temperate climates; spring is the best but can be used in summer and fall depending on the temperatures. I would definitely use this on a summer night, which would help with the slightly above-average projection (don't be trigger-happy with this one, the musk is pretty potent). If you live in a region that doesn't have a snowy winter this could be pulled off year-round. This scent is pretty versatile occasion-wise, but I will use this the most in a casual setting and for the sporadic night out (in spring or summer); for a work setting I'll go with something less animalic, while for formal events something like Egoiste Platinum will be a similar but better option. All-in-all, I really like this fragrance. It is definitely one of my favorite, if not my favorite animalic scent. Definitely test on your skin to see if you get any floral notes, but for me it's pure musky citrusy wood.

I've been wanting to sample this one for a long time and I finally managed to find it in Belgium recently, as I've never seen it in the UK. Kiton Men is a combination of some of my favourite elements coming together to make quite an aloof fragrance. I say that because I find it to be a mixture of fresh fruit and musk with violets and a woody base. Chypre is a good description for sure and I think the composition is perfectly balanced to accommodate for lots of notes which come together well to create a memorable fragrance. So Kiton Men impressed me, very nearly to the point of purchase but not quite. I wish I'd have got my hands on this in the 90's because I would've definitely rocked it. Projection and longevity were average . Update: Just felt I needed to update this review after finally finding a store which stocks this in the UK, and having an opportunity to sample it more readily. It's a very classy affair and I still stick to much of what I said above, however I have neglected to mention the animal power of musk in the opening 20 mins or so. It works really well with that fruity pineapple note makes this fragrance more serious than your average playful fruity/citrus/musk.
