Red

I was able to try all 5 members of the new Kiton fragrance line this past weekend. Unfortunately I couldn’t get samples - I tried all 5 on paper and then on my skin. We went to lunch and I went back after smelling them for about 3 hours and I purchased a bottle of Red. It was one of two I liked in the group of five. The other three were disappointing. I have a couple bottles of Kiton Black, but I have never smellled the original Kiton for Men that the new Red is allegedly modeled after, so I can’t speak to a comparison. What I can say is that Kiton Red is extremely pleasant. It is very user friendly and easy to like. It would be office safe. The main accords I get are a slightly sweet, unisex musk, a woody accord that resembles cedar, a moderately strong violet note and a very attractive creamy, powdery smell - with some similarity to Prada Luna Rossa Black. Although not listed as notes, I really get a heavy dose of Coumarin and a more modest contribution from vanilla. So basically I would describe this as a sweet, powdery, woodsy, oriental musk. Red sticks fairly close to the skin. Projection is below average. Sillage is moderate. Longevity for me is below average. I would give Red an 8.75/10 and a Fragrantica score of 4.3. It is blind buy safe if you really like that powdery and musky smell of things like Prada Luna Rossa Black, Prada Cargo de Nuit, Lalique Black and White and Van Cleef and Arpels Midnight In Paris EDT and EDP. The other fragrance I enjoyed was 6 Ciro, which I will comment on soon in its Fragrantica entry. Vesuvius 3.5/10, Colonia Napoletana 2.5/10 and Riva Fiorita 5.5/10 were all unsatisfactory to me.

Finally! Kiton’s new Eau de Parfums line is officially featured on Fragrantica — it’s about time! Kiton RED EDP, however, has been nearly impossible to find, buy, or get delivered to Canada. I spent months researching, waiting, hoping - all for just a chance to get my hands on it. Kiton MEN was (and still is) one of my all-time favorite fragrances, and based on the notes, I had high hopes that RED would carry that same magic — that unmistakable Kiton DNA. And now, finally, I managed to get it — thanks to Mientus Germany, who delivered what no other retailer could. So, now that I have it, I can finally say this: Kiton RED EDP absolutely has that distinct Kiton DNA - elegant, refined, with that beautifully crafted layered complex structure, and instantly recognizable. It’s very much in the spirit of the tragically discontinued Kiton Men EDT, though it leans slightly more sombre due to the the musky notes. Personally, I find those musky notes a bit unnecessary - they take away some of the uplifting brightness that made the original so special. I do, however, get random complaints whenever I wear it. That said, it’s still an amazing fragrance — sophisticated, well-balanced, and undeniably Kiton and I absolutely l o v e it! 10/10

@Vapor Trail, yes it's very close to the original, with better performance. For me the retail price is a joke, considering the price of the original when it was available.

Nice to see this one added. Can anyone confirm its similarity to the original Kiton Men?
