Knize Two

I recently said to a friend, "sometimes I want to retreat from all of it and just enjoy the damn perfume." I mean I really want to strip back all the superfluous, reach for the knob and adjust the volume to one, and just return to the essence, released from the burden of too much information. With circuits frayed, the phrase "I want to go back home" comes to mind. So what is home for someone who lives for the joy of scent? What does that look like for each person? Our stories drives our perceptions. The stories we use to make sense of the world drive what we can see, hear, taste, and smell. We'd like to think the world drives us and then we build stories. On the contrary, our stories dictate what we do out here and what we actually perceive. So what of my stories compels me to find pleasure in Knize Two? It can be reduced to a description of 'fusty, violet-forward masculine floral' as seen in other expressions. Or that it has an 'old-school elegance' and a dandy sensibility. It smells like grace to me. It is grace in olfactory form, a resonant dignity, an ode to beauty that does feel like that very home I mention: free from the vulgarity of modernity, inspiring a little more meaning and mystery, even driving a bit more purpose beyond the days of obliging myself to write about fragrance. I am enjoying this damn perfume and all of its delicate, damp parma violet litheness, pastel green old-fashioned temperament, soap bubbles and powdered dressing room intimacy. This is my kind of bouquet,: petal-soft rosy outlines meeting pink carnation slivers, caressed by slinking jasmine hints. Those who quickly assess a fragrance as 'dated', just steer clear. Those who recognize the timelessness of both Grey Flannel and Le Dix, do give it a test run. Knize Two may dovetail with the stories that you take with you.

Was wrong with this. after my first review which i have now deleted. This starts as a floral bomb but does settle very quickly. When first sprayed it is as unisex a fragrance can be, but as it dries down more of the aldehydes come out making it more masculine as well as some green notes. very nice after shower. no harsh opening and very natural smelling. It smells of luxury, would be a perfect office scent. can be used year round. must be in nice clothes for this one simply too classy for bad outfits. On my skin it lasts between 6-10 hours with two sprays to the neck and one on the chest. I prefer this to knize 10. This has to be tried on skin and worn for a day before making judgments, i made that mistake. One of the best floral scents i have tried. i generally like fresh citrus smells and although this is not overly citrus it does play a part. and i find the floral juicy and wet almost with a slight fruity twist/soapy. This has to be the most under rated fragrance i own. out of the many i own and have owned in the past. You can easily tell the fragrance is niche both in terms of quality and uniqueness.

It feels like walking in my green flowery childhood dream! What a gorgeous beauty you are Knize Two.. I d never guessed from the bottle, packaging , name.. and then, if I sprayed it on it s unbelievable jummy. Of course you have to be a lover of the old type floral chypres, lots of aldehydes and all the right (for my nose:) prude flowers like a stunning waterfresh dripping violet, soapy rose, powdery iris, night blooming jasmine.. swooon.. even if no one else would discover its beauty, I don t care.. leave it to me!!:) THis is for men?? Laughing out loud..:) it s sure a great feminine perfume and maybe only for THE man who dares to wear such a flower power chypre:) Thank you KNIZE! Now I will go for the TEN! Only for men???:)

I just love this. A beautiful sea of flowers at the beginning, with violet predominating to keep things on the pretty side, and oakmoss and woods coming out at the end. Overall, this is a splendid floral chypre, perfectly unisex. Although Knize is Austrian and this fragrance was introduced more than a century and a half after the heyday of the British dandy Beau Brummell, this fragrance is what I imagine him smelling like. I will absolutely buy a full bottle.

Reminds me lots of Shiseido Relaxing (now long lost and discontinued), which makes me like it lots. I get 1990s-flavored crisp green freshness (even though apparently it was launched in 1978), with soft, lovely, clean soapy/shaving cream-style florals. I notice violet among it, making it a touch powdery, but in a way I can totally dig (though I’m not usually a huge powdery-scent fan). I am quite quite fond of this.

A promising opening with a clean mix of aldehydes, green notes and a very hidden hint of almond. In the middle phase rose and jasmine play a big role turning Knize Two into a soapy-floral fragrance that's still quite interesting but maybe a little too mannered. In the drydown I still get a lot of jasmine and rose alternating as if they were jumping out of synchrony on a dry woody base. Overall Knize Two is a nice composition and a good alternative to the huge amount of fresh "non-fragrances" available on the market. It has a great longevity and a good sillage, but most of all it has the special retrò-feel that makes of it quite an unique fragrance. Lovers of Caraceni 1913 should definitely give this a try... "Knize Two is reminiscent of Geoffrey Beene's classic Grey Flannel — if the latter were wearing a garland of flowers around its neck." -Lucky Scent description. Couldn't have said it better myself. This one is very floral and powdery, smelled like fresh flowers that were brought in to the dentist's waiting area. Too floral to be considered unisex for me. It's more airy and chipper than Grey Flannel but performs about as well, so if you hate Grey Flannel, (as many people do) then you might end up loving this. But personally, I think Grey Flannel is the greatest thing ever, and it's a fifth of the price as Knize Two.

Violets, iris, & aldehyde. This is fresh yet floral with mild sweet. It has the transformation of 80s animalic into 90s bubbly clean. Geranium, cedar, sandalwood, oakmoss, bergamot, & tonka. It's not the masculine labeled fragrance rather than a tender scent in general. Quite exquisite.

Green and smooth with rounded edges and legible violet. It smells like a Merle Norman lipstick sample from 1980. Fun to sniff.

very floral, a lot. a wonderful sweet purple of spring, airy and dewy. iris is not an iris-lipstick as for example in dior homme. it is a fresh and less showy iris. galbanum makes it bitter while the initial citrus fruits tend to evaporate quickly. the green notes are of various kinds. but slowly the perfume is taking me towards a smell that I don't like: an old style grandma's soap. very indolic perhaps due to the majestic power of jasmine? or of the masterful carnation? the rose bothers me a lot because it is a rose for pout pourri and not a fresh rose. more and more it reminds me of a cady or camay bar of soap I don't remember the name my mum used. the perfume is still really strong and the base notes are slow in coming. or in any case they are overwhelmed by this beautiful but dated bouquet of flowers. the oak moss looks out but nothing else. the carnation at times resembles cloves. is it a no. 6/10 above average performance.

I agree with the reviewer's below me. It starts off with a vintage, "old lady" vibe because of the powdery florals, but as it develops and the base becomes more prominent, the fragrance improves. However, it's still not quite full-bottle worthy for me.

Strong floral feminine perfume. Not for me.

Western fashion adheres to gender dictates, and attire been the greatest prop in the theater of gender. Men dress in one manner; women, another. Current standards tend to emphasize a hyper-gendered presentation of self through dress and grooming. Women in the self-confinement of higher heels than ever. Men packaged in increasingly conservative, less adorned trousers-shirt-jacket combinations. And it’s all so coded! Every detail is meant to convey a particular, trivial meaning. Knize Two comes from an era that favored individuality over clonish-ness and group-style. (Christ, I miss the 70s.) It is also produced by a bespoke fashion firm that has its roots in an era and an esthetic that, while it catered to a masculine tradition, emphasized beauty. Women, feel free to raid my medicine chest and grab my bottle, but I am ecstatic to see such a pretty perfume sold to men! Knize Two doesn’t simply happen to be fetching, it plays up the exact features that we define as pretty. It is a sharp floral with an expressive wake. Is noticeable and it speaks of intention. It doesn’t call attention to itself dandy-style like a fougère, which shouts to the world, “I engage vigorously in hygiene!” Knize Two is noticeable as a floral aldehyde is noticeable. Every once in a while, it behooves us to ignore our instincts. Instead, resist our first impressions, let go of preconceived ideas, and embrace what may initially be alien to us. In fact, rise to the occasion. Such is the case with Knize Two. It obliges us to resist knee-jerk reactions. Sure, during the first minute, you're likely to think Knize Two smells like a traditional feminine floral. Then, suddenly, something dramatic and unexpected happens. You experience a fast-forward metamorphosis into an elegant yet clearly masculine scent, albeit still floral. Knize Two is quite unique. And it's certainly nothing like its older brother, Knize Ten. It is, however, elegant and sophisticated. So refined is Knize Two, it almost insists on you dressing better, being more gracious and well mannered. At any stage of development—and for any number of reasons, you may either love or hate it. But for the right man, on the right occasion, it could be perfect. Experience it on your skin for a few, full days before purchasing a bottle. Then, if you still love it—you will have truly discovered a gem.

Starts out smelling so much like A woman's rose floral perfume that I almost washed it off. The Feminine rose note last for at least one hour before finally developing into what is at the heart of this fragrance. What's at the heart you wonder, well Leather of course! It's Knize what else but a wonderful soft buttery leather. I Love what this turns into but I just can not deal with smelling like grandma for the first hour or so to get there. Knize Two, Your Out. Gray Flannel is A much better choice over this as well as Hermes Narcisse Bleu. Both are very similar and more masculine. On A final thought, this would make A wonderful scent on the right woman. I can see A 30+ old strong confidant woman pulling this off flawlessly.

If you are a fan of Givenchy's Insense, you will probably like Knize Two very much. It's a clean, crisp floral scent that always maintains a cool, wet vibe, which it gets from violet. Nice moss and green notes augment this excellent composition, with some rose and geranium to add a touch of dry floral sweetness. Except for the presence of violet leaf, I smell no similarity to Grey Flannel. Knize Two is a lot gentler and more floral than Grey Flannel. This is a class act, definitely gentlemanly in style. Not the kind of scent you'd want to wear with ripped jeans, sweatshirt and a baseball cap.

The opening smells like an elderly woman and the dry down is much more tolerable. The florals in the beginning are too reminiscent of my grandmother's friend. Side note: The oakmoss/musky dry down...is much much better. Not bottle worthy, but sample worthy.
